What a beautiful picture of President Bush at the top of this page! Newsweek even gave him an aura! The spirit of God must dwell within him, and Fareed Zakaria is his prophet! Hurrah! I can hardly recognize the sadistic little thug George W. Bush who disgraced the office of the Presidency and turned the United States into a pariah and outcast from the assembly of civilized nations. Now that Newsweek is picturing Bush like a Sunday-school Jesus, I guess we can forget that his economic program was nothing but a giveaway to Halliburton and hedge-fund managers, and it's time for all of us to get down on all fours and pucker up for some serious ass-kissing along with Fareed Zakaria and whichever editor green-lighted his ludicrous essay.

Comment: Why would the world now be better off if Saddam and Sons were still running Iraq? Fareed doesn't say. The author just says that everyone knows it was a mistake to invade and assumes that we all know he is correct.

I wonder if the Kuwaitis, Israelis, and the Kurds are among those who agree with what the author "knows" to be obvious.

The Iraqi people would have taken out Saddam themselves. The Iraqi's would have done it the "Iraqi way" They didn't need our help. Unfortunately the US keeps poking our nose into things we shouldn't and when we do poke our nose into a given situation we fail to gain full understaning as to "why that is".

Diplomacy and time would have fixed the Iraqi problem not firepower.

My point is that it is not obvious to all that it was a mistake to take out Saddam - a point the article assumes is obvious to all. It probably is not obvious to the Kurds, the Israeilis or the Kuwaitis. It probably is not obvious to even the Iraqi Shias - the majority population in the country.

It is also not obvious why it was a mistake to take out a ruthless dictator and replace it with the Arab world's first democracy.

It will be a very difficult time for the new president, who ever he will be.You are right when you say who ever it is needs to go back and read and think over the things that were done wrong, and how some of them have been halfway corrected. I guess I should say started to be corrected. This world of ours is getting smaller all the time and we need to be able to talk to other countries, listen to them also and not go things alone. They talk about experiance being very important, well Bush had a lot of experiance and look at the mess we are in now. It will take someone who will read, listen and talk to other countrys. Study their beliefs, work with them. I just don't think McCain can do that or will do that. He is stuck in the past, out of date and very grumpy old man.Look at his stance when he talks. This was a very interesting artical.I have voted republican for a long time but will vote for Obama this november. Congress and the Senate need to cross lines and work together to get things passed that need done, no pork. Think about what is best for our country and do it.

    • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 08/10/2008 10:02:47 PM

Dems wont do it. They do not cross lines... they refuse to put down their Americans Suck First campaign and love The Pork too much.

In any decision made in human life, no matter how old, no matter how smart no matter what, the good judgement is and must be the base of any move, any decision. It is a say that 'you need to turn your tongue in your moouth 7 times before you express your opinion to avoid unwanted consequences', i.e weigh the pros and cons, get advices from other thinkers around you and maybe away from you. It does not mean being wweak

Now, say it. The french were right all along!! If you are my best friend and I tell you I am going to commit suicide by jumping froma 40 story building, will you jump with me??? I don't think so.. This is what happened with the french, they knew bush would commit suicide by invading Iraq.

    • Posted By: thehappyamerican @ 08/10/2008 10:00:21 PM

And Bush has NOT commitied suiside. and his approval is sevral healthy points above the Dems, as leaders of the Congress.
The French do not know very much. They needed the United states to rescue them a few times now.

I am so anti Bush. However I do agree with you.It is better late than never that Bush changed his ways.

      You are a moron

    • Posted By: morgan103 @ 08/10/2008 9:54:45 PM

All of you anti-bush people are idiots

  • Posted By: sundrips @ 08/10/2008 9:52:13 PM

This article suggest the biggest reason the manners of Bush failed relates to his error of trying to do business the old way. What a misstatement! Unless you reconfigure the terms, ???OLD WAY,??? to those of Mafia or perhaps Jimmy Hoffa, among others.

Oh, it would be nice if we could simply forget this Presidents Criminal behavior for the past eight years, but then that would make us all a party to his crimes.

Fact is, in addition to his crimes against America, he has tried multiple times to cover up his wrong doings by asking his underlings to lie for him, but that too is failing.

The best reason I can think of for writing this article in the manner it is offered, is to say Bush deserves a legacy, of a sort. I wonder what other Americans think of that?

  • Posted By: dorkdude @ 08/10/2008 9:06:41 PM

Bush is a total a$$wipe. He is an embarassment. Where are the editorials about his latest comments on China. They should improve their human rights record? Did he forget about the secret prisons where he has the CIA send their kidnapping victims to be tortured? Oh yea, it's ok to do that if they are foreigners. If there Americans he can designate them as "enemy combatants" and then torture them too!

The people in San Fancisco have it right. The only fitting tribute to this POS is a sewar plant named after him.

    • Posted By: mrwnt10 @ 08/10/2008 9:43:02 PM

      Let's see here:

China: imprisons people for dissenting, referring to the president in a "disrespectful manner" in letters, writing anti-gov editorials. Heck, sometimes if you're lucky they send you to a reeducation camp for a few years

USA: Reserves the option of torture (which I don't espouse) in order to obtain possibly american-life-saving information from brutal known terrorists.

And you say the US is worse than China? They're called "enemy combatants" because we are in a war, and they are in combat against us, making them our enemy. Try using your brain a little

Yes sir, we should all follow SF's lead. Why, how they provide such great sanctuary for people who disobeyed our sovereignty and laws and ILLEGALLY crossed out border! What a great role model for us!

Floridave, you are too, harsh my friend but I agree to an extent.

  • Posted By: obmf @ 08/10/2008 9:33:20 PM

The changes in the Bush administrations policies have only occurred over the last two years of his presidency. Why didn???t you write about the domestic policies of this administration and the years it will take to fix

I agree wholeheartedly look up Prescott Bush. It runs in the family.

  • Posted By: burns26 @ 08/10/2008 9:16:32 PM

It is good to have an open mind so that you can close it on something good. Pluralism is an absurd postulation that. Good and Evil can not be based on a popular vote.

    • Posted By: niteshft_1 @ 08/10/2008 9:30:14 PM

An open mind never closes, even if it has found something good.

  • Posted By: apazrjon @ 08/10/2008 9:26:16 PM

i don't understand, was this an editorial or were they trying to pass this off as a news story.

Obviously, niteshft_1, he has no clue as to what makes a great leader. Ignore him.

george has done nothing right at all. He is the most evil president and the worse president in the history of the United States. Nancy should had impeached him the first day the Democratics had control of the congress

    • Posted By: Mike_L in kcmo @ 08/10/2008 9:18:23 PM

wow, nancy, are you kidding? I had not heard of her until I was in Cali and saw a picture of her, in a gay pride parade, walking hand in hand with one of the co-founders of nambla (north american man boy love). Liberals morales are very questionable. You follow her and I will stick with an all-American like W. Why wont she allow a straight vote on drilling? Why does she studder and stumble when asked serious questions, just like GOdbama. Take him off a script and he has a tough time answering questions. The only change Godbama knows is how to change his mind...... DAILY.

  • Posted By: niteshft_1 @ 08/10/2008 9:13:54 PM

bucksmith, can you elaborate on that statement, or is that the extent of your intalect?

  • Posted By: ourantispam @ 08/10/2008 3:04:19 PM

What a "feckless" article. I am still trying to find what "bush did right:.

star3. You are kidding right? Saddam "invited" us in? Tell me you are joking. By the way, star, good luck with that drilling thing. In 2025, when the price of a gallon of gas is down 2 cents and the price of a barrel of oil has gone down 75 cents, from that drilling, sing your praises then. As an aside, those price figures are from the bush energy department.

    • Posted By: Skypoint @ 08/10/2008 4:49:03 PM

No, ourantispam, After 12 years, 17 UN resolutions and still firing shots over Inspector's heads, I don't think star3 is joking.

      • Posted By: ourantispam @ 08/10/2008 7:56:58 PM

        Hey skypoint.

If, Iraq was deserving of a war, then it was for the UN to decide. Those were UN resolutions. Now, the matter was presented to the UN and the UN did not consent to the invasion. As a matter of fact, the resolution invade was withdrawn. No UN finding that Iraq was in in violation, hence no legality to the war.

        • Posted By: Skypoint @ 08/10/2008 9:11:38 PM

We weren't talking about legality. You asked if star3 if he was joking when he said invading Iraq was an invitation. I said I didn't think so for the reasons stated above.

  • Posted By: niteshft_1 @ 08/10/2008 9:08:28 PM

jtm236, you should never bash an article if you didn't read it whole.
