Mr. Fineman is very intelligent - he used Paris to get his statement read. ( Very true statement I might add ). Great job Mr. Fineman - Hope the President and the hopefuls all read !!!

ha i saw the paris video and loved it. she'll probly get a lot of write-in votes. amazing that she can outline an energy policy thats better than the actual presumptive candidates.
The Preseident needs to declare a National Energy Emergency. The Press are just trying to muddy the waters and sell newspapers. If President Bush is interested in improving his legacy then he should sound the alarm. We Americans are ready for change so please show us the way. We need to unlease the brilliant minds we have today not after the next election. How many more American landmarks or companies need to be sold to the middle eastern countries for us to wake up? Where are our leaders of Industry, who has the balls to get this started?
Since we elect our Presidents based upon who we'd rather have a beer with, Paris definitely has MY vote. And a little blow, if I can afford it.
Last time I voted was in 68.Finally have a person worth voting for Paris in 08!
lmao
1. If we need oil so badly, Mr Fineman, why to we export oil???
2. How much oil do we export and to what countries do we export the oil to???
3. The energy crisis of the "70's was not caused by the "Araba" it was caused by
Messrs Nixon and Kissinger who wanted high prices for Iran's oil so that Iran could
pay for the billions of American arms they wanted the Shah of Iran to pay for.
4. During the so-called "Energy Crisis", I had a contract to sell 100,000 ton spots of
Saudi crude oil. No refinery in the USA, Canada, or Italy would buy any such crude:
I was told that once the crisis was over the oil companies (those great buddies of
Bush and Cheney) would not sell them any oil as punishment. One large oil company
exec told me my conctract with Saudi Arabia was better than a "woman in bed". But,
throughout the crisis I was unable to sell one drop while lines at the pumps just got
larger and longer.
Yeah, and this OIL CRISIS is to pay for the "DIRTY DEED," the Saudi's committed for Bush...can you guess what I am speaking about...how much do you think that type of job was worth and how someone who wanted something so terroristic done would be able to pay for that? THROUGH your gas tank.
Uh huh.
wow thats really out there, are you for real ?
also, we are not in a oil shortage, the price is up because of retirement fund investers betting on an oil shortage in the future. what i think will happen is the us will shut down the economy in persuit of "going
green " and saving out planet and the other contries china and india will keep on polluting and using up the remainder of the oil, and americans will become the new OMISH and greenies.
Great ,but the OMISH and peace loving hippies who are too cowardly to fight for their freedom will be easily
overcome by the petrol fueled tanks and bombers of our not so idealistic enemies.
Why give Pairs Hilton (or Britney Spears) more attention than they arlready get? They are nothing more than media hungry idiots. John McCain's ad together with Hilton's message makes him look even more out of reality than ever before. Humor? I think not. I think this man is really out of touch. Don't give Paris Hilton or John McCain further attention.
I think that it is simply time that we all re-evaluated what this planet means to us. I think that we should be trying and doing whatever it takes to save it. In that sense perhaps Paris is right (although I think she hit upon the idea accidentally--I don't believe intellect was involved).
Paris is a slut and an idiot. WHO CARES what she 'thinks' about anything???? She's no one special.
AS IF those ideas actually came from Paris Hilton. You know the people that work for her made it up and are being paid WELL now that it makes her look less like an idiot. Get a clue.
Arghhhh! Please quit saying Paris' policy, ideas, ad, etc. The ad itself was another person's idea and it just goes to show that a good writer and a teleprompter can make anyone look good - from a political candidate to a celebutant.
McCain, why did you have to put this person back in the spotlight????
Yeah, look what they did for a Do nothing Nobody named obama.
There are, supposedly, 18 billion barrels of oil "offshore". Oil is globally traded and globally, 18 billions is enough to satisfy less then 7 months of global demand. A DOE report predicted that it would take 2 decades of drilling in restricted areas to recover the oil and, at that, theimpact on fuel costs would be 'insignificant"
(from Elizabeth Kolbert). So, "off-shore drilling", while it will help a little - isn't really that important.
You may want to also point out that his was written by Elizabeth Kolbert, environmentalist author, contributor to TheNew Yorker, and previously journalist for the New York Times. Her quote of 18 billion barrels of oil providing 7 months of global demand is accurate, but not relevant. The whole point of going to get that 18 billion barrels is to for use domestically (also read as "REDUCE dependence on foreign oil"). 18 billion barrels of oil is enough for the US to run on for 2 - 2.5 years, which does not sound like much, but that is 2 - 2.5 years with ZERO imported oil. Cutting our current imports by 25% would make the offshore reserves viable for 8-10 years (once they come online)
Who cares who wrote what for whom? Let's stop bickering. We are in crisis, and in times of crisis what we should be doing and aren't, is come together as a nation of people. Let the politician go over in a corner and duck it out. This country can do anything if we just stop bickering.
My husband and I wanted to invest in a wind turbin-$30,000. That is what it costs to buy one. You can't even rent one. We wanted to build green, guess how much, not anything we could qualify for. Insurance companies won't insure straw bale homes (not comments please, look it up and than you'll realize how efficient they are.)
I've heard whispers of every day people planting their own gardens, turning the lights off when it's daylight outside, kids riding their horses to school. Each community, whether you live in a trailer, inner city, out in the country can teach your family to be as self sustaining as possible. Go to the library. There are a number of books that will help to educate each person. A book I'm reading is; Animal, Vegetable, Miracles
I just felt like I had to comment on the lunacy of the matter. You have very valid views. If real change is to occur, we all need to look at our situations and see what we can do to to improve matters. Live simply, live within your means, be kind to the earth, take advantage of education, teach your kids respect for themselves and for authority, be kind to your neighbor, focus your energy on things that matter...the list can go on and on. What happened to true American pride? Our American spirit can use more than a superficial facelift, it can use true grit and determination from its citizens to be the best we can be. It may sound corny, but there is truth in it.
We know Paris has people "BEHIND," her, that is the WHOLE point. Her family (THE PEOPLE BEHIND HER), are billionaires. ONce again, they understand the market, oil, finances, policy, and international relations. If ANYONE could fix the mess we are in, it would be HER PEOPLE...the people BEHIND her...how the hell do you think this girl got so rich???? IT was not the porn...get real.
Paris is so right! There are 100's of small R & D companies here in the US who have developed safe, viable and inexpensive alternatives from O & G. Most of them are urgently seeking funding, and are being scrutinized by venture capitalists and government alike because of the paradyme created by our consuming contentment and fueled by rich oil companies.
Foreign oil should have been a thing of the past in the 80's, and because it hasn't , we have become gluttonous slaves to our own narrow thinking.
A few companies to serious watch are RCW Environmental Innovations with Hydrogen fuel (no cells), White Buffalo Nation with a clean water production, system, and Laser Turbine Power Systems with commercial and industrial engines operating on mainly laser technology.

Deposits of oil shale are located around the world, including major deposits in the United States of America. Global deposits are estimated as equivalent to 2.8 trillion to 3.3 trillion barrels (450×109 to 520×109 m3) of recoverable oil.[2][3][4][5]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_shale so why cant we explore this , and also the thousands of jobs it will create ?
oh thats why , because the democrats killed it .

I have heard that Bush had at one time, the ability to drill off-shore in Cuban waters. Instead of jumping on it, he said, "NO." So who do you think is drilling twenty miuntes south of Miami? The Arabs...now how smart was that?
McCain over 40% in the polls indicates me that the United States deserves Paris Hilton as US president. Indeed, as usual in our country, the president doesn't take any important decision.
Go Paris...I tell you what...Paris Hilton is no dummy. It takes balls, brains, and true grit to remain in the spotlight without true talent.
In addition, with Paris you get her entrorage of men and women who helped build (And continue to keep), the Hilton fortune. They know business, they know customer service, publicity, the stock market...what else do you want in a president?
Between Paris, "NO-bama," and McOldie, my vote is for Paris.
McCain over 40% in the polls indicates me that American deserves Paris as US president. Indeed, as usually in Washington, she wont govern.
