As for all the people making negative comments about MonaVie below. You just don't have a clue. You are just like the reporter and don't know the facts. MonaVie put the science behind this product and they can back it up. Some people make claims that this heals and cures and they shouldn't. This is how I feel about that subject, . I believe it helps people with inflammation which causes a lot of issue within our bodies. We are very hard on our bodies. When inflammation is removed the body has a chance to heal itself and other issues within the body seem to disappear. The antioxidants and phytonutrients are powerful and the human body needs them. MonaVie isn't for everyone obviously but for those who believe in it and want to help change people lives would appreciate it if people would stop making comments about it being a scam and do your own research. Take a few minutes and really check it out. I feel better arming myself now with the best nutrition I can and thwart any possible ailment in the future. Spending $140 per month on this juice is better than spending thousands on a lot of medical bills. Someone below mentioned why they go through a MLM and here is your answer. Dallin Larsen decided that this product demanded a story be told. And if it sat on a shelf in a store nobody would know about the 19 fruits and why it's so important to drink. Instead of spending millions of dollars in advertising he put that money back into the people to promote it work of mouth. And I think he???s a genius. There are a lot of reputable people who are involved in MonaVie... anywhere from doctors, lawyers, business people, scientists, famous actors, famous athletes etc. Hollywood has even jumped on board..... We shouldn't have to defend this product but simpleminded people give us no other choice. I could go on even more because I believe in this product with all my soul. My advice is shut up if you don't know what you???re talking about and go research it.

I agree, MonaVie has changed my wealth and my health! I love this juice, and I drink it to ward off cynical people, beacuse they make me oxidize faster.

I am a Naprapath in Chicago Illinois practicing health and wellness, anti-aging and regenerative medicine for the past 12 years. I have used Monavie and all the other wonderfully powerful superfoods out on the market. I myself am in very good health and have yet discovered a little gem of a superfood out there that has even more tremendous health benefits that Acai, Pomagranate, Goji, Noni and Mangosteen, just to name a few. This miraculous berry is known as the Aronia berry and is native right here in North America. It has one of the highest ORAC counts on the planet and contains the most powerful phytonutrients out there. The powerful berry known as Aronia is is exclusive to the Orenda International Company. If anyone is interested in learning about the powerful Aronia berry you can visit my website at www.healthyagingdocs.com. We also have the very best compensation plan available in the direct sales industry.

Aronia is in MonaVie. 1. The MonaVie products and its açai have been validated through science:

      · The freeze dried açai used in MonaVie has been the subject of two published scientific studies

      · MonaVie Active (the finished product) has had its antioxidant capabilities supported by a placebo controlled, randomized, cross over clinical study (the gold standard in human research)

      2. MonaVie uses 100 percent Pure Açai (freeze dried and pulp)

      3. Our products contain freeze dried açai and frozen puree (pulp) that are processed within 24 to 48 hours to help maintain their nutrient composition.

      4. The freeze dried açai used by MonaVie is patent pending.

      5. None of the açai used in MonaVie is air dried or spray dried???these processes significantly reduce the quality of açai.

      6. MonaVie products are made under strict GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) established by the Food and Drug Administration

      7. MonaVie products are tested by independent laboratories to guarantee quality, purity, and freshness

      8. MonaVie???s açai is processed in an ISO 22000 certified facility to help ensure its superior quality

      9. MonaVie products are AIB (American Institute of Baking) certified and approved

      10. They are HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) compliant???another method implemented to ensure safety and quality

      11. Our juice products are made in a FDA compliant bottling facility

I was approached with MonaVie back in February. I was set against it - I've heard of these juices that make all these claims and believed they were all scams.

A few weeks ago I was approached by a friend I respect a lot. He told me it's doing some great things for him and he thought I should try it. I and my wife agreed to try it - very reluctantly. I thought this would be my chance to prove it's all hype. We started drinking the 2 ounces twice a day (my wife actually did 1 1/2 oz.). After 2 days my knees, which has hurt me constantly for several years, stopped hurting. I had a little more energy as well. My wife had a lot of housework to do in preparation of her mother coming in town for a week. Typically after doing even a moderate amount of housework she is very sore for 1 to 2 days and has to take breaks. She told me she didn't take any breaks and had no soreness later. I was shocked.

I went to a "tasting" a couple days later, and saw a man I have known for about a year and a half that has always had trouble walking and had a bad limp. He came walking up to me like he never had a problem. We were talking, and he saw someone coming in. He excused himself and JOGGED across the room to the door to say hi. I know this man and know that a year ago he would not have been able to walk the way he did, much less jog.

Since then, my brother has started drinking it. He was in a bad car wreck a few months ago. He says he feels a lot better since drinking it and has a lot more energy, as my wife and I also have. The juice turned me from being out to prove it was all hype to being a fan of it. Their motto is "drink it, feel it, share it". That is what I did and continue to do. To not share it when it's worked wonderfully for us I think would be wrong.

With any company, it only takes bad actions of a few people to damage the company (look at Enron). If a distributor is making claims, then it's them, not the company. We absolutely can't make any claims that it can treat or cure any disease. Nobody can guarantee that it will work for everyone. There's no drug that works on 100% of people. However, I can tell people what it's done for me and those I know. I also read the report done by an independantly owned company on the science aspect. They used standard scientific methods, and there was a documentable difference on more than 80% of the people tested. That in itself means that it doesn't work for everyone. It works for me though. I'm going to keep drinking it and sharing it.

    GetYourFactsRight,
Here is a link http://www.fda.gov/cder/warn/cyber/2007/UTVokes.pdf There is no denying that MonaVie is still on the FDA radar. Many companies have gone down just because a Sales Rep posted false claims about a juice the way many MonaVie reps are doing today on Myspace.com and Youtube.com . This must mean that MonaVie Sales Reps are in denial if you say otherwise. FDA standard procedures is that they come back to review a company for a full year on any medical claims after a they issue a cyber warning a year prior. Sounds like the FTC is also getting a hand on this company, because all the customers are the reps, which is another Violation in FTC regulations.

  • Posted By: GetYourFactsRight @ 08/04/2008 2:56:38 PM

    ----
Larsen, for his part, realizes that his sales team can get him in hot water with the Feds. A 20-year-veteran of the multi-level marketing industry, he left a senior post at another juice company in 2002, a year before the FDA destroyed the company's "bogus products" that were being falsely promoted to treat "cancer, arthritis and attention deficit disorder."
    ----

So isn't the fact that Dallin Larsen left a good thing???? And the reason Dallin Larsen left is that he was totally against the direction the company was heading. And by the way, Natures Bounty, a billion $ publiclly traded company was pulling the strings at that time.

FYI everyone --- My favorite ???comment??? to the Newsweek article (on the Newsweek site) is this one below. The blogger quotes the Newsweek reporter (from his posting on Profnet), who, after soliciting both good and bad MonaVie testimonials, had this to say:

    * I???m a reporter for a national print publication that's working on a story about MonaVie. Since I've already heard tons of positive testimonials, I'd be interested in hearing from any one who has had a bad experience distributing the drink. I can be reached at 212-445-4430. Posted by: news reporter | July 30, 2008 10:55 Many thanks.

I guess you only need a few negative comments to knock out the TONS of positive ones to get your story published in NEWSWEEK.

  • Posted By: Akmatic @ 08/04/2008 1:57:37 PM

Sorry, but it should be fairly common sense as to why this drink is sold in such a manner???on top of the fact that it most certainly does not beat back cancer, curb anxiety or control the symptoms of autism. You???d have just as good a chance at overcoming those afflictions via faith healing or placebo pills as you would with this drink and the same can be said about any other malady it???s said to cure.

I mean seriously???if it ACTUALLY worked as described, do you really think these people would basically be selling them out of the back of cars via a Pyramid Scheme structure? Of course not???at best this is a vitamin supplement depending on what those other ???fruits??? are and could be substituted via extra servings of fruit per day.

I am amazed at how simpleminded people are today! I read this article last night and was very disappointed in Newsweek to allow a reporter to write an article that was based on nothing but opinion. I understand the reason for the interest to write the article but there should have been a lot more research into what the product was all about as well as what MonaVie stands for! The integrity of this company is amazing and how they give back to Brazil is very unselfish. Never have I heard a claim that this helps with starvation. Did he just really make that up? I am happy to admit that I jumped on board back in February 2008 and have never regretted my decision. I personally feel better when I drink this juice. I also had inflammation in my knee that has improved a great deal just by putting nutritional fruits into my body. Plain and simple. The fruits we are able to get from grocery stores have little nutritional value due to the pesticides we spray when they are mass produced. If this reporter took just a little bit of time to talk to doctors or scientists about how important fruits are to the human body he may think a lot different. It's not rocket science that putting nutritional fruits in your body is a healthy choice! So why knock people who want to put the 5-7 servings into their body in a convenient method? As for his comment that he tried it for 2 weeks and didn't have any miraculous change to his body, how does he know that? Just because you didn't realize a change doesn't mean it wasn't working behind the scenes! Because it was! I sure hope Newsweek gets another reporter out there to really look into MonaVie and write a fair story about the product, the company and the people involved. I believe this is an amazing product and that every person should be drinking it. Will everyone, no they won't but give them the chance to make their own decision for their own reasons and not put false information into their mind. Shame on Newsweek!

Maria Fiorini Ramirez is, the Wall Street Journal named her the top inflation forecaster from 2001-2004. The Journal also named Maria as one of the top three economists for the year 2000 and named her the #1 economist forecaster in the first half of 2001.

Why is this significant? Well, Maria made the following statement about Monavie:

"Within the functional food and nutritional beverage category, MonaVie is perfectly positioned for exponential growth. I fully expect them to become the prominent driver within this category over the coming years."

How exciting to be part of a company who has been forecasted to be so successful by someone with such credentials as Maria Ramirez.

Obviously the author of this Article did not take the time to reasearch the product. If he had he would have realized that you can get the same benefits by eating 5 to 7 servings of fruit a day just like it is recommended by all the Medical journals. The problem is by us living our life in the fast lane we just do not do this. What Dallis Larsen and his team did was give the American publica means to improve their health by drinking two to 4 ounces a day of this Super Juice which is filled with vitamins and anti-oxidants. All of which is needed by the body to maintain good health. Let's look at the Health Benefits and forget the Hype about the money. What is your health worth to you? If you can significantly improve your health by drinking Monavie and get the same benefits as eating 5 to 7 servings of fruit a day would you not find this exciting. I do not think that there is a Medical Doctor or Nutrionist out there who would discount the benefits of this drink. It is not medicine nor is it a cure all. It is a simple means to get fruits high in antioxidants and nutrients in your system. Frank Hanna

just a scheme. Promise the world in a bottle, include an 'initiation' fee (lol) and bingo, you've got yourself a SCAM.

If you like the juice, and don't care about anything else, fine...drink you expensive juice. Just DO NOT deny that this is a 100% scam.

Another way to tell this is a scam is to look at the comments section here. Since when, in any industry to you have sellers ATTACKING those who don't believe or like the product. If your product worked, there would be no need to defend it at all costs, while at the same time berating those with dissenting opinions.

    • Posted By: Drinking&SharingTheJuiceForLife @ 08/04/2008 8:43:14 AM

Hhmmmm Scam to pay an initial ONE TIME start up fee of $39 a product directly from the manufacturer at wholesale. COSTCO,SAMS, BJ's wholesale clubs...WATCH OUT...they are coming after you next!!!!!! Run...hide....LMAO
Oh yes...and $39 one time fee to home based business...how many THOUSANDS of dollars does it take to start a traditional business? Are those bigger scams??? Wow..grow up or go educate yourself before speaking about stuff you have no concept of . Why are you so bitter and broken about one of the most reputable companies out there, is what we should all be asking ourselves. ATTACKING...noones attacking, just defending the truth...the facts.

I don't get the "malnutrition" thing. If you're starving to death, you apparently can't afford a $40.00 bottle of juice, or you'd have been eating and not starving in the first place. This isn't even a logical scam.

I'm so disappointed. I look to Newsweek for good, researched information. This article changes my viewpoint on what I thought was a respectable news outlet. I enjoy science, in fact, as a biologist, I crave science. This article was commentary, not research. Next time you are looking to do an article, I would suggest putting your personal opinion aside and do some research. If you put your personal opinion aside, you'll be amazed to find that you may not already know it all and you might just learn something.

Again, The FACTS are there!! Just be smart and not IGNORANT & go find them. MonaVie not only has the World leading Acai researcher on their board of directors, but also one of the top 3 World leading economists as noted by the Wall Street Journal, and many more reputable individuals. Amazes me how people speak without any backing to their accusations and othes FOLLOW. Wow.

  • Posted By: Drinking&SharingTheJuiceForLife @ 08/04/2008 9:36:57 AM

The 'USDA' clearly is recommending eating 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day (per person), along with physical activity, to promote good health! 'Oh', & the CDC ( Center for Disease Control ) is saying 'Fruit' intake is 'CRITICAL' to good health. Its also proven that just 4 ounces of MonaVie daily is equivalent to 9-13 servings of FRUITS & VEGETABLES a day! YUP..You heard right! Compared with people who consume a diet with only small amounts of fruits and vegetables, those who eat more generous amounts as part of a healthful diet are likely to have REDUCED risk of chronic diseases. Theres no claims there! How ignorant can you be when all the facts are there in black & white. MonaVie also has the World leading Acai researcher on their board of directors along with 1 of the Worlds top 3 financial analysts & economists, as noted by the Wall Street Journal! CULT? PLEASE! I could go on & on but we'll keep this short & sweet because we simply don't have time for people like this nor the bitter broken person writing this article with no FACTS backing their accusations against this incredible nutritional wellness product & company. To those of you educated individuals with any ounce of intellect, you know that old saying, an opinion is like an _-_ _ _ _ (fill in the gaps)...everyone has one....just go out and do your research and get FACTS. Dont listen to ignorant people like this. The bottom line is EVERYONE SHOULD if all else, BE drinking this product if they value their health & their families in any way at all!! Simple as that...WHY? Go do your research...No one will need to convince you of anything....just make sure you are getting your information

I understand the comments of those who fail to research in detail the content of their soap box. I believe the USDA claiming the citizins of the world need more fruits and vegetables in their daily diet to counter the ravages of the daily infusion of chemical laden foods and synthetic drinks this obese nation ingests every day. Getting 9 - 13 servings per day just drinking 4 ounces of a flavorful fruit slurry can help cleanse your body of the toxins that have been injested by your daily eating habits. The health benefits can be recognized by all. The healing aspects for the claims will be different for everyone who tries this product. 14 days or one bottle will not prove a true test for any product on the market. 60 to 90 days of use will lead the individual to make eductated decision on the continuation of this health drink. There are people who will claim this product has produced miraculous results, some who have felt no difference. All in all the long term effects of a healthy diet produce the same results in mankind.
Do the research and check the results from independent studies not associated to the company. I believe you will find true health rewards by following the simple suggestions, 4 ounces a day.
The MLM plan as the writer suggested will make millions for the aggressive. Guess what in any business the aggressive make money. I guess the writer of this article has reservations about todays economy and the health and well being of the nation. To many doctors, hospitals and clinics make millions of dollars each year and would lose money if this obese and poorly nurished nation we call the US would embark on a healthy life style.
Pass me a bottle of MonaVie and watch my doctor cry.

    From the FDA:
The number of unsubstantiated (and illegal) health and nutrition claims being made by manufacturers of products containing the acai berry is huge (and is being widely parroted by a gullible media). We???ll address only one here ??? that juice made from the acai berry is a good source of the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and provides the potential heart health benefits of those fatty acids. See Blooper #165 for another example.
First of all, FDA has approved a ???qualified health claim??? for food products with omega-3 fatty acids, but they ???must contain both EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids??? (which, technically, are not essential fatty acids). These are not the same as the omega-3 fatty acids found in plant foods, including (in fairly insignificant amounts) in the acai berry. In addition, even if the acai products did contain these fatty acids, a disclaimer would be required to ???qualify??? the fact that the claim is based on ???supportive but not conclusive research to show that these fatty acids are beneficial in reducing the risk of coronary heart disease.??? No such disclaimer appears in the marketing or labeling of the juice product (which can???t use the claim anyway).

Noones making claims...just bitter individuals falsely 'accusing' people of making claims. Read again....
