If you ask what Obama has accomplished it is because you are not aware of what he did andnot because he did not accomplish any thing as you say.

first: he was a community organizer, a true deed to support the less fortunate. Unless you are wealthy or very well to do, then his community work did not seem much to you but at least you need to have a heart to acknowledge that his work greatly help the have-not. He authored a bill to curtail gift or the like from bobbyists and a slew of other things that make our system more fair.

what did McCain do ? Being a prisoner of war some thirty years ago does not give him the experience to be a President of the United States. Hopefully he does not think that being the last five in his class even at the Naval Academy would qualify him as a person with a lot of judment. This may just shows that possibly he got in the Naval Academy because his father and grandfather were Admirals.

I used to hear that McCAin is a maverick so I really liked him as I assumed that it was real. What I have seen the last few months just simply made me want to throw up. Moreover, If he and his supporters say that his can perform at this age, they are just telling lies. Ask your granfathers how they feel at this age. it is just too important for a president to have the energy and physical strenght to work under high pressure 80 hours a week. We don't need a president who fall asleep at 2 pm in the afternoon or can't think clearly because his physical is not there. McCain put his personal ambition over the American interests by running for office at this age.

Community organizer?? That is what Chi Town pols do. They work as percinct captains to get out the vote.
Obama is young. McCain is old. Duh?? Personally, I know I am much wiser at 62 than I was at 36. Reagan took naps because he was physically tired, but when he woke up, he was very wise and had a very clear view of the world. I bet you would have thought that FDR in his wheelchair was too sickly from polio to govern also.......Duh.....Or how about CHurchill with his cigars and booze? WOW.........

I am sorry my oldest son was 43 at his passing (I am still very shook up) and my youngest son the Green Beret will help my wife and I break this awful news to his brother with the help of Micholm VA personnel Monday morning. This is a horror for my family partly because my deceased son served 10 years in the USARMY and his wife retired USARMY after 20 years. He served 3 years in Germany and I served 2 years in Germany. Obama does not deserve to wear an lapel pin bearing our flag as a US Senator. The lapel pin should be taken away from him. Again - my son passed away at the age of 43 and thanks in large part to training in the USARMY he was quite a good honorable man. "Be all that you can be" certainly pertains to my son.

Sorry to hear about your son we all appreicate his service to our country. You said Obama should have his lapel pin taken? Let me ask you this... did you vote for war dodger Bush that used his family pull to get out of front line service?. He was quick to send our kids to fight and die a war concieved from his lies. Do you want his lapel pin.

Bush did serve, that is more than CLINTON. All Clinton did was smoke but did not inhale. hahaha

Frewilli - The National Guard of the 60's is not the Guard of today. In the 60's this is where the 'Fortunate Sons' went to serve - the stand joke was no Viet Cong crossed the Rio Grand.

Enter Your CommentWe are ALL sorry for your loss but to be blaming all of this on Obama is ludicrous. You need to make these comments to Bush and Cheney. Obama is only one person and he has done a lot for the vets even though he has never served. McCain is the one who voted against an increase to vets because he did not want to discourage them from staying in the service longer. Your grief seems to have blinded you . I sincerely hope that someday you will get all of this out of your heart. At this point, you sound very dangerous. A lapel pin bearing the flag doesn't replace what is in a man's heart. It turns my stomach when I see Bush and Cheney wearing one. Senator Obama is a very sincere person, He does not deserve the disgraceful insults you are saying about him.

oharris30 - I have no hate in my heart any longer. My son and I discussed Obama not visiting the troops in Germany and we both felt his explanation was adequate but should have included his looking into changing such a difficult to understand rule of Congress. The rule should be changed to include some clarification about visiting senators. I am no longer angry with Obama but just very disappointed in him.

Okayhawaii, I know you live in your little crowded piece of paradise and are probably dependent on big government for you subsistance, but true Southerners deplore big government and detest the cancerous invasion of overpaid and under worked government workers into a true Southern state i.e. Virginia. The Democrat party is the party of lawyers. Every presidential candidate since the peanut farmer in 1980 has been a lawyer. Every law passed to protect some moroon, steals the freedom of the majority. Southerners who live in the cities still have agrarian roots and know that if you have a field full of lawyers, you hook up your spray rig that day and clean em out:) And NO we do not have the KKK anymore, we have parole boards loaded with liberals that turn out child molesters and rapists. They were not a problem when the Clan ruled.

    • Posted By: okayhawaii @ 08/03/2008 8:24:58 PM

      impressive! you have some rationality.
Okay, sir, i work for a living. i pay a good deal to the government. i've never received anything like gov handouts, and noone is my family has.
well, if you deplore big goverment, then how do you feel about Mcain's cosy relationship with the military industryial complex? that is the huge rub. how many billions have been spent in unnacounted for ways in Iraq? the iraq war is the worlds biggest burglary; a burgalry of the US treasury by people who shout, 'support the troops' like a child who says, 'whats that? and then steals your lunch box.
next, not all 'rights' laws are bad. in fact, equal rights for every citizen is a good idea, so don't know what you are complaining about with that comment.
about lawyers being theives, well, yea, but is the best solution to shoot them? without any lawyers how would any body wrongfully accused of DWI get acquited?

and, i specifically was only addressing the kkk comment to the person i was responding to, not to all southerns at all. i have had a great visit to atlanta. the comment i responded to did sound pretty bad; maybe it didn't properly express the views of the writer.

    • Posted By: bigfoot46_05 @ 08/03/2008 8:21:15 PM

When the KKK ruled, They were the child molesters.

    • Posted By: jrb124 @ 08/03/2008 8:00:08 PM

It is beginning to appear as if you are grouping all Southerners into one mindset, last time I checked there were non-conservatives that lived in the South. But more importantly from the way your post reads it appears as if you are suggesting that things were better off in the South when the KKK was a presence... if you are then I am sorry that your poor confused mind has to struggle through reading all of these posts and (theres that word again) having to think. No good ever came, and will ever come from, the KKK and anyone who supports(ed) racist hateful bigotry.
      - I sincerely hope that was not what you meant...

The Clan had its purpose in its time. The Clan disiplined many more whites than blacks historically. The last violent Clan actitivy I recall personally occured when I was 10. They castrated a 36 year old white male who had raped his 11 year old niece. He never raped again. They were the conscience of the community and yes they did suppress the black vote and they were ALL DEMOCRATS!! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

        • Posted By: jrb124 @ 08/03/2008 8:17:59 PM

Wow, I really had some hope there for a moment, but ... O well..... I honestly can't believe that people like you know how to use the internet, much less have electricity.... Ironically they were all Democrats, yet they were just as far out there as Hitler was, goes to show that just because you say your in one party doesnt mean you follow what they (or anyone else) believes in...

Get a grip. You need to check on the Republican party for lawyers also - care to check. Laws are passed to protect the wealthy and the guilty - just as Chief Justice Roberts (a Republican).

I support McCain in this election, primarily because I am hoping that he will not increase my taxes. I have no confidence that either candidate will be able to fix our country's real problems, such as education, healthcare and the huge deficit. While I support McCain, I am not voting against Mr. Obama because he is of mixed race, he may not be a christian, or he is intelligent. I couldn't care less what religion he follows. Why is that important? Believ ing in God doesn't make one a good human being,. Most of those KIuy Klux Klan people believed in Christ. Osama beliees in God. Grow up ameri ca. Its ignorant, stupid people like you who stuck us with G eorge W. for another four years. Vote on the issues.

    • Posted By: Ur2slo4me @ 08/03/2008 8:16:26 PM

Roandbob You are one who I can appreciate although I think you are wrong..lol in your support of a candidate. I think that with the deficit and the condition of Social Security and Medicare we are going to have to pay more in taxes. I am a christian and I firmly believe that we are our brothers keeper, I have tried to help by giving to the church only to these Pastors living in extravagence while the people of the church struggle day to day so I hope government can help. I realize there is no utopia, but we must all do our part, I think the major difference between Liberals and Conservatives in social issues is how this is done. Libs want Government to regulate and distribute help, while consevatives want to rely upon the goodness of people hearts. I don't believe in the altruism of people without some sort of incentive to whats right and good. But I am glad you arenot using baseless meanless means of determining your candidate. I personally applaud you.

I don't think the recent revelation that he is tight with the Gangsta' Rap singer Ludicris will help him with Southern Whites. Just one more way he has made himself much "blacker" culturally than many white Southerners (or even most Americans) are ready to accept in a President. So what that he threw Ludicris under the bus this week along with his "typcial white person" grandmother, his minister, his friend Tony Rezko, Louis Farakhan, Reverend Wright (getting crowded under that bus) Ayers/Dorn, Khalidi.

In almost every case he said as he did with Rezko and Ludicris and Wright "That just wasn't the _____ I knew." Well he must not be very perceptive of personalities--something that a President must have is a sixth sense about the character of those he negotiates with. When Iran's President blows up the US with nuclear bombs after having a cumbya meeting with Obama in which he promises to be on his good behavior I expect Obama will just say, "well that wasn't the Ahmindinajab I knew!"

    • Posted By: Ur2slo4me @ 08/03/2008 8:00:41 PM

It is amazing as to what you want to consider tight? I bet you know abosolutely nothing about ludicris besides his rap songs! Sen Obama said he has ludicris on his IPOD and so do I, just because the only thing that heard about Ludicris probably came from Papa Bill O'Rielly, understand that Rap is one aspect of this guy his talent is broad as a producer and his collaborations with other artists. He is not just another rapper like sean combs(Pididdy) he has turned his brand into a business and have done well for himself. Now dont think for a minute that I approve of his all music but there is some that I like. Does that mean I have a relationship with him. According to you thinking you can't admire the best of people with being associated with them. I challenge you to validate your claim of Sen Obama's connection with Farakhan, Ludicris, and Ayers. Please dont contibute any money to John McCain he may be accused of having association with a Nazi, Ariyan pinhead.

Maybe you should dig some dirt on your candidate,He has been heard telling racist jokes for all races, he has been heard telling womens jokes...he is a well known womanizer and drinker.
He has a reputation for being hot tempered and scornful and arrogant with other people including other senators. Heis voting record is bad and even when it was time to help military in Iraq for equipment that could have saved their lives. The man has no integrity, he sold out to Bush and company long ago so he could run for president.

      • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 08/03/2008 7:11:30 PM

Calling McCain a hot-head?,,,take that over the silly little sissy Hussein any day.....Calling McCain a womanizer?...He has been married to Cindy for nearly 3 decades and Sen Hussein is accused of being, an adulterous brother on the down-low. I believe it... Calling McCain pompous?...Haven't heard of him designing his own Presidential seal...or...trying to make policy decisions abroad...or...placing campaign signs at the Western Wall, in Israel..all pompous arrogant actions to the extreme, and NEVER seen in the history of American politics. AND it is biting Hussein in the ass. 9 point drop in polls in a WEEK. Free falling away.

McCain is a man of honor and character. Hussein Obama is a crook and a fraud. That is all that really matters.

A lot of "Whites" in the South actually have a lot of African American ancestry Southern women tend to prefer Black men because of their greater girth and size. Also they tend to be cleaner than blue collar Southern White males.

Sounds like you are very knowledgeable in this area. I am sure you have done alot of hands on research, but for the record: we have a saying in the South about girls who go black- Once they go black, they can never come back. Southern ladies know what this means. I doubt you have crossed trails with any from your comments:)

  • Posted By: Oilman @ 08/03/2008 5:05:22 PM

I wonder how many whites go to church each week to hear their preacher shout "that blacks are evil". Its a sad day when Americans can't vett a canidate, black ,green or purple. I will be amusing to watch the left wing liberal rags bow to the Obama team, not because he would be good for the country but because their agenda is power. Why not just tell the truth. Obama attended the black liberation theology church for 20 years but can't recall a negative word said about evil ole white America. May God help us; Obama is a socialist with strong Marxist ties. He's slick as can be as long as the transponder is on, but he is not at all what he portrays to be. An Obama presidency will make Jimmy Carter's run look like a birthday party.
America; Wake up and get real. This Change would be one you remember forever.

To dumpthedems: The AIDS comment was actually said by Rev. Hagee who McCain courted and said he was proud to have his support. However, when people pushed him to dump Hagee, McCain did. He should never have almost begged for his support in the first place.

          • Posted By: bigfoot46_05 @ 08/03/2008 7:45:15 PM

wgoin; Wright said the government created aids to kill the black people. However he didn't say white people did this. But since our government is mainly white I can see how dump gets confused.

  • Posted By: 8yearsoffear @ 08/03/2008 12:39:07 PM

The GOP would rather you like McCain, because he seems so solidly 'old school'...so wonderfully patriotic, after all he has been in Washington for 25 years...he was a pilot (logged a whole 20 hours of flying) during Vietnam. Well, here are some facts, since the GOP doesn't like to deal in those:

McCain graduated from college at the BOTTOM of his class: 894th out of 899th. That alone makes it easy to see why he can't keep the factions and politics of the middle east strait when talks about them. It also explains why he says he doesn't know much about the economy...I certainly believe it!

McCain on Family values: After returning from Vietnam, he finds that his wife has been disabled in a car crash. While still married and living with his 1st wife in 1979 he was, according to The New York Times, ???aggressively courting a 25-year-old woman who was as beautiful as she was rich.??? (McCain then divorced his wife, who had raised their three children alone while he was imprisoned in Vietnam, and launched his political career with his new wife???s family money.)

    McCain on the Economy:
    - In December 07 he said, "The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should."
    - In January 08 he said, ???I don???t believe we???re headed into a recession,??? he said, ???I believe the fundamentals of this economy are strong and I believe they will remain strong.???
    - In March 08 he said, "I will not play election year politics with the housing crisis," adding, "I have always been committed to the principle that it is not the duty of government to bail out and reward those who act irresponsibly, whether they are big banks or small borrowers." - Guess it's not his problem if thousands of Americans become homeless thanks to deregulations in the mortgage industry (which were supported by McCain).
    - In April 08 when asked about the state of the economy, "I???m very concerned about it, Neil. And obviously the way it???s been going up is just terrible. But I think psychologically ??? and a lot of our problems today, as you know, are psychological ??? the confidence, trust, the uncertainty about our economic future, ability to keep our own home."
    - In April 08 when asked about why he supported the gas tax holiday, "This might give them a little psychological boost. Let???s have some straight talk, it???s not a huge amount of money"

    McCain on Taxation:
    - In 2001 he argued AGAINST Bush's tax cuts saying, "I cannot in good conscience support a tax cut in which so many of the benefits go to the most fortunate among us, at the expense of middle class Americans who most need tax relief."
    - In 2006 he said, "The tax cuts are now there, and voting to revoke them would have been to -- not to extend them would have meant a tax increase." Even tax-cutting advocates who cheered McCain's reversal could not help but call it what it was: "It's a big flip-flop," said conservative moveme

Sit in the oval office and talk to the oil people about where to drill? The man has no idea how to govern except when his friend lieberman reminds him he has made a mistake and correct him. He speak in generalities and has no idea about economics or foreign policy for that matter.
He does know how to crash airplanes, 4 for of them and refuse to vote for bills for the military and refuse to cut taxes on lower income people who are getting paid a miserable wage and no benefits in many cases.

this is a serious election. AMERICANS BETTER WAKE UP. quit being duped by the left wing media and do your own research. Obama, has not done one thing in congress, NOT ONE. he is the most liberal of all Senators ( this includes Kennedy and Pelosi ). Democrats policies are nothing more than socialism in the works. Look at European countiries ( yes I've spent 6 years overseas proudly serving my country ) Its not how America got great. I am not wealthy, nor do I fall for the lies in the media about the rich tax cuts. Just do your own research and see who really pays the taxes for this country. I know the figures ( The IRS just released them a couple weeks ago ) Im just sick and tired of seeing waste and abuse and fraud among medicaid recepients. I work in a retail business and see what they drive and how they spend our hard earned tax money.. WAKE UP before its too late

    • Posted By: missnachez @ 08/03/2008 6:41:50 PM

OK dokman, give me a break stop listening to FOX and Rush. Medicaid is for medical care. Trust me the fraud, waste and abuse by the 'right' is far worst than that of those receiving government subsidies. I agree that there is fraud, however, when caught, they go to prison and have to pay back the money. What happens when government officials lie and cheat us and use up our money for the gain of there associates? NOTHING. By the way, America got great on the backs of those less fortunate (black, white, red and brown). So I really want YOU TO WAKE UP. The 'right' is using you TOO.

Do your own reseach??? It looks like you have all the Republican talking points right down pat, do you have any original thoughts? Do you do ant research besides repeated visits to conservative websites that are just the flunkies for the right, who simply repeat the same old talking points over and over without doing any research or investigative research of their own?

I'm guessing you still think that Obama is a Muslim "Manchurian Candidate" you probably also believe he was sworn in on the Quaran and all the rest of the rediculous nonsense that has been flowing from that big vat of poisonous red kool-aid.

First of all I am sorry to hear of your loss. But that is exactly what your son died for "freedom". Until it a law that ALL political officers have served in the military, Obama has the right as anyone else. If anyone should not bewearing the flag pin is the person who lied to get the war in Iraq started. I am not calling any names.

Your comment that "if anyone should not be wearing the flag pin is the person who lied to get the war in Iraq started", is totally bogus. In the first place, President Bush no more lied than the man in the moon. I say this because as President he cannot start a war without the approval of Congress, in this case, the approval of a Democrat controlled Congress. So, if you're telling me that he lied, then it stands to reason that all Congress also lied, as they were also looking at the same (albeit faulty) intelligence reports claiming Iraq had WMD that Bush was. If anyone lied it is the Congress members now saying Bush lied, because saying that Bush lied, IS A LIE in and of itself. So, get your facts straight before running off at your piehole.

It was based on the lies that Bush told that the Republican controlled congress approved the Iraqi resoultion. Bush dismissed any intelligence report that suggested that Iraq did not have WMDs. Hans Blix, the head of the UNs inspection team stated that he believed that Iraq had gotten rid of its WMDs and that they were only weeks away from verifying this.

bigfoot you are correct, the house was held by the Republicans 221 to 212, with 2 independents; however, the Senate was made up of 50 Democrats, 49 Republicans, and 1 Independent.
