Perhaps this equipment deters "actual terrorists" from attempting to pass through the border. Officers conducting secondary inspections are well prepared for the medical reasons of an alert, and in most cases, demonstrate the appripriate sensitivity. Is it better to have no sensors at all? If CBP did not have this equipment, yet knew it existed, would you not be writing this article in criticism of their inability to prevent terrorists from bringing nuclear or radiological material into the country?
