Christianity preaches acceptance of others religion, yet these so called christian evangelicals have already stated that they will NOT vote for McCain if he selects Romney as a running mate. They give some BS reasoning for that, but when you cut through the crap, it's because they are so insecure in their own form of Christianity, that they are completely intolerant of other forms of Christianity. Yes these things are socialism, and Obama is proposing that we need more of it in the form of government health care, government sponsored higher education plan, and government controlled energy, etc, etc, etc. I'm simply pointing out the fact that our personal freedom (a lack of socialism) is what led to America's prosperity, and the more we restrict and regulate people's freedom, the less motivated our people become, and the weaker our Nation and our dollar becomes. You can keep your head in the sand if you want, but the fact that socialism destroys motivation and prosperity has been proven in every Nation that has practiced it. While I do understand that a certain amount of government is necessary to protect us from abusing each other, we are well beyond what is necessary, and more is not the answer.

Yes, I have lived 6 years in Gemany, and 3 in the Netherlands, 3 tours in the U.S. Army. Their standard of living is in fact higher than the average American's. A higher percentage of their citizens own their own house, they have better streets and highways, an effective mass transit system. Large Corperations and chain resteraunts do not control their economy. Crime rates are much lower, education sytem is better Higher education system is much cheaper, I could go on and on.

Most Christians consider the first 10 as mere suggestions, so what's the point of boggling their minds with 603 more? I am Christian, and am not completely familiar, but I believe these 613 commandments you are referring to are largely specific rituals given to the Isrealites after they left Egypt, and comprise the law of Moses. Christians who actually believe in Christ (very few in my mind) believe that when Christ was on the earth, he taught that he came to fulfill that law of physical rituals, and replace it with a higher law. This new law is not only to avoid sin, but to also eliminate sinful desires, and to develop love and charity in our hearts. Of course, Judaism does not believe that Christ was the savior he professed to be, and if Christ is not our Savior, the original 613 commandments contained in the law of Moses would still apply today.

By the way, I completely agree that most Christians routinely break not only the first and most important commandment, but there are only 2 of the 10 that are still regarded as wrong in today's society. Here's the way I believe they stack up:
1) Love God - Nope - They only pretend
2) No other Gods - Not hardly - Money is their God
3) Taking the name of God in vain - How I wish. Society would be a much more pleasant place.
4) Honoring the Sabbath - You're kidding, right?
5) Honoring parents - Not in today's world.
6) No Murder - OK there's one that most people still keep.
7) No Adultery - Oh, that's too hard... Wah, Wah Wah
8) No Stealing - Downloading music for free isn't really stealing, is it?
9) Bearing false witness - People are honest unless they can gat an advantage by lying.
10) Coveting our neighbor's property - What a laugh.
OK, I was wrong--many Christians in America principally only follow 1 out of the 10 Commandments they profess to believe in. Not a very good track record. The reality is that most Christians are Christians only because of the tradition. They don't actually believe in Christ or make any attempt to live the gospel He taught.

Most religions in their original form focus on being good humans and treating others with dignity. Last I checked, the constitution didn't specify what religion a person has to be in order to become president. In fact, I'm pretty sure it ensures religious freedom. Obama's faith is between him and his God, we are not supposed to judge others, remember it says that in the Bible?

That's so right. But tell that to the Bigots looking for an excuse to exclude the Black candidate, or the Democrat, because s/he doesn't support a pro-Life stance. "The Fetus Uber Alles" is their credo. The Fetus Over Everything, a la Nazi style.
