It is amazing that i have not seen any posts discussing that not only did he have the affair( and probably father the child) but even after this drag his wifes cancer out on display for political reasons. At what point does he get to have the affair, betray his wife, and father a child, all the while denying all responsibility for all actions and lying about the 200,000 homeless vets(which later turned out to be only about 10,00 nationwide and most of them drug or alcohol dependant) then try to make people feel sorry for him that the press was following him to hotels at night and trying to sbneak out so no one would know.

Interesting, Platapus, but I just heard almost the same words out of the Republican's mouth. In fact, instead of 10,000 homeless vets, there are 208,000. Also, what makes you say that he "probably father[ed] the child." Do you not realize that human gestational period is9 months, not 2 years? All indications are that this ended in 2006. I am not defending John Edwards. What he did is despicable, but if his wife choses to forgive him, why don't the rest of us get out of their business? His political career is probably over, so leave him alone.

Enter Your CommentSo if it ended 2 years ago why is he still sneaking around to see her in the middle of the night? It obviously is NOT over & the kicker is, no one in America will be at all surprised when that baby turns out to be HIS.

Again we get to see the "good ole boy" politics at work....is it coincidence that it's time for the VP selection and this "affair" is exposed to keep him out of the running or was it just a stroke of luck that it didn't come out before now, makes you think, huh. At some point we need to come out of the bedrooms of others and deal with the true issues of concern for the people. His infidelity involves his wife, his spiritual beliefs and him for that's who he pledged his vows to. Which is a greater evil----him cheating on his wife or a nation being cheated on with the current lies.

Hey Mars...I don't care who gets in there...it's always gonna be somethin'. They are ALL LIARS & CHEATS & FILTH! And,it is non-partisan to boot!

If John Edwards had been honest with the public and the media from the beginning when questioned about the affair with Ms. Hunter I believe the public and the media would have been more gracious and understanding that people make mistakes in their lives and are willing to learn from them and move on with their lives.

If John Edwards doesn't have the intelligence or judgement to see what this woman was up to and how completely flaky she is... no, he's not the person to be running the free world. So she's all for the "truth".. b.s. she wouldn't know "truth" if it bit her on the behind. The unmittagated gall she has to speak of Elizabeth Edwards the way she has after only meeting her once. Elizabeth's "fault" that she got fired? Give me a break! This chick never should have been hired to begin with!!! She's lucky she only got fired... Elizabeth should have someone kick her a!!!

Wow you people must not live in a glass house - people make mistakes - the worst part was lying about it. People have affairs in times of duress. That is, unfortunately, normal.
At least he wasn't a hypocrite like the DOZENS of Republicans who actively fight against gay rights but then are found to have a romantic relationship with boys or men.

I think you have confused some things here...the politicians CONSTITUENTS is why he is there. Politicians are REPRESENTING us. This means we send them to Washington because we believe this person will vote according to what the majority of constituents think/believe...not their own personal agenda. I know this sounds rather ideal but that is the general idea behind the plan. Too bad it rarely happens this way.

    Who cares
These people have problems ( they need reform and therapy).
I do not think that this is a good example for any one to follow and the media frenzy over it is not helping anyone.Give it a break and et them find their way.

A great lady who wasn't appreciated by the candidate who experienced a downfall..He went for the flesh instead of the spirituality..Edwards wasnt definitely ready and he paid for it. Riele tried but the disciple was too much on the third plane and he apparently failed..who knows what king of changes if experienced in his conciousness..time will tell.

What's with all the candidates (and their wives) seeking astrological advice? I've even heard John McCain believes his green sweater may influence the outcome of the election. And of course Nancy Reagan was on another planet altogether in this regard. From a political standpoint, or a "trying to appear like Ghandhi" standpoint, Edwards might have been wise to ignore Rielle's advice to follow his "heart" (or whatever organ was doing the talking). Still, he seems like an o.k. guy to me-- he's certainlly done more to call attention to the plight of the poor than most of the other candidates. And though this story is certainly qualifies as "newsworthy," it seems Darman's reporting tactics are as open to question as the motives of the other characters in the story...

I don't care about the affair. I care about the lying and the apparent corruption surrounding this affair which makes Edwards not fit for the high position he was seeking. Now I want my money back!

Despite new formulatic solutions, good old simple math reveals the same old truth time and time again:
One lonely and desperate person + One lonely and desperate person = Two people who look and act kind of desperate and selfish.

This woman has proven what she is... She is nothing. IF she want to accomplish something with her (up to now worthless life) perhaps vowing to raise this child properly and becoming a worthy mother, might redeem her in the eyes of the world. It's a shame that Elizabeth Edwards and this also innocent child have been /will be made to suffer for what it appears this woman set out to do from the start.

Some one posted " John Edwards is a good politician". He was running to be President.! He put in jeopardy, his party, his supporters, and most importantly his wifes health. He shamed his family. Children carry the shame of their parents, like it or not.

I, like undoubtedly many other donators to the democrats campaign, would like to know the source of the $100,000 payment and the $3 million home.

I am sick and tired of the media propaganda in this country the media has lost sight of what is really important in the interest of selling"news". The media is populated by a bunch of idiots!!!!! How about discussing the imporant issues. What is the change "Obama" keeps talking about. How about something we can relate to. Who is John McCain and what does he stand for?

  • Posted By: Stormport @ 08/12/2008 7:59:50 PM

He wants you to call him, Rielle. He's practically come out and said it. He's ready. He doesn't seem a bad sort even if he is a reporter. Raise his awareness, it's already at half mast.
