McCain could not get campaign finance reform until.... until Obama joined the Senate. That's right they had to get together on it. For a decade McCain could not get it done without Obama.

And McCain can not get Congress on his side on any idea, not even his own party.

Drew Litton is turning 25 years of Amish newspaper cartooning into actual moving pictures. This new kind of entertainment is called, "ani... ma .. tion." Drew has put together 5 daily cartoons (or "ani-ma-tion") for the Democratic National Convention lampooning both candidates in a Jib Jab-ish fashion.

Oh yeah you old crusty right wing conservatives are just the life of the party, a laugh a minute. This is a nice attempt to try and overcome the boring same old crusty right wing conservative image. If you weren't all closet homosexuals and having gay bathroom sex, your lives would probably be so boring.

We have bred a Nation of undisciplined, whining, "gimme brats" whose capabilities consists of joy sticks and texting instead of innovation...they hate wisdom and knowledge because they are not a part of it...TOO LAZY TO PICK UP A DECENT BOOK, READ IT AND LEARN. They are clearly uneducated as to what is happening in this Nation, add to the dilemma with fads and trends instead of offering sensible solutions. ASK THE ONE AND ONLY LIVING GOD WHAT HE WANTS DONE, HE HAS A BOOK FULL OF IT FOR YOU!!!

How do you deal with an election where everyone thats electable is an idiot? has millions....and really does NOT represent true AMERICA..this is getting simply stupid

  • Posted By: todd.moore @ 08/19/2008 3:55:03 AM

I am not sorry for making typos because I am an intelligent man capable of making an intelligent decision. My decision is that both Candidates are simply pandering for votes OR making flowery statements that really dont men skittles....WAKE UP america ..I say.......get a grip..and take your country back

    • Posted By: cferns1530 @ 08/19/2008 1:36:55 PM

take your country back? america has been bought by the investments of people, some of whom dont even live in america. consumerism prevails and bullshit walks.

just like george carlin said, "this is a big club and you aint in it"

you are talking about these 2 candidates like youve just realised that political candidates pander for votes. remember its always the one who panders least who gets the votes.

what exactly are you getting at?

  • Posted By: chevypanel46 @ 08/19/2008 3:28:14 AM

Now here's something that's NOT funny: "When McCain's day-to-day campaign manager Steve Schmidt recently brought on several former White House staffers to help run the show...". He's talking about BUSH's campaign manager and BUSH's White House staffers here.

Funny? Hell, that's just plain scary. Yep, you got Dubya's staffers running McCain's show. Let's hear some of our conservative brethren expound on how wonderfully cool THAT is. It's time you guys stood up and OWNED your president, yep, the one YOU managed to get elected. Stop playing the role of the dead beat father here and acknowledge the (hmmm, what's a word for illegitimate child?) one YOU put in office. Then you can go on to acknowledge that McCain has surrounded himself with W's people and policies and is offering us four more years of the same.

That's about as funny as a few thousand more young Americans coming home in body bags.

  • Posted By: McCain in '08 @ 08/18/2008 11:45:36 PM

Hey, so John McCain has a sense of humor and isn't afraid to laugh right out loud. Sometimes it's known as a coping device, and if you were under the same pressure as he is, you'd be looking for something equally effective.

  • Posted By: breakoutofthebox @ 08/18/2008 8:06:42 PM

so. Let's see, One of McCain's worries is the women's vote. Let's whisper about Viagra being covered when the pill isn't (he didn't have his facts right, but the thought of it was funny to him.) Let's seel your wife out to a bunch of bikers (maybe she didn't do the nudey contest, but mentally she did in the minds of 50,000 bikers) AND call her a buffalo chip (or in other words a piece of crap.) Then we'll find it HILAROUS that a guy walks down the aisle of the plane with a shirt of a big-busted woman who is thong-reared, and laugh out loud while that hits the newstands. Yep, the women of this country will ALL fall in line. Let's see, he's straight out of the 1940's menatlly, so hey ladies, get ready for a president (much like Bush Jr. here) who's willing to set women's rights back a half century or more. YAY! I'm June Cleaver.

I don't care who makes McCain laugh, I'm interested in what makes McCain think jokes about killing innocent people and rape are funny enough to tell in public. The guy has a real sick sense of humor, not one that bodes well for a job that requires a level or seriousness and sensibility to people, issues and the cultural norms and expectations of other countries.

Any number of stories I've read describe in detail how cursory McCain's economic/energy policy is and that McCain will lie right to your face with no fear of retribution from the media.

    The Financial Times
    Obama holds bipartisan economy talks:
"Mr McCain???s tax and spending proposals would add an estimated $3,400bn to the US deficit over the next decade compared with an estimated $700bn deficit reduction from Mr Obama???s plans, according to the Tax Policy Center, an independent think-tank. "

Will the Real Tax-and-Spender Please ???Fess Up?
???McCain is picking the areas where rates go up and ignoring the areas where Obama is trying to rebalance the tax code so that taxpayers would save,??? said John Irons, research and policy director at the Economic Policy Institute, which is generally viewed as sympathetic to working families. Mr. Irons said that ???the important thing is to look at overall impact on people??? and that on this score, ???the vast majority of the population, almost the entirety of the middle class, would see more from Obama than McCain.???
Economists have also criticized the methodology behind Mr. McCain???s assertion that Americans from all kinds of backgrounds could end up paying thousands of dollars more in taxes if Mr. Obama got his way. Several criticized him as apparently basing his claim on an average figure in which, as Mr. Irons said, ???Bill Gates is mixed with you and me, and everything gets skewed.???

    McCain's Power Outage
Contradictions and misstatements short-circuit McCain's energy policy pronouncements.
    http://www.newsweek.com/id/142500

John McCain claimed that he is determined to ensure "equal pay for equal work." But women's groups were quick to point out that the presumptive Republican nominee has announced his opposition to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which seeks to do exactly that.

Just another thought: Personal heroism is something you choose for yourself and YOUR body pays the price. A national leader can't afford to apply these personal rules to the conduct of a nation of 300 million people on the assumption they are all of one mind and willing to forefit their lives for some point of pride. Careful thought and a reality based analysis beyond some idiological, trigger happy, knee jerk reaction is required to lead a great nation to its place in a better world.

In any case the guys behind the Mc Cain/Bush world view are to a man, pasty faced creeps in the Paul Wolfawitz tradition or cynical fat assed, draft dodging profiteers like Dick Cheney. They are what we veterans call chicken hawks. Not one of them has ever put their bodies in harms way.

    • Posted By: observer101 @ 08/18/2008 1:16:19 PM

Awww. Poor you...Maybe you should have defected in Vietnam and started fighting the EVIL Americans...Then you can brag that WE Americans killed your fellow Communists and have a real platform for you Anti-Americanism..Draft Dodging?...Where was your buddy Clinton during the haydays of the Vietnam war?...Oh thats right he was NOT inhaling at parties in other countries while his fellow Americans were getting killed...McCain getting shot down 3 times indicates he was in some pretty bad situations....Not including the carrier incident while he was on deck. You were probably a pilot that was flying in no fly zones, hence the reason you are fine...

      • Posted By: freecitizen @ 08/18/2008 9:59:27 PM

You don't have to be a communist to recognize that Vietnam was an unnecssary mistake that cost million of lives, you just have to read a little history. You don't have to be a communist to recognize that the real lesson of Vietnam was that resorting to military force doesn't always get you where you want to go, especially if your motives were built on idiological fantasies and unfound fears of threats that don't exist anywhere but in your own terrorfied fevered mind.

Never voted for Bill Clinton, or Al Gore myself, and I never saw Dick Cheney, George Bush, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfawitz, or any of the other creeps who started Bush's Vietnam II the sequel, anywhere near the original production. It was glorious effort of course, just ask the 30 guys in my unit who didn't come home.

        • Posted By: Galasso @ 08/19/2008 12:12:06 PM

Question: If you feel this strongly about the military deployments since and including Vietnam, why did you even go in the military. Having spent several years in the military myself, I can honestly say that your opinion is an anomaly within the ranks of the combat arms.

Absolutely correct MartinCarmel, it IS entirely possible that the American people will be frightened and stampeeded AGAIN into voting agains't their own best interests. I watched the bifricated interview by the that envangelist on on TV last night and I saw one thoughtful candidate and one despensor of pandering platitudes. Stupid knee jerk answers are always easier to understand when you have limited information, limited interest and limited time to dedicate to your civic responsibilities in controlling the colosal killing machine we have let loose upon the rest of the world.

As for heroic, Mc Cain was a Vietnam era naval aviator just like me. he got shot down, I didn't. The greater picture however includes the fact that we both had a hand in killing by some estimates 3 million Vietnamese based on a faked Tonkin Gulf "Incident" and the big lie that the Vitenamese wanted something more than uniting their own country free of foreign rule.

Heroism in the blind unquestioning service of evil is something less than honorable. Further puffed up, prideful, trigger happy, heroism is exactly NOT what we need in the face of the issues facing us today. I can't garantee what Obama will do in every given circumstance, but I DO KNOW from recent experience, that the people Mc Cain has chosen to surround himself with, WILL do EXACTLY the wrong things based on a world view that has no basis in reality. Can we really allow these perpetual screw ups to have at us for four more years?

    It gets worse:

Randall Scheunemann Chief Foreign Affairs advisor to John Mc Cain AND recently exposed registered foreign agent under the employ of the government of Georgia is also the President of the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, which was created by the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), of which he is a board member. He is also closely associated with the entirely discredited Iraqi exile Ahmad Chalabi and the notorious curveball "intellegence source" used to justify the Iraq war. He was also an advisor to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Iraq.

To be charitable, these ARE the very guys who got it ALL wrong in Iraq, Afgahnistan, Paskistan AND Lebanon. That is to say, that IF you were to give them the benefit of the doubt, they were just plain stupid and ignorant. The overwhelming evidence is however, that they intentionally fabricated intellegence to sell a phony war that has costs us $12 billion a month, thousands of Amercan lives, not to mention by some estimates, nearly a million innocent casualties in Iraq.
These guys have proven to be a disaster of the first magnitude that cost us our standing as a leader in the free world. It's hard to believe but they do still have nerve, for they are still working on the final leg of their plan specified in their plan for world conquest known as PNAC and "Securing the Realm" a white paper these guys produced for Bebe Netanyahu back in the 1990s on how to manipulate America into taking down the governments of Syria, Iraq and Iran.

    Who are they?

Generally they can be characterized as an axis of evil between extreme, right wing elements of the Israel's body politique, big oil and Cheney's cynical band of thieves and war profiteers, whose interests have converged to take action as soon as they got what they were all praying for: the "Pearl Harbor like event" PNAC claimed back in the 1990s was all they needed to put their plan for world domination into action.

Meanwhile Osama Ben Loden, the man who served up what thy had been waiting for, is STILL running free 7 years later. Why? Because the boys now running the Bush/ Mc Cain show need him out there in the ether to mobilize the fear of the American people. Had we caught him in the mountains of Afgahnistan the Amercan people would have considered that justice had been done and seen no need to go on killing and killing on such a profitable scale.

Longevity and experience are only of benefit if there is some indication you have learned from your mistakes. From what I can see Mc Cain, who I have admired and supported in the past, is now beyond the age of reason and careful analysis. The manipulators have proven that all they need is a mildly retarded, historically ignorant president to dismantle our constituion and loot the treasury and the wealth of future generations, so here we are having to choose between sinility and niavity... pick your poison.

Must be able to hold his nose and look the other way while the existing corporate power structure continues to loot the treasury and plunder the world's resources for private gain. Great working hours, must be affable and willing to pander but no real talent or intelligence required, in fact curious, analitical minds need not apply. Graduating at or near the bottom of your class at a military academy and the ability to recite platitudes and crummy sexist jokes especially helpful. No need to make sense as our dimm witted electorate is especially easy to manipulate with equal parts fear, religious superstituion and subliminal racism. In any case, don't worry about actually winning the vote, through the above mentioned devices, we can always make it close enough to steal

Despite His Claim that He Fought to Expose Abramoff, McCain Relies on Abramoff-Linked Advisors and Fundraisers

WASHINGTON, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This week John McCain has stayed busy trying to escape his ties to criminal lobbyist Jack Abramoff and his shady lobbyist colleagues, including Randy Scheunemann and Ralph Reed. The McCain campaign has been trying to gloss over the details of Scheunemann's swings between lobbying and advising McCain, often on issues of interest to recent clients, and attempting to excuse McCain's enlistment of Abramoff crony Reed to raise money. But the McCain campaign can't spin away Scheunemann's shady ties, or his influence on McCain, and they're not having any more success trying to escape the fallout over McCain's refusal to cancel his Monday fundraiser with Reed.

    (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080519/DNCLOGO )

Scheunemann served as McCain's campaign foreign policy advisor in 2000 and is back in 2008, despite lobbying in the interim. Until May, Scheunemann was lobbying for Georgia - earning more than $800,000 in the process - yet now in August, he's advising McCain on the conflict between Georgia and Russia. Scheunemann's other notable lobbying stints include putting his McCain ties to use in 2006 advising Greenberg Traurig, Jack Abramoff's former firm, as McCain served as chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, charged with investigating Abramoff.

McCain has also enlisted Abramoff crony Ralph Reed to raise money for his campaign. Abramoff directed at least $4.2 million to Reed as he defrauded his clients, yet as chair, McCain never called Reed to testify before the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs during the Abramoff investigation. Now Reed's helping McCain fundraise, sending emails with the subject line "special invitation from Ralph Reed" to recruit donors to join him at McCain's Monday fundraiser in Atlanta - and McCain is ignoring calls from nonpartisan watchdog groups to cancel the fundraiser.

Scheunemann and Reed are only two of the cast of McCain advisors and fundraisers who prove how deeply McCain embedded McCain is in the Republican culture of corruption - and just how clear it is that McCain means more of the same old politics.

On another subject, is it possible that all of the posts telling one lie after the other about Obama are coming from some of the superdelegates who are desperately trying to keep their cushy arrangements with the many lobbyists and special interest groups. They are making fortunes, why would they want to give that up??? Truth --not a single one of them. It figures, Edwards is just like all politicians. All of them have secrets. I just saw that McCain possibley might have a old DUI You can see Video at http://www.mccanes.com? Wonder what skeletons Obama has? If Obama picks boone Pickens as his running Mate. I might Just Vote for him. I read Obama was going to adopt some of the Pickens Wind Plan. You can read it at http://www.boonepicken.com I still dont know who I will vote for, I probably would of voted for either Huckabee or Hillary. It would be nice if the GOP would nominate a different candidate. Ive voted Republican my whole life. But probably not this time. Alot of republicans are very unhappy about McCain being the Nominee http://www.hotpres.com
