Yeah? How much did Oprahma take? Looks like the pot calling the kettle pink.

Obama still stands opposed to drilling until he has to change stance slightly to work with republicans to get some forward progress.
McShame does a 180 and is all about drilling from that point on.
McShame's on the take from big oil!!!
McCain is not that smart either. Obama is smarter. That's reason enough to vote for Obama and not McCain. McCain has no idea what he's talking about when he discussed the energy biz. He's just repeating what his friends who know Big Oil execs tell him to say. His whole platform is like that - it's not his fault - the GOP is suffering from a lack of mental accuity, intellectual legacy and sheer new (or any original) ideas.
Wrong, wrong, and wrong. McCain studies hard, and doesn't assume he knows everything, unlike the great Obamessiah. There are negative aspects to being smart, like thinking you are able to understand things with only a cursory knowledge of how they work. Obama's proposal to tap the strategic reserves is the most foolish thing a candidate has proposed because it is only those reserves which keeps the US from being in a position where we could be blackmailed by the OPEC countries threatening to cut off shipments to the US.
Obama only changed his position because he knows off shore drilling is a winning issue for McCain.
His claim that he would have stood against voting to authorize the use of force is so totally bogus. Look how he shifts when it is politically expedient. No way he would have stood against the public sentiment in favor of going to war in Iraq.
I read that Obama took $500K, compared to McCain's $1.3 mil. I'm not sure if that's true - it could have been from an unreliable source. But I'm sure he raised some money on his trip to Houston last week, and he did meet with some folks in the pipeline (gas) business who hosted a party at their house for him here. He also met with the local Jewish business community at someone's private home and raised some funds for his campaign, I believe. It was all in the Houston Chronicle.
Something the media continues to ignore:
Obama = Close friend of Reverand Wright
Rev. Wright = Close friend of Louis Farrakhan
Louis Farrakhan = Close friend of Iran's President
....Birds of a Feather, folks.
These are the people who will influence the White House.
Translation?
Obama spells the destruction of Israel.....War in the Middle East far greater than Iraq.....and this poor rookie won't even intend to do it.
wow you win the prize for "most off topic," congrats
Fundamentalist Christians and Zionist Jews spell the distruction of Israel, believe it or not. Obama has nothing to do with it. It will be the Fundy's who cause the Fundy Extremist Moslems to destroy the place, unless we're careful.... At least this is a theory of a friend of mine from the South, who is likely a Baptist.
So don't point fingers at Obama - he's got nothing to do with it. You think our churches in this country might be stirring just a wee bit of anti-Obama sentiment to "scare" folks into not voting for him - planting the seeds of mistrust, insinuating he's a Muslim, he's a spy, he's not American??? I think so. There are a lot of people in this country who apparently do not know how to read an array of literature that gives them different points of view, and then discern from that material their own position or ideas. I think a portion of these folks, well meaning thoght they are, are just relying a lot on what their neighbors and church-going friends think... A lot are very afraid to have an African American in the White House, especially one so "foreign" and "exotic" sounding - Barrack Obama - whooo-hoooo! That's a weird name if ah ever did hyeah of one! what the heck IS he??? A freak??? A Communist? An Alien? Illegal?
So we are very conventional in America and not really used to such a change. But change is coming, and rest assured, it will benefit the majority of us and it won't be so scary once you realize we are all just human beings -- and Obama is too, and a good one at that. Try in your heart of hearts to be Christian and accepting of those folks who seem different from you. Haven't you EVER been in the minority or made to feel left out - in your entire lives?
It's not that uncommon to be different!!!!
Here we go again. It's not racist to voice reservations about any candidate. And you have to admit that some very anti-american, anti-israel remarks have been made by the above "reverends". If you are so sure that everyone who is not on the obama train is a racist, why don't you put your energies into overturning the 22 amendment (I believe). That way he can be president for life and can get the experience he so desperately needs.
That 143 day experience thing, got to have someone to look up to.
Obama has far more well thought out plans for the major issues facing our country.
John McCain's plan for social security is "all options are on the table".
His speaks about international relations in broad, childish strokes because he doesn't understand the nuance of the situations in Iraq, Iran, Israel, etc.
His health care plan will do nothing to help the millions and millions of American's whose current health care plans will fail them if they get any type of long term health condition. McCain even voted against the GI Bill! He won't even stand up for health care for veterans!
Even though Newsweek failed to admit that Obama's entire ad was totally misleading, it is good to see that you are atleast TRYING to show some objectivity by reporting your intentionally half done factcheck findings. In this case, something is better than nothing!
But lets not forget the issue... Why Did McCain get much more money then Obama? Why would they favor him over Obama?
Forgive my double post and all those ??? I was registering for the first time and I copied and pasted from Word since this box is so small. Anyway, I welcome responses to my post from either supporters.
Thanks!
The question that arises from this article is why oil and gas company surrogates donate to both candidates in the first place. Why not just donate to McCain, or just donate to Obama? An undecided will see that there are some oil company surrogates who want Obama, and some that want McCain, so how can the whole issue of who is more in bed with the oil companies make any difference to an undecided? To me, the matter isn???t which candidate is more in bed with the oil companies. It's WHICH oil companies the candidates are in bed with. Because the whole issue of the production and control of this valuable commodity is loaded with complicated interrelationships involving public consumption and changing market conditions including the constant threat of market speculation, I think an undecided voter will have a hard time knowing which candidate to choose on this issue. So I think an undecided voter should look at how the Republican administration under George W. Bush may have been influenced by the oil industry in taking the USA into the pre-emptive war in Iraq, which many Americans believe is an immoral war, and which many people believe the oil industry surrogates and military industrial complex wanted for their own monetary benefit at the expense of 100,000 dead Iraqis and over 4,000 dead American soldiers, and then ask themselves: who supported that war? And who supports that war now? An undecided may see that this candidate is John McCain, who continues to support the pre-emptive war in Iraq, and a connection between John McCain and George W. Bush and the oil company surrogates that support them. For this reason I wouldn???t be concerned about the matter of who gets more money from the oil company surrogates. I would be more concerned about what these oil company surrogates hope their candidate would do, once elected.
I believe what our government did in Iraq at the apparent behest of the oil company surrogates, whether pressured directly or indirectly, was wrong. It was a terrible choice made by George W. Bush, and it was supported by the Republican Administration, including Senator John McCain. I think America will have a hard time recovering from this historically immoral attack. Barack Obama, forasmuch as he may be wrong or right about what to do with strategic oil reserves, has indicated that he does not support blood for oil. In that respect I???m with those oil company surrogates that support him, and so I believe Barack Obama is the right choice. The Republicans have had their chance when it comes to the commodity of oil. I think it???s time to let the Democratic Party have a crack at it.
Because of this issue I will vote for Barack Obama in November, and I encourage undecided voters to consider my reasons for supporting him.
Cheers!
Wait a second, hold on right there. Are you saying a political ad included some exaggerated figures? In America??? This is unfounded. Senator Obama has achieved a new low in campaigning and he needs to just drop out. Imagine, a political campaign using inflated numbers in an advertisement on the Tele-vision. What will they think of next. Thank you Newsweek for delivering the type of news that really helps direct this country to a higher existence. Losers.
Yeah, ads are not necessarily bound to report only the facts, unlike the news. Advertisements can make any claims they like, based somewhat in factual evidence, but they are allowed more "creative" leeway. There is a Truth in Advertising law, but I don't think it applies to political ads ---harharharharhahahahaha.... Not McCain's, not Obama's either.
Perhaps the Republicans could offer up their perpetual HEAT as an alternative energy-source: their hot tempers, their hot air and of course the GOP's most recent breakthrough--their hots for Obama.
hahahaha, good one, snort, chortle....giggle...
Wheb I responded eartlier, I did not know that Obama's $2Mil figure was attributed to The Center for Responsive Politics . I lloked it up. The Center is suipported by grantsfrom the Ford Foundation, the Pew Foundation, the Carbegie Corp. and the Joyce Foundation. Givng the well-established objectivity of these organizations,it is c errtainly understandable that the Obama campaign. I repeat> WHO ARE THE "
"BEST AVAILABLE SOURCES upon whom you rely? Or is factcheck.org, just another propagadizing tool like the Gallup Oeganization has been shown to be?.
What? Obama lied? Noooooooooooooooooooooo.
The American media has long hidden from the public the astonishing fact that as a long term US Senator, John McCain has only a rudimentary understanding of both domestic and national security issues. His petulant, spoiled child disposition makes him un- presidential. He is a reckless individual. A vote for him is a reckless, irresponsible vote. This concerted racist campaign he has now decided to run demonstrates he has no decency. In the last week, he has made it perfectly clear that his campaign is based on the rebirth of Jim Crow era politics. The incessant comments that Senator Obama is presumptuous, arrogant and/or cocky are all code words for he is an uppity Negro who can???t be trusted to know his place. Along with the constant red security alerts, which the Bush administration will start up within the next month, it wouldn???t be surprising for McCain-Bush to propose a national poll tax before the November election. America is struggling after 16 years of Clinton and Bush. McCain would be the final nail in America???s coffin.
Does this number include all the recent contributions made by Hess executives and employees?
Okay, People forget this is not the OIL INDUSTRY as a whole giving money to a canidate. It is INDIVIDUALS donating money. If you heard that a candidate was about to ream your industry a new one ( which is exactly what Obama is saying ) do you think to yourself, hey lets give money to the guy I am sure it won't effect my ability to earn a higher wage in the future. Or do you say NO WAY am I donating to that man, he is endangering my job for his political benefit appealing to a bunch of ignorant people by painting what my company does as gouging others...
The truth is that as oil comes down so will the record profits that these companies make. They add a percentage onto the price of gas. Not a fixed Rate, as more people move to more fuel efficent cars, because of the high cost, ultimatly the company profits are going to fall hard when the cost of oil ( thanks to new drilling ) does open up. To be honest more drilling = less profits for oil companies. You want to hurt them, let them drill, and go buy a hybrid.
