    In the Spring of 1975 John S. McCain was given an opportunity to redeem his Navy career. He was first named the 2nd in Command and then on to Commanding Officer (CO)of the Navys largest Air Squadron, a massive Unit at Cecil Field in Jacksonville FLA. At Cecil Field, they trained pilots and maintained attack jets called A7s. This was McCains first measured entry into leadership.

    That was part of his unorthodox HANDS-ON STYLE. John was not one to cloister himself away in his office on the 2nd floor of the Squadrons airplane hanger.

    Instead, on a DAILY basis he would WALK THROUGH the maintenance spaces, all the functional shops on THE BASE. He would go though the engine shop, the hydraulic shop, the fuel shop, the weapons shop - every one of them. He would GO IN AND TALK TO ALL the folks in the shops.

    I just think that he did a great job of making himself understand what other peoples jobs were and what their responsibilities were. . .

    In its heyday in the Vietnam era, Cecil Field was buzzing with THOUSANDS OF NAVY OFFICERS ENLISTEES, AND THEIR FAMILIES.

    You would have anywhere from 10 - 12 aircrafts in a pattern at any one time, doing touch and go???s
    We would operate from 7am one morning thru 2am or 3 am into the NEXT morning. It was a very ACTIVE BASE then.

    Cecil Field was John McCains last posting with the Naval Squadron, but one that would CARRY RELEVANCE today as HE LOOKS TO LEAD OUR COUNTRY.

                Your response was right on the money. I wonder how Ted Kennedy every got out of that mess he found himself in due to his own doing? I think he waited quite a while. . .few days? Before he reported it. I could be wrong. Does anyone else know much about this tragic event and how it unfolded? I was not really at an age when I would be dogging a story like that. LOL.

                  it was a big pay off to the police who investigated the accident the kennedy's were VERY powerful them ( they are now too but not as much as then ) mary jo was left to die in the car that he turned over into a waterfilled ditch he got out and went home and reported the accident at around 10;45 am the next morning the police arrived to do a report at aroung 12;00 to do a accident report for the insurance company the car was righted and thats when she was discovered he claims that he was giving her a ride home and forgot she was still in the car because he had too much to drink ! and that no sexual things were going on however it was later discovered by the coroner that she was not wearing panties and they were found in the glove box of the wreacked car !! it was a pay off !! google the story !!

      You say that John McCain left after a disfigurement of his (1st) wife after she had an accident? I think there is the need for some clarification here, albeit we agree that he did ultimately divorce Carol and marry Cindy who he ended up falling in love with and married her in the end 28 yrs ago:

      1. Yes, divorce is always a heart-breaking, painful experience for anyone to go through caused by whatever reason(s), let alone it also involving an extra-marital affair on top of it. No doubt about it. McCain cheated on his first wife (Carol). No denying that.

      2. I did not find any other affairs documented that McCain had when he was married to his first wife (Carol) other than the affair he had with Cindy, his current wife in the end.

      3. Just to set the record straight, McCain married Carol in 1965 (she was a divorced woman with 2 boys), and not even two years later, in 1967, McCain was on his 23rd bombing mission over North Vietnam when he was shot down and became a prisoner of war from 1967 - 1973 (5 ½ yrs).

      4. During the time when McCain was a POW, his wife, Carol, got into a very serious auto accident (in 1969).

      5. At the time of Carols surgeries and recovery, McCain was two years into his ultimate 5 ½ years of captivity in North Vietnam. She went through multiple surgeries (6 months worth), after which she had to learn how to walk again by going through physical therapy, which she did. As a result, she was able to walk again, albeit she was left with a limp on one leg. She is not totally disfigured. You make her sound like she looks like the Elephant man. LOL.

      6. Carol was done with all her surgeries and was recovered from her accident yrs. before McCain was released from captivity. In 1973 McCain was let out of captivity and returned to home to the U.S.

      7. After returning home, Carol and John continued on in their marriage (even though it was not perfect, they had problems) for another 6+ years until McCain met Cindy at a social event (1979) in Honolulu. And from there McCain went on to divorce Carol and marry Cindy the following year.

      Although, like any failed marriage, especially involving adultery does not reflect well on any spouse, it would not be a show-stopper for me not to vote for McCain in the G.E. I just wanted to let the real facts about his marriage be known, when she had her surgeries, timing of him leaving her, etc. What you stated, albeit sounds juicier as a story, it is in fact, not true as to how their eventual divorce unforlded.

    Ya know, limitless88, today using the term "redneck" can be considered racist. We Southerners are informed, educated people who very well may have 10 cars, 6 of them up on blocks, in their yard who are educated, love Jesus, earn 6-figures, build their own computers, hunt, and love his/her children. Yet, we can spot a true patriot vs a phony any day! Some of us even served our Country...and encouraged his offspring to do the dame.

    What in the world?? This report is ridiculous. The majority of southerners are not all upset about Obama--we are well within the know, and aren't all hung up on race. The people who are upset are those from the backwoods/redneck/podunk towns.

    I can say I have more respect for the southern racist whites because at least they will say to your face, "I don't like you N***** and I aint goin to vote for a N*****" I can respect that because they are being up front. You know where they are coming from. But I just can't stand for some people to say" I'm not going to vote for Obama because his is a Muslim" To me that is there shield that they hold up because they know dang on well they were never going to vote for a Black man period. If he was a Muslim (WHICH HE IS NOT!!!) so the hell what, is this not America? The country of the land of the free religion, freedom of speech where a child boy or girl, now white and black (and any race now) can really say I can be President of the United States. There are muslims in our military now fighting the fight in Iraq for our freedoms. You mean to tell me that its ok for them to give their lives for us but not to run for President of the United States. PLEASE GET OVER YOURSELVES! America in not America the white anymore, the better you get use to it now the better it'll be for you in twenty years when you are the minority. Keeping a white president is not going to change that. God Bless America!

    Can someone explain to me how we as common americans have allowed "professional" politicians to ruin our country? What happened to policiticians working for the good of the people. Listening to all of them slam one another and flip flop - makes me sick. Ya, I'm voting McCain, but he isn't any more "christian" or "jew" than any of the others. They all act the same. I will admit the dem's are a little more easy to spot at being unchristian, but its all the same thing in the end.

    Democrats have suddenly developed an interesting sense of morality. John Edwards has been banned from making a speech at the DemocraticConvention for having an affair and lying about it. Bill Clinton will be speaking in his place. and michelle's speech is so scripted that anyone could predict what was going to be said so much for being like you and me !! p.s. if they are like you and me then where the hell is my 4 million from last year ?

    Obama later admitted Keyes comment NAGGED him and has written or spoke about it several times, although he always misrepresents Keyes rationale as being about abortion support when it was specifically about infanticide support. In a July 2006 opinion piece in USA Today, restated later in The Audacity of Hope, Obama wrote:

    If I am opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all.

    Obamas faith has come into question on the campaign trail. Accused of being a Muslim, he has insisted that he is ROOTED in the CHRISTIAN TRADITION and has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. n fact, Obama has attended the largest church in one of Americas most stridently PRO-ABORTION denominations, the United Church of Christ, for 20 years. His church, Trinity, is located just five miles from Christ Hospital. Obamas pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, served on the board of Christ Hospitals health care system.

      It still amazes me that this is the same Obama that in the Warren forum said
      that deciding when life begins was "above my pay grade"
      yet it seems that deciding when life should end is not above his "pay grade".

    There are three general procedures of late-term abortions and partial birth abortions. The first and most popular is called D&E (Dilation and evacuation). Once the cervix is dilated, the fetus is removed by inserting forceps into the uterus. The Fetus is then separated into pieces. These ???pieces??? of your baby will be removed one at a time. Vacuum aspiration is then used to ensure no tissue remains in the uterus.

    The second procedure is early induction of labor. This is very painful and intense for the woman and is rarely used as an abortion procedure.

    The third procedure is called Intact D&X surgery. This procedure includes a 2-3 day process to gradually dilate the cervix using sticks of seaweed which absorb fluid and swell. Once this process is finished, the doctor uses forceps and grasps the baby???s leg to turn it to breech position. The baby is then pulled out of the birth canal, leaving the head inside the canal. An incision is then made at the base of the baby???s skull and the brain tissue is removed, causing the skull to collapse. The entire baby is then removed.

      Willnotvoteobama, I like your name.
      Actually, as I understand it, Obama did not vote to prevent stopping late term abortions.
      He voted to prevent babies that survived the abortion (the induction of labor) from receiving medical care that would allow them to continue to live. The statements he made, and these were played on CNN this week we that it was "too burdensome" to rquire the abortionist to call a doctor to care for the baby afterit was born alive. It was "too burdensome " to the mother . Obama doesn't say that it is too burdensome for the baby that dies a slow death in a dirty clinic or hospital utility room , alone and abandoned.
      TELL ME WORDS DON'T MATTER> the words of Obama. His won words!

    Its the end of the world as they knew it. Things are getting worse for the poor and better for the super rich. This is not always because their stupid its because man has dominated man to his injury. You think Bill Gates is rich ---- he not by the standards of the super rich. You have no real idea what the Rothschild's are worth because they want it that way --- in excess of 300 billion. You have no real idea what the Rochefeller's are worth because they want it that way in excess of 300 billion. Bill gates maybe 60 billion. Thats like saying the guy driving the pinto is of the same status as the guy driving the Rolls Royce. And remember Bill Gates drives the super rich dont drive they are escorted every where they go. Those who control all things political and economic are behind the scenes and they want to keep it that way.

      Lets expand on this because you hit something that most are overlooking because of flowery speaches. A certain candidate wants to make many things compulsatory. He wants big government to tell you what you can do, what you can't do. He wants to run your life because you aren't smart enough to be trusted to plan for your own future. Yes - he wants government to be in control, to take care of you. BUT, what people are missing here is that he wants to be in charge of that government. It is HE who is going to be the one to make your decisions. It is HE who wants to be in charge.... See any similarities to what was said in the above post????
