The cover story "What Bush Got Right" is clearly the thinnest "Double Issue" in the history of modern publishing for a reason.
Gee, I wonder why ? Clearly too much cronyism and incompetence helps lead to the Worst President's Ever in most every category.

Oh me and my wife just loved the cover.of Bush. It now graces our dartboard.

Fareed's article "What Bush got Right" is nonsense. Bush, like Zakaria, claimed the operation had to do with the "War on Terror," yet the invasion and occupation only increased terrorism as our own intelligence warned. Zakaria said in an article in 2003 that "I have no regrets that we toppled Saddam Hussein." What does the anti-war left have to learn from Zakaria, a propagandist for Bush's vision of "democracy" back then, and an appollogizer now?

Does anyone else want to tell the lady who wrote the MyTurn about conserving gas that she does not need a minivan for only having two kids? You can carry your two kids and a week's worth of groceries in a more gas-conservative vehicle! The whole article is a joke because of that fact. America at it's best conserving gas but also at its worst because she thinks she's doing such a good thing but not willing to do what's most obvious, get a different car!

I think it's ironic that your "double issue" of what bush "got right" is one of the thinnest issues i've received in all the years i've been a subscriber.

Anna Quindlen is typically spot on. But her article, The Caucasian Card, seemed incomplete. First, tough stuff doesn't build character, it reveals it. Second, John McCain, an opponent of affirmative action, is a member of affirmative action, not the merit club. He got into the Naval Academy on the strength of his father and grandfather being Admirals. His woefully low graduation proves that others more worthy should have been admitted instead of him. His only job outside of the military and congress is a job given to him by his father-in-law in the beer business. Senator McCain is the recipient of a boost by being born and marrying the second time, a woman from a wealthy family, not his hard work and success.

As for the race card, McCain is all over that one. He voted against the federal Martin Luther King holiday and when a governor of his state of Arizona wanted to repeal it, he agreed. Judge McCain on his merit. A man of privilege, who wears $500+ shoes, has houses worth over $13 million, and doesn't like the idea of affirmative action? I guess he only likes it for himself.

" What Bush Got Right " ? It's a good thing you current issue wasn't titled " What Bush Got Wrong ", the mailman would have had a hard time fitting that issue in my mailbox !

Thanks, Anna Quindlen, for your great "The Last Word" commentary on "The Techie In Chief". It is not too much to ask of any politician, that they keep up with the times with modern communication and especially now, when so much is transacted and communicated on the web. This is not an age issue; it's an Out Of Touch issue. I say the same thing to my interviewees when they were born in the computer generation but they cannot operate a laptop or navigate the web. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN AND WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING since 1996? I want to ask but that's not politically correct. We need to expect these basic minimum computer and internet skills from anyone in public office, especially the President of the USA. Focusing on wartime military credentials from the 70's that have nothing to do with the job at hand and do not translate into Commander In Chief skills, does not cover up the fact that you do not know how to Reply All on email. If Obama were merely "aware" or "familiar" with the Internet, he would be just as much - even more - guilty of the same. It's not age! It's being out of touch and not caring about your out-of-touchness!

The more I endure this political campaign the more I am sure of two things:
    1) We need to add "None of the Above" to all ballots and if "None of the Above" wins the popular vote, all parties have to reconvene their conventions and pick different candidates!
    2) We need to have a one-time national election to vote out all incumbent Congressmen and Senators and elect different candidates, in hopes that THEY can get meaningful legislation passed!
Our Nation has become a collection of do-nothing leaders (term used loosely).
