Actually, her position is pretty close to McCain's, limited drilling (not close to shore) to give us time to develop other sources. Hydro is already at its maximum utilization in the USA, other habitats could be affected by more / larger dams. Wind and solar are good by not dependable; wind doesn't always blow and we need still need power after sunset. We need nuclear and we NEED to reprocess spent nuclear fuel like the Europeans. With reprocessing, the final waste is short lived and we don't need Yucca Mountain. (See again the Europeans) The Carter Administration cancelled reprocessing development in the USA and we've never gotten back on track. Instead, the Europeans have taken the lead in this area. With Large amounts of electrical energy available, we can create the high density bio or synthetic fuels needed to transport goods and people effeciently.

ok look at huffingtonpostdotcom and you will see that obama has more donations from oil then mccain,
and suprisingly from oil employees. makes me wonder why oil employees would donate to a candidate
who would bankrupt and promote goverment takover of their livelihood ?

Hellabob, I think most (99.9%) people know that Paris Hilton did not in fact come up with that. And so what if some people do. She's not running for President. I don't think we hacve to worry about that anytime soon (or ever).

Don`t give Paris all the credit, we all know what she said., merly repeating what everyone else had said., what do you want Obama to do, tell all us citizens to start drilling in their back yard, wake up and smell the flowers, this piece of info is very worthy of adoption, its somthing we can all do., you got a problem with that.....

until individuals put thei money where there mouth is and go out and buy that solar panel for their house,
grow corn in their backyard and distill for their car and so on and so forth, the answer will be to drill for more oil because the individual american is usually too lazy to mow their lawn !!!

I've been saying the same cotton picking thing for 20 years! This actually annoys me that some skinny rich brat who has never had to worry about a dime is the one who gets you people off your butts!
As for Americans whining about the price of fuel, people in the United Kingdom are paying the same thing.. only it's for a LITER not a GALLON.
As for the person with the algea pond, why did they stop using it for a power source? Maybe the city/community needs to see about resurecting the turbines? Why were the turbines taken out?
And ... we all need to quit depending on the government to solve our problems.. they just us make more troubles and raise our taxes to while they are at it.

The sooner we can get this oil monkey off our back the better. Arguing will not do it. Oil will remain a valuable resource for a large part of the world in the forseeable future, but we can be an exporter instead of an importer if we can work together and move toward alternatives like hydrogen. The byproduct of using hydrogen is water. Can you imagine the impact on the environment when 25 or 50 percent of our engines are converted to this fuel?

More Drilling will produce more gas and diesel for our cars, but it also will give the American people the money in their pockets to keep the economy growing. Also without a constant source of cheap oil, everything plastic in your home will have to be made with something else. Now after those last few words of my previous sentence, everyone will say, "Yes we need something else" I ask, "What is there"? It takes a lot of fuel and fertilizer to make alternative Bio-fuels and plastics from plants. That is the only alternative according to the Democrats. We can't use coal, we can't get our electricity from Nuclear, we can't drill, we can't..... The Democratic party is the party of "we would like something new, but we can't get there without someone magically making something new that is non polluting". Well, there isn't anything that doesn't affect something else in this world. Hydro dams affect the environment about as much as CO2 emissions. We can't drill here, but China and Cuba can drill 50 miles off the shore of Florida. We can't have Nuclear, but France gets about 85% from Nuclear reactors safely. We can't use coal, but we ship train loads nose to tail out to the ports on the west coast to ship to China and India. We not only give our money away for oil resources, we also send our own resources to other countries that could give a care less about pollution. This is just wrong.
We have enough coal and Oil in America to make as much fuel and plastic as we need cheaply. We can clean it up if we want.

Pride and politics will destroy this country. These politicians (McCain, Obama, and Pelosi) won't take Paris' suggestion, eventhough she is right. They are not true LEADERs, they are politicians. Leaders need to have some humility to learn when they are wrong, or a better solution surfaces.
