It's unfortunate that we now know that John Edwards is a MAN...a HU MAN.....and that's OK...That does not take away from what he believes in for the Country. His position regarding health care and poverty is still true. This is a private matter between a married couple....His judgment regarding his marriage is poor???.I want to see how many men will cast the first stone at John Edwards???.We are such hypocrites???These days the media wants to inform us about everything going on in anyone's life....It has become sickening..It???s none of our business???JFK would have been thrown out of the White House with his brother if the media behaved as they do now???..I noticed from the news commentator's that if you want to say something positive about Edwards and his family they redirect the question toward "don't you feel betrayed".....OOOOK...it's disappointing but if Newt came back after giving his wife divorce papers in her hospital bed dying of cancer I'm sure we will get over Edward's affair AND I might add, an affair that Elizabeth Edwards was well aware.

Edwards spent his life scamming the legal system and taking down companies and product lines, putting hard working people out of jobs for his class action scams that built his mansion...while getting his clients next to nothing for damages that didnt really exist. Why he is nothing more than the moral equivilent of a......Liberal....the 33% that will vote for anyone that makes the Dems ticket.

John Edwards is an idiot and I have lost all respect for him. Rielle is one smart cookie...she gets paid off...live in a 3 million dollar home (for free) and got paid over $110K for some stupid web videos that any high school kid could make. Yeah right...the baby is not John Edwards's...who would beleive anything that guy has to say now. But Rielle now gets to live high on the hog for the next 18 years getting $$$ from someone for child support...she might be a fruitcake, but she is no dummy!

    • Posted By: dcruz01 @ 08/12/2008 5:46:02 PM

Exactly!!! Edwards fell for the bait.

  • Posted By: GETRDUN @ 08/12/2008 5:45:53 PM

Who really cares! John Edwards is not the first, and will not be the last politician to have an affair.

  • Posted By: dogon starman @ 08/12/2008 4:52:09 PM

Rielle is a stunning woman of new born beauty. She hasn't lived much too different from the rest of us. Another victim of the press. The press has too much power these days. Wow, maybe I need to have her look into my charts...she seems very knowing.

    • Posted By: Lovin' Colorado @ 08/12/2008 5:45:16 PM

I've always heard beauty is in the eye of the beholder...no disrespect for the blind, but are you blind? Maybe you should hook-up with angelicabliss....now that's a frightening thought. Enter Your Comment

Speak for yourself. I honor my commitment to my wife. Victim of the press? She sought the press out! Have you ever heard the term "the blind leading the blind"? If you are looking for help, please, go seek someone...anyone else!

What most disturbs me about the Edwards' affair was that this man asked America to trust his judgement in protecting our nation -- when he didn't have the personal strength to protect his own family. How could he not see this woman is obviously unstable (claiming spiritual enlightenment yet behaving so destructively opposite). Through her actions, she sabotaged the very man she proclaimed could be a "transformational leader" with the "power to change the world." -- how sad for John Edwards and his family.

  • Posted By: webfoot1962 @ 08/12/2008 5:44:34 PM

Give me a break! I am not a John Edwards fan and I do not approve of his affair. In fact, I find it horrendous however, does anyone remember that his wife is dying? What is the point of all this? What good does it do the American public to know of his affair? Other than how mean it is to publish this! Oh, I forgot... it's the publics right to know or is it? Isn't it really about selling stories? If we had known of Lincoln's history of depression, Roosevelt's polio and his affairs and JFK's relationship with the how many women? Would we have elected them? Probably not...so lets let it go and get on with what's really important. Like Iraq, health care and crime. Instead of the sordid details of the Edwards private life.

I don't care what party you belong or what office you hold it seems incredible that these folks feel they can slip under the radar . And it doesn't matter if it's an affair between a man or women or meeting "boys" in the restroom, it is a major attack of stupidity on their part!!! My question is, these people who make such lame choices in life are they really capable of making sound choices as far as our country. Get out of the public eye and stop making our political parties pay for your weakness! kperce

With the world on the brink of a war to destroy the planet, this is the best Newsweek could come up with?

I guess you people are too intoxicated on Obama's snake oil to see the harsh reality out there.

    • Posted By: Disgruntled @ 08/12/2008 5:43:25 PM

Belker - you read it though, didn't ya?!

Comment to Angelicabliss: You're the one that's not getting the pcture here. The crap about being a spiritualist, seeker and teacher is a perfect sham. What better way to get to a man in power than to build his ego so high he sees himself as some sort of God. What he didn't realize is she saw him as her meal ticket. She certainly knew exactly what her intent was, from the very beginning. I belive, if she truly intended to be honest, she would have listed "gold-digger" as top billing. Such a shame some men forget where there "thinking" brain is.

Hopefully he will have a wife and a girlfriend in prison!

    • Posted By: JMO197 @ 08/12/2008 5:39:06 PM

He's more likely to BE the girlfriend there. I do where the money trail ends. Whether the law can be shown to be broken or not we know he used the money the people who believed in him gave to him w/ such faith and devotion was spent on his mistress. That's a hard pill to swallow.

Everyone is so hung up with this Rielle and Edwards, the real victem is Elizabeth and the family. Can't we leave it alone.

  • Posted By: PDunn @ 08/12/2008 5:23:35 PM

I found this writter to be unprofesional ans rude, We would not have published this artical as it currenlty reads.. One example of his poor choice of wording would be the 2nd line. Stick to the facts, we have all seen pictures of her and no one cares if what color her roots are. Today that is actually considered an 'in' look

    • Posted By: Senator Snort @ 08/12/2008 5:37:27 PM

      PDunn:

Regarding "poor choice of wording," writer, unprofessional, and, article, and currently are mispelled and I won't even mention punctuation.

    • Posted By: obamawins @ 08/12/2008 5:30:15 PM

Whose "we?" You don't even edit your work.; "unprofesional." "ans." "artical." "currenlty," only two periods for a supposed ellipse., and a run on sentence. Who are you kidding. No one cares whether you would publish anything.

  • Posted By: Disgruntled @ 08/12/2008 5:37:05 PM

I'm tired of having my hopes dashed by egomaniacs and puppets. Edwards is the ego-maniac, Hilary was the puppet. I'm holding on to Obama as a person who won't get caught up in all this ridiculousness - so far, he has not let me down, but I'm afraid to be too optimistic. BTW - Mr. Edwards - you will now never be president or even vice-president, hope she was worth it.

    to JM0197
did it ever occur to you who was in power in the Congress when "clinton .....got us out of debt" and again who was in power when "bush ...got us in debt"......presidents don't govern in a vacuum and if a democrat controlled congress had been in power under Clinton-honey we would have been in some serious problems, as we are now financially thanks to the DEMOCRAT controlled Congress. But I digress.....John Edwards is beyond words. what can you say about a man who cheats on his sick wife, hauls around a woman (who apparently was an even bigger idiot than he was) and still thinks this little thing shouldn't affect his career as was obvious from Friday night't interview. Will we never have a decent, conservative person in politics?

    • Posted By: fredwms @ 08/12/2008 5:36:34 PM

Are you serious a decent, and conservative politian. That is unheard of in this country and any other country for that matter. These jokers are self serving money hungry horny clowns. Dispicable....

  • Posted By: ciaobaby @ 08/12/2008 5:35:55 PM

I have lost all respect for John Edwards. To think I was, seriously, considering voting for him! The man has absolutely zero integrity to treat his wife this way ... his wife who has been battling cancer and dealing with a multitude of emotions. How nice of him to add just one more thing for her to deal during what is already a difficult time for her and her family. Shame on you John Edwards! Your son would NOT have been proud of you, to be sure. As far as the "other woman" is concerned, she isn't worth the paper it takes to write a comment on about her.

  • Posted By: fairfield @ 08/12/2008 5:34:32 PM

Hopefully he will have a wife and a girlfriend when he gets to prison! Follow the money!

  • Posted By: bigboy8836 @ 08/12/2008 5:11:43 PM

Holy cow are you for real lady??!!! Most amazing person in the world??? That statement alone is what's wrong with this country.

    Posted By: angelicabliss @ 08/12/2008 5:06:03 PM
Comment: I think this sounds like one of the most amazing people on the planet. Maybe because I am so much like her, or maybe it is because it makes me think that there is hope for this planet afterall. Look at the larger picture here people, who really cares about the affair or the illegitamate child???? Maybe we could all learn a lesson on compassion and greater human understanding that she although potentially "misunderstood" obviously embodies. She knows what it is to be OPEN, HONEST, and COMPASSIONATE.

    • Posted By: obamawins @ 08/12/2008 5:33:19 PM

She isn't open, honest and compassionate. She's a space cadet. She makes Paris Hilton sound like a genius.

  • Posted By: fo-real @ 08/12/2008 4:41:59 PM

It's a shame that some men temporarily think with the wrong brain. Because if he was using the right one, he would have seen crazy coming from a mile away. Sounds like she had an agenda from the start.

    • Posted By: voter2008_ @ 08/12/2008 5:31:53 PM

The woman in an affair is always seen as the victimizer, the one with an agenda, the bimbo. The men just simply made a mistake. Interesting double standard, don't you think?

  • Posted By: fredwms @ 08/12/2008 5:29:29 PM

O.K.,was that the end of the story? This lady sounds like a basket case, she's all over the place one minute she's there and the next she's gone. Rielle got what she wanted and the baby is johns.
