Berlusconi uses the strategy of the persecuted by the "red magistracy". Another famous character that said to be persecuted was Sindona. In America you know who Sindona was.

i m italian and live in italy too,and i cant deny we got so many problems in our country i still dunno how we may go on like this but i cant deny that Berlusconi's actually done something either.
italy politics-economy-justice do still suck, but we cant deny sumthin's happened since berlusconi's prime minister.
we all know there's stil a lot to do.we know berlusconi isnt a saint,we know he's done a lot just for himself and his "friends",but what could we do?everyone,EVERYONE's just made the same since italy is a republic.
because the problem is,every single man who gets the power, only think bout himself.u know how many ppl we have in the parliament who should have been arrested loads of times but are still free just coz they rule?doesnt matter of which part they're from:right, left, middle.they are all like that.lies have ruled since democracy was on.but what are we supposed to do?media only tell us what they want us to know, mafia s behind everything, our ministers go on hiding stuff, what could we do?we'd need a revolution or sumtin like that-but it s not the right moment,we gotta help this nation-----at least berlusconi's helping(that's what it seems)a little.he still lies, cheats and steal but is actually doing something more.

    To anyone of Newsweek???s readers:
Please note that NOT of all italian people are Berlusconi???s voters, NOT of all italians are trash-tv-hypnotized idiots. About 50% of italian people agree on claiming that Mr.Berlusconi is a real opportunist liar, an awkward jocker, an enriched briber, a mass-media bucaneer who controls 95% of TVs, 95% of advertising market.

I heard about this article on an Italian state owned television channel during the news at prime time! What other nation apart from a dictator ship is after this type of publicity? Or should I say propaganda?
NEWSWEEK you are guilty of doing propaganda for a totalitarian government. Get your facts straight and write a full apology.

      Ben detto! A great statement!

Regards...

Finaly somebody abroad that looks at Berlusconi for what he is doing. To many times I've read unfair comments about the Italian premier. I'm not saying this because I'm a fervent supporter of Silvio, but only because the good things he is doing are visible to everybody. As the article underlines, the 55% of the Italian population is happy about the right-wing coalition policies. I think this is the best demonstration of the fact that the Italian Government is moving in the right direction! Thank you Mr Barigazzi!

Yes, inkazz, your brain is the one of an "incazz..." because Newsweek has written something positive about the first 100 days of Berlusconi. Reality cannot be denied (by the way, the Messina bridge will be built "mainly" to connect the Italian highways/roads to the Sicilian highways/roads....the high speed railways will reach Sicily only if Berlusconi will live and govern Italy another 30 years...smile if you can....)B.D.

    • Posted By: inkazz @ 08/13/2008 7:39:12 AM

Smile if I can? I'm already looking for jobs abroad. Thanks to Berluska this country only deserves to sink in an ocean of moral, civil, social, political and economic excrements. As far as I can see, it's already happening.

Sad to realize how lies turn into truth. Italy is a tiranny and most Italians do not understand. Take a look http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtHnPYgEVJ0&feature=related

Dear Mister, you can read or to listen to your article in the big part of the Italian media (television and press). This has allowed to praise Berlusconi. Contrarily the Italian don't know the numerous articles that are against berlusconi. This is the information in Italy. I don't think that other propaganda is necessary.

Those who defend Berlusconi should bear in mind they are being accomplices to a dangerous man. The flaming sword of God will deal with them in due time. There is justice in this world. Berlusconi and his acolytes may manage to escape human justice in the short term, but rest assured there's no way they will escape Justice with capital J. Italy out of NATO.

Mr. Barigazzi wrote: "With a similar resolve he tackled the perception that violent crime is on the rise (despite data showing otherwise), and that foreigners are to blame for it."

He should highlight that, if Italians have that perception, is because of berlusconi's tv channels that literally do TERRORISM about that. Their contribution to this WRONG perception is decisive. Once upon a time we had the so called "Stragi di Stato" (Massacres of State) just to give the people the perception that they should withdraw some freedom in order to have more security, now they can have the same result without blood spreading. A "soft fascism"

Dear Leite, Angela Corrias has lived in Italy under two Berlusconi???s governments studying and working as a journalist. She perfectly knows what she???s talking about and she left Italy because the nepotism ruling the journalism environment and the recommendation system ruining the labour market. And, last but not least, because she doesn???t like people judging other people they don???t know. We have different opinions, this doesn???t mean you are allowed to minimise others??? points of view. If you live in Italy you know that the main purpose of Berlusconi???s government is to pass ad personam measures as he is doing already. I???m talking about him because the article was about him, but our other political leaders are not much better, otherwise they would have done something at least against the conflict of interests, dangerous in every section of political, social and economic life.

  • Posted By: inkazz @ 08/13/2008 7:19:46 AM

The very fact that Berluska is regarded as a great leader only by people in the US and Italy should be telling of the cultural level of people in both countries. Dear God, though I'm a hardline atheist, I thank you every minute for not living in the US anymore. US = a humongous supermarket from where I wouldn't even buy a needle!

  • Posted By: inkazz @ 08/13/2008 6:12:55 AM

The current demise of Italy as a country is only to be blamed on the US and its foreign policy of the last 60 years. Berlusconi is in power only thanks to the CIA and its money, which for 60 years have also financed mafia, left- and right-wing terrorism and the Christian Democrats. All this anticommunist rhetoric, at a time when communism is not even mentioned in history books, is pathetic. America should be the last country to give lessons in morals to other countries. Thank God I don't live there anymore. Italy may suck, but I much prefer it to the US, the country that took away the kid in me. Maybe it's a dream, but hopefully I will see Italy exit NATO before I die.

  • Posted By: Gabrielik @ 08/13/2008 7:09:53 AM

mauro3000, what a stupid comment is yours! This is not a football match, and just for your info who wins the elections (unfortunately) rules for all the people and not only for those who voted them, and especially the consequences of their choices affect all the copuntry and not only who voted them. Italian economy is going really badly, and it will be even worse, the government thinks not to lower taxes until 2013, and as usuall (when berlusconi is premier) the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. Good luck also to you, even if you think that a political contest is a football match.
