I'm holding a bottle in my hand right now and I have to tell you that this stuff is crap. Anybody that tries to extole the therapeutic virtue of MonaVie doesn't know the first thing about health and antioxidants in the first place. I say this because Monavie is preserved esterified fatty acids, potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate. True, antioxidants are good for you, but preservatives do essentially the reverse of what antioxidants do and are prevalent only because they save money for the manufacturer. You are better off just spending $40 dollars at trader joes.

I've been drinking Mona Vie for about 2 years now and I love it! It has given me more energy and I sleep much better. My boyfriend also reaps the benefits of less arthritic pain in hands and back. I never eat friut because it usually goes bad before I can. With Mona Vie, I can take 4oz. a day and full fill my daily requirements for fruit for the day. As far as not being approved by the FDA, Mona Vie is NOT a DRUG or MEDICINE,therfoe there is no need for an FDA approval.

I have a "friend" who is into MonaVie that I have known for almost 50 years (I am 55). He tried to get me and my wife involved in this. He told of the benefits healthwise and then proceeded to push the fact that is touted to do everything from lowering cholesterol to curing cancer. I tried the juice for two weeks and found no benefit. I didn't want to sell it so I told him the truth....I don't want to sell it, I don't like the taste, and found it provided me no benefits. I certainly wasn't going to buy it for $40 a bottle. My "friend" became indignant and incredulous that I didn't want to become part of this money-making scheme and take steps to "improve" my health (which is already excellent). He kept on pushing it on me for weeks and would bring up the juice in every conversation I had. I also found he had pushed it on a friend who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer....I haven't spoken to this friend in 2 years now. Point is.....this is just an over-hyped product that is designed as vehicle for people to make money....it's just a scam.....I might pay $5 a bottle if it was in the supermarket....Certainly, no way I would pay $40 from a pushy salesman, friend or not. By the way.....all these people touting the benefits of the juice....I would bet over half of them are overweight, drink, and don't exercise.....but according to the sales force "all you need is the juice". No thanks..

I'm thinking your friend was merely excited about the product and it's health benefits. He probably didn't realize that he was being pushy and pehaps he was indignant and incredulous about you not wanting to join because he was so excited about it's potential. And you definitely need to try it for more than 2 weeks - some people notice a difference within a few days - I didn't notice much difference until about 3 months.

It may not work for you but I know for myself it has helped with knee pain, sleeping better and no more allergies.

      • Posted By: ejriedman88 @ 08/06/2008 1:59:28 PM

First of all you have to give it more than two weeks! Most people don't say whether or not it works for them before a month to three months! It isn't a miracle drink! It is fruit juice. You don't understand the point behind Mona Vie if you are willing to say all these things without knowing the product.

        • Posted By: dsqard @ 08/06/2008 2:14:39 PM

Like you said it is FRUIT JUICE. Why should he pay $400 for three months of fruit juice that doesn't work?

  • Posted By: josephdavidhearne @ 08/06/2008 3:19:30 PM

I joined MonaVie about 4 months ago. I joined not to make any money, but, to have the health benefits. My thought was, "It is $100 a month and it is good tasting and heathy juice. If I am going to spend that much a month for juice, this will motivate me to eat better, exercise more, and feel better. If money comes to me as a result of joining than that a cherry on top!" I like it, my little boy likes it (he calls it Daddy Juice), and it is a good thing. COntact a distributot and find out for yourself. What do you have to loose? Are you going to spend $100 at McDonald's thhis month? Hmmmm, which is better? David Hearne

By the way, the idiot who wrote amway is a scam is just that an idiot. I suppose amway cheated you out of your home or something. Dont put stupid comments out, it makes you look like an idiot. So you drank 12 bottles of monavie and felt no results. I usesd to eat bananas for the potassium, guess what ? I never felt the potassium, was it there? your damn right it was. Doe you feel your cholesterol rising? do you feel your arteries cloggin? not until the heart attack occurs. stop being stupid. Im sure you work out every day and are in perfect health. I was once told by a frien that you dont dig a well when you're thirsty. You dig it before you get thirsty so you can get wtaer when you need it. You dont wait intil you are old and out of shape to try to get back in shape, you do it not so that later you are ok......Drink it now it might help you later, if not oh well what have you lost?

People seems to get really nuts when it comes to MLM business. MLM's are a difficult industry to succeed in; point blank. You have to be eager and extremely goal-oriented. The MonaVie juice is definitely not a medicine or has ever claimed to be. The fact remains that people do not get the nutrion they need from their daily intake of fruit. When you go with ANYTHING that your body needs to be healthy; your body starts to break down. Water is just as important as fruit and vegetables. Honestly, how many people get their 10-12 glasses of water per day? It's no wonder people have headaches, aches, pains, sleep deprivation, anxiety, diabetes, high blood pressure and the list goes on. As a society, we have no problem spending top dollar to put premium oil, tires, stereo systems, or buy the top of the line televisions, ipods, iphones etc. but when someone says $45/bottle to help your body be healthy?? Forget it!! This drink WILL NOT cure your diseases, it will not turn you back to being 25 years old. People need to get a grip and realize MonaVie is just something healthy for you. The acai berry does have great benefits for the body so if people have experienced great physical benefits from it; why be negative about it? As far as the business side of MonaVie, there are no guarantees in life. If you want something bad enough, you will find a way to do it. Whether it's through network marketing, working at Wal-Mart, or being the CEO of a major corporation. Although, I don't agree with everything Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki advise, they are both advocates of direct selling. I would consider then business savvy enough to know the difference between a so-called scam and a true MLM. You know what this reminds me of? The lady who created a website to hate and make negative comments about Rachel Rey. How utterly ridiculous is this woman? She has nothing better to do than to trash someone who is trying to make a go of her life and so what if Ms. Rey is a little annoying; I can tell you she is physically fit and not sitting her ass in front of a computer creating negativite comments around someone else trying to make it through life. As far as I'm concerned, if MonaVie makes you feel better and you love selling the product and sharing it with people; you go right on! It's the broke pessimists who will be creating hate websites about you when you are sitting on your yacht in St. Tropez!

      best comment so far. awesome.

Sounds to me this article was written based mainly on opinions, not fact. I would like to hear from Dallin Larsen himself. I bet he has a few things to add. And of the 900,000 drinkers, they seem to have no problem with the price of the juice. I see it this way, if you take care of youself now, you would be paying for your sickness later. Good nutrition counts, eh?

Wow, the comments run the gamut. First, network marketing is a legitimate (and overwhelmingly misunderstood and misinterpreted) business model. Read some of Paul Zane Pilzer (leading economist), David Bach, Robert Kiyosaki, and Donald Trump -- all whom have written about it. Trump & Kiyosaki also give a great example of what the "real" pyramid scheme is. (Hint, it's NOT network marketing.) Second, do your homework. I could choose McDonald's for lunch and spend the $ on unhealthy food or I could choose to drink MonaVie. I don't avoid McD's, but I don't go on a daily basis. I do drink MonaVie daily. It's a matter of cost-shifting and determining where you want your $ to go: health or death. Third, the lack of outrage toward other nutritional beverage companies is quite obvious. Personally, I think it's envy. MonaVie has a great product, awesome growth for a newer company, a solid corporate team, and a generous comp plan that rewards every single distributor who has the desire to take initiative and become successful. I have seen no other opportunity that compares with the generosity of MonaVie...and they keep improving it! Fourth, MonaVie made a decision at the company's inception to put their profits to giving back to the world, specifically to the poor in Brazil. I don't know--are there other network marketing companies that give on the scale that MonaVie does? If so, bravo! I believe you reap what you sow. MonaVie is sowing good "seed" and thus reaping good "fruit."

From my own experience, last year I drank Monavie for about 3 months. During that time, I did notice that my legs did not ache at night like they usually did. Also, I slept better. I had to quit because I couldn't afford it any more and did not want to become a distributor. I actually bought some on e-bay where is was a little cheaper, though. Would love to try some other, less expensive juices that are comparable to Monavie. Any suggestions?

Beachpjs, I highly recommend Passion 4 Life liquid vitamins. check out website: www.passion4lifevitamins.com/pamelademarco and read about it for yourself. This is not a juice product! It contains 175 vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. Good luck.

    Do the math.

The average salesperson is doing $1000.00.

    • Posted By: montoym @ 08/06/2008 3:14:57 PM

Not to mention that the $1 Billion figure was a cumulative number. Doesn't say that it's per year or anything, but cumulative. So, in order for the couple mentioned in the story to be making $1 million in comission each, that means many, many more have made absolutely nothing.

Puts a much different spin on the company when you focus on the "average" salesperson rather than focusing on the small percentage who actually do it successfully. All in all, typical multi-level marketing.

For a great product with many more health benefits, visit www.pulsateplus.com which is a sub web site to www.goldshieldelite.com and Goldshield is a MLM company that has been in business for over 20 years. By the way, pulsate pluse also has acai berries along with other excellent ingredients.

    Tony,

What an ignorant, biased, un-researched article. What happened? Did you sign up for an MLM company a long time ago and fail at it because of your non-existent work ethic? And, since failing, did you decide to focus that non-existent work ethic to write for Newsweek?

  • Posted By: nay8098 @ 08/06/2008 3:14:16 PM

I think MonaVie is a great product because it doesnt just include one fruit nor promote it as a cure all but 18 other fruits you will NOT find in grocery store. Less than 17% of Americans get the recommended daily fruit servings. Ever wonder why we have such high disease rates, obesity, blood pressure, and diabetes?? The reason issue is not whether it works but rather that we have people out there that absolutely need better health. MonaVie provides a cost effective, convenient, and better tasting way for people of all ages to achieve optimum health. As a health professional and distributor, we need more people who care about the welfare of others and not just themselves. If we as a society are going to improve our health, we need more to help promote better health and wellness. Get involved!

Check out my website www.gettinfruity.com to learn more about exotic fruits found in MonaVie and other products. You can also blog, sign up for my newsletter and contact me with your questions. Hope to hear from others that are ready to take a challenge.

If you would like to receive more information on Acai Berry you are welcome to visit my website. HTTP://www.livingmonavie.theacaistory.com. My web site can provide you with research information, and provide you information on the business side of thing along with the MORE projects. The MORE projects is very important. Yes, the juice runs around $ 40 dollars a bottle, which is about $2 to 3 dollars a day if you consume the minimum amount, recommend. My story is that the juice is providing the nutrients that my grandmother was missing at 88 years young. I do not claim it can cure, however my grandmother does eat the required daily recommend fruits ??? she tries but it never really happens. So if I can give her a juice that is low in sugar and approved by her doctor, who monitors her health on a regular schedule then why not. She loves the taste and feeling better. If I can help contribute to her wellbeing and keep her and my family healthy it is well worth the cost.
Don't wait. Drink it, Feel it Share it! You have to try it to understand it.
