Anyone notice. Some (Rednecks) who can't respond intelligently resort to personal attacks.

This is not a true view into the south. This is someone looking for controversy and racism. You can find ignorance anywhere in this country if you are looking hard enough (even in Washington). I have livied in the South all my life and this is news media trash.

Here in Texas we saw first hand what a candidate like Obama can do as far as driving a racial wedge. After voting and waiting in line to caucus later that night we saw the two groups segregate themselves into racial camps for Clinton and Obama. After the Dems hijacked Clinton's delegates on June 3rd It's going to be near impossible for the party to come together. I'm voting for McCain out of spite for the DNC, plain and simple. I'll vote Dem in my congressional races and go with McCain because he has a better record when it comes to bi partisanship. Also who can refuse McCains theme song "Jonny Be Good."

McCain is just like Bush. Why would anyone want to vote for another Bush. I don't understand. McCain is the one turning this into a racial problem not Obama!

Has anyone actually heard what Obama's been saying lately??? He's back-stepping everything he was committed to seeing come to fruition. He said he wanted US troops out of Iraq and brought home, period. NOW he says, well, maybe I spoke too soon. They don't need to be in Iraq, they need to be in Afghanistan!! WTH!!! He said no offshore oil drilling. NOW he says, well, maybe offshore oil drilling would lower the price of gas. He is just a political puppet same as McCain. It doesn't matter who gets into office whether it be Obama or McCain, it will be the exact same thing. Besides popular vote never got the candidate into presidency. Why do you think Gore never made it??

the south will vote against this guy not of color but of substance. the guy is a walking flip-flopper. what you need yto hear he'll say it. now is that the kind of leader i think not. example. last 2wks. gas prices, thursday he said he would allow drilling, saturday after all greenies came out shocked he now wont drill, today his new plan is tap reserves problem is people with a brain no that is just grand sdtanding for fluff. he says he will tap 70b bbls. now america uses 20b bbls a day. we use his logic(not) it will last 3 days and require more oil to replace.the 70b. like i have always said the media who love this guy will not confront him on grandstanding and lying on a daily basis. he's like a puppet what ever is on the teleprompter he says, the guy is a empty suit. as this reporter does. that poor girl with her husband having cancer all she needs to do is get hospice to help. i was diagnosed with cancer hospice saved my life. i had a 90% rate to die. i had suicide mixes in my fridge that hospice provided for my last gasp.. i urge her to talk to them for the sake of your boyfriend. you vote for this guy your crazy everything he says is programmed and meaningless. if he wins iy will be a polar opposite. all liberals are like that. they are the 21st century socialists

    THE OBAMA NATION

Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality
Barack Obama stepped onto the national political stage when the then-Illinois State senator addressed the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Soon after Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate, author Jerome Corsi began researching Obamas personal and political background.

Scrupulously sourced with more than 600 footnotes (over 30 pages), THE OBAMA NATION is the result of that research. By tracing Obamas career and influences from his early years in Hawaii and Indonesia, the beginnings of his political career in Chicago, his voting record in the Illinois legislature, his religious training and his adoption of Christianity through to his recent involvement in Kenyan politics, his political advisors and fundraising associates and his meteoric campaign for president, Jerome Corsi shows that an Obama presidency would, in his words, be A REPEAT OF THE FAILED EXTREMIST POLITICS that have characterized and plagued Democratic Party politics since the late 1960s.

In this stunning and comprehensive new book, the reader will learn about:

    * Obamas extensive connections with Islam and radical politics, from his father and step-fathers Islamic backgrounds, to his Communist and socialist mentors in Hawaii and Chicago, to his long-term and close associations with former Weather Underground heroes William Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn, associations much closer than heretofore revealed by the press

    * Barack and Michelles 20-year-long religious affiliation with the black-liberation theology of former Trinity United Church of Christ Reverend Jeremiah Wright, whose sermons have always been steeped in a rage first expressed by Franz Fanon, Stokely Carmichael and Malcolm X, a rage that Corsi shows has deep meaning for Obama

    * Obamas continuing connections with Kenya, the homeland of his father, through his support for the candidacy of Raila Odinga, the radical socialist presidential contender who came to power amid Islamist violence and church burnings

    * Obamas involvement in the slum-landlord empire of the Chicago political fixer Tony Rezko, who helped to bankroll Obamas initial campaigns and to purchase of Barack and Michelles dream-home property.

NEW BOOK RELEASE: THE OBAMA NATION (Continued from my Post above)

      * the background and techniques of the Obama campaigns cult of personality, including the derivation of the words HOPE and CHANGE.

      * Obamas far-left domestic policy, his controversial votes on abortion, his history of opposition to the Second Amendment, his determination to raise capital-gains taxes, his impractical plan to achieve universal health care, and his radical plan to tax Americans to fund a global-poverty-reduction program

      * Obamas NAIVE, anti-war, anti-nuclear foreign-policy, predicated on the reduction of the military, the eradication of nuclear weapons and an OVERCONFIDENCE IN THE POWER OF HIS PERSONALITY, as if belief in change alone could somehow transform international politics, achieve nuclear-weapons disarmament and withdrawal from Iraq without adverse consequences, for us, for the Iraqis or for Israel.

Meticulously researched and documented, THE OBAMA NATION is the definitive source for information on why and how Barack Obama must be defeated - not by invective and general attacks, but by detailed arguments that are well-researched and fact-based.

WOW - when you "take the gloves off," you really take them off, and even toss them to the stunned crowd!

Being the religious person that I am, all I can add is "Amen"!

Chuckle. : Hey Davole, how are things going? Yeah, I have been doing my best to vet Mr. O. so that at least those people who are undecided will be informed and from there make their own decision as to who they want to vote for. LOL. It was worth the research I have done cuz we sure are not finding out abut any of it from the MainStreamMedia. Hope all is well . . . I am off to another article. :-)

Pound for pound, or in your "weight class," or even in any weight class, you can "take on", bludgeon, and defeat any contenders.

Again, I'm sure "in your corner" on this one!

There is a saying, that conservatives idealize the past, whereas liberals idealize the future. Southerners are bleaker than usual because they know down deep that the melting pot theory of society will only work right up to the point where there are no white liberals left to push that agenda. It seems that every step "forward" is literally a step further down the path of decay. Every point of progress offered from the left is just another piece of crud in a pretty wrapper. That we're being asked now to assimilate into our own country and learn Spanish, while the federal government turns its head and refuses to deal with millions of illegal aliens, only reinforces this sense of alienation. My sense is that the USA is going the way of the Soviet Union, and I can't think of a single politician on either side of the phony political spectrum that doesn't need to be clobbered and tried for treason. Balkanization is not the way to build a sustainable nation-state. Southerners are angry because they know that no one ever represents them, including that bastard GWB.

What holocaust is this Dickey guy talking about? The only one I know of happened in Europe during WW ll. If he refers toslavery in this country as a holocaust what about the current slavery in this country today. I'll bet he could skulk aroung the garment district in NYC and uncover all sorts of slave operations involving Central and South Americans. He could also go to the State of Georgia and investigate the private probation business which largely impacts poor blacks and is sanctioned by the state. Check out the current issue of Mother Jones magazine expose of the incarceration business in this country. It will make you sick.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I try not to let so called journalists shape my perceptions of history and current events. We might ask what hard data he can produce that qualifies slavery in this country as a bona fide holocaust a'la WW ll. In both cases they were and are engineered by the so called Christians, in this case it appears to be in Georgia. .

    The election is about race.
This election has been about race since the day that Obama won his first primary. The Dims made it about race. They turned it into a racial event. Obama plays the race card everyday. It's his crutch. He's an empty suit with endless BS lines. He talks jive and nothing but. McCain is a safety first guy. He's boring. There is only one thing new in this election: race. IN PEOPLE'S MINDS race will become more and more the relevant issue everyday until election day. And as time passes Obama will slowly lose more and more ground. And the Dims have no one to blame but themselves. When Whites go to the ballot box on election day the O.J. trial, the L.A. riots, Rev. Wright, bussing, afirm. action, etc. etc., 20 years of TV images of brutal crime, will run through their minds as they punch that chad. Like it or not, this election will become more and more and more about race as time goes on.

Please try to find modern educated southerners while researching instead of purposely searching for a few who can sell an article with such a ridiculous title as "Southern Discomfort." Then take a look around the rest of the States. Growing up in the south I referred to black friends as "friends." My northern relatives referred to them as "black friends." Although I am sure your editor would not have published an article about the southern United States that talked about how the northerners all want to vacation and retire in the south for the beautiful climate and easy, peaceful way of life. I am proud of the south for these qualities. For the simple manners, the slower, friendlier pace of life, the way you can wave to your neighbors on the way to work. This is why people love the south. Black, white, brown, yellow... Check the racism in your neighborhood if you are so inclined to keep bringing it up. You brought that question with you.
My worries about Obama? Look at the people who influenced him personally and politically growing up and the experience he has. Race, religion and color don't worry me. Political and financial stability worry me. I still don't know which candidate will be worse...

Just looked at all the poll numbers for the southern states and they are definitely McCain territory.

The Democrats have abandoned all the south stands for and we once again have Blue Dog Democrats caucusing separately from the Democrats in the House. If the Democrats do not find a way to assimilate southern values then the small number of Democrats in the South will be lost again to the GOP.

I was raised in the south and if people do not vote for Obama it will not be his color but rather his slippery changing point of view and his liberal background. Southerners were abandoned by the Democratic Party a long time ago and no we have not forgotton. We subscribe to standing for what you believe in and are a conservative people and with great compassion for the under privileged. Southerners know a carpet bagger when they see one. Nuff said.

This article was typical Republican FUD---projecting fear, uncertainty, and doubt. The author knows that his candidate is a doddering fool, so why not slam the other guy? The dead giveaway---using Barack Hussain Obama in the opening paragraph, a typical Repub scare tactic.

Why don't you media hacks just admit you are running interference to try to prop up your flaccid, worthless candidate and doing the bidding of your corporate masters? When can we expect to see an article telling us about rhe redemptive change Obama wants to bring us? Never? That's what I thought. You people are a disgrace to journalism.

The Sad Thing is, this article is right on whether anyone likes it or not! And, It's not just the South, It's all over the US!

I am sick and tired of the "southerners" reliving the civil war. Get over it. You lost as you so rightly should have. If you don't want to live in harmony with people of all races and colors---move to South Africa!! I am sure they would love to have you and I would love to see you leave!! Racism is for ignorant cowards!!

    • Posted By: scotts88keys @ 08/04/2008 9:26:38 PM

Ignorant cowards eh?????? Can you give me the percentage of adults above the Mason-Dixon line with at least a bachelors degree compared with the south? Oh, I'm proudly from South Carolina.

    • Posted By: scotts88keys @ 08/04/2008 9:22:17 PM

Move to South Africa????? Hmmm... When was the last time you visited South Africa?? Apparently, it was not recently. I have been there on several occasions with my work . There was a great sense of unity there, quite a nice place. By the way, apartheid ended in 1989( in case you forgot.)

After reading this article, I felt like succmbing to that ever spinning depth of despair. I was born and raised in the Far East. But I have seen noth the best and the worst of America. But real hope for America resides in the forward-looking commitment of its broadminded popolace to reach out for the best of the coming years

Everytime I hear Obama speak he talks a lot but actually says nothing, zero. He's the perfect shuck & jive artist. He's a master at it. The only thing missing is a purple suit, a pair of red Stacys, a large hat with a plume, and a half-gallon of Jade East.

  • Posted By: DavidLlan @ 08/04/2008 9:18:55 PM

A Southern City: Within two blocks of us in our middle class neighborhood there are Whites, Blacks, Latinos, and Asians. Just for balance, there is a Lesbian couple. All live in a fair state of amity - even the Yankees ;-) - one of which is the only one who still says ***. The author tries so hard to find the crazies that he does not see the South. An ill-concealed desire to get the Democrats to give up permeates this hack article. - David

With all due to respect to the "New Whites" in the South. Obama is as likely to win even one state in that part of the country as there is about to be a Christian prince in Saudia Arabia. Concede the South and focus on the West and the Northeast is Obama's only shot at this.

From reading these posts, it looks like history may repeat itself.

    • Posted By: CommonSense_Joe @ 08/04/2008 9:13:54 PM

You are exactly Right!! I am not Prejudiced, I will vote for Obama, but most of the South won't! (I'm from Tennessee) Obama's only chance is to Pick Hillary as a running mate!
