@magica:
So only a person that writes against Berlusconi is an honest person. Interesting, very interesting. Your reply is a magic reply. My life changed after your reply :-)
Btw talking about chaos.....
They made a big issue in cancelling ICI (which btw is a federal tax, so should be maintained in a country going to federalism), and today Bossi said ICI is good and must be reintroduced. Actually it seems they do not know what to do.....hope they are going to make a good law about federalism
Mr. Brigazzi, where what you reported comes from? From Berlusconi's TVs and medias?
Please remenber you are a journalist. So checking "de visu" if whar you write is right shoud be the rule.
Ricolfi's book , not ridolfi. :-)
@micky74:
I've read a book (ridolfi's book, do you know?). About 2001-2006.
As soon as possible I'll see the ppt file you wrote about.
All this discussion confirm my little story (that I wrote in my first discussion) about the garden and about the italian way of thinking. We are really good to criticize everithing....no metter who did what. We love to criticize everything left, right, north, south...and to see other nation perfect. There are enormous example of that.
1- In France the burocracy works...do you know in every family there is a 1,5 component that work for the burocracy? And do you know that is not just concentrated in one part of France but everywere?
2- USA is just about services, there are no line and you get everything immediatly. Of course you are be paied with tips. And in any case in NYC airport I stayd in line for 45 minutes...here in Malpensa as you see an american citizen in line more thatn 5 minutes he start to complain and to say "of course we are in Italy"
3- In London a landlord can make a contract for a house and if in 15 days you don't pay the police kick you off from the house...Unfortunatly this is not in this way and there is a business that is really growing: Gangs are payed to accelerate the process to have the house back. The gang members go to the client and litteraly force him to leave..
We are like in the middle age...suspicious, divided...
cospiracy.....everywere! wow! :)
I said corruption, giving an example. And although if prestigious signatures of prestigious italian newspapers do not give enough importance to this, I don't think it's funny.
For exemple, is today's news the decreasing by 7 per cent (!) of IVA revenue in the last month: of course if a corrupting (as well as corrupted) political class can relieves tax controls for his own interests, general evasion also increases.
yes, but you know what is the most ENORMOUS tax evasion in Italy? Black job and fake product. I'm not talking the one from the companies, I'm talking the one from the Mafia. So here we continue to think that the evasion continue to come from the big companies but is not true!! The real evasion come from the south and the Mafia, Camorra etc. Is not racism against the south..is just the terrible true. Is terrible that in 60 years the south is still in this condition..and the mistake were from the central right at the biginning but continues after even from the left (see Bassolino)
we try to talk, but it's not so simple :-)
@ Evening again
Then economy. In Germany they had the same problem. In a era where you have to planify everything, people that are governing and the opposition have to sit down and decide. A good idea is always a good idea from left or right. So liberalizations were called by many European countries and by many economists. The center left started it, were blocked by center right, now let's see what are they going to propose. Not that much for now.
The pensions. In Italy there are more people over 60 than people under 20. That means that right now for every person working there are 2-3 people having a pension. You see that economically this can not be sustained. Going to private? That is a decision that must be taken, right now. But who is going to discontent eldery people really important source of votes for the right parties (in fact young people voted PD). So I do not think they will touch pensions. To start again Italy need reserach, University and new products. Old products can not compete with Chinese and east Europe. What did they do? They cutted again the money for the research to finance a "money hole" like Alitalia until october (University La Sapienza is saying that they can not guarantee next academic year!!!!!!!!). This means to close the future.
Security: they cutted 3 billions euro for the Police. Then they made a unuseful operation of bringing the military forces to the street. Military forces do not know anything about civil code and maintain order in a normal situation!!! they are made for war!!!!!!! So this brought Italy to Uganda or viceversa!!! Even the catholic "Famiglia Cristiana" pointed out the fake move of this gouvernment. Policemen are angry (take a tour at AN blog if you do not trust me and read the e-mail written to beppe grillo' blog by the sindicate ).
So where are the good moves you are talking about? I would expect a lot of money for the police/ carabinieri a lot of more policemen and carabinieri on the street and a revision of our legal system to be sure to judge every one. Ofc they made all the opposite, so where is the security problem?
(http://www.beppegrillo.it/english.php for the member of police sindicate and http://territorio.alleanzanazionale.it/2008/08/04/la-russa-siamo-un-governo-con-molta-destra/#comment-2346 there is a nice post from a policemen to solve some problems, but they want to solve iit for real or is just an operation for eldery people that think they are now safer?)
Did you stay much better after 5 years of Berlusconi (2001-2006)? I do not think so. As I told you public debt went to 133% that means that with taxes we were paying the interests on the debt we have. No money left for Italy. Prodi (which for me was still the best Prime Minister Italia has had in the last 15 years) brought back the debt under 100%. Pado Schioppa was very welcomed in EU, Tremonti is seen as a clown.
@micky74 :
Hi, I think you are not too left and I'm not too right. So maybe we can agree about something :-) .
-liberalization : Berlusconi and his colation took a wrong decision when they don't support Prodi government . I agree with you. They thought about the people voting them(many taxi owners for example) and said NO. Bersani, who made the liberalizations, made good things. A very good minister.
-Berlusconi is the only person that can unify right in Italy (as Prodi the only one for left, I hope Veltroni, leader of democratric party, completes his task of a real democratic party in Italy, like the american one, but he is weaker than Prodi). I think do you understand the fact, even if you can't do the same, that the most of Berlusconi voters, in the last election, don't worry about Berlusconi prosecutions. Italy has a very very big problems : i thinks there is no money. STOP. NO MONEY. When this problem is solved(left didn't solve it), we can probably think about Berlusconi prosecutions. I repeat : i know left voters can't understand that, but you have to understand that MANY BERLUSCONI VOTERS DON'T WORRY ABOUT HIS PROSECUTIONS.
I think that your point of view is : how a right voter can accept that a person with a not clear past(i don't think that, but many left voters yes, I think), is the premier of the country?
the following is my point of view: Berlusconi has the power to do some things in a clear way (not confusing laws) without the fear that a piece of his coalition says NO. I think security and job are the biggest problems. I tought he can take some clear decisions about these problems. He takes some clear and strong decisions about these problems after only few months. I don't worry about anything else. Maybe are you better than me for this? I don't know. Really, I don't know. There aren't many clear things in Italy, at this moment.
Ah only the last thing. I hope you'll be honest about it. Left solved deficit problem with more taxes. Yes the deficit goes under 3%. And after that? Persons have no money, buy less, big companies sell less products, little companies close. So what to do? Again I don't know but I know that left solve only in a formal way the deficit problem. then the right have to try to reduce taxes and deficit grows, then again the left try to reduce deficit adding more taxes and the deficit goes down. The problem isn't solved. It's only a strange, dangerous game (like old videogame with a square ball that goes from left to right, where if you put the 2 vertical lines, the players, in a right way, you can go out, do what you want and when you come back home you'll see the ball going from left to right without any result).
Have you a solution?
Dear Mr. Barigazzi,
maybe you are an italian fan of Berlusconi/Previti/dell'Utri/Veltroni/etcc..'s land, in this case I will forgive you, but if you are american please don't do this, be serious. None one in the US or UK would accept a prime minester the take under controll 70% of all information in the country.
Regards,
Giovanni Meacci
don't take UK as an example of "clean" country. I have been living here and realized that the British are more mafiosi than Sicilians.
Dear Mr/Ms "gigange", usually I don't talk with "nickperson" :) ...... just to say that we are talking about two different things. Also in US there are mafiosi, but even Antony Soprano wouldn't accept to have as a president the owner of 3 TV channels :), this is thing for a bananasrepublic. I'm talking about the elementary rules of democracy, very very elementary the minimum requirement ...... US and UK are democracies, unfinished, full of defects, representative democracies of course.... and getting wrost in the last years etcc... but still are some kind of democracies, the best we had in the last 100-200 years in the world, the only ones able to correct itself and regenerate. Italy is not a democracy, it never was in its history. Before the Berlin wall went down it was due to the international situation, now because Italy want to be like it is. Good stay in England. Regards
Cont. post below
Persecution against Berlusconi? Once again: in other countries I saw Prime Ministers and Presidents resign for far less than Berlusconi is suspected of. Moreover most of them resigned to be freely judged by their country. What Berlusconi did? Is 10 years he keeps saying they are all comunists, against him. He dicriminalized severla important charges (like balance falsified) he was guilty of (period 2001-2006). But in the meanwhile he commited other crimes he did not dicriminalized. So what he did now? TA-DA!!!! Lodo Alfano!!!! So now he can kill a person and can not be judged. Is like Clinton stopping the judgement for the Lewinski or the US president be above every one ! Ask whether this is possible in the US........!!!!!! So why a persecution against Berlusconi? Easy he is completely unfit to lead Italy or Uganda. He has still to answer the big question on how he managed to make all his money. Since he is a public person he should reply to this......
Main problem is that in 5 years he will become President of Italy, hoping they aree not going to modify costitution and make Italy like US, so we will have a BUSH like chief!!!
"Ask whether this is possible in the US..." Duh. Look around - the president has considered himself above laws and international treaties. He tells his aides they don't have to obey congressional subpoenas. And it seems like redress is a long time coming.
The secret of Berlusconi's success? He controls the most popular TV networks the way the Chinese government dreams of. The way Putin does in Russia. All they know is what the modern Il Duce wants them to know. If Bush could do that, he would have a better approval rating for sure. Berlusconi as created retroactive laws that have given him immunity from crimes he committed. He has used tax money to enrich himself. A real paragon of a man!
What has happened to newsweek? Fallen in love with Berlusconi? Which order are you talking of? He is still taking advantage of his power to make it greater and greater. Here in Italy we do not believe in press any more, news is manipulated and opinion has replaced information. The last elections have demonstrated that we have lost hope since our opposition coalition has proved to be totally unable to work for the good of the nation instead of quarrelling among themselves, fighting only for their 'chair' in the parliament and raising their pay. We have what we deserve...
@Evening77 I have to say it took me some time to understand your points. Not sure if I got them right though.
Of course Prodi counted in his coalition people like Dini (without his consent the gouvernement felt in fact). So they could not touch too much big companies. Anyway, they made several liberalizations so my grand father can change every day his bank without paying (for istance). There were several others that helped small consumer, but they were stopped by Fini, Berlusconi etc who should be for the liberalizations of the market!!!! So liberalization is typical for US economy but is not recognized by Mr. B that (only with words) states to sustain the american way of economy. Another example is the class action. This law has been proposed by center left in Prodi time, passed and has been postponed by Berlusconi to 2010 (this is another possibility typical of US that should be sustained by Berlusconi, that instead is against it!). Biagi law was sustained and published under Berlusconi period 2001-2006. They just forgot to make law the part regarding the social aide due to the people in transit between a job and another. They have enough power both in 2001 and now to modify it.......they have not interest at all to do it. Left parties were trying to modify it, they just missed the number in the Senate chamber. I worked in Spain, US, Germany. Yes we you do not need a worker you can say goodbye....BUT whilst in the company the worker is paid as the workers with a fix contract (that means pension scheme, health insurance, social security), WHEN company say BYE BYE they receive the social insurance (that means they are paid by the state whilst they are looking ffor another job). So COMPANIES pay a FIXED and a TEMPORARY WORKER exactly the same amount of money/hour. So between getting a fixed contract and indefinite one they choose indefinite since at least the worker is going to work for the COMPANY and not FOR HIM! In Italy the TEMPORARY CONTRACT is made for making the worker less expensive to the company. You do not get pension scheme, social security and so on.......in this way young people can not survive. Again Berlusconi has the number to modify this, I do not think he will touch it as they just made a law against temporary workers as if the contract is illegal they can not claim the contract to become indefinite, but only for money (and few money). As you can see they are going in the opposite direction. This law is also against Italian constitution, but this is another problem.
About newspapers and media. Berlusconi owns 95% of media in Italy. Please.......this is well known. If I said B, at least RAI1, 2, CANALE5, ITALIA1, RETE4, Gruppo Mondadori are going to report it, so please........
Hi, micky74. Thanks for your reply. I read it very carefully.
So...
until the 2001-2006 I was thinking that right cuts taxes with some problems for not rich people(medical expenses, more indirect taxes ecc...) and that left add taxes against rich to help not rich people. But since 2006 and then during 2006-2008 I saw something of very strange.
I see the following:
- It seemed to be a very very strong link between left and biggest industries. If I try to make a summary, it seemed that big companies support left. and left can do what it wants with little and middle industries, with shops, with freelance ecc... but it hasn't to touch biggest company. They can't control Berlusconi, he responds only to people vote him. Uhmmm, maybe that is the correct thing, isn't it?
-left thinks that it has to preserve only the employes of big companies. And the others? The salary is the same and often fewer. In the south of Italy, where I live, without temporary jobs no jobs. It's impossible for an italian companies to win the competition with other countries ones if the rules in Italy are "you have to get an employee forever even if you don't need his job anymore" while in the other country the rule is "no need of you. Bye!". That is not a good thing, I think it's one of the worst thing but there is no other solution than more flexible job. One of the few Country that remains almost unchanged from its foundation is USA that understand from the beginning that there are bad things with no soft solution(for jobs, for medical expenses, ecc..) A country can't substain alone (without the support of not public company) these expenses for a long time, Italy is an example . All the other Country (democratic or not) now try to follow USA example.
- i see that the economy of my Country is a disaster. But left thinks is better a bigger disaster than to increase the age of the retirements to save some money(they change previous Berlusconi reform, why? In other country a new premier with a indispensable reform already approved, even if it was not totally good for him never changes it!).
- i see that when Berlusconi do something that can helps him for polls, newspapers in Italy(except some of them) go on strike. So no one in Italy knows what Berlusconi said. I know, it was a coincidence :-) .
-i see the strange behaviour of one of the labor unions. Berlusconi says, for example, "Bye", it says "No" from the beginning for everything he says. I can understand that not all the things that thinks Berlusconi are correct but... . what do you say when Berlusconi says "Bye"?
-I see that a prosecution against Berlusconi is good, against one member of the left party is a drama for Italy.
Be quiet...Berlusconi is an old man. In 5 years no more into politics.
Sorry to be a pain, but in Italy only death (certainly not old age) is a way to get rid of politicians. So I guess we will have to deal with Berluskazz for quite a long time still...
What exactly is 'inkazz' inferring, with his/her deeply offensive comments regarding Jews and the US media? The insensitivity and suggested racism is outrageous! Add the fact that the writer, by virtue of his comments re Berlusconi, is probably a leftist sympathiser and one can only throw up one's hands in dispair... If this is the level of reasoned debate in the Republic, Heaven help Italy.
Dear AlastairRoy, you're right! Mr."inkazz" has shown the real face of most of the writers. He thinks to be a communist, but he is a nazist (and doesn't know it!). What he says was said first of all by Adolf Hitler. Scratch the communist and you find the stalinist, scratch the stalinist and you find the nazist.
dear Mauro-
Just to reinforce the point that I take no lessons (and no crap either!) from anybody (including God!), I've just reported your post comparing me with Adolf Hitler -and calling me various names- to Newsweek. Simple as 1,2,3. The US may be an authoritarian country in many respects, but it is a tad more democratic than Ratzingaland.
Wow! A new fan of US democracy! Do you think that Newsweek is more concerned by my comparison between you and Hitler or by your post that says:" also a child knows that in the US to work in editorial sector, you are Jewish or no deal"? Take it easy, "incazz", and don't get angry: this is bad for your health, and you need a very good health to be able to live enough to see Italy out of NATO!
Guess what! People in my family are quite longevous...
I hope so! and for you too. Good luck, have a nice day, friend! Nothing personal.
By calling me a leftist, I don't know who's more racist around here! Tell you what, I am an Italian citizen who is sick of seeing his country, since 1945, treated like a military and cultural colony by a foreign power (the US). A country with no qualifications whatsoever to teach morals or politics to others. At this stage, it is not Heaven that can save us, but only the possibility to exit NATO as quickly as possible and become a free country once again. Hopefully, before I die, I will see this happen. I'm so sorry, but normally I don't take moral lessons from God in person, let alone from you!
@evening77
Yeah right.
Economy. Left for 2 times has increased the taxes for people (note they augmented the aliquots on rich and decreased the ones on poor people) to replenish the debt Mr. Berlusconi left with EU.
Mr. B. never reduced the taxes, the fiscal pressure is the same and will be the same unless until 2013 (note that is the time for the next gouvernement) because they can not touch them. So who is increasing the taxes?
Security: at least with left parties someone is going to jail. With rightt party in the 2001-2006 I remember they de-penalized several important charges to save Mr.B. bottom. Right now they wanted to stop all the trials for charges between 2 and 10 years to save mr. B. bottom again (note that is the charges for thieves and small criminals you are talking about). Luckily they have made the "lodo Alfano" who saved Berlusconi' ass again and they retired the other law.
Evening77 what are the decision about economy? Please let me see 1 important for young people! ICI detaxation? What didd they do for temporary workers?
Last time he lasted 5 years (2001-2006) and he left italy with a public debt of 133%. With 2 years of Prodi we went back to 100%. Now I fear again Berlusconi's way of economy. He claims to be a liberalist, but he was again left's liberalisations.
Way of US of persecution? Sorry is not exaclty the model I would choose. Anyway in US Berlusconi would be in jail not a Prime Minister. In US no one is above the law, whilst Berlusconi in Italy is. If he kills someone right now, he can not be judged. Ask Mr. Bush. If he kills someone he will go to jail or am I wrong? So why to import all the bad things from US and forget the good things?
Anyway recall the 5 years 2001-2006 and tell me if he has done something for Italy!
Perhaps Newsweek would like to check how many lawsuits have been brought in just 100 days by members of Berlusconi's cabinet and/or other high officials appointed by him against journalists, satirists, bloggers and just about anyone who dare to write, say or post a dissenting or disparaging opinion about what his propaganda is mercilessly selling trough every national news network (basically two, and he controls all of them) as "sweeping reforms" (sweeping indeed...)
yeah, we probably need a revolution .. we should put our politicians on the fork and re-start again guys ... Italian people r hypnotized by false myths like television, models like big brother and stuff like that. Wake up Italians, because we are one of the worse place in Europe. We don't have to defend our politicians anymore, both from right and left. We have to get conscious that we are under the control of dinosaurs inside a palaeollithic sistem ...
Dear Federica, the real brainwashed is someone that has no need to study History to have an opinion, you stupid! . I suggest you "History of the Soviet Union" by Neksric & Geller and "l'Urss da Lenin a Stalin" by Andrea Graziosi as well as "Stalin, the Court of Red Tsar" by Stefan Sebag Montefiore. All the three both available in english and italian, so you have the choice. Referring to the "brainwashed italians" be sure, I think that americans have made an idea,
