So the theory is because everyone has had affairs, is having an affair, and will continue to have affairs, it is acceptable? It is not acceptable behaviour for a man aspiring to uphold the constitution, command the military and a leader who will have to negotiate with other world leaders. I will not believe another word Edwards says, nor do I believe McCain. To paraphrase John Lennon - I beleive in me.

I would like to ask him "Was the lay worth it?" I do not believe this was the first person he cheated with but the first one where he got caught. If men could only see how weak they are to be so easily manipulated by women.

Smart, clean, concise article inviting us into a small space in the life of a complicated and obviously emotionally inept young woman. There are many out there, and many more politicians suffering from egostentric middle age fears who will find these girls and use them without a second thought. Sorry to Mrs. Edwards...no matter what, no one deserves the pain of unwarranted humiliation due to others self centered interests.

What a sad, sad story. I really don't feel sorry for Rielle though, she thought because of all her "New Age" beliefs that she didn't have to have the common morals of us mere humans. I sure Elizabeth Edwards saw her as what she really is: a opportuntist who need to ride someone else's coatails to fame and fortune and anyone in Rielle'a way has "bad energy". I think I could deal with John Edwards as a man who made a trememous mistake and is willing to step out into the brightest light and let anyone and everyone beat him up about it. I hope Elizabeth can deal with this pain, I know it's worse than the cancer. God bless

I did not read this article because .....who gives a ***!!

Underneath John Edwards polish, is a low class , dirty little man. He obviously feels more comfortable at the bottom of the barrel. The lying pig should have given some consideration to his sick wife, whose immune system is compromised, and used a concom. The sexually transmitted diseases he could have exposed her to, it's appalling!

There should be a sisterhood among women, and women should say NO when another woman's husband asks her out. There would be no Adulterous Husbands if women just said NO when the husband made advances. But most women dont care about other women and believe married men are Fair Game. Rielle Hunter (real name Lisa) deserves the same pain and shame she put upon the cancer stricken Elizabeth Edwards.

What's her astrological sign? To me she pushed the button. He could have stepped back but no one on this earth is perfect especially when it comes to mistakes with sex . Lets look at the positive as well as the negative . I see him as a good Politician .Public forgiveness came with Clinton.

  • Posted By: hamster62482 @ 08/12/2008 7:51:41 PM

wow! Talking about the "bad energy' that the wife of a man she screwed gives off seems so low class. You had an affair with a married man, now you are going to talk crap on his wife? You just made her life a little bid worse, cant you at least leave it at that?

  • Posted By: ophelia @ 08/12/2008 7:51:37 PM

I would like to ask him "was the lay worth it?" I think he has done this before but never got caught. If men could only see how weak they are and how easy it is for a woman to manipulate them.

  • Posted By: disgusted45 @ 08/12/2008 7:49:24 PM

Naturally, people discussing Edwards bring up Clinton. Why don't you bring up John McCain? He admits in his book, that he had several affairs while his first wife was sufferiing and undergoing surgeries because of an automobile accident. He "dated" Cindy while still living with his wife for 9 months.

jstone328, obviously your knowledge of words is very limited. Go look up the meaning of LAIR in the English Oxford dictionary, the number one dictionary in the world, you dumb-dumb.

Gads! Politicians and those who are merely filming them are obviously too full of themselves to even care about the core of life.
Some people make way too much money to know that a respectable life does have its rules.
Can't we all say at the same time, "Do the right thing", then actually *live* just that?

  • Posted By: eluzadre @ 08/12/2008 7:28:07 PM

I'm so sick of this. No politician, nor most average Americans, are honest. Most do not stay true to their vows, promises, or word. I don't care who someone is sleeping with. Can he/she run the country? Is he/she able to help us find jobs, reduce living expenses, get us off our oil dependency without killing the environment, or bring happiness back to the country? This affair is no one's business but his family's. When there are so many other important things going on in the world, "news" like this is a waste of time. This article is tabloid coverage, not news coverage.

Where is your faith in humanity...................

      • Posted By: eluzadre @ 08/12/2008 7:47:54 PM

You say that all women are glory seekers and then ask me where is my faith in humanity? Where is your faith?

Whether McCain left his ???crippled??? wife for a young, rich woman, Cindy, that was prior to him running for president does not matter because McCain IS STILL an adulterer.

For those of you that call your self a Christian which obviously is not the Republican Party, in GOD???S eyes, McCain is an adulterer because is with his adulteress. In order for McCain to be forgiven in GOD???S eyes which should be also in ALL Christian eyes, McCain MUST divorce Cindy and either return to Carol, his first wife, or remain celibate! He has not done so, therefore John McCain IS an adulterer.

The Republicans claim that they care about this country but they would rather an adulterer represent this country to the world. What message is being sent? A message that this country???s leader represents sins and that Americans accepts sins by promoting it through the leader of the greatest free country in the world. What a sad testimony!

If John McCain does win the POTUS seat, then people hold on because if you think 9-11, Hurricane Katrina, the flooding across the U.S., the draught, the tornadoes and the fires etc is bad, then wait until God releases more of His wrath! America cannot claim to represent God and continue in its sin. If we represent God, then we had better start representing God and not try to promote sin!

    May God help us all!

Um.....hellooooooooo? Bill Clinton, John F. Kennedy?? Democratic presidents are notorious adulterers. McCain was a POW for almost 6 years and when he came home his wife had already been injured for 4 years. They parted amicably and divorced so not really sure where all of your adultery comments come in.

      • Posted By: jfmccann @ 08/11/2008 11:27:34 PM

I am a Republican and a Christian. So McCain committed adultry, does that make it ok for Edwards to do the same? If Obama wins, it will be God's way of punishing what was once a great country. Talk about wrath.

        • Posted By: dolly2000 @ 08/12/2008 7:46:28 PM

He was a singing POW, who's father was a general. Why do think the enemy knew so much about us. Because the McCain who was the POW told the enemy everything. duh.

      • Posted By: againstu @ 08/11/2008 5:19:49 PM

The facts are the following: McCain cheated on his first wife with Cindy. She agreed to a divorce because she did not want him to feel tied to her. He injuries were severe. He left her a tall think woman, he came back as a POW to a short, handicap older looking woman. He was in love with her looks. Not her soul. As she has stated, she was 40 and he wanted to be 25. McCain and Edwards are the same. Men that cheat. I never trusted Clinton or Kennedy. Any man that would dishonor his marriage will not think twice about being a dishonor to this country.

  • Posted By: pineygirl @ 08/12/2008 7:45:56 PM

If only there were a true sisterhood of women, every woman wanting the best for every other woman. Then they would not "date" their husbands. If all women said "No" to married men, there would be no adulterous husbands. Women dont feel the sisterhood they should to each other. And therefore any other woman's husband is Fair Game. Even a woman ill with cancer. Rielle Hunter deserves the same pain and shame she piled on Elizabeth Edwards.

  • Posted By: europeandoll @ 08/12/2008 7:45:48 PM

Obviously, Edwars wife was not ugly when they were getting married. This woman has a cancer, and different medication has side effect, as hair loss and weight gain. Rielle, by all means is nothing to brag about, don't you guys have 20/20 vision??? Isn't there enough single, succesful guys out there, that Rielle could try to catch??? Married guys are a very easy target!!!

What's with all the candidates (and their wives) seeking astrological advice? I've even heard John McCain believes his green sweater may influence the outcome of the election. And of course Nancy Reagan was on another planet altogether in this regard. From a political standpoint, or trying to appear like Ghandhi standpoint, Edwards might have been wise to ignore Rielle's advice to follow his "heart" (or whatever organ was doing the talking). Still, he seems like an o.k. guy to me-- he's certainlly done more to call attention to the plight of the poor than most of the other candidates. And though this story is certainly qualifies as "newsworthy," it seems Darman's reporting tactics are as open to question as the motives of the other characters in the story...

I took a legal ethics class for my paralegal degree and the words of my instructor come back to me when events like this happen. Ethical is ethical, a man/woman who is not ethical in his personal life, can not/will not be ethical in his/her professional career. It is a character defect that is not isolated - it is present in every phase of a person's life. Edwards is an example - a deception in his persoanl life caused him to lie in his professional career. It is sickening!!!

  • Posted By: J-cat @ 08/12/2008 7:43:23 PM

It was Edwards responsibility and obligation to be faithful to his wife...not the other woman's. He's a politician...the ultimate seducer. It's too bad that she had to fall in love with him before she realized that he didn't think with his "fullest potential like Ghandi" but rather his dick.
