I think anyone that even 'considers' Paris Hilton as President, has completely lost their minds. Her publicist put those words in her mouth, if they made any sense. 'Playing stupid' is not always an act.

Amen to that....I have to agree though that IF the decision was down to her and Obama.....But it's NOT!!! Let's focus on the issue and get all the uneducated people educated. There is so little time left. It's funny I admit, but not serious.....Maybe she will bring in some of the crowd that we need to vote, who knows, it could be a good thing after all.....

This article is a waste of trees and paper. Mostly a waste of time.

in defense of newsweek, this article is under "culture/ideas". NOT "news" or "politics". so it shouldn't confuse anyone or be taken too seriously. i just wish the columnist would have taken the idea of her running for office more seriously instead of cliche's like red carpets and the color pink. that would have been much more interesting and suprisingly revealing about our canidates: real or pretend.

Paris should officially declare herself as a write-in candidate.

  • Posted By: nniksaunders @ 08/12/2008 12:13:54 PM

Paris Hilton should be put to sleep. She contributes nothing worthwhile to society, let alone humanity. I would go as far as to say that Paris Hilton is a detriment to the youth of the world. Is this supposed to be funny? Is there nothing else going on in the world? Why don't we focus on something more worthwhile. I would support a vote to ban all photographs, print, media, ect. regarding Paris Hilton. I'm not too proud to even be regarding her at all. Thanks for the nausea.

    Hey Mr Hamin,
Paris hilton is absolutely right about her comments. the problem is with Mccain who thought Obama looks like her and even went on to defend that. Maccain is Old and tired. who wouldn't after 35 years in Washington doing the same thing. The other problem is people like you who call themselve jounalists and are paid for reporting thrash like this on one of the most respected names in news reporting. God save America.

Chill out people. It was meant to be humorous (which was clearly obvious by just glancing at the title). If you don't have a sense of humor, then why in the world did you bother reading the article in the first place? It's not like this is some part of a grand conspiracy to actually bring Paris Hilton to Washington. It's your own fault if you don't have the ability to laugh and enjoy life. Geez.

It sounds to me like she would fit in perfectly with the Clinton Admin. both past and present.

  • Posted By: rodge2001 @ 08/12/2008 12:09:30 PM

These are 7 reasons she shouldN'T be president. Take the prospect seriously and you would see that she is pretty much just a qualified to lead as any canidate when it really comes down to what the presidency has become over the last 16 years. Call me crazy, she'd do one hell of job.

My - My The use of the English language has been abused. You should have finished school. Paris Hilton, would have done a better job than Bush/Cheney. Their secretaries would have done a better job. I know this country doesn't want a women president; they might hesitate before starting a war. Bush was not the worst president, president Johnson has that honor, and he also was from Texas,
I want to thank the republican party for the last 8 years; you gave us your best. We are so glad, that you spent millions of our money, to get the democrats out of the White House.
I LIKE THE ARTICLE. It points out that McCain is getting some bad advise. Either that, or he should think before he talks.

This article is a piece of ***.

Yeah, and what's wrong with it? Through her MILLIONS & CONNECTIONS, she could set examples and just maybe surprise a few. In the entertainment business, it is dog eat dog. To make money, a person needs to keep moving or get run over. Paris, for all her foolishness, makes a great income, lives well and is a good HWP. There, in itself, is an example for everyone to make great money, live well and keep healthy. Gregory Santana of Pico Rivera

Is this the kind of news that we should expect from Newsweek? Come on. Stop playing to the common denominator of society. Ramin, pull your head out and do some real writing.

She probably would do as well as any politician! We have losers in Washington ( both parties)and one more won't make a difference! At least she can afford not to pay her own way. The video adds a little humor to this pathetic choice of candidates!

    Hello Mr Ramin Setoodeh,
I rekon Paris is absolutely right and correct. John Mccain who has even tried to justify why he used Paris Hilton and Britney is old and tired. Who wound'nt after 35years doing the same thing. Good Jounalism in the USA is also as dead as Mccain and thats why a story like this could be posted on one of if not the most respected nnames in news reporting in the world and not in the national inquirer. shame on you . and you get paid for this. God save America

Rich whore running the world. We are seriously living in our last days.lol

  • Posted By: oldefarte @ 08/12/2008 11:57:34 AM

Well, in truth, Ms. Hilton HAS been a national figure for about two and a half times as long as Sen. Obama and, considering how little substance has mattered to date in this campaign, there's no reason to believe that she could do much worse than the two leading contenders. I am a tad appalled that Britney, who was also a featured player in the McCain ad, was, like, totally snubbed in favor of Rihanna for the VP post. Oh, also, Argentina already has a "Pink House" for its president, so repainting the White House pink would be totally "yesterday" and "not hot".

I Love the USA but if Paris Hilton went to the White House I would move to another country. What is the world coming to when we as Americans discuss this even as a joke.

    • Posted By: SeriouslyRong @ 08/12/2008 11:10:04 AM

Because America is a joke anymore, dont you get it? The USA will very soon be conqured by force with the attitudes and sentimet present, we are ripe for picking and the rest of the world knows about the mineral wealth and resources present on US soil. They will simply take it. Georgia is a dry run, our military couldn't scramble home to defend the homeland if they tried as they are spread like too little glue over too much plywood. The past 2 administrations have left us as weak as Paris Hilton, the economy proves it, our losing in Afganistan and Iraq proves it, we simply cannot get anything done. The USA is beat and the world knows it. Europe is laughing at the penal colonies that tried to set up a nation. I am embarrassed to be an American, and there is noone stepping up to lead us to glory. MAy whatever god you choose to believe in have mercy on us all.

      • Posted By: bluetulip28 @ 08/12/2008 11:57:20 AM

Well said. America is a joke. It will only get worse and I will be investing in passports for my family and leaving this country if things get any more difficult. I know my lineage and where my ancestors came from and I would gladly "go home" and say to heck with the American Dream they believed in, because it's gone, it's dust, there is no more Dream. We are in the middle of a sick joke with a bad punchline coming.

Hey... I think this is really cool and someday should become a reality. Just think what she as the President of the United States would probably be able to achieve.
    1) Melt the hearts of the so called freedom fighters in Iraq as well as Afghanistan by getting them to shed their weapons as well as their pa..... and subduing them into submission without shedding a single drop of American blood.
    2) Regular diplomatic visits to countries aiding and abetting terrorism and countries that are considered a threat to the USA would soon become major partying centers leaving the radicals no time to even think of acts of terrorism. A think this will also open up a big business opportunity for the liquor industry where everybody gets drunk and stays drunk.
    3) People like the sandib912 or guys from his camp would leave this planet for another. This in turn would reduce the over all population of the world arresting the gobal warming that everybody is so concerned about.
    4) America would soon become the worlds biggest partying center with visitors all wanting to get a piece of Paris.
    5) Downside !!!! Just one @@@@ There would be a major revolt from the Clothing/Garment Industry... Demand would crash with people wearing nothing or clothing getting more skimpier. But what the hell...Beauty is to be admired and so lets all admire it.

So come on guys lets see if we can get her name proposed as the next President!!!! By the way are we a little late in the day for this years Presidential Elections???? Believe me "NO FALSE PROMISES ABOUT TROOP WITHDRAWAL OR LOWER GAS PRICES" Everything will automatically fall in place once the parties start and liquor begins to flow.... CHEERS.
