    Would it be novel if all of you mouth-breathing republicans were as concerned about our young men and women who are dieing in Iraq as you are about covering Bush and cheney's asses?

        You must be talking about Rev.Phelps and his followers. They go to military funerals and blame our soldiers deaths on our gov. because we "harbor" homosexuals. Phelps is a lunatic. He tried to pull this crap in Athens not long ago. Thank God for the Patriot Guard Riders; they surrounded the funeral and kept Phelps and his crazies out.

    Pat Buchanan said yesterday that Obama can not be caught by McCain. He described McCain as the "candidate no one wants". He went on to say to the delight of the MSNBC Group that This will be the most lopsided victory for Democrats in 60 years. He said despite the attempt by McCain to alter his stance on the war that no one believes what he say because of the constant repositioning of himself on the issues that are meaningful.

We are definitely 180 out but I admire his talent for filtering out the baloney and seeing the truth.     Cheney will emerge as the villain of the Bush administration, along with Rumsfeld and Carl Rove. What surprises me is Condi Rice tried to dictate to the sovereign countries during the first few years of Bush years. I suppose it must be at the behest of Cheney, who is pretty much sidelined lately. Or is he?

    This was an excellent article. The country needs a change. While Obama is resented as a newcomer, he is smart and will bring new thinking into our government. And hopefully, new directions. If McCain is elected, many of the same old faces will remain, if reshuffled a bit. That would reinforce the old directions, old thinking. Time for a change. And that goes for Congress, too!

        First I can understand his aides didnt tell him that there are only 50 states. Second, Is there anything that the self obsessed, super star Obama hasnt done wrong in your eyes?...I can atleast admit that McCain isnt perfect, but is a far better candidate than the less experienced Obama. McCain is at least realistic in the fact that America has a long tough road ahead..Obama has the child fantasy that his new found super powers that the media bestowed upon him will solve it all..

          If you consider the economic chaos this country in McCain is the last person anyone would want as president.
          The current situation is reminiscent of the S&L crisis, and a lot of names seem to be also reminiscent.
          As you may recall McCain was one of the Keating five and while he was not convicted he was rebuked by the ethics committee for "Poor Judgment"
          But the name Bush is also linked as you may recall Neil Bush was the president of Silverado S&L and required a taxpayer bail out of 1.6 billion, Reagan was President and GHW Bush was Vice president.
          McCains economic advisor in hiding is Texas senator Phil Gramm who engineered the deregulation so the current crisis was made possible.
          If there is a multi billion bail out it's because money disappeared, only money doesn't just disappear it moves from on pocket to another and is then replaced by the tax payers

          This same economic chaos occurs with each Republican President, Nixon, Reagan and now Bush.
          Putting McCain in office is only going to continue the tradition maybe that works for you but it doesn't work for America.

    Bush used tough diplomicy consistently for many months to bring a crisis (North Korea) to a conclusion! Within three years Americans will be getting reliable news regarding Bush decisions he made and took over the last 71/2 years and we'll see how sound they were in the 20/20 hindsight.
    Bill Clinton will remain the dunce and impeached short-sighted jerk. and Obama will not change this!Nor will Hillary.
    Bush's Approval has consistently been higher that the US Congress, ran by the Democrats! McCain will find a lift in this fact threw the months ahead. For Obama the rocks and shoals have only started!

      Let's review Bush's approach to North Korea:
      He said it was "unacceptable" for NK to have a nuclear weapon - NK went ahead with their nuclear program.
      Then he said it was "unacceptable" for NK to have ballistic missiles, which they tested by firing over Japan ON THE 4TH OF JULY!
      Now he is doing the same type of diplomacy that Clinton did and, surprise, surprise, it's working! So the only time he got it right on NK was when he followed Clinton's lead (gasp!).

      Bush has the lowest approval of any president in the last 60 years. He has been even lower than Nixon before his last day in office. While the congress indeed has lower numbers by national polls, individually congressmen and women have much higher ratings.

      History will remember Clinton for presiding over the biggest economic expansion in American history, and balancing the budget for the first time in almost 40 years. Bush will be remembered for lying to us about Iraq and sending other people's children to die in the same type of war he was too chicken to serve in when duty called him. Too chicken to serve when it was his turn and too cavalier to go to war when neither him, nor his children, nor his nephews and nieces have volunteered for duty. Long after Bush is gone, our children will be paying for this war.

      If you think just because we find Bush a moron in the present that automatically means that history will be kind to him, you have ano0ther thing coming.

        Clintons diplomacies included renting out the Lincoln bedroom to a what later turned out be be a chinese spy..And he had a policy of lie, deny ,deny, lie, lie and lie, get caught, lie, deny, get called into court, deny, lie, lie get caught lying, still lie and deny, then impeached and then play like it never happened! And as far as ratings, if someone goes into a political office for the sole purpose of ratings then they shouldnt be there in the first place...Also do yourself a favor and dont look stupid talking about a Presidents time served in the military while defending Clinton..His dumbass was busy draft dodging and "not inhaling"....Just remembering him as President standing in front of the vet cemetary hanging a wreath for fallen soldiers is just sick. Just goes to show even if you run and hide from your country at a time of war, you can still be a President of the United States.

          Bush dodged the draft as much as Clinton did. Because Johnson had refused to call up the reserve units, being in the National Guard was a sure way to avoid the draft and in Texas as with many other states, there was a long waiting list to join a National Guard Unit, but the Bushes used their influence to get Georgie a position in the National Guard.

              You could not be drafted into the Regular Army while serving in the National Guard.

                He was already in the Airforce after being in the National Guard, so that may have been the difference, but then he received a notice that he was drafted and he should report to the srmy base, so he went to his commanding officer to request an emergancy leave of absense; when his officer asked how long he would need, he replied, "About three years, sir." Things got a bit ugly after that, but was eventually straightened out.

              Clinton did not dodge the draft by going to another country, England to be exact. He wa already on a student deferment and wond a Rhodes Scholarship. His "draft dodging" came after that, when he used a powerful politician to get him into an ROTC program. Clinton did receive a draft notification, but since he had began a term at a University, he would be allowed to finish the school year before having to report, during that school year is when he got into the ROTC program, which voided his draft notification. Before he began the program there was talk about a change in the policies of the draft that pretty much guarenteed that Clinton woul not get drafted, so he asked to be dropped from the ROTC program and became a 1A for the draft. In Dec 1969 a draft lotery was held and Clinton's number was 311, high enough that it probably would not be selected and it wasn't.

              Good point, but while Clinton was honest about his draft-dodging, Bush always lied about his. Not only "that, but as president Clinton always steered away from trouble while Bush has been cavalier in sending other people's sons and daughters to the same type of un-winnable war he refused to serve in when duty called. How cowardly and how ironic: Iraq is the same type of war a young Bush would NOT have served in, and neither are his daughters and nephews.

    George Bush was dealt 9/11 eight months after he was sworn in. It was a blow that no one expected and the decisions were made based on the information that he was given. Both Democrats and Republicans agreed to invade Iraq. Mistakes were made, but I hope and pray that we've made that country a better place. I believe in the integrity of this country and know that our intentions were about securing a region and making the world a safer place.

      The congress agreed to give the president authorization to invade Iraq based off the, uhm misinformation that Pres. Bush gave to them. I do not think it was mistakes but rather a deliberate attempt to distort the facts.

            Because he got caught getting oral sex from an intern and then lied under oath about it. If Clinton were a Republican he would have been forced from office by Republicans and not protected by the Democrats like he was.               He was found not guilty by Congress, case closed. The Repugnants prosecuted Clinton for doing what some of them had done. Newt Gingrich admitted to having an affair during the time he was damning Clinton for it. McCain admitted to having mulitple affairs while married to his first wife, including a year long affair with his current wife, before filing for divorce from his first wife. Hypocrits. Nixon committed far worse crimes than Clinton did and the repugnants didn't force him out.

                Spoken like a true liberal. Yep, politics is a dirty business, but someone has to do it. Lets try to stay focused on the issues and not on the politicians sex lives. While we do expect a higher moral standard from our leaders, and rightfully so, since they are suppose to be examples for us and, especially for our impressionable young people, reality tells us we will never be able to monitor human nature, regardless of the office they hold. No, I am not excusing them, nor will I ever, and judging anyone is God's job, unless he has, recently, appointed someone else to do that, without informing the rest of us. Anyway, all I am saying is lets move on, and hope there will be more discreation in their private lives. I'm quite sure their spouses will sufficently deal with them on that issue.

                    Well, yes, Rad, thats true, the political leaders of both parties have been guilty of indiscretion and poor choices in their behavior. In fact, the entire world has such people, so, I have learned that the only one I can really ever expect to do anything about on this planet is---myself. Pray for the rest, and do what we have to do to protect our rights, and those of our family and country, then leave the rest to God. If everyone would work on improving their own little cornner of the world, and showing respect for those who are different in the way they do things, as long as they are not intruding on our way, and in helping those we can, in our own area, then perhaps we may see the beginnings of peace, but then, I woke up to the same old reality. Utopia will come, but not today--so far. Anyway, I respect your opinion concerning the issue, and agree.

            Tsk Tsk...get your own material, Rad, instead of plagiarizing. The right wingers, as you refer to them, are the only ones who seem even remotely interested in retaining any symbolance of the standards out forefathers founded out country on. Believe it or not, and as "corny" as you may think it sounds, there are still some of us in this country who believe in the Mayberry R.F.D. type lifestyle, and the feel the morals of this generation has gone completely out of control. Parents either refuse to parent, or are forbidden to discipline, by well meaning laws that don't really work--those who abuse will continue to, so these laws only serve to prevent parents from being able to punish without fear of being charged with abuse, so, children feel they can control things, thus gangs are formed and children are being taught to participate in drive by shootings, ect., teachers are, often poor quality due to
            inadequate pay, and the list goes on...Before you say it, yes, those kind of things have always been a problem, but there does seem to be an increase. What to do about it? Maybe get back to old fashioned values that actually worked.

Is the life of an Israeli soldier more dear than the life of an American soldier? If the Iraq war is not about protecting Israel, then one has to answer these questions!

They in fact are not ''the same'',which is why IDF is known as a ''defense''force rather than one that takes offensive landbased operations anywhere in the Middle East outside of their own region. Have you forgotton your history so soon? During the First Gulf War,why did the Israelis not attack Saddam even when they were getting civilian centers nailed by SCUD missles? Were US and Israeli ''interests,the same''? No. Israel refrained from any attack on Iraq during that war as they have done in this one for reasons more paramount than have been posited. Namely,that the threats to Israel lay from its immediate surroundings. Not those eminating from an Iraq. This is a wasteful exercise at best anyway. Georgia and NATOS ''interests are the same''yet there is no NATO in Georgia defending it.. Britain and the US share similar interests but they pulled their troops from Basra. If Putin tries to pull the brass ring in his former western provinces,alarming the EU,they will call upon us to pull their chesnuts from the fire,despite there not being a single German,French or Belgian boot on the ground in Iraq.

After hearing him go off on Jews for a while, I asked him if Jews were so bad, why is the G OLD P kissing up to them for there vote. He came a bit unglued and said they didn't need the Jews. That America backed the wrong horse. That the Jews have destroyed America and have corrupted the morals of the Country. That they control the law, the banks and the media.     I for am a Bush fan, in my view the only thing he has done wrong is spending to much money. Prescription drugs was a mistake. WE should have cut all well fare and social programs inorder to pay for the war on terror. Democrats turned us into a wellfare state and he did nothing to reverse that.

      I'm with you cut off any and all help to the poor and helpless, America will be a better place after they starve or die with out medical care, and all that disability that goes to those Vietnam vets those guys should just get out of those wheelchairs and find a job or starve with the rest of the poor, and while we're at it put whats left of Social Security into the genseral fund for the war and let those lazy old people starve or get a job as we;;. And Medicare just get rid of it if people have to chose between food or medical care they can eat grass, it will save gas for lawn mowers if nothing else.

        I forgot unemployment, why would people think they are entitled to grocery money just because their job was sent to China or India, there are no jobs to be had so it's a waste of money and food to keep them alive for even a few months, if we end the unemployment program we can say unemployment is always zero. and us compasionate conservative will look good

      Hummm...you may have a point there, I am a firm believer that welfare was intended as a temporary help--not as a permanent way of life. Its great that we live in a country that has programs to help people who are down on their luck through no fault of their own, but it should be focused on helping the person to be able to become self-supporting & independant. Most people do not want to be on welfare any longer than they need to, and they feel more pride in themselves when they can be self sufficent. I believe welfare programs should be designed to help those who need it to become educated, get a degree in something that will get them off the system and become self supporting. But we know there will always be some who will play the system for all they can, for as long as they can, and that needs to be addressed so that a reasonable time peroid is established to enable a person on welfare to become independant Having children should not be a deterrent in this plan, as the program would pay for childcare while a welfare recipient goes to class for their degree, or arranges for after school programs until the parent could pick them up. Some schools have such programs for working parents. More effort needs to be made toward getting people off welfare, and into becoming tax payers like the rest of us, instead of draining taxes from working people. the new attitude should be Just Do It!---Not excuses for why it can't be done, so--Are you listening out there, government of the people, by the people & for the people? Just Do It!!
