It is embarassing to everyone in American politics that a millionaire playgirl has a better idea for solving the energy crisis than all the politicians in either party. While both the Democrats and Republicans, but especially the Democrats, are sitting on their fat, partisan behinds, Paris has effectively said, "Gee, lets find a bipartisan solution." I never thought I'd say this, but perhaps Paris Hilton should run for President.

At least McCain has had an Energy plan in place (not just drilling, but alternative energy initiatives) for a few mos. now called the Lexington Project. While Obama was preoccupied ending the primaries, Obama used that time to establish his energy plan, which over the last month and moving to the GE I can see Obama mimicing. LOL

      JOHN MCCAINS LEXINGTON PROJECT.

      Highlights of McCains Energy Plan:

      * Expanding Domestic Oil And Natural Gas Exploration And Production

      * Taking Action Now To Break Our Dependency On Foreign Oil By Reforming Our Transportation Sector

      * Investing In Clean, Alternative Sources Of Energy

      * Protecting Our Environment And Addressing Climate Change: A Sound Energy

      * Strategy Must Include A Solid Environmental Foundation

      * Promoting Energy Efficiency.

      *Addressing Speculative Pricing Of Oil

DETAILS about John McCains Energy Plan:

I mean MCCAIN used that time (not Obama) to establish his Lexington Project Energy Plan. But I figure everyone knew what I meant. LOL.

Is it not embarassing that Paris Hilton, of all people, can conclude that we need a huge bipartisan effort to solve our energy problem while both political parties, but especially the Democrats, sit on their fat partisan behinds and refuse to do anything. Wow! I thought I'd never say this, but maybe Paris Hilton should run for President. It just goes to show that a playgirl millionaire has more integrity than a politician in either party.

Another totally biased article from Newsweek.
McCain has consistently supported the "all of the above" energy policy. He mocks the tire gauge thing not because inflating tires isn't a good thing, but because it is certainly not an alternative to the development of additional oil fields. McCain supports OCS drilling, nuclear, clean coal, as well as new alternative sources.
Obama, on the other hand, is against OCS drilling and against nuclear until he finds a magic bullet for spent fuel. Come on folks, solar, wind and bio fuels will not make us energy independant in 10 years. We also need new domestic oil fields.

John McCain's backers can't afford for the war to end; they're making billions off of their no contract bids to the military. Money that seems to find it's way into John McCain's war chest.

How is it that a handful of boobs in Washington are holding millions of Americans hostage while they angle for re-election. They are so disconnected from you and me in that their health care is paid for, FOREEVER. They get a pension FOREEVER for a couple years of service. They vote themselves pay raises whenever convenient. Anyone of them who is not in favor of exhausting all the possibilities should be fired at election time. Mr. Obama, please tell me how a pressure gauge is going to provide the petroleum that is used in manufacturing of millions of products. He should check his pressure, I think you're running on fumes. Forget Republicans and Democrats. Stop thinking that you are rooting for your favorite team to win, this isn't Monday night football. We are on the brink of becoming a hostage to foreign countries and ideologies. And as these foreign interests milk us of our financial interests through the purchase of THEIR oil, they will then be back to buy the hard assets of the United States for pennies on the dollar. Won't be long before we are taken down. Russia, Venezuala and others are watching Rome burn as Caesar fiddles.

Im sorry are we serious here? It doesnt matter who you choose or what side you are on with this. BOTH parties have not given a iota of real concern on this subject for decades. Its only now that we are being choked to death at the pumps that anyone even cares to see it as a problem. But do you see a single senator or congressman/woman giving up their 6 figure retirement bonuses we are paying for? Do we really need to send more people into space or even bother to explore up there at all? I mean we cant even teach our nations children how to read but hey we can spend millions to FUEL a shuttle into orbit. Fact is this... No one is really going to care until it truly effects them or their own. And right now most if not all of the people who are in charge of finding the solutions in this, or writing the bills or laws on it are getting too rich one way or the other to care about the little people who depend on them. I dont care about the sides or the the this and thats we give titles to for this crapola. We are ALL in the country and this is so much bigger that just some choice we have for the next 4 years... this is the future of our great nation and its going to crumble even further because we are too busy driving the carrige with the blinders on. For the love of whatever god or goddess you may hold holy... Stop seperating our country and find a solution for all of us for a change.... It would be a nice sign that things might be going the right direction for once.

You can voice your disgust with the handful of boobs by supporting a 3rd party candidate, such as Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, or Bob Barr.! They should definitely be allowed into the debates so that both Obama and McCain are forced to take clear positions on energy, among many others. visit www.votepact.org

I find it discusting that millions of Americans are held hostage by a handful of boobs in Washington. We should FIRE the whole lot and start over.

Excuse me, but McCain has clearly, consistently and correctly advocated an all hands on deck approach. Drill now, to alleviate prices as much as we can, (if nothing else it sends a strong signal to speculators which the Dems have been blaming for months), invest in research and development of wind, geothermal and solar technologies as well as expand Nuclear power, our electrical system, etc, etc. It is only Obama who is taking a piece-meal approach. Please give McCain credit for the wisdom and judgement to not only see the issue first, to speak out about it before it was popular, but also for having the correct approach that you call for in this article. McCain is the real deal.

Why do liberals like you in the media have to lie about the republican positions on issues, it's only Obama who is being an ideologue on the energy issue, I've heard McCain say numerous times that he is for everything and above on energy, drilling off shore, nuclear, investing in renewable energy, a battery, electric car, there has been no area where McCain has said he would not go for getting more energy, except in Alaska's Anwar, Obama on the other-hand is too tied to the ' Greens" to say he's for off shore drilling, nuclear, natural gas exploration, Oh another area where Obama uses political expectancy for policy , ethanol , where McCain is for taking away the hugh subsidies and the tariffs on foreign ethanol ( like from Brazil where they use sugar ethanol) that are driving up the price of food, Obama is all for the subsidies which is also why he voted for the pork - barrel ladened Farm Bill and why he won Iowa in the primary. Where McCain voted against the Farm Bill and the 2005 Energy Bill which instead of being a giveaway to farmers was a giveaway to oil companies, Obama "the reformer" voted for both those bills. It's quite obvious that one candidate stands on principles and doing what's right and Obama just wants to get elected.

We should definitely try everything. First and foremost is a long hard look in the mirror and the realization that we need to change our pathetic, lazy, and selfish lifestyles. Once we do that, then we can deal with what shall remain of our energy problem. No amount of ingenuity and technology will be able to overcome our sloth and greed!

We should definitely be open to everything. First and foremost, taking a long hard look in the mirror and then deciding to adjust our incredibly pathetic, lazy, and selfish lifestyle. Then, and only then, we will be able to actually attempt to solve what will remain of our energy problem. Because, no ammount of ingenuity and technology will be able to cure our sloth and greed.

semi trucks ,trains, barges, jets dont run on solar energy, wind power exc, what is the plan to replace these ?
obama reminds me of a dreamer withall these grand plans but no real way to carry them out.
Deposits of oil shale are located around the world, including major deposits in the United States of America. Global deposits are estimated as equivalent to 2.8 trillion to 3.3 trillion barrels (450×109 to 520×109 m3) of recoverable oil.[2][3][4][5]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_shale so why cant we explore this , and also the thousands of jobs it will create ?
oh thats why , because the democrats killed it .

Amtrak is a train......... which can transport 300 passengers between Bakersfeild to OAKLAND on only 20 gallons of fuel......... YES the train burns only 300 gallons itself but the 300 passengers take only 20 more gallons to transport them. That includes an Engine 4 cars and luggage. Rail shipments of goods are 1,000,000 lbs of freight for a mile on a GALLON of FUEL......... (winks)

      • Posted By: loriw @ 08/08/2008 1:42:50 AM

Problem is Amtrak has problems keeping the trains on the tracks. If the airlines had as many accidents we would have outlawed airplanes.

Re: "let's just try everything!" except apparently the most important unmentionable measure.

Border enforcement and an immigration moratorium, giving us some hope of someday leveling off our staggering population growth, would be the single most important measure we could take to bring long-term resources shortages and pollution longages under control.

Paris Hilton is the perfect VEEP for Barky Obama, stylishly reading lines their thinkers feed to them. Obama - Hilton is the dream ticket, no substance to get in the way of all that style.

I'm really tired of McCain whining about congress. He's a member of congress...where's he been? NOT VOTING FOR ANYTHING!!!!!

  • Posted By: DAT A BOY @ 08/08/2008 1:31:50 AM

hey, here's a thought. forget obama, mccain, hillary, and whomever. Just get congress to come back in session, amend the constituion, and allow bush to serve another 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. term----problem solved and we can all shut up. trust me, our stupid congress could probably pull it off. See----I can be silly too.

I think Paris Hilton has some good ideas and the politians need to sit up and take notice, she is not just a dumb blonde as reported in the media, she says to continue oil drilling and at the same time give incentives to the auto makers to produce more hybrids and higher gas milieage cars, asp. At the same time devote funds to the wind solar and other alternative energies, so we can make a start in reducing our reliance on oil from countries that are bleeding us dry. Good for you Paris, you are one smart gal!!!

    • Posted By: loriw @ 08/08/2008 1:26:25 AM

Do you REALLY believe that Paris wrote those words herself?
