No doubt Obama has alot of work to do to get a decent percentage of the older southern white vote. The task is probably equal to Mccain's chances of getting some of the black vote in the south or elsewhere. No matter how much political analysis is published; this is still a contest between a black man and a white one in most of the country. In Republican states it is foolish to bet on black. The split between older voters for McCain and the younger, Obama voters has been explained as change vs. status quo; as experience vs inexperience ; as liberal vs conservative; and as patriot vs alien. These explanations are tangents of the real black vs white issue that matters most. Neither Obama or McCain can change the basic attitudes among voters. Both candidates will win where they should, and lose where they should. In the end that means McCain will win.
