Comment: I don't think baptism has any thing to do with it. Being born of the water is physical birth. If baptism is a requirement, what about the thief on the cross next to Jesus? He told him "today thou shalt be with me in paradise.

If baptism isn't that important, then why was Jesus himself baptized? Jesus had to set the example for his followers. Besides, Acts 2:38 should explain this for the Church Age. Clearly being baptized is part of being saved. As for the thief on the cross, he was really in between the Church Age and the last of the Old Testament. Jesus hadn't ushered in the Chuch Age as of yet. The thief was saved under the Old Covenent because he had repented, and Jesus had seen his heart, which was genuine, so Jesus let him in paradise with Himself.
