Even though we love Hillary and Bill, our disdain of Mr O has nothing to do with them. We have seen the tall, charming, inexperienced male come and go over and over and over in our offices all over the country. They get the job because they are tall and charming, they come in and make a mess and leave a disaster for the rest of us to clean up. It's a turn style. He will NEVER get the over 40 female vote in large droves, because we are sooooo over it and it has nothing at all to do with Hillary.

Here's the funny thing. They take for granted that everyone who voted for Obama will vote for him in November. Messiah mania is wearing off. 48% of Americans have had enough already. Forget about turning states new colors...how much do these delegates matter: Idaho (19) Wyoming (12) Nebraska (22) Alaska (14) North Dakota (8) Kansas (30)Gov Sebulius aside? 05 total. Pledged delegate difference between Clinton/Obama = 123. And depending on your choice of popular vote total Obama won by 42k out of almost 18M votes. This election is much closer than people want to admit. And the unhappy Clinton supporters are making it interesting. There's the reason why there will be no roll call.

Your comments are revealing your bians based on a very narrow view. It is critical to not paint all people with the same brush. The difference between the tall, charming, inexperienced males that you have known, there are MANY who are as intelligent and capable as they appear. Widen your circle and expand your view. There just has to be someone who is tall, charming and perhaps who was overlooked by the preference for friends and/or family that looked like the decision makers, who is SHARP! Constitutional law professor, whose students of wider persuasions tout a superior intellect, and one who has shown tremendous judgement to select smart advisors, and be willing to hear, just might be SMARTER than some empty suits or misguided or overlooked junior executives that "corporations" like to propel; those willing to get along to cover ignorance.

The problem is less likely the persons, and more likely the decision maker. Just think, is it worth voting for someone or refusing to vote, and allowing the country to continue failed policies, to allow narrowly experienced biases to distort a correct sense of citizenship? BTW, the recent polls do show that those over 40 are predominantly swinging to the BO - in fact most demographics except for the over 65.

It will be a tight election, and we need all of us to vote for the good of the country, and those young men and women drawn into machochistic military battles, with many losing their lives, when an appropriate attempt at firm diplomacy would have worked better. Sure we can wage war, but with the global interdependence whether economic, sociopolitical, or environmental concerns driving a global solution or for countries to work together to solve mutual initiatives, intelligent people need to make intelligent choices. Just suggesting more pragmatic thought processes or decisions be pursued, even while nursing emotional pain.

Mmmmmmm, your crack about how Dems can't keep their pants on further up exposes you. Just another Republicon poseur pretending a Hillary supporter. LOL, who do you think you're fool'n. Love Bill and Hillary indeed, I'll bet you were writing letters to Newt demanding impeachment about 10 years ago. That would be right after it became clear the Whitewater witch hunt had failed miserably.

    Masha:
Please explain to me how HRC, who was in the same political arena and process as Obama, was "cheated" out of the nomination. Last time I checked, Obama had more delegates then HRC and also had the popular vote despite the fuzzy math by her campaign staffers. You were insulted by the media because of her own actions. The fact this woman would say anything to get herself elected and seem more prominent (can you say "sniper fire or my daughter and 9/11??) That is what turned people off about HRC. Last, the most damaging aspect of her campaign was the fact that for some odd reason she felt she deserved to be president. She has never held public office, ever and yet she has 35 years of experience. Sure she has that experience; it???s called being a former governor and president's wife that is her experience. Get over yourselves and back the man who one fair and square. Oh by the way, I am a republican and just might vote for a democrat this time.

How does your comment promote party unity? Obama is the presumptive nominee. Hillary bashing only helps McCain. THe primaries were very close. The delegate distribution included superdelegates, and the pledged delegate count was close enough so that it could have been overturned if the superdelegates wanted to. The article is about Obama needing the Clintons. Maybe you personally can't stand Hillary, but Obama needs her supporters in order to win. Rehashing the primarires does not help

      • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 08/11/2008 4:27:36 PM

        News,

You have a great point, but the hardcore HRC supporters like the PUMAs & Clintons for McCain (can you believe this name) make it rather hard not to respond when all you are getting are threats and the same line that the Nomination was stolen from her and then let's not forget all of the Obama bashing, which really get's ugly..

        Civility works both ways.

        • Posted By: News and Notes @ 08/11/2008 4:44:22 PM

Hillary is not the nominee, and she is doing all she can do. Obama and his campaign (and his supporters) should do everything possible to bring as many Hillary supporters into the fold as they can. Obama's conduct over the summer has shown a sense of complacency that bothers me, Inviting both clintons to speak at the convention, however, is a major step towards reconciliation

haha why do you bother to say anything? being a senator doesn't qualify as "public office"?

honey how much is your vote worth if you're that clueless? what is it with you barrybots?

    • Posted By: emmarcee @ 08/11/2008 1:46:00 PM

Democrats. you should open your eyes atleast now to see how MSM played you. They kept the Edwards affair hidden when his running in the first few polls made sure Obama got the advantage. Then Obama camp invoked the "race" card by attacking Bill and making sure that the strong Black votes are secured. Then the hype got bigger and bigger till Hillary started to fight back. It was too late for her esp when her funds where misspent in the bigging. This is the truth for anybody who was watching the historical primary fight without falling for hype. NOw it is the time to tell DNC you mean business!! They should n't have played us!!

  • Posted By: Ohio Mary @ 08/11/2008 9:23:52 AM

The problem Obama is having is that he really never won the primary. The caucuses were flooded with people who were bussed in to vote for him that should not have been. Hillary supporters were harassed and locked out of the caucuses so his "wins" at the caucuses did not actually reflect the views of the caucus states. Then, when the Rev Wright fiasco came out - he lost even more support. He should not have been chosesn as the candiddate or nominee for the party. Hillary actually won the popular vote.

    • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 08/11/2008 5:16:53 PM

Not only wrong but way old LOL.

You wrote: Hillary supporters were harassed and locked out of the caucuses

This was discussed right after the primaries when some of you started screaming that Clinton supporters were locked out. It was explained that the doors open at a certain time and close at a certain time. Neither of the Candidates had anything to do with these rules and I sincerely doubt that if this actually happened that it would not have made the news.

This is what some of you do not get when you are spreading smears and rumors, everything that each candidate has ever done in public during this election season is on camera. There is always a record of it.

OH, mary--are you serious? People bussed in to vote? Hillary supporters harassed? The crap you're spewing is typical of all the other whiners who can't stomach seeing a black man on the verge of becoming President. Hillary didn't have a chance, and mccracker would have kicked her azz.

    • Posted By: mawrm @ 08/11/2008 10:06:59 AM

What "problem" is Obama having? He's holding his own in the polls. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton has a more REAL problem - her campaign is struggling to rid itself of $20+ million in debt. Hillary Clinton LOST the primaries despite having more advantages coming in than ANY OTHER candidate (money-wise, political connection-wise, name recognition-wise, etc.) . It's over. Let's move on. If Bill Clinton is still not over Hillary's loss whereas Hillary is, that just tells me, it wasn't Hillary Clinton's run, it was Bill running for a 3rd term.

  • Posted By: onthefence2009 @ 08/11/2008 11:57:24 AM

Through this whole campaign I have said I will support whoever wins. But lately Obama has lost more and more of my trust and the final " lie" he told has convinced me he will say anything to get elected. I tried to look past the way he pushed race, I looked past the he said , she said stuff over nafta. I even tried not to take personally when he called most of the Dem. Political Candidates I have supported over the years racists by accusing them of making racist remarks. But surprisingly it was his lie to help Hillary raise money to offset her debt that just cost him my vote. She has raised tons of money for him and made numerous appearances for him, yet he could not even do that one thing, made no EFFORT at all. McCain has my vote whether or not the Clinton's put on show for party unity. Afterall if you listened to Obama, he accused Clinton of saying anything to get elected- well if that's the case, if Obama was truthful in that accusation, we know any support from Clintons to Obama is just as hollow and meaningless and should not sway our votes.

    • Posted By: xczy14 @ 08/11/2008 4:49:17 PM

these obamabotlets rant and rave about obama retiring her debt and not wanting their donated money to go to her. they don't know that it's the custom and that barry's financial supporters are maxed out and can't contribute any more money to barry. but clinton supporters sure can and that's why they are holding out.

  • Posted By: ChuckGoodman @ 08/11/2008 12:09:42 PM

Obama will never win either of the Clinton's over. They'll continue to use him like they use everyone else. Obama's a whimp for giving in. Edwards can't be a part of the convention because he's unfaithful. So let's get old faithful Bill to add credibility to the function.........Give me a break...I lost all faith in the Democratic Party.

    • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 08/11/2008 2:40:20 PM

It is sort of amazing that they are trying to crucify Edwards when Bill has been sleeping around on Hillary for years and probably still is. Men like that do not stop cheating untilthey are no longer able to do it, but then there is always the all important BLUE PILL !

Barry. Enough is enough. You must put the Clintons in their place. They simply cannot accept that you are now the leader of the Democratic Party and are likely to remain the leader for the next thirty years. You cannot allow them to continue to challenge you. Alllow them to speak at the convention only if you can edit their speeches. Allow Bill to speak only if in the next week he explicitly vows allegiance to you. Make him read a prepared statement. It should go something like this: Hillary and I unequivocally support Senator Obama. He now embodies the hopes and aspirations of the Democratic Party. We are ready to follow on the path that he will set for us. We understand that our time has come and gone. We regret if at various points we have given the appearance of not being fully in awe of him.

Well guys, I think I've made my point on this site. It was interesting and fun to debate and argue. But after awhile it seems redundant. You find yourself repeating the same things, and you start lose self respect, going negative or just for laughs instead of really proving your point. You start to learn about society, from both sides, the republican, the democrat, the independant. You hear from smart people, and from dumb people, and from some just plain crazy or negative people, and everything in between. The reason I was interested in these comments was because I felt I brought something new to the table, and wasn't just repeating other people's comments which I've also seen. I've seen people go from honorable and clean, to sloppy and negative, like sharenews for example, he or she was one of the most clean cut arguers on the site, but now she or he has become petty and negative, calling Obama supporters name callers when he or hse calls them name callers in the same comment, or argueing as if he or she contradicted the other person, when in fact, he or she didn???t even read the whole statement in the first place. Sharenews used to separate fact and opinion, and only tell truth, but now sharenew???s fact and opinion have become one as he or she comes up with more and more fabricated lies. I used to respect sharenews in the beggining, but now I???ve lost all respect whatsoever. It was a fun ride. But now I'm starting to see my own dignity slip away, and I don't want to see myself end up so low, just as I???ve seen people like sharenews end up, just angry and frustrated becoming more negative and opinionated as time goes on, to the point where I don???t even know the message I was trying to convey in the first place. So I'm going to leave with some dignity. Maybe you'll hear from me in another four years, who knows. Just have fun commenting, try to keep it clean, and don't get too angry or frustrated, it's just not worth it. (last comment)unless I have something new to say, but besides that (last comment)

name callers should be names, sorry. But thanks for your support, If there's ever a time where newsweek comments erupt into a war, like I've seen before, I'll be back to voice my opinion.

Obama supporters mischaracterized every word he said during the primaries. I like and support Obama, I just don't like the attitude of many of this supporters. I must admit, it makes reluctant to support him. He's lucky that McCain is so obviously inadequate. Still, a little respect for what President accomplished is needed. Perhaps this younger generation has been unconsciously affected by the constant negative blitz by the Republicans during his tenure. I just don't understand their lack of respect.

    • Posted By: xczy14 @ 08/11/2008 4:17:59 PM

i thought about that too. then i realized that the MSM has been relentlessly hammering at sen clinton for two decades and that's all they have heard. if you read their comments they don't know a thing about the clinton presidency or senator clinton's legislative record. some dude up there said hillary had never held public office. this the best they got? and then there are the other ones drunk on soda believing barry's the second coming of the messiah. and the really ignorant ones who try to back up their arguments with "facts". it's all about hating on the poster and the opponent. look at how the MSM treated sen clinton as apposed to barry.

  • Posted By: lbrillante @ 08/11/2008 10:02:38 AM

I don't think he does need the Clintons. I am glad that Hillary is campaigning for him because it soothes over wounds for the awful campaign she ran against him. I haven't forgiven her completely yet and I am furious with Bill and things he said during the campaign. So as far as I am concerned Bill can go fly a kite and stay home from the convention.

  • Posted By: paulte @ 08/11/2008 10:13:08 AM

What he really needs is Hillary's primary supporters. It's the height of folly for people in a party not to rally round the winner of the nomination barring some ideological rift. Obama & Hillary have little difference in political philosophy. This thing has just gotten personal and it never should. I don't think he actually needs either Billary or Hillary per se. He'd have a better shot at the Presidency if both would fade away. And no matter what Hillary says her Hillraisers won't let up. They will say she is just doing the required talk for the party approval she needs to run in 2012. There is probably 20% of the Democratic vote that Obama won't get because of this Hillary vs Obama feud.

    • Posted By: xczy14 @ 08/11/2008 4:08:59 PM

"I don't think he actually needs either Billary or Hillary per se. He'd have a better shot at the Presidency if both would fade away."

      Party unity?

"she is doing the required talk for party approval"

so is campaigning for barry while he's off hiding from the media "talk for party approval"?

    • Posted By: mcminvt @ 08/11/2008 11:39:55 AM

Only partially correct. Given their similarity in "political philosophy," I'm writing in Hillary's name because she is more qualified for the job. I voted for the party in 2000, again in 2004. This time around I'm voting my convictions.

  • Posted By: ndrock @ 08/11/2008 8:34:03 AM

ON the other hand: I would have voted for Mrs. Clinton, but never, never will I vote for Obama. So this is one supporter of Clinton that will not get the Dem vote, no matter what the media does or says. As much as the media has pushed Obama on us, most of us are too smart to fall for all that "Obama rapture" that Newsweek and the the other media would have us believe.

    • Posted By: sharenews @ 08/11/2008 3:45:54 PM

You are right, there are more of us out there than people realize. In the end, it will be reflected with McCain winning the GE. : - )

  • Posted By: ChuckGoodman @ 08/11/2008 12:16:16 PM

Obama will never win the support of the Clintons. The Clintons will ruin him because he is weak and doesn't have the guts to stand up to them. When the Democratic National Convention is all over Hillary will be victor because Obama keep backing down and letting the Clintons have their way. Obama doesn't display the strength or experience to be a meaningfully worthy President.

I feel that it is long over due that both camps admit they need each other and move for the good of the party. Clinton ran a very good campain and so deserves recondnition for it. Clintons on ther other hand need to show their willingness to support Obama if they believe they are considering 2012. Time to get it together.

Hussein Obama is sooo like the Garth Brooks hit song......."I've Got Friends In Low Places"...........

Today, the GOP announced the addition of some new ???friends??? in a press release.

The most recent updates include Barack Obama???s associations with recently jailed Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick; Penny Pritzker, who serves as the Obama campaign???s national finance chair and played a role in subprime lending that led to the fall of Superior Bank, leaving hundreds of clients without part of their savings; and ACORN, a voter-registration organization that has been accused of or implicated in voter-fraud schemes in numerous states. ACORN has endorsed Obama and pledged to spend $35 million registering voters this fall.

BarackBook will be updated routinely between now and Election Day with additional, new Obama friends. Users can receive automated updates or invite others to view BarackBook by installing the Facebook application [at BarackBook.com].
