As long as there is a chance for a good "photo op" I think Obama will go for it. It's very difficult to imagine what was taught to him during his childhood(secular huminism,Catholic, and Muslim) would not have an effect on him in later years. I have also read in some child psycology books that this could be termed "layered learning" where one step of learning is replaced by the next and so on. In my humble opinion after listening to Rev. Wright and then to Muslim extremist, there is not a whole lot of difference except you sit in a pew and listen to Wright. I also think that Obama has done his homework as far as what is expected of a president(to a degree) :
1.Be a great orator( BSer)
2.Be a Christian( Hide your real beliefs and Q'uarn)
3.Have your picture taken with "real" Christian preachers( Where was this picture taken)?
4.Is that Louis Farrikan on Obama's left?

Raddave, regarding your statement about the separation of class leading to a weak nation, that is a symptom, not a cause. The strength of a nation is directly proportional to it's ability to produce goods. It is a general lack of productivity that leads to a weak nation. Our nation grows ever weker due to several factors, all of which reduce productivity. First and foremost, the balance between productive industries, and non productive service industries is completely out of whack. I don't have an actual statistic, but I would be shocked if more than 5% of every dollar you earn is spent on the actual production of a product. The first 25% or so comes off the top for taxes to feed our government which is a non productive service industry in and of itself.. I've seen estimates that on average 60% of the cost of products you use goes just to consumer advertisement. Out of the remaining 40%, manufacturers must insure themselves against litigation which is out of control. And then the cost of the materials used to make the goods you use are inflated because the suppliers have all of the same excess spending necessities. Then there are all of the personal non productive services, like banking and insurance, etc that we spend our money on.
Couple all of that with the fact that we have an increasing attitude of entitlement in this country. Working class jobs are regarded as being for second class citizens. People who work in productive industries are looked down upon as though hard work is something to be ashamed of. People in working class jobs are regarded as losers who didn't have what it takes to get a better job. Our kids grow up unprepared for life, and largely unable to do any real work.-

God knows I would generally prefer to be the last person on Earth to defend McCain on anything, but I dont feel his not being baptized is relevant. I consider myself to be a Christian in that I believe in God and Jesus Christ (and will not bore you with the laundry list of my religious beliefs) but I do not attend church services and have never been baptized.

It's scary when someone actually has enough courage to stand up and say "America is broken". He's not dissing the country, but where our country is going is in the wrong direction. I'm so glad that someone actually has enough guts to stand up there and scream from the hilltops the corrupted politics we've been living with for years and say it's not good enough for our country anymore, and we want a change. Our country will not survive if we keep going in the direction it's going.
And how quickly people are to judge things they don't know much about - muslim faith, having a childhood that's not "normal", not having a cookie-cutter political wife. However, we are all okay with our politicians having affairs on their wives (I'm not talking about just Edwards), financial stock scandles, having their family rig elections as long as they go to a "normal" cookie-cutter church, it's okay and we can look past those things? The fact that Obama is only a few points ahead of McCain is telling. With all of his superior intelligence and oratory capabilities, Obama should be wiping the floor with the old timer. You have to wonder why it is that he is not.
Aside from all of the concerns about Obama's loyalties and background, there is plenty about what he openly stands for to cause me to pass on him. I personally could never support a man who preaches socialism, and is certain to accelerate America's slide towards it. It cannot be successfully argued that socialism is a recipe for a prosperous Nation--It has been proven to fail time and again. Why on earth would anyone with half a brain want that? Now Obama is not only promising to lead America into socialism, but is already setting the stage for a united world socialistic order.
All you liberals out there are free to continue in your narrow minded view if you choose to dismis all of the warning signs and proceed with your blind faith in Obama's empty message of hope in the hopeless, but for me, I choose prosperity over socialism.
For all of you who refuse to believe that we are, in fact, sliding into socialism, just look at one statistic--currently, 1 out of every 8 workers in this country works for a government agency. At what point do you call it socialism? It's not like a big red light comes on when you become socialistic. Socialism vs Personal Freedom is a continuum, and we are sliding ever further towards socialism. To me, when 1 out of every 8 people are working to create bureaucracy and regulation, I would argue that we are much closer to socialism than anyone would want to admit, and the continued decline of our dollar shows it.-

The decline of the dollar is due to our weakened economy, which was largely done by the disastrous wars in the Middle East and the housing crisis.
Also, Obama is only slightly ahead of McCain because this country is full of a bunch of backwoods morons that believe anything they read in a chain email. I want the government to stop wasting our hard earned tax dollars on stupidity. The role of Government is to set rules and regulations to prevent individuals and companies from abusing each other. But instead of doing that job properly, they allow special interest groups to talk them into wasting my money on who knows what. Our government has failed in it's job to regulate when you pay $750 for a windshield through your insurance company that you can buy for $150 cash. Our government has failed us when a hospital is allowed to charge $40 for a tissue to blow your nose. So to answer your question, I want our government to spend my tax money on doing their own job of regulating industry properly, and leave the running of industry to the people.

But when you look at the whole picture over an extended period of time, the picture looks much different. Our country can only be as strong as the sum of the strength of our people. Why would I want a President throwing billions of dollars at health care? I want a president who will spend a few million to regulate the health care, insurance and legal industries, to finally put an end to the madness that causes health care to be unaffordable for the average American. Government's place is to regulate industry--not run it. The whole reason all you liberals are crying for a government bail out on health care is because the cost of health care has spiraled out of control due to the government not doing it's job. Thanks to our Government's faiure to regulate, our health care costs are inflated to 20X what they should be. Ever seen a $40 kleenex or a $75 dose of Tylenol on your hospital bill? If our Government cant even regulate industry properly, what in the world makes you think they could run it any more effectively? If they would do their job properly, we could all afford our own health care, and we wouldn't nedd a multi billion dollar bail out.

$40 Kleenex and $75 Tylenol aren't not the concern of somone needing life-saving chemotherapy, or an organ transplant, major surgery, an extended stay in hospital to treat 3rd degree burns and other accidental trauma. How much does it cost in the USA to repair a baby's cleft palate? Can't afford it so what, let the child go through life without it being repaired? It's not acceptable in the USA, who brags that it's the 'richest' nation in the world. American hospitals gouge patients because they can. The governments of Canada, Britain, Scandinavia, Czech Republic, examples I cited before, don't run the hospitals, they provide funding to run the hospitals and the governments regulate how the funding is spent. They don't fund $40 Kleenex or $75 a dose Tylenol.

Why is it that the Race card always comes out from the Obama camp and/or his supporters? I'm not voting for Obama because despite his superior qualifications, I do not like what he stands for, and I believe he will lead our nation further into socialism. He has promised to do so, and I have no reason to doubt his intention to live up to that promise. I personally believe that socialism will destroy everything that makes America great, and will fight against it forever more.

Yes, Obama is far and away superior to McCain in intelligence, talent and ability. Yet despite that, I cannot vote for him because I cannot accept the direction he plans to take the country. I find his socialistic agenda to be dangerous and destructive to America's prosperity.

Whala, with all due respect, please research socialism. It has more to do with government control (or sharing by 'the people) of the market, industry, and trade. Private companies are nonexistent in socialism, everything belongs to the people. Healthcare and education are things a government should absolutely provide for their citizens. Afterall, why do we pay taxes? Should the run WalMart out of business and control Wall Street? Absolutely not, which is not going to happen under Obama.
Also, during your research, you will find that America is actually closer to a Republic than Democracy.-

Obviously, the shift toward socialism is gradual, and I don't anticipate that we will end up living in Anarchy. But the minute we give the government the right to single out particular companies or industries to control their profits, that is a shift toward socialism. It has already begun with the tobacco industry, and I'm sure they will use that as a precident to steal money from the oil companies in order to give you your little $1,000 warm fuzzy that you will end up putting right back into your gas tank. But at least you'll feel better about it cause you got $1,000. How ridiculous. That's the same pattern that led us to outrageous health care cost, and now instead of fixing the problem (like $40 kleenex and $100 asperin), we just roll over, and ask the government to pay for it.
The reason the Dollar isn't worth squat is because 95% of every dollar we earn is wasted on frivolity forced upon us by ridiculous government spending, and non productive service industries.-

A government that' allows any hospital to charge $100 for an aspirin is irresponsible. Even rich people shouldn't be gouged. Civilized nations budget for health care. Britain, Scandanavia, Czech Republic, Canada, to name a wide geographical range of countries, don't expect a person faced with cancer to choose death or bankruptcy. Having a baby doesn't cost thousands of dollars for a doctor and short hospital stay. People do not mind that a portion of their tax dollars is spent for necessary health care.

Our dollar is weak because of the failed policies of he repbulicans. Do your research, when the Euro was introduced in 2000, it was valued at about $1.05, but it decreased to around $.90. It is now more than $1.50.

I know someone in Chicago and he told me it is common knowledge that all these so-called small donations Obama gets are actually funneled through regular people but actually comes from a few very rich donors so the crookedness goes on and on and on. Don't you think it unlikely that rich donors would give someone else money and that person would actually donate to Obama's campaign? I mean if someone gave me some money to give to Obama's campaign, I would just pocket it.

The irony about him leaving the church is that I don't believe he was ever a Christian to begin with. I went to the same college he did, Columbia University, and that was the most secular place on the face of the earth.
