Xanthone is an organic compound with the molecular formula C13H8O2. It can be prepared by the heating of phenyl salicylate.[2] In 1939, xanthone was introduced as an insecticide and it currently finds uses as ovicide for codling moth eggs and as a larvicide.[3] Xanthone is also used in the preparation of xanthydrol which used in the determination of urea levels in the blood.
The chemical structure of xanthone forms the central core of a variety of naturally occurring organic compounds, such as mangostin, which are sometimes collectively referred to as xanthones.[4] Over 200 xanthones have been identified. Xanthones are natural constituents of plants in the families Bonnetiaceae and Clusiaceae and are found in some species in the family Podostemaceae.[5] Many of these xanthones are found in the pericarp of the mangosteen fruit (Garcinia mangostana), which can be found in the region of Southeast Asia.
Synthetic derivatives of xanthone can be added during the polymerization of polyester, to form a plastic that has a greater resistance to degradation by ultraviolet light.[citation needed] The most useful derivative is tetrahydroxyxanthone. Polyester film can be used for the production of third generation printed solar cells, to make them a cost effective alternative to silica-based solar energy generation. It was originally intended that the additive be used for polyester greenhouses in hot climates, where the plastic would degrade after a few years from UV exposure. The xanthone-treated product has an extended useful lifetime of ten years instead of three.

I am shocked that anyone would want to put the base for plastics and insecticide in their bodies and call it healthy.

Sorry, I can't offer a link to justify why people are so willing to support mega size corporations who peddle everything from juk food to eye care under one roof . Meats and veggies at Walmart! Not everyone is a bad apple, why not support the individuals? You must remember the milk man, paper boy, encyclopedia salesman. Do you own Tupperware? Does anyone remember C&H Sugar? You know, California & Hawaii?
The big Islands sugar cane fields are left wild and unharvested. The natives eat government cheese.

Don't forget the franchise business either, McDonalds and the like.
The juice is healthy and natural and yes expensive.

Darlene, even though I am not a Xango Distributor, I think the health claim you are making here is very damaging for Xango as well as the whole MLM industry. Like MonaVie, I know that Xango does everything in their power to stop these types of irresponsible statements. I wish everyone would switch on their brain before they put their mouth into gear and stop making these statements.

I am doing quite nicely in my MonaVie business, and I have never uttered a single health claim, publicly or privately. It simply does not help your company and the industry.

P.S. (to the comment about my mom) In Mona Vie, one can buy wholesale for a $39.00 enrollment fee. Who wants to drink Mona Vie and pay retail? Hello! As for the business, what an individual drinks per month is simply on autoship so I don't run out of juice. Why would I want to run out? When people come up and and ask me, "What's going on with your Mom? I thought she was at the end of her life and now look!"...I simply share Mona Vie and they want to buy wholesale too! SO...what's so hard about that? I only do this part-time and having a ball. Check out www.TheGreatProduct.com/JanThornton. The password is FREEDOM. I don';t sell Mona Vie but I do share a great product just like I may share a great restaurant or movie. The difference is that the restaurant or movie does not send me a check...Mona Vie does compensate me for sharing and it's all just that easy! Believe...it's good and it's true!

Either you are a great flip-flopper or a bad con artist. You just put yourself on the radar with MonaVie and the FDA for making unethical medical claims to build your business. Good thing you left your information so Monavie can fire you before you put Monavie further in the hole. You should of read your policy and procedures before spamming or, consulted with your friend before getting him canned, for whoever website that maybe.

Section 5: Advertising and Use of Company Name

5.4 Blogs, Chat Rooms, Social Networks, Online Auctions, and other Online Forums

With the exception of the websites allowed by Section 5.3, Distributors shall not use any other website, including but not limited to, online blogs, chat rooms, social networks, online auction sites, video websites, or any other online forum to market, sell, advertise, promote, or discuss MonaVie???s products or services, or the MonaVie opportunity.

When MonaVie learns of possible inappropriate business activity, the company notifies the distributor and solicits his/her response. All available information associated with the issue, including the distributor???s response, is then presented to the DCRC, Distributor Conduct Review Committee, which reviews the information and determines a course of action.

This will hunt MonaVie till the day they are shut-down by unethical spammers.

Dr. Alexander G. Schauss who did the 12 person clinical study on MonaVie juice is a fraud according to The National Council Against Health Fraud. Dr. Schauss office was raided by the FDA and seized illegally imported drugs, unapproved medical devices and other items at the clinic. This is the same Dr. that Monavie and Acaiplus reps are motivated by. yaaaayyy... He also has a vested interest with Acaiplus another juice company.

Simply amazing! I started my mother of 85 years on Mona Vie, drinking 4oz 3x a day. The 2oz 2x a day is for a 20 year old with no symptoms or health issues!!! I began drinking Mona Vie as well. I had amazing results within 3 days, drinking the same amount but it's my mother that had such a turnaround, that she now has a quality of life that no doctor ever dreamed she could have!!! After multiple stokes 5 years ago, diabetic and going blind not to mention cancer issues, after 4 months drinking Mona Vie, she went from 13 specialists to 5...no joke! Her eyes are so improved that she is now reading; the mass in her breast is gone completely and it had grown to the size of a lemon!!! (She is considered inoperable b/c of heart issues, etc., but doctors had insisted that she go to the cancer surgeon who with films taken there said, "something is eating this mass!") NO...Mona Vie does not heal and we know that!!! But in this society where eating sugar, cardboard and chemicals is promoted as "food", we are not getting the nutrients we need for our bodies to fight off disease and health issues. As for Mom...nothing was changed in her regimine other than the addition of Mona Vie and the improvement is VAST! As for the critics of this juice...drinking consistently is key; drinking more is better and being patient. It is not a "silver bullet" but it will make a difference in anyone's health if given the chance! Rant and rave all you like! I dont think this reporter knows what he is talking about and as for the success of the company...something is right for so many to keep clamoring for MORE MONA VIE!!! M.O.R.E...anyone know that Mona Vie is caring for over 1000 orphans in Brazil? That Mona Vie is educating and training adults to read/write and develop skills to get jobs to support their families? WHAT A BIASED ARTICLE!!! SHAME-SHAME-SHAME

The father of the modern goji cult, Dr Earl Mindell is a Canadian-American who describes himself as ???the world???s leading nutritionist???, but who actually scored his PhD from an unaccredited online university (the same ???diploma mill???, in fact, from which the Honourable Marcus Einfeld ???graduated???). Mindell, who published Goji: The Himalayan Health Secret in 2003, and who also happens to sell ???goji??? juice through multi-level marketing group, Freelife International, recently claimed during a Canadian television interview that ???goji??? was a cure for cancer, as had been proved, he said, by a study from the prestigious Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, when in fact, according to the Sloan-Kettering website, no such study has taken place there at all. Almost everything else ???Dr??? Mindell has said about goji juice appears to be complete bunk.

Since my post is wedged in here among so many sales pitches, it may never be read by anyone other than the spam-posters. Here goes anyway:

For some reason, the state of Utah is a magnet for direct-marketing schemes (or should I say scams). Seriously, it would not surprise me if a small army of sociologists did their dissertation work on this Utah-based phenomenon. I can say this about Utah without malice; I'm originally from there and am proud of it. But what a hassle it can be: either your neighbor or your cousin or your fellow churchgoer has some great "new business" they just started and want to let you in on the juicy deal because they love you so much.

Whether it's Amway, Melaluca, NuSkin, Tahitian Noni, or this new brouhaha MonaVie, Utah has been a host to all these unwanted marketing parasites and more. And they all pretty much claim the same thing: it will cure/fix whatever ails you, bring you amazing happiness and make you fabulously rich in the process. It goes without saying, it never really pans out. What a shame so many people of my home state fall for it!

Mr. Larsen, take note: your direct-marketing predecessors all pretty much had the same ignominious ending -- sell your lousy car collection and get out now before you too get subpoenaed for fraud.

The problem with ACAI PLUS! Since THE-REAL-DEAL-RIGHT-HERE is scamming people.

??? Acai-Plus also has personnel with a crooked past. You can never trust these MLM pyramid schemes.

Looks like Dr. Alexander G.Schauss also has a vested interest in Acai-Plus. He's the same crook that did 12 person clinical study on MonaVie juice. He is a fraud according to The National Council Against Health Fraud and has already had run-ins with the FDA.

He is also a co-author of Feed My Brain - Eating to Excel that is promoted by Acai-Plus. Acai-Plus says this about Dr. Schauss. "Creator of the popular Feed My Brain line of dietary supplements, Dr. Alexander Schauss is a well respected author and an expert in the field of biomedical technologies."

After you read the links below about the Dr., you will question his expertise and lose all respect for both MonaVie and Acai-Plus as if you haven't already.

    Gary M. Haiser, V.P. for Acai-Plus
operated a Pyramid Scheme and had a run in with Securities and Exchange Commission
    Here is the report.

UNITED STATES SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION

    LITIGATION RELEASE NO. 14688 / October 12, 1995

SEC v. Personal Wealth Systems, Inc. and Gary M. Haiser , Case No.
    95-473-Civ-J-20 (M.D. Fla.), Judge Harvey E. Schlesinger.

The Securities and Exchange Commission ("Commission") announced
that on May 30, 1995, a complaint was filed by the Commission in
the United States District Court for the Middle District of
Florida seeking permanent injunctive relief, civil penalties, an
accounting and disgorgement against Personal Wealth Systems, Inc.
("PWS"), a privately held Florida corporation based in
Jacksonville, Florida, and Gary M. Haiser ("Haiser"), its
    president, also of Jacksonville, Florida.

The complaint alleges that from at least June 1986 through at
least June 1994, PWS and Haiser operated a multilevel marketing
pyramid scheme by offering and selling PWS memberships to the
public. The complaint alleges that the PWS memberships
constituted investment contracts, and thus securities, which were
offered and sold to the public in an unregistered distribution
for which no exemption from registration was available. In
connection with the offer and sale of the memberships, the
complaint alleges that PWS and Haiser made fraudulent
misrepresentations and omissions of material facts concerning the
potential return associated with the PWS memberships, the risk of
market saturation, and the prior financial performance of PWS.

The complaint alleges that the scheme generated total gross
revenues of approximately $7.7 million, of which approximately $6
million, or 78%, was generated by fees from membership sales.
Although the total number of persons purchasing PWS memberships
is not known, PWS had 1,840 members as of April 1993.

The complaint seeks to enjoin PWS and Haiser from violating
Sections 5(a), 5(c) and 17(a) of the Securities Act of 1933
      ("Securities Act"), 15 U.S.C. Sections 77e(a), 77e(c) and 77q(a),
and Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934
      ("Exchange Act"), 15 U.S.C. Section 78j(b), and Rule 10b-5, 17
C.F.R. Section 240.10b-5, promulgated thereunder. In addition,
the complaint seeks civil penalties pursuant to Section 20(d) of
the Securities Act, 15 U.S.C. Section 77t(d), and Section 21(d)
of the Exchange Act, 15 U.S.C. Section 78u(d), against PWS and
Haiser, an accounting and disgorgement of all ill-gotten gains

Acai juice is available at Costco for about 1/4 the price the multi-level marketing people sell it for. I purchased it from the multi-level marketing people about 13 months ago, and two servings of the very delicious drink resulted in large welts on my lower back - I had an allergic reaction to the magic potion.

    • Posted By: GetYourFactsRight @ 08/20/2008 11:46:21 PM

Yup, Costco sells a drink with Acai and a bunch of other fruit in it, and yup it's around $20 bucks but first of all you have to also join Costco, $50 bucks or $100 bucks a year for a membership before you can buy your bottle of juice, and second of all, it is a very weak concoction. Here is what they claim???

All-in-One Super Antioxidant Juice, 150,000 O.R.A.C. Units per 30 Ounce Bottle, (5,000 per ounce) which is all well and good. Just the Acai portion of MonaVie contains 1027 ORAC units per GRAM, not per OUNCE, and there are 28.35 GRAMS in every OUNCE, you can do the math. You do get what you pay for, and I doubt that the total solids just in the Acai alone in the Costco product is any more than 2-4%. MonaVie???s total Acai solids is a minimum of 14%. You get what you pay for. By the way, how much commission did you make for introducing everyone here on this blog to Costco???s All-in-One Super Antioxidant Juice?? Do you think they will at least wave the yearly membership fee of $50 or $100? I doubt it.

        GetYourFactsRight,

        What does Monavie Claim?

I don't want to see any studies done on the berry, I want to see what studies or claims you can find on Monavie Juice.

    • Posted By: GetYourFactsRight @ 08/20/2008 11:50:59 PM

$20 is not a 1/4 of the price of MonaVie, it's half the price if you purchase it at retail and $10 bucks less if you purchase a single case which I drink 2 of every month. And you an also purchase a slightly larger bulk order which works out to $20 per bottle. So if you are having a reaction to the product, does the reaction feel better at $20 bucks a bottle from Costco??

Must be a pile of it in there, I see they have it listed right at the top in the HERBAL TEA BLEND section under PRODUCTS link on the corporate website.

Interesting that the study is done on Acai berry and not the overpriced Monavie Juice on Pubmed. No real science on the juice!!!

Dr. Alexander G. Schauss who did the 12 person clinical study on MonaVie juice is a fraud according to The National Council Against Health Fraud and has already had run-ins with the FDA.

But thanks for your findings. Now when we buy a juice at a store with Acai Berry in it we will know of the benefits and don't have to be sold by a bunch of vultures involved with a MLM pyramid scheme selling an overpriced juice just to make a commission.

Obviouslly you didn't read the post on the website about the media did you. The numbers have to be calculated as an accumlative. Read the artical to see why it was miss-calculated.. Then answer me this. Why has Monavie passed Google, eBay, and Amazon in its first three years and a half years in business? Thats why this story has been one sided. For a company to grow by 21,000 people a week it speaks for itself. Show me any company that is comparable thus far..Let the facts speak for themselves...

"Critics call MonaVie a "legalized scam" that benefits only a few kingpin executives." Just like AlGores carbon offset schemes, why don't you investigate that?

Never really thought about that CLEETUS. But it makes sense. Our industry is a great target for them, what have they got to lose, other than Amway maybe. I see Amway is starting to do commercials. So big media will most likely will not go after Amway, as they are a potential ongoing income source as they break into retail or wherever the heck they are heading???!!??? Anyway, I think I was trying to say, I agree with you. :)

I wonder if there are any Network Marketing companies that the major media outlets like. I mean, first of all, the industry of network marketing doesn't advertise, major media never get paid by them. In fact, network marketing is getting bigger and bigger every year. There are thousands of companies now. Seems as though they are gaining market trust. But Jamor media still hasn't found even one that they like. Interesting. Of course there are some celebs that talk good about some of the companies. Anyway, I just say keep in mind the source of your information, and their motivation. I thought, considering the writers position, he did a fairly good job, not the most accurate, but pretty good for a guy who's not in the industry.

I think Monavie is a wondeful Product. I like all the research and science they have to back up their claims. They have the best processing of the acai berry on the planet, i think if you look a lttlle more into the company and its product you will like what you see, drink and make!! www.the-team.biz/MV924692

I purchased the acai juice from multi-level marketing people 13 months ago; after two servings, I had huge welts on my lower back - a painful allergic reaction, and a waste of $54. I have recently noticed that acai juice is available at Costco (produce section) at about 1/4 the price charged by the multi-level marketing people.

A lot of deceptive mlm companies, like Monavie, went through someone simply filling a complaint to have a company looked into, which leads to huge fines to that company and possible termination for using deceptive tactics of income claims to product health claims.

Most people do not know where they can send a complaint to have a pyramid scheme shut down. Many Government Agencies look at BBB Reports first and may even work with BBB. Look for the BBB in the city the company is closest to ( Salt Lake City, UT ) and file a complaint. It just takes 20 complaints for the Attorney Generals Office to investigate a company, fine the company or shut them down. Find the state the offending party is in and send an electronic complaint fast.

If you are invited to attend a MonaVie opportunity meeting, even though they may call it something else on their invite, bring a voice recorder, video camera or even a camera and record the event with one of those medias. That away after the meeting if all you heard was how to recruit people to earn money or testimonies of curing ailments you have something to send to the FTC, Attorney General of your State, BBB or the FDA. Reps for Monavie always tend to show their potential earnings to entice you to sign up. Reps will also make deceptive health claims on how the juice cured or got rid of some kind of health issue for them or someone they know so you will buy the overpriced juice.
