You may have noticed. Mc Cain used to look at the audience and the camera and speak his mind. Now, he constantly looks down at what these crooks have written for him to read. He is no longer in control. They are taking advantage of his age and putting the words in his mouth that they want you to hear. He can't control things any more. Watch these people. They are borderline criminals and you are their intended victims. Mc Cain will read the dirt that they write from here on out. Nothing that he says any more is made of his thoughts. Don't vote for these words. They are not Mc Cain's.

Damn, Jonathan. It's almost like McCain never really believed that you left-wing media types were his bosom buddies. I don't know where you went wrong. It looked like a great set up to me. But, what the heck, you're still smarter than the rest of us so your boy Barack should win for sure. Just like always. Well, maybe not always.

It is a derelict of duty by Media and Obama surrogates that they are not telling the Whole Story ??? that McCain initiated this race argument by posting a web video on his campaign site with Barack???s face on a $100.00 bill, Statute of Liberty and the four Mt. Rushmore Presidents. When Obama responds to this insult, McCain cries foul -- saying that Obama is calling him a racist. This is uttler nonsence and a set-up by Media and McCain Camp! Barack had every right to respond. But, as you can see, this story is not being told in its entirety. I believe Tim Russert would have called McCain out on this distortion -- that it was McCain Camp who initiated this controversy by posting a webcam video of Obama's face on the $100.00 bill in latter part of June, 2008!

Lying and distortion of truth to the public, especially by politicians, is a betrayal of the public trust. We expect nothing less than the truth coming from our politicians and for them to lie and decieve for personal gain is dishonest and as stated before a Betrayal of the Public Trust. A man???s word is his bond or should be. We cannot have any faith in politicians who deliberately lie and cheat and they should not be elected to any office let alone the highest office in the land!

What do you expect from a man who denounced this country while in captivity? Or who took our a marriage license for his second wife while still married to his first? Or who took bribes from Charles Keating? McCain is a crook.

Army officials refute claim of Barack Obama snub in Afghanistan
    By James Gordon Meek
    DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU
    Updated Friday, July 25th 2008, 10:05 AM
WASHINGTON - The latest chain e-mail smear against Barack Obama: He "blew off" troops at an Afghan base to shoot hoops for a publicity photo.
The letter was apparently written by a Utah Army National Guard intelligence officer in a linguist unit at Bagram Airfield who claimed the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee was rude to G.I.s.
"As the soldiers where [sic] lined up to shake his hand he blew them off," wrote the Task Force Wasatch "battle captain."
But angry Army brass debunked the Obama-bashing soldier's allegations, which went viral Thursday over the Web and on military blogs such as Blackfive.
The e-mail claims Obama repeatedly shunned soldiers on his way to the Clamshell - a recreation tent - to "take his publicity pictures playing basketball."
"These comments are inappropriate and factually incorrect," said Bagram spokeswoman Army Lt. Col. Rumi Nielson-Green, who added that such political commentary is barred for uniformed personnel.
Obama didn't play basketball at Bagram or visit the Clamshell, she said. Home-state troops were invited to meet him, but his arrival was kept secret for security reasons.
"We were a bit delayed ... as he took time to shake hands, speak to troops and pose for photographs," Nielson-Green said.
E-mails to the officer who made the charges and a call to his wife were not returned.

It is a sad irony that this good man, John Mc Cain, was a prisoner of war for five years and now at this late time in life when he deserves a peaceful retirement his campaign is taken over by others, leading him into another captivity unworthy of his service to this country.

Yesterday, Nancy Pfotenhauer, Sen. John McCain???s (R-AZ) senior policy adviser, claimed that she had been ???misinformed??? when she falsely stated that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ???did not spill a drop of oil.??? Today, McCain made another ???misinformed??? argument, claiming that oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico ???have survived, very successfully, the impacts of hurricanes???:
He just says whatever pops into his head at any given I know, I am amazed every day at the things he that are allowed to just pop out of his mouth that are lies and it is the MSM's job to correct these misstatements and not a word is said, nothing.moment. Sloppy liar.

Q: I???ve been listening to your comments around renewable resources ??? solar, tide, and wind ??? you???ve talked a lot about that, but you keep peppering your comments with offshore drilling. But I???m not sure what you think the impact on our environment is based on that.

A: Keep the microphone. I???m aware that off the coast of Louisiana and Texas there are oil rigs, as we well know, and those rigs have survived, very successfully, the impacts of hurricanes ??? hurricane Katrina as far as Louisiana is concerned.

McCain is wrong. According to press reports, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ???tore through the Gulf of Mexico???s offshore oil and gas fields, toppling production platforms, setting rigs adrift and rupturing pipelines.??? The U.S. Minerals Management Service reported that the hurricanes totally destroyed 113 offshore oil platforms.

The hurricanes cost Transocean, the largest offshore driller, ???about $135 million in repairs, downtime and equipment upgrades??? alone, and damage to offshore producers accounted for 77 percent of the oil industry???s storm costs. One offshore rig, the Ocean Warwick, drifted 66 nautical miles before running aground.

Mc Cain has lost control of his campaign. The people who are in charge are in the process of preparing the dirtiest campaign in the history of American Politics. They are trying to twist every positive aspect of the Obama campaign into a negative. Look at the audacity of trying to make his popularity seem to be a negative factor. It is as if the only way to be president is to be unpopular. Well, it is a certainty that the present occupant of the white house is unpopular. He is the worst that we have ever had and the Mc Cain campaign intends to keep it that way. The worst that we have ever had. Ignore these mudslingers. Mc Cain started with the idea that his campaign would be clean. They have taken it away from him. There is no way that he can win and then be in charge. Whatever you do, don't let these criminals have another chance. They mean to hang you out to dry.

Typical Newsweek. Seems the press is getting a little antsy with McCain getting closer in the polls. There is nothing wrong with calling Obama an empty-suit, out-of-touch, elisitist egomainaic...because it's true. He thinks he can become President because he's black and speaks well. Yet, what I see is a waffler that has a hard time keeping any position consistent. Every position is nuanced...look at this off-shore drilling issue over the last few days...he talks about a compromise and thats he's for it, but in the next sentence he says he still has not signed on any approach. What does that mean? It means he's for whatever you want. Think whatever you want about John McCain, but Barack Obama is not ready, nor deserve, to be President. Maybe he should try to actually accomplish something before trying again.

What has John McCain accomplished in 22 years in Washington? McCain-Feingold, a law he now opposes.

These people who claim that they have put the economy in such great shape are the same ones who have caused you to gradually retreat into marginal poverty as your retirement plans have disappeared, your wages have declined, your children's chances for a college education have diminished as they withdrew tax revenue from the universities and raised the tuition to your children as they tried to advance, and they intend to double these troubles if you let them have another four years in office. Watch it. They are preying on your prejudices, both religious and racial, in an effort to distract you from these atrocities to your future and the future of your children.

John is still with us, the problem is he has been bought and paid for.
Within the first 30 days of his becoming the Republican nominee he was meeting Bush and so grateful he was slobbering all over him.

McCain shortly thereafter came out in favor of continuing the Bush economic policies, appointing ultra conservative judges to the Supreme Court, and staying in Iraq forever to keeps that cash cow producing forever.

These positions have robbed McCain of actually campaigning on the issues, not that it matters the Republican "method" has been long an effort to demonize your opponent.

The Texas political machine long ago found it was easier to buy an election than to debate issues.
Even Clinton stated he would approve NAFTA 30 days before he was first elected. The only reason to buy into NAFTA would be to appease Bush 41, who invented NAFTA to manufacture glass in Mexico after the Bush group had economically raped the three largest glass manufacturers in the US.
Today the only state that benefits from NAFTA is Texas, in spite of the McCain claim that it created 25 million jobs. It didn???t it simply moved jobs from the US to Canada and Mexico.

The fact remains now that McCain is in a bind if he runs on the issues as he might have otherwise, now to run on the issues he would have to lie to the American people to have any chance at all, and if another President lies to the American people, impeachment is not likely to be off the table".

If you think that Mc Cain in the office of the president would not be run by others who can't wait to continue the same policies that are sinking this country, then just look at his campaign drift over to the Rovian style of junkyard dog tactics that got Bush in for the second four years. He promised a clean campaign. Is the act of comparing his opponent to vacuous drug addicted teenaged girls a clean campaign? He is already in their control. Watch it. It is your pocketbook and the welfare of your family that is at stake. They have no ethics and no morals as they try to drift over into the realm of "family values". The family values that they really have in mind is the value of what they can deprive you of as you look away to the icon of false virtue.

I should have put that the name of the article is "Obama the Lost Years" by Stanley Kurtz
on the Weekly Standard web site.

This is an excellent article and very well reasoned. The comments posted below only support the argument that McCain has sold himself out to the GOP Devil and his minnions. It is easy to see htey are all out in full force talking nonsense to each other. However, the good news is that the majority of America, those without hate and bias, are able to process this information and realize that McCain of 2000 would be ashamed of himslef now.

  • Posted By: ldsrapha @ 08/03/2008 1:42:02 PM

It is amazing to me that the little GOP trolls lurk around behind their computer screens and spread their propoganda without intelligently considering the article they are responding too. I guess they just have cut and past ready to go despite what is being discussed. This only strengthens the argument being laid out in this article. McCain has sold his soul to the devil and is appealing the dredges of our society. The good news is that the they do not reprsent the marjority.

In all of this virulence, just a thought or two:
    1. In 1960, Harry Truman PUBLICLY told JFK that he was not experienced enough to be President. Told him to wait his turn. Also in 1960, despite a terrible TV performance, Nixon was pretty moderate and easily the more experienced candidate.
Had I been voting in 1960, I would have voted for Nixon. Had I been voting for a republican in 2000, I would have voted for McCain.
However, the trauma of loss is taken differently by different people. Nixon was not the same man in 1968 that he was in 1960 - more bitter, determinted to win, bliaming the press for his difficulties. Sadly, McCain in 2008 is also not the same man he was. He appears, more and more, to be someone who will say or do anything to be elected. And, he is not very bright (unlike Nixon).
