Social programs do not pay for only people who won't work, it also helps people who lose their jobs, remember unemployment is at its highest rate in 8 years. The Democrats did not change the taxation of Social Security, that was your darling Republicans that did that. Obama has proposed making Social Security tax free. If it were not for the Democrats, you would not even hav Social Security to live on.

As far as the 'typical white people' goes, you are not Black and you did not grow up under the same conditions as he did being biracial. Typical is all relative to your situation and if he grew up around white people that treated him the same way, that is typical for him. As he said of his grand mother who was brave and honest enough to tell him how she felt about black men and then everyone that surrounded him acted the same way, again, that is typical for him.

Just as you are probalbly surrounded by people that look and act like you (sad but probably true), then they represent what is considered typical for you. Don't judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Should I elaborate on that too.

Obama's health care plan is NOT socialistic. Unlike Clinton's that would require all Americans to have insurance. Obama's plan doesn't call for this.

justanotherver please stop believing what you hear from the 'Right". I am a vet also, and I too would be upset if that were TRUE but it isn't. In the Ad McCain ran concerning this lie, you see Barack Obama shooting ball with the troops, eating with the troops etc. You do not see him visiting the troops because he never allows cameras to be with him when he does. Why not take the word of the Press that were with him, they have all said that it was not true that he dissed the troops, they knew they would not be accompanying him th see the troops because he made that perfectly clear.

As a matter of FACT he visits Walter Reid on a regular basis and ALWAYS without cameras. In this cas as well as others Barack Obama is in a position of 'damned if I do, damned if I don't'. As far as Veteran issues go. McCain is always against whats best for the troops, check his voting record however Obama always votes in favor of our issues. You should be ashamed of John McCain for dissing Vets in general and he is a vet himself. Now that's shameful!

I grew up on Leesburg Pike highway halfway between Falls Church and Tyson's corner (which was a dirt road then - so you know I am not a spring chicken). I can still remember the racism and outright hate of most of the people who lived there then. But times have changed, I'm a retired constitutional law professor who is absolutely shocked at the outrageous circumvention of the constitution by the current admistration, supported by the ignorant masses of low information voters acting as nothing more thanblind sheep who cannot see beyond their own noses to spite their faces. Most have not read a book in years, most have forgotten how to think, how to reason, how to look beyond their fears and prejudices. I am proud to say I was raised in Virginia and I will be more proud as the new Virginians - yes from Falls Church and the rest of Northern Virginia who are caring thinking, educated and tolerate people who know the past is over and it is time to move into the 21st century. A new Virginia and a new hope for all Americans and all the world. It has been a long time coming - but it is finally here.

Let me try to understand you point. You are not voting for Obama because he is "OBVIOUSLY not patriotic towards this country at all". How is his lack of patriotism "obvious"? Does this have something to do with the flag pins?

You need to develop a deeper understanding of patriotism that moves beyond the bumper sticker slogans on your pick-up truck.
