    The truth about McCain; http://www.capitolhillblue.com/cont/node/10086

Comment: McCain: racist, bigot & homophobe
    August 1, 2008 - 7:14am.
    By DOUG THOMPSON

John McCain, a member of the House of Representatives in the mid-1980s, often held court at a table near the bar at Bullfeathers, a popular Capitol Hill watering hole, telling jokes and matching hangers-on drink by drink.

As a Capitol Hill chief of staff, I often drank at Bullfeathers and was invited to join the throng at McCain's table one evening. A few minutes listening to the racism, bigotry and homophobia of the Arizona Congressman told me all I needed to know.

McCain loved to tell jokes about lesbians, blacks, Hispanics and the Vietnamese community that occupied a large section of Arlington County, Virginia, just south of the District of Columbia.

Of course, McCain didn't use polite language in the jokes: He used names like "fags" or "queers" or "dykes" or "***" or "spics" or "wetbacks" or "gooks."

A typical McCain joke (overheard at Bullfeathers):

Two dykes are talking at a bar and one leaves. As she walks toward the door, the other watches her leave and says out loud: "God, I've love to eat her out."

Two men are standing near by and one turns to the other and says: "I'd like to do the same. Guess that makes me a ***."

Or another (also overheard at Bullfeathers):

Question: Why does Mexican beer have two "X's" on the label?

Answer: Because wetbacks always need a co-signer.

(McCain has a documented history of lesbian jokes. He's also come under fire for other jokes about rape.)

    Exampe:

Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?

Because Janet Reno is her father.

    Another example:

Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, ???Where is that marvelous ape????

When he ran for the Senate, I attended a gathering of GOP operatives at the National Republican Senatorial Committee where McCain outlined his campaign strategy:

I play to win. I do whatever it takes to win. If I have to *** my opponent to win I'll do it. If I have to destroy my opponent I won't give it a second thought.

McCain's so-called sense of humor has no limits when it comes to simple human decency. Shortly after former President Ronald Reagan announced he had Alzheimer's Disease, McCain told this joke at a GOP Fundraiser:

Do you know the best thing about having Alzheimer's?

You get to hide your own Easter eggs.

The old John McCain went away when he began padnering to the extreme right.

So, who played the race card first? Obama for saying something about people thinking he'd look funny on dollar bills, or McCain's campaign, for making Obama look funny on dollar bills:

And why doesn't anyone ever mention this when they talk about these issues?

  • Posted By: millermd @ 08/03/2008 4:25:46 PM

The discussion of Barack not looking like all the other presidents comes directly from a McCain campaign ad.

McCain's feigned indignation is just another shameless political tactic.

"For a man who will turn 72 this month, he's a surprisingly immature politician???erratic, impulsive and subject to peer pressure from the last knucklehead who offers him advice."

It's sad to see McCain so desperate to win that he's willing to let Karl Rove's "hit men" do his thinking for him. It's becoming clearer every day that a McCain presidency would be four more years of George Bush.

    • Posted By: mnjam @ 08/03/2008 4:14:38 PM

McCain would be considerably worse than Bush. Republicans knew what they were doing when they chose Bush over McCain in 2000.

  • Posted By: jonnyooh @ 08/03/2008 4:13:42 PM

I don't think McCain will be able to attract very many people smarter than a Bush voter, not with the crazy hogwash Rove's understudy is cranking out. So he's basically preaching to the choir. How is he going to attract more than a handful of Democrats with that poison swill? The Bush supporters, who will be McCains major voter base, are evaporating. For the past few weeks, Rasmussen has strong Bush supporters at 12%. Those who somewhat support Bush are at 20%. The Republicans are reduced to mudslinging in order to go after those who are not in this 32%. The McCain I've been looking at never has been an attractive leader. Not that many people are stupid enough to be swayed by someone whose main strategy is to make the other guy look like a born loser,.with lies that are so transparent to those not included in the abovementioned 32%. Looking at the Bush fool for the past 7+ years has been an education for the smartest Bush voters - those with an IQ between 95 and 100. Above that number you have all the Democrats, and most of the independents. McCain, in his present reincarnation as a scumbag, will have a hell of a time shaking loose more than two or three percent of this non-moron population. He is up for joining Bush, Cheney, Lieberman and others in the history book of forgettable politicians and crooks. I am tired of ending up with the kind of government that working class Republican simpletons deserve.

Think about it, do the retuglicans want to help anybody, accept there own wallets.

Better the messiah than another 4 yrs of satan.

The GOP are devil worshiping thugs. All they care about is money and maintaing there profits. They will destroy 50% of all animal and human life for profit.

This Election is Classic Good vs. Evil. There new God for the McWar and the GOP is Big Oil and the Exxon followers.

I will positively not vote for a 72=year=-old president. I am 72 so I know how old age syptoms creep up in your judgement, your alertness, and your energies. God help us if he wins! ERD, McConnellsburg

McCain and the GOP will destroy whats left of America

  • Posted By: coolrepublica @ 08/02/2008 9:35:15 PM

I did not even read the article. I saw Alter and the word extreme bias came to my mind so I skipped the whole thing.

    Can someone summarize for me.

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 08/02/2008 10:10:19 PM

There are no cool Republicans. That's an oxymoron.

      There, I summarized it.

      • Posted By: coolrepublica @ 08/02/2008 10:31:28 PM

Assuming makes an ass out of you not me. I'm not a republican. I don't belong to any party. I chose who i vote for base on who is the best qualified to lead the country at the time.

Now does someone who is not an assuming ahole want to summarize?

        • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 08/03/2008 4:06:39 PM

....EXCEPT when the best qualified leader is a black man, right? Every economics expert backs Obama's economic and energy plans. Most military men plus AL Maliki and the Ambassador of Afghanistan back Obama's plans for their countries. Even Bush has adopted almost all of Obama's ideas for National Security, albeit a little bit late. The "Zigzag express has missed the train."

        • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 08/03/2008 4:03:31 PM

...EXCEPT when the bet man is a black man. Right? :)

        • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 08/02/2008 10:34:11 PM

I guess you can't be bothered to read, "coolrepublica" - in which case why should anyone summarize for you - it's your civic responsibility to study the literature, publications and facts about each campaign. And then you form your own opinion...you don't take it from anyone else. Get it firsthand. It's much more reliable.

    • Posted By: Bane @ 08/03/2008 1:10:30 PM

This is exactly what we're talking about when we say "low information voter." If you can't be bothered to inform yourself, then you shouldn't vote in the first place. Get out of here.

  • Posted By: Latino Vet @ 08/02/2008 9:29:35 PM

Barack Obama the clearly better choice America. He is brighter and has a better moral compass. Grumpy is just silly time for him to go take a few naps just not in the Oval Office.

YES WE CAN! Si SE PUEDE!

    • Posted By: coolrepublica @ 08/02/2008 9:33:55 PM

Better moral compass? you mean Barack the guy who in less than 24 hours went from hating the idea of offshore drilling to liking it? yeah! when I think of moral compass the name Obama comes to mind. Then again I think Obama I think of him sitting in the church of reverent Wright for 20 years in order to advance his personal ambitions and then lie about what he heard there.

      • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 08/03/2008 4:01:45 PM

Methinks you just want an excuse to note vote for a black man. That's ok. He doesn't need YOUR vote.

      • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 08/03/2008 3:59:10 PM

Some people can twist anything to "prove" what the want to say. May I simply remind you that the reason nothing is getting done in Washington is because we have gridlock between the major parties. Obama is the one who promised to bring us together, right? Well, how did you think he would accomplish that? Lie, cheat,or hit us over the head with a HAMMER, like the Bush Administration has gotten their agenda done?
If you want to bring opposing sides TOGETHER, SOMEONE has to be willing to give a little bit. Hopefully, when that happens, the other side will be inclined to give a bit as well....and voila.... AN AGREEMENT!
I know it's been 8 years since you've seen anything like that, but that's how it works, honey

      • Posted By: MsIndependent2 @ 08/03/2008 3:48:07 PM

Both candidates changed their position on this issue. The Rev Wright issue has been blown out of proportion. 20 years in that Church -- yes, there ae many people who attend and have attended for 20+ years. That does not define who they are are. There have been far too many Catholic Priest who have violated children and yet, the church still functions. Should Catholics never lead if they attended a church where the Priest raped a child?

      • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 08/02/2008 10:13:15 PM

Last I heard, we all live in a country with Freedom of Speech.

Reverend Wright is an intelligent man with the right to his opinions. I've seen much worse garbage posted many a time on these political blogs, and usually the bulk is coming from the neoNazis who hate, hate, hate Obama, calling him a Muslim (aka Black) - the new "N" word for this element of our population with limited vocabularies.

It's SO not cool to be a Republican. Not this year and not any time in the future. The Republicans are stupid, staid and stodgy. That's their new brand.

        • Posted By: docallen001 @ 08/03/2008 6:30:28 AM

When the Repubs took the House, the Senate, and the White House, the press noted that was the first time in 40 years they had accomplished that. I predicted that they would let the power go to their heads and with luck it would be another 40 years. 2006 may have just started the 40 year clock.

      • Posted By: Wrendell @ 08/03/2008 3:33:32 AM

Obama said that he would consider offshore drilling if it was needed to get a comprehensive energy policy. That's not "loving" it. That is being realistic in politics. He knows that there are a lot of Congressmen owned by Big Oil. He may have to compromise to get us in a better situation.

mattgilman said "There is nothing wrong with calling Obama an empty-suit, out-of-touch, elisitist egomainaic...because it's true." Sorry, you might say it is true in your elite opinion. However, it is indeed not true as a fact - it is the elitist right wingers making stuff up to suit their own fancy tastes. And you ought to run spell check or something before you post.

"Does he genuinely believe that Obama is an out-of-control egomaniac who thinks he's Moses?"

I would say that is correct, I just saw the Moses/Obama ad.
It is hilarious, If nothing else McCain is providing entertainment, and I can hardly wait for the after ad spin on this one.

The Paris Hilton/Obama apparently was to provoke discussion of "the race card, certainly it was run a hundred times for free.
And now may provide fodder for the Republican propaganda machine.
Heidi Harris stated on a Hardball spot that Obama had indeed dealt the race card when he made the statement "he was not the right color to be on the dollar bill" Which as we all know is not what Obama said.
But the "opinion news" of which Harris is one of has never felt any obligation to truth and accuracy. Their job is to influence public opinion and they do it very well.

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 08/02/2008 10:45:38 PM

"Moses" = another "M" word like "Muslim" = code name for the "N" word.

People often name their black dogs (here in the South) "Moses" - it's kind of a cliche. Wow, can't wait to see the Moses ad, sounds like a scream. harharhar....

Obviously you haven't a care in the world about either the war, global warming, the economy, or putting your children through college.l

Some of us however, are very serious about this election...... so please give us some respect.
