Comment: I don't think baptism has any thing to do with it. Being born of the water is physical birth. If baptism is a requirement, what about the thief on the cross next to Jesus? He told him "today thou shalt be with me in paradise.
    --------------------------------------------
If baptism isn't that important, then why was Jesus himself baptized? Jesus had to set the example for his followers. Besides, Acts 2:38 should explain this for the Church Age. Clearly being baptized is part of being saved. As for the thief on the cross, he was really in between the Church Age and the last of the Old Testament. Jesus hadn't ushered in the Chuch Age as of yet. The thief was saved under the Old Covenent because he had repented, and Jesus had seen his heart, which was genuine, so Jesus let him in paradise with Himself.

Christ set the example of obedience to his Father by being Baptized. Just as we are to be obedient and be baptized. If it is a "requirement" then salvation is partly of works. I believe Christ, and the Bible teach salvation by faith in Christ, plus nothing and minus nothing. Then Baptism is a picture of the death, burial, and ressurection of Jesus. We show our obedience, and give the picture of the death and burial of the old man and the ressurection of the new..

Mr Omar: I wonder what qualifies Mr Obama to lead the best military in the world, or to face people who would kill you because of the color of your skin, or your beliefs? I know Mr McCain looked them in the eye and didn't flinch. I served in the Army for 221/2 years in countries you probably couldn't find on a map. Now both my boys are serving, one in Iraq, one in Afganistan. We serve because there are folks out there who are really bad, worse than your deepest fear. You cannot negotiate with them, they hate everyone who doesn't look or worship like them. They don't care who the President is, or what party he's from. McCain gets that fact, so he gets my vote. By the way McCain served about the same amount of time I did. What's your contribution to this Great Nation been? Spewing racist crap, hate, and stupidity?

Get up from your computer, turn off your TV, and get a life. Better yet, go to a third world country for a couple of years. If after that you want to move to Germany , France or Iran, be our guest.

    • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/11/2008 9:27:38 AM

Sadly, you have been completely brainwashed by the military (which, some might argue, is not the best on earth).

      • Posted By: Ret 1SG @ 08/11/2008 2:11:49 PM

No one who's confronted our Army in the last 30 years questions it. Join up, you might be suprised. Opps, that would mean you'd have to do something more than spout off. Bet you have bumper stickers protesting the war, and Free Tibet on the other side. Olny way people actually gain freedom is the same way our forefather's did it. It has to be won with sweat and blood. Something most of you will ever know anything about. You like poking the folks doing the sweating and bleeding in the eye while they do it. That's OK, I and my buddies defended your right to do that with sweat and blood. Some of them died, and I'll spend the rest of my days disabled, in pain, and on medications that will surley kill me early. And I don't regret a minute of my service, and would do it again to support and defend your right to critisize me and my way of life.

        • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/11/2008 3:59:11 PM

Presumably you served in WWII because that is the last war in which Americans fought to defend America's freedom. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, have been faraway wars of aggression, not defence.

          • Posted By: Ret 1SG @ 08/11/2008 8:04:23 PM

Really? Thought we were attacked, just like in WWII? Guess you don't think it counts unless it happens to you personally. And all wars are wars of agression, hence the name war. And Saudi Arabia and Kuwait asked us to help, and we did, in fact they were willing to pay us individually for our service. Thought that was nice of them since the democratic congress blocked our pay raises, and actually cut our funding at the same time. Because you can't or won't understand why someone else serves, is no reason to say they're brainwashed" on insinuate wethey'rere stupid. I did what I did because I love this country and think it is important to take the fight to the other guy before he brings it to my country. I guess you'd rather read about an explosion in mainstreet USA instead of downtown Bagdad. Cause if we weren't fighting them there, we'd sure be fighting them here. So, like I said before. Go someplace else and live for a couple of years, leave your computer and TV at home. I've lived on 5 continents. Leaving nice safe America will change your whole perspective. You'll gain a whole new respect for people in third world countries and their ability to survive and even thrive on less than you spend on internet service.. And you'll probably feel different about America as well. Oh yeah, we were confronted with agression while trying to save people in New Orleans, folks actually shot at us while we were trying to save their neighbors, same thing happend to my oldest son. Guess the Army was the agressors there too, huh.

When did Korea, Vietnam or Iraq attack the United States of America?

              • Posted By: Ret 1SG @ 08/11/2008 9:31:15 PM

And before you say it, yes I believe the Gulf of Tonkin incident was staged by the Johnson administration to give them an excuse to enter the war. But the legitimate government in Saigon (which was disputed by the communists) did ask for US help.

              • Posted By: Ret 1SG @ 08/11/2008 9:16:36 PM

Wasn't born for Korea, but as I was there a total of 5 years, they still welcome the US. As I read, as I said I wasn't born yet, but they're ligitimate government asked for US help. Again the same for Vietnam. I went to Afganistan to chase folks that Clinton could have eliminated no less than 5 times but failed to act. Eventually they attacked us. Felt the president rushed into Iraq this time, but noone asked this lowly old soldier. But, it isn't an accident that AlQueda operatives are killed captured there. And I would like us to win. I agree with both of my sons. We've enabled both Afganistan and Iraq to have free and fair elections, how do we now gracefully exit? It isn't as simple as everyone thinks. In the vacuum that's created when we leave the most agressive of the organizations will take over. Then we may end up fighting them here. They don't talk, they kill, and are very adept at it. It is ironic that both countries we're in now are countries we aided in the past. Until our country stops the policy of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" we will never be out of this type of situation. We've made a deal with the devil too many times, and are now paying for it.

Be you get all your information from the internet, books written by others, and TV. Like i said, get out more, it'll change your perspective. Have you ever been confronted by someone who wants to kill you while you were there just trying to help them? Bet not.

Why does Newsweak keep trying to convince people that Obama is Christian? He does not adhere to the basic tenets of the Christian faith no matter how often he calls himself a Christian and says he prays to Jesus.

Obama does not believe there is a hell, so how could Christ have died and gone to hell for our sins?

Obama does not believe that God would condemn people who deny Christ to hell

Obama believes that people can earn their way into heaven by doing good works even if they don't believe in Christ.

    • Posted By: wgoin @ 08/07/2008 4:44:22 PM

to pearsoncrz: What garbage are you spouting. You're not in Obama's heart and you don't know what he believes. At least he doesn't lie like you do.

      • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 08/07/2008 4:56:48 PM

I'm just repeating his own words, not judging him.

At the Compassion Forum, Obama didn't talk about his faith so much as he talked about politicians talking about faith, about politicians needing to "go to church" so they could connect with people whose faith is important in how they vote. "Religion is a bulwark . . . Somebody like myself whose entire trajectory, not just during this campaign, but long before, has been to talk about how Democrats need to get in church, reach out to evangelicals, link faith with the work that we do." Perhaps for him, Jesus is the destination.

As Obama said, his "entire trajectory...has been to talk about how Democrats need to get in church." It isn't about living in faith, it's about reaching out to those who live in faith. He appears to be one of those "big-city elites" who think small town people's religious beliefs and lives are stupid, something they "cling to" instead of moving forward and embracing change, and he said as much in that California fundraiser when talking with those left coast elites. His effort to get people talking about religion has certainly worked, but perhaps not in his favor.

???The nature of politics is that you want to have everybody like you and project the best possible traits onto you,??? he says. ???Oftentimes, that???s by being as vague as possible, or appealing to the lowest common denominators. The more specific and detailed you are on issues as personal and fundamental as your faith, the more potentially dangerous it is. The difficult thing about any religion, including Christianity, is that at some level there is a call to evangelize and proselytize. There???s the belief, certainly in some quarters, that if people haven???t embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior, they???re going to hell."

???I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell."

"What I believe in is that if I live my life as well as I can, that I will be rewarded."

Having served in his capacity as Muslim liaison to Barack Obama''s presidential campaign for no more then a week, Chicago lawyer Mazen Asbahi resigned from his position. Asbahi is a frequent speaker before several groups in the U.S. that scholars have associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

We know that Obama''s best buddy is Louis Farrakhan. We also know that his close advisers are antisemitic.
Now it appears that many of his campaign volunteers are muslim extremists.

Are Jews honestly comfortable with Obama as the Democratic Presidential nominee????

Remember this closet muslim sat quietly for over 20 years listening to antisemitic and anti-American hate sermons by Rev. Wright and did nothing.

    Is Obama the next Hitler???

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/11/2008 3:51:09 PM

Can you share how and when you learned that Sen. Obama's best buddy is Louis Farrahkan? For those of us who missed it, we want to be in the loop.

I admit it had not crossed my mind that Sen. Obama could be the next Hitler. Thanks to your heads up I am now on red alert for telltale evidence, i.e:, "Ich bin ein Berliner" and "Let them come to Berlin!" ala JFK.

  • Posted By: Mysty22 @ 08/10/2008 7:03:11 PM

Obama has so many links to terrorists, terrorist groups and to blatant anti-Semites that it is absolutely astonishing that someone of his racist, anti-American stature can even be considered for any government office let alone the highest ranking one, His followers are as hateful and as easily brainwashed as the Hitler youth. Yes, it is very probable that if Obama wins in November that we will see much more of his anti-Semite and terrorist friends... Voting for Obama is voting for a man who could be much more dangerous and manipulative than Hitler ever was.

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/10/2008 8:31:55 PM

Hussein's beliefs.....reading carefully reveals a lot....hmmm...let's look at some excerpts in this book....................

"If Obama wins, he will be the first president not raised a Christian"

"Obama spent his early years under the influence of atheism and folk Islam "

"Obama's step father was Muslim. He moved the family to Indonesia."

"In Indonesia, Obama would occasionaly attend a mosque."

"In Trinity Church, Obama was seeking a community of shared values"

"Obama isn't sure about a traditional view of eternal punishment "

And let's finish with a quote from The One......"A year ago, Nicholas Kristoff, in the New York Times, wrote, "???In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it???ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as ???one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.??????

Was it "one of the prettiest sounds on earth?" And giving you the benefit of the doubt, about truly being a military vet (and Thank You), Didn't you VOLUNTEER??? I have had many, many of my family serve, in the Middle East...Across the board...They want to win...DO YOU?...They despise Hussein...He voted against funding(only 13 others did)...And they all think he wanted us to lose...So do I.... He is WAY behind with Vets and servicemen. He has a near 0% chance of being POTUS.

        NOBAMA!!!

Yes, I did volunteer for the Army. I went to Iraq, even though I did not agree with it. Obama did vote once to not provide funding for the war, it is the only way congress can end a war. At least the had the courage to vote. McCain has not voted either way on the last two emergency funding bills. McCain was against the new G.I. Bill, but did not have the courage to vote on that Bill either. I support Obama because he was the only major candidate to voice opposition to the Iraq war from the start. At least he can say that he never voted to authorize the war in Iraq and then later oppose it.

          • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 08/10/2008 10:50:09 AM

raddave...Thank You for your service to our country. I agree that we should not have went in, under the pretenses we did. That said...we are there...do you want to win??? The damage of losing would be massive. Sen Hussein wants to legislate failure. The only motive I can see is this....for some reason he really wants to hand Iraq over to Iran. The man is a crook and a fraud. To vote for Hussein Obama, is to vote for turning our nation, into a shell of who we are. It will not happen.

I do not see us withdrawing as a defeat, we have in fact completed our mission there, remove Saddam Hussein from power and dismantle his WMD program, which Saddam had done for us. The Iraqi people, while happy Saddam was out of power, never wanted us to become an occupying force. I feel our continued pressence in Iraq lead to the destabilization of that country.

Omaar, are you even American? Omaar sounds like a middle east muslim name. Now since Obama did study that religion and did participate in that religion then he is muslim, at least to soome degree. just as i am part christian, part budist, part mormon and yes part muslim. religion really has no berring on who we should or should not vote for. I myself am going to vote for the man i think is the most honest and to date that is neither Barrak or John. i was all for Barrak until he denied being at least partialy muslim and until he denied sharing the views of Reverend Wright. Im sorry but you can not attend a church for 20 years and then claim you never heard that type of sermon or that you dont share that view. those comments are so anti American that anyone hearing them and not walking out immediatly would have to share the same view. and if thats the way all Black Christian raligiouse services are then no wonder we have problems accepting the fact that the white people we live with are not the same ones that owned our forfathers. I see the race problem everyday and i see it getting stirred up by us blacks more than by whites. we claim to have the right to call each other the N word becouse its a term of endearment between us that we have earned the right to use, but if a white man uses it he is a racist. let me ask you young black men out there when was the last time you went under the masters whip to earn that right. your great great great granddaddy may have earned it but you certinaly have not. get yourself an education and a good job and earn the right to be called Sir instead and you might find that not all white people owe you everything.

Elizabethpaige, regarding your question, I want the government to stop wasting our hard earned tax dollars on stupidity. The role of Government is to set rules and regulations to prevent individuals and companies from abusing each other while they pursue prosperity. But instead of doing that job properly, they allow special interest groups to talk them into wasting my money on who knows what. Our government has failed in it's job to regulate when you pay $750 for a windshield through your insurance company that you can buy for $150 cash. Our government has failed us when a hospital is allowed to charge $40 for a tissue to blow your nose. So to answer your question, I want our government to spend my tax money on doing their own job of regulating industry properly, and leave the running of industry to the people.

Pastor Hagee was Hounded by McCain for Over a Year and Joe Lieberman still Supports Hagee, wheras McCain Renounced Hagee.

Hagee who said The Anti-Christ will be Partially Jewish as like Hitler & Karl Marx, before them !!!

Hagee: On March 16, 2003, on the eve of the United States' invasion of Iraq, Pastor John Hagee took to the pulpit to warn of the coming Antichrist. In his sermon, "The Final Dictator," Hagee described the Antichrist as a seductive figure with "fierce features." He will be "a blasphemer and a Homosexual," the Pastor announced. Then, Hagee boomed, "There's a phrase in Scripture used solely to identify the Jewish people. It suggests that this man [the Antichrist] is at least going to be partially Jewish, as was Adolph Hitler, as was Karl Marx."

This "fierce" gay Jew, according to Hagee, would "slaughter one-third of the Earth's population" and "make Adolph Hitler look like a choirboy."

Hear Pastor Hagee's latest Judeophobic, anti-gay rant in this video, created by Bruce Wilson of Talk2Action.org

Hagee: Exposed here for the first time, Hagee's comments identifying the Antichrist as a partly Jewish Homosexual arrive in the wake of a furor the pastor provoked by describing the Holocaust as an act of God. Hagee's chilling sermon about the Holocaust prompted Sen. John McCain to reject the preacher's support, an unexpected turnabout after McCain spent OVER A YEAR SOLICITING HIS ENDORSEMENT.

Note: Days after McCain's rejection, I reported that a key McCain ally, Sen. Joseph Lieberman, planned to deliver the keynote speech at Hagee's upcoming Christians United For Israel (CUFI) summit. As the story exploded into the mainstream press, pressure mounted on Lieberman to withdraw.

But Lieberman stayed the course, declaring in a prepared statement, "Pastor Hagee has devoted much of his life to fighting anti-Semitism and building bridges between Christians and Jews... I will go to the CUFI Summit in July and speak to the people who have come to Washington from all over our country to express their support of America and Israel, based on our shared eternal values and our shared contemporary challenges in the war against terrorism."

GloryB, you said, "I know someone in Chicago and he told me it is common knowledge that all these so-called small donations Obama gets are actually funneled through regular people but actually comes from a few very rich donors so the crookedness goes on and on and on."

This is true of all political candidates. That is how they get the money. There are limits on how much you can accept from one source, so it is funneled through. Don't think McCain isn't receivng money the same way.

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/10/2008 8:50:30 PM

Don't tell us you believe a word anyone says in Chicago.

  • Posted By: matriarch63 @ 08/08/2008 7:19:31 PM

Why would anyone stay in a church if there are things said that you don't believe in? The pastor of your church should be speaking from the bible, not making his own comments. I wouldn't stay there if I didn't believe it. Makes me scared of him as a President. I am writing in Hillary Clinton's name. And so are 35 of my family members

    • Posted By: CalexanderJ @ 08/08/2008 7:25:19 PM

Are you saying you agree with 100% of things that are said in your church? Is your pastor infallible? If you don't have the reasoning to not blindly accept every single word that is uttered from your pulpit than you are a sheep.

Occasional errors in preaching are much different than sermons filled with hate for white people and the American Government.

        • Posted By: raddave @ 08/09/2008 2:42:29 AM

Rev. Wright never preached any hatred to white people, he did spew some vile things about our Government though.

          • Posted By: whala @ 08/09/2008 12:22:42 PM

How could you have missed all of his cracks about rich white people?

            • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/10/2008 8:48:57 PM

Do Rev. Wright's sermons resonate with fair-minded people? Oh, I guess you can't answer that.

I read this article with some interest. Then I read all these comments. To Mr. Omar: I'm sure you consider the Wars in Iraq and Afganistan Mr Bushes War. I remember reading that WWI was Mr Wilson's War, and WWII as Mr Roosevelt's War. I served for 22 1/2 years through 2 Wars and pefromed other missions in places you probably never heard of. Then I spent another 9 years as a civilian training warriors to survive and win on the battlefield. There are some ugly people out there who hate us, regardless of who our President is. I don't think Mr Obama really gets that. And I don't know about most of you all, but I prefer to fight wars on the home field of those ugly people. They have homefield advantage, but our soldiers can fight knowing their famalies are safe. Soldiers don't fight for oil, the president, or even the flag. The fight for each other and the safety of their famalies. I never heard of Mr Obama before a year or so ago, and don't know what qualifies him to lead the best Army in the world, or what has prepared him to deal with people who'd cut your heart out just because you believe differently than they do. Mr McCain has seen them face to face and didn't flinch. He by default gets my vote. Your sole contribution to this Great Country appears to be spewing racist crap, hatred, and stupidity on bulletin boards. You need to get out more. Maybe spend time in a third world country, then come home and thank God for yours.

If you did not hear of Sen. Obama before a year ago then you were not paying attention. This happens to all of us so I would not be ashamed.

      • Posted By: Ret 1SG @ 08/10/2008 8:41:02 PM

Not ashamed. Was busy where there wasn't much news from the American media. Definately wasn't in
Illinois, and when I got home to New Mexico, all we heard about was Bill Richardson. Bet you hadn't heard much about him lately till his bid for the White House. Since he left the Clinton Cabinet.

TWENTY YEARS ... TWENTY YEARS ... TWENTY YEARS with Pastor Jeremiah Wright.

Actions speak louder than words, but the Obama media toadies never give up.

Now they are trying to tell us about Obama's religion.

    Give me a break!

What church have you been to for the past 20 years?

  • Posted By: Puppypooh @ 08/08/2008 5:05:48 PM

I am what politicians and everybody else calls Hispanic or Latino, yet I will not vote for Barack Obama. Know why? Because his Jesus is not my Jesus. If he believes that Jesus is the Son of God, then he would be pro-life and would see homosexuality for what it is a lifestyle that is not in accordance with God's Word. I do not care how Jessica adorns it, he needs to be born of the water and the Spirit.

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/10/2008 8:29:49 PM

Is John McCain's Jesus the same as your Jesus? Does your Jesus say stay in Iraq 100 years or as long it takes to 'win' over there?

    • Posted By: raddave @ 08/08/2008 5:38:50 PM

Not all Christiand believe as you do, besides Obama has not had an abortion or been a homosexual, so he has not comitted either of those sins. You do not deicide who is a Christian and who isn't. Obama has been baptized, so he has been born of the water and the Spirit.

      • Posted By: ozman @ 08/08/2008 5:46:01 PM

Belief in Jesus and acting as He did in love, forgiveness, and mercy as a Christian...is not like walking up to a salad bar, picking and choosing which things you like and which you don't. Just ask "What Would Jesus Do!" Would Jesus perform an abortion or encourage a woman to have one? Would Jesus suck on some other man's XXXX? There.....dispute settled.

        • Posted By: GoHomeFascist @ 08/08/2008 5:54:06 PM

Since you know so much about the Bible and homosexuality, why don't you enlighten us Libruls as to what the Bible actually says regarding it? Or do you merely puppet Republican talking points at will?

      Wonderfully put, Pooh!

I love that picture of Obama with all those other radical, leftist preachers! Obama is a tire-gauge carrying idiot and everything he says and does if for political expediency ONLY! He only joined Trinity United so that he could begin to build a base of constituents who were as radical and leftist as himself. I want someone to come in here and say that Trinity United is a conservative church, but they never will...because that's not the truth.

Obama does not stand for the truth. He lies in order to gain votes so that you can give him power that he does not deserve in any way, shape or form. After only 143 days of serving in the US Senate, he announced his candidacy for President of the United States. That's true. He went to Muslim schools. That's true. He has a Muslim name. That's true. His limited voting record in the Senate proves that he's even more liberal than Ted Kennedy. That's true. He is a man without a pastor or church. That's true. He worked for ACORN. That's true. And the list for this inexperienced idiot keeps going on and on and on. He wants us off oil in 10 years. Okay...great! Just show us what incredible discovery that has just been made and will take 10 years to develop that will allow AIRPLANES TO FLY WITHOUT GAS!!! What a coody dumbbutt he is. He really gives me the willys!

      • Posted By: raddave @ 08/08/2008 5:51:24 PM

That same crap again??? Obama had 13 months in office when he announced his candidacy, He did not go to a Muslim school, he went to a public school. He doesn't have a "Muslim" he has an African name, yes, his middle name is Hussein, which is Arabic for handsome, he is named after his father, he didn't change his name as an adult ala Mohammad Ali. The "study" that claimed he was the most liberal senator was flawed at best. It focused only on 70 votes that Obama had cast out of thousands that he has made. It is the same crap that was said about John Kerry and Bill Clinton.

Can't you right-wingers come up with anything new?

        • Posted By: GloryB @ 08/08/2008 6:28:38 PM

raddave, you are an idiot! Obama Hussein did not cast thousands of votes, he only voted 30% of the time he was there which is really bad. Of course you Demos like to exagerate. Want to talk about how he is so full of himself he can't see straight? How about his comment that if his daughters got pregnant as a teenager it would be a punishment and of course there will always be Rezko, Ayers and Wright, three of the most anti-Americans around. As for the schools he went to, it clearly states it was a public school but it was a Muslim public school. Again, you Demos love to leave things out, change your mind and call it re-staging the facts which is what Obamonation does each and every second of his life. He would sell you, me, his mother, his grandmother, his kids, wife, anybody to be president. Are you really that blind or are you really that stupid?

          • Posted By: raddave @ 08/09/2008 3:04:17 AM

Are you sure you want to compare Obama's absentee rates with that of John "no vote" McCain? Actually McCain has the worst absentee rate for the 110th Congress, being present only 61.8% of the time and who has not voted on ANYTHING since April. This is the quote on what Obama said. "Look, I got two daughters ??? 9 years old and 6 years old," he said. "I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby. I don't want them punished with an STD at age 16, so it doesn't make sense to not give them information." He is talking about educating his daughters on the consequences of having teen sex. So who leaves things out and tries to "re-stage" the facts.

You righ-winger tried the same argument against the Clintons.

    • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/09/2008 2:22:57 AM

You have deliberately tried to distort Rev. Wright's sermon: i.e. asking God to damn America's systemic racism.

Sean Hannity attacks Rev. Wright ad nauseum. Yes, New York University dropout Hannity. Attendee of a Catholic Seminary who didn't get to be a priest Hannity. Hannity who can't hold a candle to intelligent, well-educated, patriotic, decent, personable, cool under pressure Sen. Obama.

Trying to disparage Sen. Obama,by calling him names is not working.

      • Posted By: Davole @ 08/10/2008 1:14:50 PM

        elizabethpaige -

If God were to damn Obama's alleged America's systemic racism. then Obama wouldn't have a leg on which to stand and base his campaign.

He always chooses to play the race card!

        • Posted By: elizabethpaige @ 08/10/2008 8:04:48 PM

Actually it is Rev. Wright who said God damn America (for systemic racism).

You make a point of saying 'alleged' systemic racism. Segregation and Jim Crow are not 'allegations, and affirmative action is not in response to 'alleged' systemic racism.

Don't you love how Sen. Obama is outsmarting bigots? I guess not, if you are one.

    • Posted By: raddave @ 08/08/2008 5:57:33 PM

Have you ever read the entire quote from Rev. Wright, or just the three words that Sean Hannity played over and over again? Rev. Wright did not say God Damn America and that was it. He was damning the American government for policies that he perceived as being racist.

Please. Obama's faith is to the BLACK "christian" church. I question the "Christian" given their hate message and obvious negativity towards whites or anyone else for that fact. That is NOT God's message, that is the vile rantings of Rev. Wright and his paritisans. AFter 20 years, it is difficult for me to believe Obama does not prescribe to these beliefs. Any other civil, decent human being would have been offended and walked out years ago. His community is his vision "The New Black society"....period.

    • Posted By: CaptJimH @ 08/08/2008 2:03:14 PM

How much do you know about the mainstream "black church"? How much do you know about Obama's church -- The United Church of Christ? I think some understanding of them will give a different impression than will the sound-bites served up by most of the media. Criticism requires some understanding and responsibility. Thanks.

      • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 08/08/2008 4:31:57 PM

The United Church of Christ is not a "black church". Obama belongs to TRINITY United Church of Christ. TUCC. Want to read up on their beliefs? Go to http://tucc.org/about.htm and read for yourself .

        • Posted By: raddave @ 08/10/2008 2:37:27 AM

Yes he did and it is affiliated with the United Church of Christ.

        • Posted By: CaptJimH @ 08/08/2008 5:18:42 PM

The United Church of Christ is the Denomination that was formed from the Congregational Church (the church of the Massachusetts Pilgrim) and the Evangelical & Reformed Church. Trinity is the name of a local UCC in Chicago. It is true that the UCC denomination is primarily made up of whites. (Which is neither here nor there.)

    • Posted By: notso @ 08/08/2008 5:53:46 PM

Native New Yorker: What could be more Christian than a message of hate? What, if anything, do Christians love other than more Christians? I am still waiting for a Christian to argue with me that there are 613 commandments, not 10, and that Christians break the first and most important one. Typical. You people believe in something you know nothing about.

    • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/08/2008 3:27:24 PM
