Comment: It's a shame that Senator Edwards' sexual affair will obliterate all the good he's done as a politician, husband, and father. This affair should be strictly between Senator Edwards' and his wife. Let you who has not sinned cast the first stone.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 08/13/2008 4:40:21 PM

      Comment: Miss Jane,
Do you feel any ill feelings towards Edwards being that he has DENIED all accusations of this affiar for the last 3 months? Sad days in America when the National Enquirer is considered the standard for reporting these days. Even worse when the reporters we are supposed to trust in getting us the information cannot leave their own biasedness at home and refuse to break a story if it hurts their own agenda's. Atleast replace the headline of NEWS with "this reporters OPINION"

Comment: If I see one more thing about a politician's private life aired on public news I'm going to puke. Once aired that's all you here, you don't see anything about their job - that's sick. People are a certain way at work, and what they do when their NOT at work is NOT ANYONE'S BUSINESS EXEPT FOR HM AND HIS WIFE TO DEAL WITH. I have been cheated on and those involved were involved afterward and that was it - it wasn't aired around town. Same thing with Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinski - who cares - let Bill and Hillary deal with it - and leave them be. Americans are sick in the head - they thrive off this stuff, that is crazy - get a life!

Comment: Chances are pretty good you are not a public figure that was running for President of the United States..They are in the camera for everything else, so you bet their private lives affect their public lives also...He shouldnt have been so stupid. Anyone who wants to be famous and in the spotlight should expect EVERYTHING to be in the spotlight...You cant just shut it off when you want!

Comment: Please note I AM NOT engaging in Male Bashing. From personal experience and the experiences of friends and loved ones this is just typical male behavior in the USA. Please don't take hold of the reins of your better judgement and common sense, especially when you are in the public eye and trying to make a great impression. Instead whip out your penis and use it in place of your brain. If he is the father of this women's child then let me also mention the following: In this day and age when we are trying so desperately to convince our young people of the many, many dangers of unprotected sex here comes John Edwards (a very public figure) having UNPROTECTED SEX. Way to go John! Do you think you could help us with any ot the other health issues we are trying to convey to our children? Too Bad you will never get to read this...it might have been educational for you. NEVER, EVER trust a politician!!

Your pompousness and prideful nature have become a sad and distasteful tale of who is the real John Edwards. My heart goes out to your wife and family. You are a disgrace to them and to all who believed in you. Please go away.

So many people in this country cheat on their wives, yet get upset when politicians get caught. I say let only the politician who haven't cheated show up for work! DC will be completely empty!!!

Why is she still with him? I'm sure the lure of living the good life and having everyone kiss you azz has something to do with it.

  • Posted By: PublicSchoolTeacher @ 08/09/2008 11:51:16 PM

Comment: I don't think this is an issue of being Republican or Democrat. There is an old saying that "there is no such thing as an honest politician." That's for sure! So many of them are lying lowlifes! When I do choose to vote, I always feel like I'm voting for the lesser of two evils! IE, we never have many good choices! This is about people who lie and cheat. Edwards and Clinton have a lot in common- both are Southerners who can lie with a "sweet smile" across their faces. They both denied any wrongdoings. They are both people with low morals. I normally vote Democratic, but these types of behaviors are just an embarrassment to the party. I will always vote for the best candidate, no matter what their party. The scariest thing is that according to statistics, 3 out of 4 married men cheat, and these results just are based on the married men who have ADMITTED to cheating in the surveys, so the statistics are probably even higher. Unfortunately, men like these just add leverage to the old adage that men think with their *icks and not their brains!!! Pretty pitiful.
As for Rielle, she ought to just go by the nickname "Ho", because even if it wasn't Edwards who fathered her child, supposedly it was a married political aide, so she is just a sleaze who chooses to sleep around with married men. She looks ridiculous, too. It takes 2 to tango, and she knew he was married, so they are both lowlife scumbags. Elizabeth Edwards deserves better than her so-called husband. He says he only loves her in his interview, points to his heart, and says "she's always in here" and he's always thinking of her.
Wow- I wonder if he was thinking about her while he was screwing around with Rielle. What a phony, smiley, moron. His dumb-looking smile is reminiscent of Bill Clinton's (argh!!!)

I Know John McCain and Cindi McCain are hoping November gets here... SOON

It has been exactly one month since the New York Times broke the John McCain/Vicki Iseman scandal, and since then the press has gone after Iseman with all the veracity and acumen of a dead hippo. What gives?

Don't get me wrong -- I think that if John McCain had an inappropriate relationship with a lobbyist who looks like a Barbie doll that your sister gave a haircut to, it doesn't make him any less qualified to be president than I already think he is. That said, since any Democrat that is state assembly on up can't look at a woman other than his wife without the press going after her, I'd like to see the same crappy journalism help my team for once.

Certainly isn't happening yet, and (Vicki Iseman) is probably sitting at home thanking Eliot Spitzer and Jeremiah Wright for making this news almost as old as John McCain, smugly patting herself on the back for being the only person in history to be a front page story in the Times with the self-control to not utter a peep. That, or some shadowy people have buried her in the desert.

We wrote a song to help find out - enjoy!

Shout-outs to Huffpost blogger Chris Kelly and 80's punk gods Husker Du for obvious inspiration.

    Vicki Where Are You?

A month ago when I first read your name
In a television storm of counterclaims
Certain that you'd surface soon enough
To deflect the accusations, cry out how you've been misjudged
The rumors faded out and that was that
And everyone stopped wondering just where you might be at
Now it's likely that I'll see your face
On a box of milk at breakfast or a ship to outer space

Vicki where are you, did they send you far away
I don't want to argue, I just want to know that you're okay
Vicki where are you on a rocket to the moon
Vicki where are you, I hope you come home soon

Comment: Imagine this, in 2007 the story breaks that Edwards has had an affair and possibly fathered a child. The first group of voters in Iowa in 2008 are about to cast their votes for the nominee and they now have this knowledge about Edwards. It would have been a completely different race and the outcome could have been very different. There is the chance Obama could have won in a landslide or Clinton could have won in a landslide. We will never know what the outcome may have been if John Edwards had told the truth before the primaries. I would also like to know why the Washington Post, Ny Times, and MSNBC, Fox, CNN and all the other news entities did not do a little investigative reporting to find out if the Enquirer was full of crap or not. We are talking about someone who was running for the highest office in the land and the media ignored this story and focused on Obama and Clinton instead. Journalism is dead....and we should all apparently buy the Enquirer instead of the post for the true stories about what is going on in politics. It's a sad sad day!

Comment: I bet Hillary and Bill are livid and not laughing about this latest development. Hillary could possibly have been the nominee if Edwards had not been in the first race in Iowa. The primaries would have been very different if this story had leaked in October 2007. John Edwards has quite possibly screwed the entire democratic party and his decision to hide this affair has had far reaching consequences.

Comment: Also I can't help but feel that witch Hillary is behind this whole thing. It's not a coincidence that Obama's ideal VP picks are suddenly being offed one by one. They either publicly refuse to be a VP candidate or tarnished by some new scandal. It's obvious that Hillary is coercing them or ruining them in the process so Obama will have no choice but to pick her as his VP candidate. And you know what length those goddamn women will do when they're one heartbeat away from obtaining power.

    • Posted By: loriw @ 08/08/2008 9:33:39 PM

Comment: Anyone who has seen my posts knows I despise the Clintons but really.....Hillary didn't exactly force Edwards to have an affair now did she. Let's place blame where the blame for this one should be- on Edwards himself. Edwards chose to have the affair and as Dr Phil says "When you choose the behavior you choose the consequences." Edwards consequence he chose when he had the affair is that he has now lost the chance at being VP. If more cheating husbands were faced with more consequences then perhaps they would keep their pants zipped. Women, the wives, that forgive and forget remove the consequences from their husbands and it allows the dogs to do it again and again. Does anyone who thinks that it's OK for these men to cheat on their wives ever stop to consider that sometimes these cheating men bring home to their unsuspecting wives some pretty nasty and even deadly STD's? Wow if you are already battling cancer how would you like a nice case of HERPES or HIV/AIDS on top of it? Do men ever think beyond their own selfish sexual needs? I bet Elizabeth could have used his emotional support as she went through her illness but wait where was the good Sen. Edwards??? oh, he was in bed "comforting" another woman!

    • Posted By: PublicSchoolTeacher @ 08/10/2008 12:00:13 AM

Comment: Another dumb post from another dumb reader.... I wonder how you look? Probably not like a model. Usually it is people with low self-esteem who have to put others down to make them feel good about themselves. Who cares how Elizabeth looks? He married her, made his vows and promised to love, honor, and cherish her for better or worse and be faithful. He broke those vows. He is really a lowlife to cheat on her when she needed his support the most. I'll bet with your stupid attitude, you don't have a wife or girlfriend, either. After all, who would put up with your obvious ignorance?

    • Posted By: xeyeldinTX @ 08/09/2008 11:55:50 AM

Comment: Whoa, that is utterly uncalled for. He married her. Whatever your personal "in the eye of the beholder" opinion might be, he made the choice and therefore suffers the consequences. If he had told the truth at the very beginning I think people would be far more forgiving. It's the lying. Think what a difference making the statement from yesterday would have made had he made it a year ago. I don't think Hillary would have won, I think he - Edwards - would have done much better. He would have seemed a lot more sympathetic. But justifying his actions based on how you think his wife appears is utterly deplorable.

Comment: Hmm...didn't McCain dump a wife with an illness for his current wife?

Why do Americans get soo bent out of shape over unfaithful spouses? It's none of our business, now is it? Two consenting adults. His commitment is to his wife, not us. It is Mrs Edwards business, her embarassment - not ours!

Comment: You are obviously a retard. If he needs his n**kie, he should go get a divorce, pay alimony and child support, and then he can get all he wants without putting his wife in danger of disease, etc. Marriage isn't supposed to be about lying and cheating. After reading a bunch of your posts, I'm wondering if there is a dictionary to translate the language you are using, because you're certainly not using Standard English! Or should I ask, is there a "DI*Ktionary" for you and your lovely language? I feel sorry for your wife if you are married with your dumb way of thinking. But then again, I am sure that you are NOT married.

    John McCain is.... NEXT

Lets hear Honest John Soundoff on this Indiscretion..The Hypocrite !!
This may Truly be, The Year of the "2 Johns"

    1. John Edwards 2. John McCain & Vicki Iseman..Make it 2 for 2 John McCain...Please !!!

A Song to Help Find (Vicki Iseman) Remember Her ?

Get Ready for the (Vicki Iseman) Backlash, John McCain and I Hope its before the Election...

Max and the Marginalized is the only rock band in the progressive blogosphere, and therefore the best one! They write and record a song a week and post them here. Go to their outposts on Facebook or MySpace for tour dates. Right click this and select "save link as" to download this song in much better fidelity than YouTube offers.

Comment: Dear perumanian. Very good post. Great insight. Edwards seemed to be so squeaky clean. So perfect. People will be a bit more skeptical about Obama. They will want to look under the hood and when they do...they will find. Well you know....A poster of Che Guevara, a copy of Ellison's Invisible Man, a couple of chicken bones from Leon's in Hyde Park, a copy of Fanon's the Wretched of the Earth, and a couple of New York City subway tokens.

Comment: I believe that McCain and his ex-wife have spoken openly and candidly about that. Does anyone recall that McCain has lied to the American people about it? I can't say I can say the same for Clinton or ,now in this case, Edwards.

  • Posted By: Gimmeabreak78 @ 08/08/2008 6:26:40 PM

Comment: Once again, we have another case of a politician using his wife to humanize him and make him credible to the voting masses, only to betray her in private. Sickening--regardless of political persuasion.

Comment: Holly Roller: Why is it mostly Democrats who get caught up in these sex scandals? First it was Thomas Jefferson, then FDR, then JFK, and then Ted Kennedy, then Gary Hart, then Barny Frank, then Bill Clinton, then Pamela Anderson, then Paris Hilton, then that Governor of New Jersey, then the Mayor of Detroit. then Elliott Spitzer, then now Edwards. Who is next? I don't know who to trust anymore.

  • Posted By: josemarti @ 08/08/2008 6:11:24 PM

Comment: All glory. All praise. All honors to Holly Roller. You were right again. How big of a blow will this be to Obama? Any idea why it is taking him so long to pick a VP? Any idea what he is really doing on his "vacation."?

    Comment: Sex and the Suffragettes

Do you know which president had a love child while campaigning for office - and how that helped women win the right to vote?

Most people are quite a bit in the dark about HOW women won the vote.

Now finding out the sexy, shocking truth is as easy as opening your e-mail.

"The Privilege of Voting" is a new historical e-mail series that goes behind the scenes in the lives of eight well-known women from 1912 to 1920 to reveal the exciting and surprising twists and turns that played into women finally winning the vote in England and America.

The women depicted include two of the most beautiful and outspoken suffragettes -- Alice Paul and Emmeline Pankhurst, along with Edith Wharton, Isadora Duncan, Alice Roosevelt, and two stunning presidential mistresses.

There are weddings and funerals, babies in peril, damsels in distress, war, peace, prohibition, broken hearts and lots of hot affairs on the rocky road to the ballot box.

The best part is it's ALL true!

Presented via e-mail in a unique, sequential, interwoven short-story format called Coffeebreak Readers - it makes discovering the delightful heroines of women's suffrage history fast and fun!

Each action-packed e-mail episode takes about 10 minutes to read, so they are perfect to enjoy on coffeebreaks, or anytime.

Comment: This man could be the Democratic nominee. It could be October instead of August. Do journalists of any political persuasion understand the implications that giving this man a pass could have had on our political process? Does anyone care that similar journalistic lapses with regard to either of our current candidates could have disastrous effects? I doubt it.
