Plans for Clinton convention rallies intensify
The Hill By Bob Cusack 08/10/2008

Frustrated supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) are planning multiple rallies at the Democratic convention in Denver, coupled with television and print advertisements.

The disenchanted Democrats want to express their disappointment with the party???s presidential primary process.

The Denver Group, formed a couple of months ago by two Clinton backers, says it has filmed a television commercial and is looking to air it soon. The fledgling group adds that it has received such a strong response to its scheduled Aug. 26 reception in Denver that it had to book an overflow room.

Meanwhile, another pro-Clinton group called ???18 Million Voices??? is organizing a march on Aug. 26 in Denver ???and nationwide to support Sen. Clinton and advocate for women???s rights worldwide.??? It will also be holding ???a celebration in a beautiful Denver City park during the day, and throughout the evening on Aug. 26,??? according to the 18 Million Voices website.

Sen. Barack Obama???s (D-Ill.) campaign has been in contact with Clinton aides to come up with a plan that will unify the party as well as honor Clinton and the roughly 18 million people who voted for her during the presidential primary.

But any compromise is unlikely to satisfy Clinton???s most ardent backers.

For example, some of the Denver Group???s goals are contrary to the Democratic Party???s.
Its goals include: an open convention; Clinton's name placed in nomination with no symbolic roll call vote; speeches allowed by supporters of Clinton on behalf of her candidacy; a genuine roll call vote with Clinton as a legitimate candidate; and ???no coronation.???

Asked about Clinton last week, Obama said, ???As is true in all conventions, we???re still working out the mechanics, the coordination.??? When pressed if he would favor a roll call for Clinton, Obama responded, ???I didn???t say that.???

OBAMA IS ONLY AND JUST A MEDIA BOYTOY, NOT PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL..... WE CANNOT AND WILL NOT TRUST OUR GREAT COUNTRY TO THIS INEXPERIENCED , WITH MANY AMERICA HATING FRIENDS AND WIFE STEALTHIS ELECTIONS. THE ONLY WAY HE HAS ACHNACE IS WITH SENATOR CLINTON AND HE HAS SHOWN BITH HE AND MICHELLE FEAR THE CINTONS!!!!!

Perhaps Sen. Obama has good reason to fear the Clintons..let's see, Hillary all but suggested he would be assassinated and the Clintons have a long history of arranging very bad luck for people that get in the way of their ambitions ( people have gotten shot, had plane and auto accidents, committed suicide, fell from balconies etc.). I'd fear the Clintons too if I were Obama. I just can't figure out why some people actually like these lying, stealing Clintons.

Do you have any idea the foulness and ignorance of your words and how they reflect on you and barry? nothing you have said is based in factual reality. and there was absolutely no reference to assassination---anyone who lived though RFK's assassination would never let those words come from their mouths. educate yourself. the Kennedy family made a statement. perhaps you'd like to start reading facts and stop spilling your hate everywhere.

How ignorant are you barrybots to continue to do this? keep it up and get those PUMAs in a frenzy. reading this page will get them going. good job loriw. you go girl! inspire away.

        • Posted By: loriw @ 08/09/2008 1:07:22 AM

The assassination comment was made by Hillary- that is factual reality.
Since I am undecided about my presidential candidate I would ask that you refrain from referring to me as a barrybot.
What do you have to contribute? I haven't seen anything inspiring in your posts.

"Hillary all but suggested he would be assassinated"

She did not and that is a completely irresponsible and ignorant statement--even for you. Have you no class?

I guess you weren't watching the news when Hillary made her RFK assassination comment.

This is really sad. I was a HUGE Clinton fan (even during the Impeachment). But now I wish they'd both just go away. Far, far away! I don't care if Obama loses this election (which I don't think is possible since McCain is being a grumpy old man) - I will NEVER vote for Hillary.

jonny what would you have to write about without Sen Clinton? How far into your book are you about your chosen one? make sure to leave room at the end for an update: media corruption.

    Dear Ms Mattie:

I am glad you are including Kelly B. She confronted Mr Alter in his article and was kicked off the politico website. He has not apologized -- it speaks well of his character.

Have you documented the incident where Mr Obama walked away from the podium and the media let him? What more is needed? Once is enough proof.

Thank you for your efforts. I will try to find the video of that day and post it on your site.

    God Bless,
    Etta Mae Jenkins

    • Posted By: JamesTz @ 08/10/2008 10:57:25 PM

      Etta Mae,
Upon further information, it was determined Politico did not kick KellyB off the site. She has access. But that still does not relieve Mr. Alter of his duty to research and clearly state factual information rather than using inexact language which can be interpreted in more than one way. He still presented an argument based on wrong information, and made claims that were inaccurate. And whether KellyB was kicked off or not, Alter still exibits media bias. And KellyB still stands against the Pro-Obama bias.

Democratic Party maybe presumes too much - about women
Robin Lakoff San Francisco Chronicle - Open Forum
    Tuesday, July 29, 2008

It may seem as though the Democratic Party can give a sigh of relief: Women have returned to the fold, and will support Barack Obama for president - and presumably his party - after all. But not so fast.

While I and many other women in my demographic (older, professional, liberal) are likely to vote for Obama in November, our feelings about his party (and ours) are not so clear. We remember the perpetual misogyny and sexism of the media during the primary campaign - misogyny aimed less at Hillary Rodham Clinton herself than at "uppity women" (like ourselves) in general. And many of us feel that the Democratic Party is even more to blame than the media.

Let me mention a couple of reasons why I am thinking this way:

First, of course, is the failure of the party leaders to comment on the sexism rampant in the media, especially the liberal media, for months on end.

Second - and this factor bothers me, and no doubt others, perhaps the most: Why did the superdelegates move in such numbers to support Obama? Why did this occur, especially after Clinton victories? For example, I am thinking here of Robert Byrd. After Clinton's impressive victory in West Virginia, the senator and elder statesman representing that state came out in support of Obama. Because the superdelegates were created to ensure that the Democratic candidate be a centrist, why did so many superdelegates - including liberals and many women - support Obama? Two arguments were made: They wished to follow the will of the people in their district; and they believed that Obama was more electable. But as the Byrd case shows, the first claim was often false; and no one has any idea which of the two, Clinton or Obama, would be more electable in November. It seemed to me that the term was more often used as a kind of excuse, "I'm voting for Obama, but I can't really tell you why," than a reasoned argument.

As a woman I am continually mystified as to how so many intelligent women can be blind on this issue:

Whining about "sexism rampant in the media" is exactly the kind of ammunition unenlightened people use to continue to discredit women. It just reinforces the stereotype of us as creatures ruled by emotion who can't remain rational. Were there inappropriate comments made during her campaign? Yes, but so what. Life isn't fair, stop making believe that it is. Ignorant people will always say ignorant things. Rise above it.

A woman's strength comes from her own knowlege about who she is and where her personal power truly lies, not from external approval from men or her children. Women who are truly strong within themselves, like Golda Meir, like Margaret Thatcher, pay no attention to the unenlightened squawking of weak-minded men - why did Hilary? Why do we?

Hilary was a victim of nothing. She took her best shot and she lost, not because she was uppity, not because the males of the party found her threatening, not because the male media was misogynist, but because she is deeply and badly flawed. She got where she is because of who she married. Yes, she worked her tail off once she got there (the senate) but if she wasn't Mrs. William Clinton, she couldn't have been elected Dog Catcher of Hope, Arkansas, regardless of her background as an attorney.

As a number of people in this post have noted, Bill Clinton is an untreated addict, and Hilary Clinton is an untreated co-dependent. I could not vote for her primarily because she cannot separate herself from the flawed individual she married. I would have had more respect for her if she had divorced him years ago, although as a mother, I totally understand why she didn't.

If Obama loses in November, then he loses. But if you truly think Hilary would have won except for the misogynist party bosses and sexist male media, you are living in a dream world. The American electorate as a whole would not have chosen her - she has too many of the same character defects as Bush - the misguided loyalty, the arrogance, and the badly codependent feelings of inadequacy that force them both to continually try and prove to the world they are really good little children. Yes, she's much smarter than Bush (who isn't!) and her political ideology is more liberal, but they are both dangerous loose cannons.

If we as a gender are going to take our place in the national spotlight we need to do it from a place of strength, not weakness. I, for one, am damn grateful that our first female presiden won't be Hilary Clinton.

We can do so much better.

      • Posted By: Sakel @ 08/08/2008 3:56:55 PM

Hillary's "arrogance and badly codependent feeling s of inadequacy ...of good little children"??!! No kidding, lady! You gave me the best laugh I've had in ages! Phyllis Schaffly and Real Ladies for Bush would be real proud of you, Sweetie! Now, let me ask you what other woman you know in American politics had the guts in '95 to go confront the Chinese officials and shout at them that they should stop abusing Human Rights? What other woman took centre stage and said "Human Rights and Women's Rights?" I don't see you saying anything remotely connneced to benefitting women's issues. And you know hon we got plenty. Genital mutilation, prostitutes by the hundreds of thousands internally displaced in Iraq, thanks to Georgie W. policies, working in Syrian brothers for fat Arab princes of Kuwait visiting for their favours! Can't see Sweets Obama or the McCave and Repugnant gang doing anything about women' and children's issues,! But Hillary has real guts and for decades she's worked hard to promote UNIVERSAL HEALTH Care. Show me anyone else who's done half as much and I'll show you a lying chicago sewer rat! So, go ahead and rejoice in your Hillary bashing, sweetie! If you havent got time to check FACTS....

I find it EXTREMELY unfair to have a healine like this and put out that Bill Clinton is "still sore". THIS is the kind of media nastiness that the Clintons have dealt with VS the Messiah Obama.

    • Posted By: loriw @ 08/08/2008 1:12:14 AM

I truly believe that Bill is still sore. The Clintons felt they had another 4 years guaranteed and guess what...
they counted the chicks before the eggs hatched. The Clintons didn't count on those of us that didn't forget the disgraces of the Clinton administration and were outspoken about it. The Clintons are bad actors and even worse liars. They didn't deserve to be back in the White House, the same White House they stole property from as they left. What a class-less pair.

This race is too important for continued pandering. Understanding Hillary's struggle to accept the outcome, she now takes a chance of undermining one of the very points proven by her successes in the primary--that women should be taken seriously as candidates for national office. Have we heard men ask for actions to assauge the enduring pain of their lost? Do we see men pointing to their emotional distress and asking for a national forum so "we can just be heard?" Wives use these ploys so husbands will do what they want and that's personal. This is a national campaign and the country has major issues to resolve. The repubs want this emotional tripe to continue to divide and splinter the democrats. Continuing this charade makes it harder for the next women to be taken seriously, after all that is why Hillary's campaign started off dressing her in formal business attire; to make the statement that women can make pragmatic choices. It is time to prove it! As a woman, I see the danger of this lingering snit in a national race as damaging to our claims and demands for equality.

Enough already, we've allowed for the bellyaching since the end of the primary. It is now time for mature, adult and pragmatic decisions so democrats can win. Continuing this attack is not a win for our party. Come on "girls" lets win one for the team. We can make other demands to address issues we know are important to us, but this national focus on this side issue detracts from attempts at reasoned debate.

      Hatful1,

This is a wonderful post. Thank you so much for posting this comment, I agree 100%. Another thing that they do not seem to understand is that the more problems that they cause the more they are just damaging Sen. Clintons reputation and possibly her political career. If she is seen in anyway as promoting this type of party disloyalty? the DNC and the Political Powers will totally abandon her and since Sen. Clinton wants to continue in politics she will need these people. Right or wrong this is the way that it is now. When this election begain, I saw it as a first step in our country's evelution from all of the racial, gender and religous bigotry that has always been part of our country's history. I still see it as so, hopefully one day it will not be such a shock to Americans for a Black, White, Asian, Jewish, Muslim etc. Man or Woman to run for president. Unfortunately from the behavior that has been prevalent throughtout this campaign, we have a very very long way to go. But one day!

      • Posted By: systems88 @ 08/10/2008 7:46:43 PM

"he DNC and the Political Powers will totally abandon her"

They did that a long time ago when they moved up the SC Primary.

      What century are you from?

"Wives use these ploys so husbands will do what they want" & "girls"

You cannot be taken seriously, especially because you're a man. And can you get a clue...it's not Sen Clinton who isn't accepting it...it's her supporters. And what are you doing? Disrespecting her. And how will her supporters react to your words?

Why don't any of you have a clue to the detrimental nature of your posts? Even ALTER of all people got a clue and did not make his usual venomous attacks on her in this article. That should tell you something. He has lost all journalistic integrity from his obvious bias, but he seems to finally have woken up to fact that his attacks were directly affecting barry's chance of winning over Sen Clinton supporters...or maybe he didn't like seeing proof of his propaganda on the citizens against proobama media bias blog...

Good God I hope Sen. Obama if elected would have enough sense not to allow that suggestion to become reality! Geesh. Bill showed up drunken to many of the summits he attended as POTUS. That was enough and that was then. Let's not repeat bad history and give him another chance to embarrass us any more. Send Bill to rehab but don't send him to met with anyone who we still want to respect us tomorrow!

      Lori,

When was Bill Clinton ever seen drunk at an event? I am sure that this would have been big news, yet I have never heard of any intances where he arrived anywhere drunk.

      • Posted By: loriw @ 08/08/2008 6:47:51 PM

I worked with the nurse who was Bill's nurse on Air Force One during Clinton's admin. He said that Bill showed up trashed drunk to more than one international summit conference. Considering this person is RN and I worked with him in a critical care area I would state that this person was qualified to determine if Clinton was drunk or not. He had a lot to say about Clinton and it wasn't flattering. Bill was the media darling that kept them selling papers and news like hotcakes with his escapades. Even with the sexual mess the media still adored Bill.

    FEC Investigation of Obama Eligibility
    The petition

The signers of this petition request the Federal Elections Commission and Mr. Donald McGahan, FEC chairman, to take responsibility to verify the eligibility of Mr. Barack H. Obama to be President of the United States. Mr. Obama has refused to produce a physical certified, stamped copy of his birth certificate. An electronically-displayed image displayed by his official campaign website has been alleged to be a forgery. We request that the FEC require Mr. Obama to authorize the FEC to obtain an official copy of his birth certificate and if he does not produce the authorization that the FEC reject his registration as a presidential candidate; that the FEC not monitor his campaign finances during the primary or election; that votes cast for Mr. Obama and reported by the states??? boards of elections not be recorded and displayed by the FEC; and that Mr. Obama be considered in violation of 2 USC 437g for filing a false statement on FEC Form 2, as specified on that form.

I'm not sure what the whole issue with this is. First of all, Obama was born in the STATE of Hawaii. Secondly, birth records are a matter of public record, at least where I live. If you're so concerned about his citizenship, call up the Dept of Health and ASK for it!

It is my "right of passage" you know.(HEHE). Even though everyone has a voice, I don't think our new National Anthem should be "I Want To Teach The World To Sing". What kind of rampent stupidity caused that remark by a presidental candidate? My next question to Nobama is- How long will it take to close every military base in the US and bring all American servicepeople home from every overseas base? Will you allow the American people to have a chance to buy all of the Military surplus so we can defend ourselves? Just curious..

The Clintons are willing to help Obama lose. So what else is new? If Obama happens to get elected, the Clintons role in Democratic politics will go into cold storage. They both realize that the appearance of party unity is required so that Hillary can maintain her position as next in line. They both know that undermining party unity is their only chance. Best of all, it is easy to preach unity and practice dissention. It comes naturally to any politician and supernaturally to the Clintons.Obama has to lose for Hillary to eventually win.

    • Posted By: what? @ 08/09/2008 2:23:52 PM

sad. so very sad. "the Clintons are willing to help Obama lose" Hmm. "Undermining party unity is their only chance" for what? And what's that sneaky lady doing behind obama's back while he's on vacation? Campaigning in Nevada for him. Nefariously saying that "her long primary campaign against the Illinois senator showed her "his passion, his determination, his grace and his grit." & "Sen. Obama needs all of us, he needs us working for him," Stop the Clinton bashing. all you're doing is turning off more voters. do you want obama to win? because you are not helping.

    • Posted By: notroubleatall1963 @ 08/08/2008 11:47:22 AM

What a pity they see this as a zero-sum game. We have a great female candidate and a fab black candidate. Too bad they couldn't come together, but the Clintons are too "big" to be happy playing second fiddle, apparently. Too bad they feel the need to undermine Obama, it's going to backfire against her in 2012 if she does run.

And if she "steals" the nomination from Obama, in the unlikely event that happens, there will be so much bad blood in the democratic party that we will lose every White House for a long time. Do you thnk O's supporters will vote for her in 2012 or even in 2008? No way. She'd be alienating a good strong majority of the party. She may as well join McCain's ticket if she wants a shot at the white house anytime soon.

  • Posted By: Old Crab @ 08/09/2008 2:03:09 PM

Actually, it seems that neither side (Clinton or Obama) want to give in to the other-----we'll see what happens in Denver. I wonder if the fireworks will be as bright as in China???

  • Posted By: antifish @ 08/08/2008 12:49:23 PM

Obama's problem is that he did not win the nomination. Like everything else he's "accomplished" in his life, it was handed to him. The DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee violated their own rules to give him delegates he did not earn. Obama bought off many super delegates who went against the will of their constituents to back him. And, Pelosi, Dean and Reid strong-armed super delegates to back him. What happened was more like a third-world coup than a fairly-won nomination. Those of us who care about this party will not fall in line behind this tin-man "nominee". Democrats better be ready to lose in November.

      • Posted By: what? @ 08/09/2008 1:29:49 PM

Hillary has not lost..nor has Obama won anything. The delegates have not officially spoken. Ask yourself why the DNC hasn't put her name on the ballot? Why do they keep saying it's up to her? Did they even have to ask the others? Did they ask Jesse if he really wanted his name on there? Dean quit early on with less than 200 delegates and had absolutely no chance and his name was on it.

ps. is this your way of gaining Clinton supporters for Obama?

    • Posted By: summer4077 @ 08/08/2008 1:15:21 PM

How has ANYTHING been handed to Obama? He's worked his butt off to get where he is today, unlike most politicians. Seems to me that McCain has more handed to him (millionaire wife) than Obama ever will. Obama is an educated man, McCain is simply a war vet. Big deal.

      • Posted By: Sakel @ 08/08/2008 3:45:28 PM

Absolutely, Summer. I agree that NOTHING has been 'handed' to Obama. Hailing from the political sewers of Chicago and the Mayor Daley-Axelrod Machine, he in fact, STOLE the Election in '96 from his mentor and benefactor, African-American Sen. ALICE PALMER. Then this year, with a great assist from the media misogynist frat-boys' antics that pushed him to a premature fraudulent 'finish-line' of superdels, he STOLE the nomination from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton! His extreme misogyny--remember JayZRapper song on his win in Iowa: "I got 99 problems but a BITCH ain't one of them"? His mega hit on youtube "Obama gives Hillary the F*inger! And going on stage on his Fundraiser where Bernie Mac the comedian's "punchline" was that "mothers and sistahs" were "Whores" ('hos)??? After pseudo-adminishing Bernie, Obama said "Hey, Bernie, never mind, I was just messing with you"...Now that's the kind of guy who'd make Bush look like a Feminist Mother Teresa! Enjoy your Hopey Dopey while it lasts!

Obama did not steal an election from Alice Palmer, she raised 15,000 signatures in three days to get her name put on the ballot. Obama challanged her petition and it was determined that she had gotten signatures of people outside of the district. So, she was disquallified. The JayZ song was not played when Obama won in Iowa.

Totally amazing how bloggers can just say things. Mr. Obama bought off supers? Who? Supers were strong-armed? How? Third World Coup? Ahhhh!. Now we get it. Just say anything for convenience and tears. These people must really hurt and be so very low in esteem.

          Hi Ask,

So Sakel is stating that at an Obama presidental campaign event he played a song by JayZ with the word Bitch in it and had Bernic Mac on stage using profanity. I mean really forget that I really believe that Obama has entirely too much class to do something like this. Let's look at the lack of common sense, the candidates cannot sneeze without having a camera or camera phone in their face. Do you honestly believbe that this man who is running for president would do something so absolutely stupid LOL!

And furthermore if he was that brain dead, would it not be all over the news channels? See this is what really pisses me off on these boards. Call the man arrogant if you must, elitist if you do not know the meaning of the word, racist if you are just that ignorant but stupid please!

          This is beyone silly!

The guy has a little more than book smarts. One of the reasons I liked Ms. Clinton is because she had a bit of tough in her. But Mr. Obama has a lot of tough too. I would have lost my cool if I were him, but I think he sees the bigger picture. Ms. Clinton can take this time to grow to be the biggest civilian player in the history of man. Bigger than Carter and Mandela combined, establish super-health and environment. Or she can listen to the loud, crying and sad. Somehow I don't think she has that much of a victim mentality. I think she enjoys being the "show" too much. What do you think?

Obama won. To the victor goes the spoils. If Clinton had won would we be having this discussion? No, hell no. The Clintons need to get over it and fall in line behind the Democratic nominee, Barack Obama.
Hillary needs to get her panties out of the excrutating wad they are in and Bill needs to let go of the green eyed monster, commonly known as jealousy-so that the rest of us can move on. One of the worst thing that can happen to anyone is not recognizing when their time has come and gone.

If I can remind everyone that Ancient Greece is not only known for Drama but also for inventing Democracy. The Democratic party faithful include Hillary supporters as well as Obamabots and after Obama's (Ok - only his followers called her names Obama had no idea that was going on) personal attacks on Hillary and Bill Clinton's record and on top of that accusing them both of being racist Obama has to try to heal the wounds.
Here is another reason that Obama needs the Clinton's more then they need him - Clinton record of a surplus and the credibility he adds to the attacks from McCain that Obama is another Tax and Spend Liberal.

The Clinton record of surplus. How about the Clinton record of debasing his office while there & prostituting it after he left.

If you don't like MSM, I have a few suggestions that may be worth investigating :-).

Obama is the MSM darling for the moment, but that can change too in a flash.

Shut off the internet, turn off the television, turn off the radio, do not read any newspapers. Instead, so you won't have any propaganda from any outside sources, go read some books, and enjoy life without the MSM. Batman is still playing, if you can afford to go to the movies.

That was sound advice, and I am dolling it out for free. Anyone has MSM blues I implore you to do what I said. Now I feel better, I am going to read a book on how to cope with MSM. Any takers? LOL

Alter toss out the words "Greek drama" I don't see how Hillary shooting herself in the foot makes it better for the Clintons. So there is my two cents with MSM.

...or be a pro-active citizen and investigate the MSM like citizens against pro-Obama media bias. Or continue to do what the German people did...nothing. Propaganda is propaganda.

    1980:
    Jimmy Carter - 1981 delegates
    Ted Kennedy - 1225 delegates
    Uncommitted - 122
No way Kennedy could win, but his name was placed in nomination.

    2004:
    John Kerry: 2192.5 Pledged delegates
    Howard Dean: 114.5 Pledged delegates
Dean had already dropped out with no chance of winning, but his name
    was placed in nomination.

    2008:
    Barack Obama: 1766.5 Pledged delegates
    Hillary Clinton: 1639.5 Pledged delegates
The contender is being told to shut up for the sake of the party.

In addition, Teddy Kennedy has had his name on that first ballot in
    1968 (12 votes), 1972 (12 votes), 1976 (1 vote), 1980 (1150 - he lost
    some supporters along the way).

Jesse Jackson has had his name on that first ballot twice: 1984 (465
    votes), 1988 (1218 votes).

Why then is Dean so determined to keep Clinton off that ballot?

    • Posted By: what? @ 08/09/2008 12:21:37 PM

drumroll...because they're afraid he would actually not secure the nomination. and if it is a very close role call they risk not having "party unity come November". And another drumroll...if it was in any way close he would have no choice than pick her for VP. The problem is -- they don;t place her name on the ballot -- they will never get thpse voters.

As you have shown, they have made a deliberate decision not to allow it. Another *** in the legitimacy of this election. I wish you had included how long it took them to concede. Not a single one was forced to do it mere days after they won their last Primary. And absolutely not one of them were ridiculed and harassed for celebrating with the voters that gave them that win. Absolute bias. Absolute. Kennedy lost to Carter and he wouldn't shake carter's hand. Sen Clinton is ripped apart the day after her last win and where is she the next morning? Endorsing Obama to the Jewish community. Sore loser? Clinton doesn't show up and Obama doesn't have a chance.

That would be because they are Clinton's and act that way. They are perhaps two of the smartest people on the planet, but they have a huge chip. They have been known to use kitchen sink tactics. They're also pretty good at showing the right, and hitting with the left.
