The only thing that works is a good diet and exercise! If you people only knew all the pyramid scams going around in Utah, you would not be surprised that this is just another one. There is no miracle in a bottle that will cure your life.

Nobody is making that claim. It's just a fruit juice!!! Nobody is trying to scam anybody. It's fruit juice!

To the writer of this article, Tony and Newsweek, shame on you both. I am a very proud MonaVie Distributor and fortunately for me, I know better than to believe this article. Unfortunately, for others who are considering the juice for themselves, you have now put a doubt in their minds and a made MonaVie and it's founder Dalin Larsen appear to be shady. You obviously didn't do your homework and just threw together some thoughts. I will definately think twice about anything that is published in this magazine or on your site again. Too bad you couldn't have gotten the facts correct, you missed a huge opportunity to report on this amazing product and company. MONAVIE FOR LIFE!!!!!!!

Apparently you haven't done YOUR research on your founder. I thought the article was very honest and favorable to your company.

Maybe you should try and stay more nuetral and not try and push Xango on the same forum as you write this.

As ignorant as this article is, there is something much bigger and more important that people here need to be aware of. Codex Alimentarius, a UN/World Health Organization hatched food code is set to be implemented in the U.S. in December of 2009 against the will of the people, of Congress, and even U.S. law. Codex will change the food code from common law to Napoleonic law - common law says that whatever is not expressly forbidden is permitted while Napoleonic law says that whatever is not expressly permitted is forbidden. Codex will ban all natural vitamins and supplements under "Vitamin and Mineral Guidelines", except for a small few that will only be available by prescription only and in doses that are not effective, not to mention an incredible price tag. Codex will reclassify all nutritional supplements as "toxins" and will regulate their levels as such. Codex will undo DSHEA guidelines here in America that protect our health freedom and the freedom to buy foods, supplements, vitamins, and minerals without interference from regulation. Codex will take away all that freedom, without approval by anyone in the U.S. because it will be an international mandate. Codex is already mandated in Norway and Germany and is being pushed in Canada right now under the bills C-51 and C-52. If you value health freedom and want to continue having the freedom to purchase the food, vitamins, and supplements of your choice, you need to tell everyone you know about Codex - your family, friends, Congressmen, local news stations. This is huge and will affect everyone, even if you've only bought a single bottle of vitamin C (which will no longer be available on store shelves either). Please visit http://www.healthfreedomusa.org for more information - it is one of the best sources I've found for information about Codex. As would be expected, the pharmaceutical companies are behind Codex because they see the growing popularity of natural health because it actually works! But the drug companies don't make money when you aren't sick and taking their medications. Please read about Codex and tell everyone you know about it. God bless!

Newsweek anyone who reads these comments are going to want to try the product. Simply explain how many around the States feel the same about Mona Vie they love it. This article might back fire on your attack.

I hope so. I am sick and tired of this garbage from the likes of Newsweek...if people can't see through to the intent of this article, then I feel sorry for them. Inaccurate and poor journalism. Period.

Here is your newsweek reporter looking and researching for the best information he can find. You all should call and let him know. This is his post from another website.

I'm a reporter for a national print publication that's working on a story about MonaVie. Since I've already heard tons of positive testimonials, I'd be interested in hearing from any one who has had a bad experience distributing the drink. I can be reached at 212-445-4430. Many thanks.

Wow - the smoking gun. If it wasn't obvious from the snarky way the article was written in the first place, here is your proof that this article was meant to vilify not only this company but also natural health at the same time.

my wife is brazilian, and my son was born there. i have spent a great deal of time there, and this article makes me laugh. sure acai is good for you, but this is the equivalent of me loading up a bunch of balckberries and selling them as the same magic elixir/cure all in brazil. its just a freakin' piece of fruit. and thats why its healthy. its fruit. i personally like my acai frozen and blended into the smoothie mixture, like you buy on the beaches in brazil. but i am still aging. maybe i need more sunscreen. haha. more proof people are suckers.

PEOPLE GET ALL OF THE FACTS BEFORE VOICING YOUR OPINION. MONA VIE IS SOO AWESOME THAT THE FDA WILL NEVER APPROVE IT BECAUSE THE FDA IS IN TOGETHER WITH THE ADA AND THEY WANT YOU TO GET SICK SO YOU CAN GET MORE AND MORE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS THAT MAKE U SICK AND SICK AND SICK. THE FDA DOESNT WANT U TO GET BETTER.

    • Posted By: lully2505 @ 08/06/2008 5:54:51 PM

Thank You! I am Brazilian, born and raised. People in Brazil (specially surfers) have been consuming acai forever. It is not a magical berry, it does not cure cancer, it does not make you younger. It is just a fruit, period. These people are able to create a hype in the USA to ignorant people who don't even know where Brazil is, much less what acai is. Stop trying to get rich quick and easily by scamming people. Disgraceful. It just comes to show how ignorant people can be. Retards.

I was born and raised in Brazil. I've had açaí in all it's forms, as juices, ice creams, with granola and so on.
I really believe açaí is good for you, as well as acerola, blueberries and all other fruits. What really bothers me is the the big deal people are making out of something so simple. Brazilians are healthy not because they have açaí , but because they walk, they swim, they whole grains and so on. Since I moved to the U.S. my health is been deteriorating, and there's no mistery about it. Too much coffee, donuts, soda, fries, and no much of exercise. I swear that if one try to sell that in Brazil it would not work. So people get healthy!!! There's no easy way, only the old fashion one that we all know. If you wanna spend all that and drink the thing, fine. Just don't blame on the fruit. Jesus does NOT come in a bottle yeat, and Brazilians have nothing to do with this!

Dear Mr. Dokoupil, just a few questions who are these critics that you mention "Critics call Monavie a "legalized scam" that benefits only a few kingpin executives,"?? Usually when you make a statement you back it up with resources kind of like when you named all the people who dispute have put their names out there endorsing the juice such as: "Jeff Bodine, J.D. Drew, Whitaker and Nafziger, Sumner Redstone" And second i thought it was kind of funny you mentioned the people at the top make the money, could you name something in which it doesn???t work that way? Lets see professional sports?? All the moneys paid to the top athletes. What about a typical job, does a starting out employee ever make more then the manager or owner, again no. How about musical performers, do you ever find a musical teacher or someone who is trying to get signed are they ever going to make more then a professional performer? NO! So why would it surprise you the people who have gone out and done the most work to get to the top make the most? Just curious.

Why is it that EVERYONE who is not in the MLM industry is so dissillusioned? Every company in the world is a "pyramid scheme". That is business, LOL!! The only people who are the "suckers" as it where are those who think we live in a world where they are entitled to live off the back of someone else. If all the people who complain about "pyramid schemes" would put that energy into producing a wanted product or service that "they" could make a fortune with! Thank God for the free market capalistic system our founding fathers created! Let's fight to get it back on track and return to the free society our founding fathers envisioned! Get the Federal Reserve (a PRIVATE bank) out of our country for good!!! When the people fear the government, it is tyranee. When the government fears the people, it is called freedom and LIBERTY! Vision group: You are so right. It is a common theme when one approaches another about a business opportunity that is part of network marketing the usual response is "oh another pyramid scheme.!". I f one steps back, corporate structures are pyramids - people need to open their eyes and discover for themselves.

I can't imagine eating berries with the same antioxidants on a regular basis wouldn't produce the same results....and it probably wouldn't cost the $150 a month people are spending on this stuff. Is it really possible for 1 drink to be a cure-all? If it's true, why are they so afraid of putting MonaVie up to the FDA standards?? Seems suspicious to me.

Have you heard about how fruits and veggies are being grown now? Are you kidding me? Pesticides and toxins in the ground that are being sucked up by the fruits in the grocery stores?

Ohhh Yes I am going to count on the FDA to help me just like the THOUSANDS of people who died fro FDA Appoved Viox. Please get educated the FDA receives MILLIONS from Drug companies each year. 12 of the last 20 FDA commissioners have gone to work for BIG PHARM after leaving the FDA KNOWLEDGE IS POWER GET SOME!!!!!!!!

I am a distibutor myself, and my only hope is that any one that reads this report will do there own investigation. Truely discover for yourself what is in this product, and what kind of health benifits can come from takeing this world class product. True it is not a drug, nor has it ever claimed to be. I hope that you would take the time to see what this product could accually do for you and your family. It will effect everyone diferently, some maybe not at all, but others will experiance a great change. The company isnt going anywhere so i incourage everyone to do there own research and discover the berry for themselves. If you think MonaVie, which is 100% fruit juice is a scam, try looking at all the people drinking Vitamin Water from the store. It has Acai, Blueberry and Pomagranate, Three of the fruits in MonaVie I might add. But in a 20oz bottle they have more sugar than a Pepsi and there is no antioxidant benefit from the fruits now because they have deliuted them with gallons of water.
Monavie is truly the way to get individuals including kids to get there daily allowance of fruit and vegetables, just chug 4 oz and your done.
I drink it for the long range plan. I want all the antioxidant fruits in the blend to keep my cells from aging and antioxidants destroy free radicals and eliminate them so they can't due harm like start tumors or become cancers. My long term health is worth $5.00 a day. Monavie is the equivalent of 12 fruit and vegetables daily. You can't buy the FDA requirement for $5.00 and look at the time you saved not having to prepare them. BOTTOMS UP!

  • Posted By: Adriana1234 @ 08/06/2008 6:12:11 PM

Posting comments gives the opportunity to opportunists to sell related products. OK, thanks MonaVie, again. Acai Berry has been considered for years and decades an amazing source of nutrition! Talk to Brazilian people. If Monavie were poison, someone would has done something about it already! I got informed before drinking. Questions? 305-205-1759 Only today (English/Spanish).

Folks, MLM companies are much more popular today than ever before with a shifting economy and more people looking for ways to work from home and avoid gas and daycare costs. Monavie is producing 1,000,000 bottles of juice per day! Do think this is just stacking up in garages around the world and that many people are deceived? The reason Monavie IS as good as it claims is simple. They have a patented process of harvesting all 19 fruits at their peek nutrional stage of growth. You will not find a comparable product in any store. Your super market produce is picked weeks before it is ripe or has any substancial nutironal value.

The company is VERY CLEAR about what independent distributors shoud and shouldn't say and they print it in black and white. This is a FOOD, not a drug; but it is one of the best nutritional foods known to man and there is science to substantiate this.

Monavie DOES give back to Brazil in a HUGE way. Enormous resources ARE donated to the children of Brazil and the rain forest are protected BECAUSE Monavie is there harvesting fruit. The rain forest supplies a great percentage of our earth's oxygen. Monavie has provided a better value for the trees existance by harvesting the acai berry than the poachers who wanted to destroy the forests all together.

Knowledge is power, people. sitting on the side of the road with the rest of the uneducated critics will keep you in the dark. The product was designed to provide long term effects and the compensation plan was designed to provide long term residual income. Dallin Larson is a man passion, integrity, and impecable character. Monavie is NOT a get-health-quick or get-rich-quick company. www.rnjinnovations.com

Well, let me just say, "the Acai berry is provided from God". God has provided everything we need for our bodies. Thank you Monavie, for providing God's Gift for us. You cannot grow this fruit in your backyard, let alone organically. Don't knock it, until you try it. Immediate results don't happen for everybody! Unfortunately, some distributors have let the money go to their heads, giving the company a bad rap. It is truly an incredible product and the glory should be about the product! "To your Health". God Bless.

Caveat Emptor - let the buyer beware!!! Schemes always sound so good when you are the one making the money and not the victim.Don't become one! There is nothing miraculous about acai and there will never be - EVER!

Nicely researched and well thought out article. Very informative and not sensationalistic in nature that panders to pre-conceived ideas. Now I remember why I canceled my subscription....

I have a few ideas for some more articles for Newsweek:

    Retail Businesses are SCAMS!!!
(Logic: 95% of retail businesses fail
Therefore, all retail businesses are scams)

    Google is a SCAM

(Logic: Google is a business enterprise that makes money,
Therefore, they are a scam and are doing something illegal.)

    • Posted By: herewewere @ 08/06/2008 6:07:26 PM

Yeah, Newsweek hit the trash pile long ago. It's sad that some still regard it as a reputable news source along with a lot of other mainstream propaganda. Instead of thinking logically for themselves, they accept this tripe like it's Scripture. I hope more people will wake up from the truth that is present in the comment section from people who not only understand how a business runs, but also have an understanding about natural health.

    • Posted By: CaveatEmptor @ 08/06/2008 3:19:08 PM

I'm with you here. Yellow is definitely the color of this news. It's almost as if these article writers intentionally contribute towards the dumbing down of their audience. Too bad so many people will waste their money and efforts to make a few scam artists rich.
