If you attended the June meeting, then of course you know that the CEO of this company is unlike the typical corporate america CEO. Corporare america stresses the bottom line: work harder and get paid less. And of course in corporate america only the top execs. make the millions while they are working and even when they leave because of the golden parachutes they receive upon their departure!!
I researched this product for over 4 months trying to find something wrong with it to no avail. Monavie is one of the best products on the market. I'm wondering if the pharmaceutical companies helped you research your article. They certainly don't benefit from people feeling so great from one product. Go back to your eye doctor and have your new glasses checked. Try drinking the product for a month or two and then write your story. You missed the boat on this one!

The FDA is not required to regulate FOOD which is what Monavie is - wild and organic fruits which is healthy and good for you. No drugs. Perhaps that is your complaint, Mr. Dokoupil.
I have experienced nothing but integrity from this company, Monavie. From the management to the
various distributors involved. Has this country and our society become so jaded that it needs to bash a company that epitomises the ultimate American dream through relational marketing to help others and give back to the impoverished and ,oh my, beable to be in charge of one's own finanacial health? What is wrong with that? It is easy to be negative about anything you do not understand, Mr. Dokoupil. The challange is to be positive, who knows you might gain some wisdom.

What is wrong with selling juice?
Rich people pay tons of money for cosmetics and clothes while poor people shop thrifts. So what if they want to pay a high price for a juice that has more berries in it than any kind they can get at Publix?
Better drinking fancy juice than Scotch which has a comprable price!

So you are siting a FDA complaint against a Distributor in which MonaVie worked with the FDA in shutting down instantly. The 5 Red Flags report, so what does that have to do with MonaVie, or are you simply attacking ALL MLM companies.. As I asked in my previous post, send us some FDA, FTC, F-anything that includes MonaVie or Dallin Larsen. And by the way, you are KnowsBetter, I am GetYourFactsRight. Get your names straight when you post as multiple people.

          GetYourFactsRight,

I???m making the world know your company is under a review for a full year after the cyber warning from a year before. Standard FDA procedures when making unethical health claims to make a sale in this SPLIT PYRAMID business. That rep is not the only one who is making unethical claims. I would expect you would lash out against me and assume I???m someone else. Most you pyramid sales rep are that way. You only wished I was the same person. There are more people on this blog that know how unethical MonaVie is.

Most of the critics out their are ignorant to what the FDA is pushing down your throats. You are simply being brain washed by an organization that is controlled by lobbiests for the same companies that poison you every day with chemicals in your food that you eat and chemicals to cure illness. Think about it if the FDA is doing such a great job protecting the American people why then has the cancer rate now 1 in 3 and 1 in 4 dedie d
    4 die.

THE FIVE RED FLAGS of product-based pyramid schemes, or recruiting MLM???s

    1. Each person recruited is empowered and given incentives to recruit other participants, who are empowered and motivated to recruit still other participants, etc. ??? in an endless chain of empowered and motivated recruiters recruiting recruiters ??? without regard to (de facto) market saturation.

    2. Advancement in a hierarchy of multiple levels of ???distributors??? is achieved by recruitment, rather than by appointment.

    3. ???Pay to play??? requirements are met by ongoing ???incentivized purchases,??? with participants the primary buyers.

    4. The MLM company pays commissions and bonuses on more ???distributor??? levels than are functionally justified; i.e., more than five levels.

    5. Company payout (in commissions, bonuses, etc.) per sale for the total of all upline participants together equals or exceeds that for the person selling the product ??? resulting in inadequate incentive to retail and excessive incentive to recruit.

I am a new distributor of Mona Vie. My wife and I were asked to participate in a regional training event at the corporate offices of Mona Vie. It was an awesome experience and I am very glad we went to it. We were just as skeptical as most other people when discussing network marketing companies. I was even more so. I have been in the medical device industry for nine years; prior to that I was in the blood banking industry for 15 years. My experience in my daily job led me to be extra cautious about Mona Vie. However, I am a believer because I tried the product and took my time and did my due diligence. I visited the corporate offices, met some of the founders and even met the manager of the Regulatory Oversight department. I highly recommend this experience. There is an upcoming event if you want to go with me ??? please email me below.
We were all told the truth that your experience is yours and yours to share - THEY WARNED us against making false claims. The FDA warning letter is because of a single distributor that is rogue and not following company rules. I have worked in an FDA regulated environment for more than 23 years. I have managed multiple FDA inspections of facilities that I was responsible for. I am intelligent enough to recognize a scam when I see it. With Mona Vie, I am a believer ??? that is why my mother and my mother-in-law are both taking this product. Yes, it caused them to go to the bathroom more often initially, but now my mother is doing well and has good energy and sleeps through the night. Her arthritis does not act up as much as it did before. She has been on it for two weeks. My mother-in-law had similar issues with the bathroom, but her diet rarely consisted of any fruit and finally, she became regulated ??? without having to take stool softeners. Other results, I???m sure are forthcoming.
If you want to discuss this intelligently - please email me at best4us@xmission.com. I am happy to discuss this and review the facts that I have investigated since I started with Mona Vie three weeks ago.
    Thanks for thinking about it.
    Tracy

The cost of acai products is coming down as it enters the mainstream. MonaVie will continue with the momentum it has for some time, but it will also have to drop its price considerably. See www.acai-berry.tv

There is a sucker born every minute. Sounds line the same claims for Noni Juice and not surprisingly both companies are in Utah.

    • Posted By: LC08 @ 08/05/2008 9:59:12 AM

The laws there are not a strick, so pyramid schemes are setting their Corp. offices in Utah, just like Xango did. It's ok though, FTC and FDA are making their rounds on such companies. Also report to your Attorney General's office of your state of this scheme.

NO WAY??? WOW....oh wait.....A LOT OF COMPANIES ARE BASED IN UTAH....DUH...do your research.

Reputable group of scientists with published findings: How 'bout the Journal of Food and Agriculture? The most respected Journal doing research on food in the world, showing the antioxidant capacity and natural anti-inflammatory properties of the freeze dried opti acai that MonaVie has a pending patent on.....signed off by the worlds foremost authority on Antioxidants, Dr Wu. I am unsure how to attach that paper to this site, but will be happy to send it to you, "swienke" if you give me your email address. The double blind study that Dr Schauus and his peer did is also good. I have that too. :)

    • Posted By: LC08 @ 08/05/2008 9:40:29 AM

The Science is on the Acai Berry not the MonaVie juice. Big time difference!!!! There is no such studies done on the MonaVie Juice, otherwise we would see it in peer review journals. Once you have science on the juice and not the berry then the company has something to talk about. Otherwise, who would want to do science on a pyramid scheme product, with a bunch of disgruntle sleazy sales reps spouting off "CURES ALL".

  • Posted By: jelly @ 08/05/2008 1:33:22 AM

In a pyramid no one in the downline can ever make more money than those above them.. The distributors at Monavie pass up their sponsors all day long. You can make more money than anyone above you, so it cannot be a pyramid by definition. The science behind the acai is solid. The people that we have sponsored are all community business leaders, professional athletes, and other motivated individuals.

  • Posted By: LC08 @ 08/05/2008 8:30:07 AM

The owner is a Serious Scam Artist!!! Just look at his previous leadership skills with a overpriced Superfruit Juice Company called Dynamic Essentials that marketed a juice called Royal Tongan Limu Juice. He was happy to market and promote false claims for treating various diseases like cancer, arthritis and ADD, even after the FDA issued a warning a year prior. Since the company did not comply with the warnings, the company eventually stopped selling the product and its remaining inventory of $2,700,000 was destroyed under FDA supervision. FDA site on Dynamic Essentials http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2003/NEW00976.html

History repeats itself with MonaVie. http://www.fda.gov/cder/warn/cyber/2007/UTVokes.pdf This FDA Warning was issued a year ago for making health claims against Monavie. MonaVie uses 3rd party info for medical claims and people on posts and meetings are making false medical claims that cure health problems. FDA will keep a watchful eye on MonaVie this year after the cyber warning to one of it's sales reps. Since this FDA warning from a year ago MonaVie did react to the warning, by banning web sites produced by anyone below the level of Black Diamond to help clean up the claims. But did it stop? Go to Myspace, Facebook, blogs like this site or youtube to see for yourself. Then recently I went to a festival in my town in June and would you know it, 3rd party health claims mixed in with a tasting tent of MonaVie Juice and reps spouting off cures cancer and diabetes just to name a few. I took pictures and sent those straight to the FDA. I urge you to do the same so others do not get suckered into an overpriced juice that promotes a pyramid scheme.
Then there is another issue with the FTC. The FTC is starting to crack down on companies like MonaVie measuring the amount of sales to distributors compared to the dollar amount generated by sales to end consumers. Basically, MonaVie Reps cannot be all of their own customer in order to profit in the commissions. Purchasing product solely for the purpose of collecting bonuses and residual is prohibited. A minimum of 50% commissions must come from end consumers, customers that do not belong to MonaVie marketing pay plan, which is hard to do with a true binary comp plan and reps ordering 2 cases a month to qualify for their bonuses. FTC will hit this company hard when they make their rounds on MonaVie.

The Mainstream media will never treat MLM fairly. I have been in the Network Marketing ( Also known as Multi Level Marketing or MLM) Industry or 15 years. There are good and bad companies in every industry. I am not with Monavie and don't know about them to judge them. But they are obviously a very successful company - Jack Bastide - HowToMLM.com

You greedy sales reps all talk the same talk and scheme others into this overpriced juice. I was approached a year ago by a good friend of mine and he gave me a few bottles to try at no cost. I had the worst sleep you could ever imagine and could not stop going to the bathroom. I thought to myself back then as I do today. <<<<<< SNAKE OIL>>>>>> This juice has no standardization to follow and I lost all respect for my friend. He no longer does this business because he felt so bad.

      V8 = 1 serving per glass
      MonaVie = 13 servings per 4 OZ

      Can you do the math?

      • Posted By: Oneatatime @ 08/04/2008 9:56:19 PM

        I did the math....
I bought some V8 Fusion. I listed the comparisons below. Remember that we need 9 servings of a variety of colored fruits and veggies for our bodies to work optimally and protect us from inflammatory based diseases & to promote a strong immune system - (protection from allergies, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, bacteria, pathogens, arthritis, injury, etc).

Most of the fruits that are available are grown with toxins such as herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, etc. that speed the disease and aging processes. Unfortunately, they are also picked before ripening so they lack phytonutrients that protect our bodies from all these diseases. Mona Vie uses all organic and wild fruits without any fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or any heavy metals. They chose fruits from around the world that are grown in lush soil and picked after ripening. They also chose the most nutritious fruit from each color in the color spectrum to provide every single nutrient that is available for the body through plant form. The acai also contains omega oils, which promote healing and thus naturally reduce inflammation and pain.

There really isn't any similarity between the two product because Mona Vie is a whole food and contains Super Foods in it, foods that are extremely dense in nutrition. They are really in different categories. If someone is looking to supplement where they are lacking fruits & veggies, a whole food product will do that because is contains the fiber, active enzymes and phytonutrients that aren't available in a juice product - due to high heat pasteurization processes. Mona Vie uses a flash pasteurization to maintain those nutrients.

In order to get your full 9 servings of fruits & veggies.
        V8 Vs. Mona Vie
        4.5 servings Vs. 1.4 servings
        36 ounces Vs. 2.8 ounces
        450 calories Vs. 84 calories
        113g carbs Vs. 14g carbs
        104g sugars Vs. 8.4g sugars
        Sodium 270mg Vs. 14mg
        price $2.97 Vs. $2.35 to $3.64

        V8 Fusion Versus Mona Vie:
Serving: 8 oz. Vs. 2 oz.
        calories - 100 Vs. 60
        Carbs - 25g Vs. 10g
Sugars - 23 g Vs. 6g (Mona Vie is low on the glycemic index and is safe for diabetics)
        Sodium - 60mg Vs. 5mg
        fruit/Veg Serving - 2 Vs. 7
Phytonutrients - 0 Vs. thousands (destroyed in V8 with heat processing)
        Omega Oils - None Vs. Omega 3, 6, & 9
Active Enzymes - None Vs. Thousands (destroyed in V8 with heat processing)
Food Category - juice Vs. Whole Food
Amino Acids - none Vs. all essential & non-essential amino acids
        # of fruits in product - 7 Vs. 19
        colors represented - 7 Vs. 19
Containing whole fruits (skin, pulp, & seed) - No Vs. Yes
Cost per serving: 0.66 Vs. 1.68 to 2.60 (depending on quantity purchased)

Ok, so they even mentioned in the article, Geoff Bodine, Sumner Redstone, Jon Pappelbon are just a few of the VERY RICH and VERY FAMOUS people who are drinking this for their health not for the money because they don't need the money. I actually have pictures of the whole Boston Redsox team drinking Mona Vie and a picture of director Quentin Tarantino carrying his bottle of Mona Vie (maybe he is taking it to the FDA's office) Are you kidding me!

Obviously Mona Vie is making the news to the point that one of the largest magazines in the world is reporting on it. I LOVE IT!!! MY MONA VIE BUSINESS WILL SOAR NOW, THANK YOU FOR THE REPORT ON THIS AMAZING JUICE!!!

My whole family drinks its and feels the benefits and quite frankly I don't care what anybody thinks, we love it and want to take care of our health and bodies. Newsweek should report on the number of products that our goverment's offices like FDA, USDA etc has approved products that had to be taken back off the market not only because they are bad for you but in some cases actually killed people. Do you really think I care what these offices think about something that is simply 19 all natural, wild , exotic FRUITS PERIOD! What is their to approve...give me a break.

By the way I have personally never told anybody about any health cures, miracles, etc...I DON'T HAVE TO PEOPLE FEEL THE DIFFERENCE THEMSELVES!

Mona Vie is helping under privaledged children in Brazil by providing housing, clothing, medical, and
educational care....THAT IS WORTH AN ARTICLE IN NEWSWEEK ALONE!

I'm very disappointed in what I thought was a worthwhile magazine. Our economy stinks, our gas prices are ridiculous, we are in a war, we owe more money than we are worth, the corruption is running rampid and we are a few shorts months away from a historical election and they actually paid somebody to report on a health juice...go figure why we are in the mess we are in. I'm using Mona Vie to help my health and my finances so I don't have to worry about it.

I want to share Mona Vie with the world but those of you who think it is a scam or a scheme or whatever else please do us all a favor and never ever try this product because the people in my life that I care about and that are drinking this can't stand to be around negative, poor me, closed minded people around us...I will listen to the Sumner Redstone's of the world thank you...he is worth BILLIONS and you are worth what??

Sorry to vent but I just think this whole article was simply such a waste of time BUT my business is very grateful because just from this article I have signed up 5 new people just today.

Sure, I'm guessing its perfectly reasonable for someone dying of starvation to be able to afford a $40.00 bottle of juice to save them. Of course, if they had $40.00, I'm guessing they'd be buying food, but perhaps we shouldn't be using logic, it would defeat the purpose of getting rich from promising ill people a miraculous "cure".

    • Posted By: Oneatatime @ 08/04/2008 9:43:10 PM

FYI, you can purchase the bottle for as little as $21 to $32 by ordering more than one bottle and paying a one time membership fee of $39. If you can't afford something for $40 that is so good for you, how does that make you feel? Good nutrition is the key to slowing down the aging process. You can either look 60 when your 60, or age gracefully. People spend $5 a day or more to smoke cigarettes, drink Rock Star, buy their Starbucks, eat a fattening burger from Burger King... the value is what you make of it. If you are into your health, you will see no problem with taking care of it.
