The method Russia seems to be using in gaining its objective of restoring the Soviet Union is to separate a piece from another country and then move in its ???piecekeepers??? to keep that piece for itself.
In conclusion, the international community should make plans for reacting to the next Russian attack on its neighbour. The present reaction is inadequate since Russian forces are still moving deeper into Georgia. The next attack will come since the invasion of Georgia is premeditated and part of a bigger plan (Robert Kagan???s Aug. 11 article in The Washington Post). There are also plenty of ???frozen conflict??? opportunities that Russia can warm up ??? Nagorno-Karabakh in Azerbaijan, Eastern Ukraine that is mainly Russian-speaking, Transdniestria in Moldova, the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad between Poland and Lithuania (access rights for example), the mainly Russian-speaking Ida-Virumaa region of Estonia.

Proof: Russia seeks to restore itself to Soviet Union size by the admission of Russian leadership (calling the fall of the Soviet Union the greatest catastrophe in the 20th century, promising to protect its interests in any country by any means, including military). Probably for some politicians it is OK to say that black is white and white is black and big Russia is an aggressor that came to terminate a small Georgia.

Bush has repeatedly stated the war in Iraq was justified and he would do it again.
This has to set the record for assasination, over a trillion dollars, over 500,000 dead Iraqis, 2.5 million refugees and than many internally displaced, Over 4000 American GI's dead and quite a few coalition troops and contract personnel not to mention the country is trashed.
And Bush continues to say..but but Saddam is gone.

People! If you are really aiming to THINK - try to do it by yourself!
1) Figure it out - Georgia ATTACKED South Osetia with HEAVY ARTILLERY and TANKS 07/08/2008 and (in one night) KILLED about 2000 citizens, DESTROYED Tshinvaly (the capital of S.Osetia) and several smaller towns.
2) More than 2/3 of osetians are RUSSIANS! And S Osetia is NOT a part of Georgia from 1991 yr. (and its never been a part of Georgia before 1920)!!! NOBODY in Russia wants to gain Georgia "back to the USSR" (I meant in borders of Russia). Georgians wanted to be separated and NOBODY tried to keep them in 1991!
3) EVERY georgian neighbor is ready to declare WAR to Georgian criminal state if it`ll try to repeat S.Osetian scenario. Enough to eat every false your newspaper prints! Just ASK any caucasian about this problem if you are REALLY trying to understand whats happening there! Osetia and Abkhasia don`t want to come back to Georgian borders (ind they will NEVER back).
4) About "Georgian" aggression... DO YOU know that "georian" troops consist of international mercenaries? (of course not I guess...) So ASK GEORGIANS about it - theirs Saakashvilly tried to mobilize, arm and throw to WAR last night`s CIVILIANS! (they even DIDN`t KNOW about theirs destination and aim) So when they looked at this foul "turn" against theirs neighbors - they DESERt by themselves! Most of georgians doesn???t want this war! Because it concerns all caucasian brothers nations!
5) All this act of Saakashvily is only a cause to fire up situation in Caucasus! This way USA can realize its politics of "struggle against russian treat"... A bullshit that helps to spend your money! :)) And YOU ARE EATING THIS!!!

THE FOLLOWING ARE QUESTIONS FOR WHICH THE U.S. NEWS MEDIA SHOULD BE SEEKING ANSWERS.

1- With Condoleezza Rice initially selected as the "experienced" expert Russian adviser, and later installed as Secretary of State, then why has the Georgian-Russian war catch the current administration off guard?

2- Exactly what type of relations does the U.S. have with Georgia, where the U.S. "assumingly" didn't know Georgia would spring an attack on Russia?

3- Did Georgia really "spring" an attack on Russia, or was Georgia deceitfully baited into war by Russia? Based on sparse news reports, it appears Russia's response was so quick and impressive, Georgia has called for a cease-fire in hopes of reducing their lost.

4- In light of sudden war between Georgia and Russia, and while this administration continues twisting Iraq's arms into allowing the U.S. to stay in Iraq; has this administration finally come up with a plan to grow its military for these type of sudden global conflicts? Also, considering current U.S. recruitment stresses, is it possible to grow the military without reinstituting the draft? And can the U.S. grow a sorely needed 'larger' military and still payoff the largest national debt in U.S. history?

5- Assuming the Georgian-Russian war continues, what happens if China as a military equipment supplier for numerous third world countries decide to escalate another war while the U.S. remains involved with Iraq, Afghanistan and maybe Iran?

In light of all the "experience" and leadership of Karl Rove, George Bush, Condi Rice, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and John McCain; just how has this nation managed to get to a point where it appears impotent (again) in the latest global conflict? Was Georgia not being groomed to house U.S. missiles at one time? And the current administration's only response to what is now reported as a Russian route is to yap cease fire? This is the same administration that talked tough about North Korean nukes 7-years ago but eventually appeased the North Koreans with treasures from U.S. national debt that it cannot afford.

Up to last month McCain and this administration wanted to stay in Iraq indefinitely, until Obama forced their hands with a surprise "contingency" understanding with Iraqi leadership to leave by 2010. And now McCain has "180° his judgment" and is suddenly trying to impress us with his speed at getting us out of the Iraq. After 5 ½ years and finding no WMD's but losing 4,200 precious American souls; I guess McCain finally saw the light and decided Obama was right about switching the battlefield to where the Twin-Tower murderers are hiding out.

November 4th cannot get here soon enough. May GOD help the U.S. until we can make the CHANGE then!

I thank you for your updates and information within South Ossetia. Most of the news we are getting here is what the Georgian media is releasing. Reuters is showing pictures of wounded in Gori. Many of these pictures are just propaganda with different staged poses by the same two men.

I see little difference between Russia's bombing of Georgia's strategic military sites and NATO's bombing of Iraqi's strategic sites after Iraq invaded Kuwaiti during the 1st Gulf War. I also see little difference between the US/UK backing of Kosovo independence and Russia backing South Ossetia. The Western world should NOT condemn Russia's response to the Georgian attempt to "cleanse" South Ossetia.

My cousin is in St.louis now. She is shoked. American TV channels like CNN collect rumours and unchecked information! They are not objective! The reports come only from Georgin, there arent any US reporters in s. Ossetia! Why? They hear only Georgian position, they dont want to see 2000 dead Ossetian citizens! It is disgusting! Only a fool can believe in this! She cant hear such a lie! She wants to leave the country.

Today the President of South Ossetia announced that the number of victims of Georgian invasion increases every hour. He said that more than 2000 peaceful citizens, most of whome are women and children, are killed by Georgian troops in Tshenvalli and neighbor villages. Several South Ossetia villages are wiped off the map of Northern Caucasus! The Government of South Ossetia sais that there may be alive people under ruins! But Georgian sharp-shooters don???t pass ambulances and humanitarian colomns to invaded districts! I saw in local TV channel Ossetian ambulances with the tracks of bullets. In interviews Ossetian doctors said that they were shooted by Georgian soldiers, when they tried to enter ruined villages and Tshenvalli. The hospital in Tshenvalli is destroyed by Georgian bombs. Wounded people are dieing in the cellar of the hospital without light and fresh water! Wounded Winston Federly, american reporter is in this hospital. I saw his interview on local TV channel. Two his colleagues were shooted by Georgian troops! Georgia swiched off all Russian TV channels and Internet!
I think, there is no excuse for such a country leader, who order to kill women and children! M. Saakashvilli and his Masters in the USA, who provide the Georgian President with money and weapon for this terrible war, are in one position with such international terrorists as Ben Laden!
Who will be next? Abkhazia? Stop international terrorists and liars! Stop genocide!
