    How about US dont build missile defence system in Poland and Czeck rep and Russia does not need to find a way to balance it out?
    US has through history tried to control Russia with a gun pointed at them. How about stop threatening Russia and offer some sort of partnership and friendship which is what they have requested since the end of the Soviet Union. Who knows, maybe there can be peace without threatening to whipe Russia off the map

      Medvedev and Putin are smarter than this. They will however do whatever it takes to teach the adventurists a lesson. Frankly, I could personally care less if you eat Saakashvili for being the animal he is.
      The problem is that it makes the liars here look good. Please win one image war, and end the conflict. Emabrass the ones who did these things, and contain the damage. Be smarter than your adversary.

    Since Russia is behaving like the old USSR, we should take Chavez out, one way or another, and if we have to bomb Cuban airfields, do it. The Russians are pushing for some kind of confrontation, so let it be here. The Russians will get stronger, and bolder, and thier presence in this hemisphere is a no-go. Putin is still a KGB Colonel, and he is trying to get back wat the Soviets lost. Chavez has gotta go...

      I hate Chavez, but hope we'd be smart enough to let the Venezuelans eat him. They aren't exactly in love with him. The slightest Unites States move would reinforce Russia, and him. Now if Ivan sticks one missile in our hemisphere, we have to decide how much we want to end the world over missiles in Poland. Putin wasn't a full Colonel either. He is more akin to one of our robber barons than the KGB guy who grew up eating rats. Russia Inc. as a competitor is more akin to what we are facing. Slavic Republic of Gazprom.
      As for the Monroe Doctrine, that was slaughtered forever by Mr. Reagan when he aided a European power, Britan, in a colonial reconquest within our hemisphere, which was the origional purpose of the document.

    Ivan has the ability to begin strategically crippling us for dimes on the dollar. Ivan is the best in the world at assymetry, it was their position for the entire cold war.
