It is obvious to me that Ms. Hunter is the source.

OK they are consenting adults. However, Ms. Hunter shows her immaturity by trashing talking Elizabeth Edwards in the media.

Ok they had an affair. However, Ms. Hunter shows her immaturity with trash talking Elizabeth Edwards in the media. I think that says it all.

LOL. Newsweek got scooped by the National Inquirer despite the fact that it had one of its reporters practically in Rielle Hunter's pants.

    That's hilarious.

??? Great article! I always admired John Edwards for his work in trying to solve the problems of proverty. Unfortunately, he didn't use good judgment in allowing this nutty woman to ingratiate herself into his campaign. I hope he and his family will recover from this. I also pray for the innocent baby that is tangled in this mess.???

Alright, I'm back, and I'm ready to kick some ass. I've looked over the comments through newsweek and found some of the most important subjects(at least discussed) and here's what I got.

Hillary voters( why should I vote for Obama?)
We'll. Hillary supporters, I've mentioned this before, and I'll mention this again. You voted for Hillary for a reason, to not have another Republican in office, to put a Clinton in office.(since the last Clinton in office did a good job) I know Obama isn't a Clinton, but as you heard in the primaries, Clinton and Obama share much to the same views and goals. If Obama's ever going to go to anyone for advice, it's going to be the Clintons. They've been through presidential elections before, they've won presidential elections before. The Clintons will be Obama's biggest friends and biggest allies in this race. Now, I'm not saying all Hillary voters "have" to vote for Obama. But any Hillary supporter who thinks Mccain is closer to a Clinton, to Hillary, than Obama is, is utterly insane.

Next we turn to experience. You say Obama is too inexperienced to be president yet Mccain is. (Yet the first point I want to point out, is neither candidate has experience being
president). George Bush also had "experience" before he came into office, yet he's run our country to ***. We had a surplus going into 2000, yet now, we are nearing a recession, millions of people are going bankrupt and losing their homes and businesses, over 4,000 soldiers have died in an unnecessary war( and unwinnable war), and so much more. Even the most "experienced" leader can run a country into the toilet. So clearly, experience doesn't define a good president. I mean, isn't it better to have an inexperienced president with the right idea, than an experienced president with the wrong idea.

Next we have the Reverand Wright issue. You say you're all scared of Obama because of his association with Reverand Wright. I have plenty of stupid friends who've I've been friends with for years and years, but it doesn't mean I share their ideas or opinions, or have become stupid or crazy by hanging out with them. I mean that's just stupid. I mean who hasn't had a stupid friend or one that was just a little off their rocker, I mean really.

Another top issue is flip-flopping. It's a term used on both sides. Many people on Newsweek say they're scared of Obama flip-flopping. Yet, if you paid any attention, You'd notice that Senator Mccain has made many flip-flops himself. I mean, he's gone from pro life, to pro choice, from against Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy, to for Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy, and many more.<http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/9111.html>. As for offshore drilling, Obama didn't flip-flop, he said he was open to the idea if it was part of a bigger energy plan. Is being open to an idea seriously that bad? But overall, when you really think about it, who's never changed their ideas, who can say they've never changed or reversed their ideas even once?

The next issue is National Security. You say you trust Senator Mccain to protect this country. Yet over the past couple days he's been slammed by Paris Hilton's mom, even Paris Hilton herself recently. If Mccain can't even protect himself from an old women, from Paris Hilton and her mother for Christ's sake, how can you expect him to protect the rest of the country.

Lastly, there is the issue of Iraq and Obama listening to the generals on the ground. You say you don't trust Obama because he won't listen to the generals and instead implement his 16 month timetable no matter what they say. Yet even senator Mccain, the person who
got the enemy factions confused, was corrected, than said the same mistake again, complemented Obama's 16 month timetable. I mean, we may not be on the same page here, but if even senator Mccain complements the timetable, than isn't that a good plan, isn't that a good timetable. I mean, that's what I believe anyway.

Well there you go, I hope you enjoy it, thanks for taking your time to read it.

Edwards is a pig.HES filthy rich and good looking all he had do do is have some class and wait for his wife to die or at least separate from her before diving in the Y.Pols are are just lawyer pigs and should be shot when they disgrace themselves this way after lying to public like they do.

Of course everyone is quick to lable the man as a "dog" leaving the offending woman blameless... so typical. the blame is 50/50 he may be the dog, but she without a doubt is the whore...twice! first for intruding on a marriage and second for being the attention whore she no doubt has become!
The way i see it, Edwards was stupid, but this new age nut was the serpent! she will be on talk shows in the months to follow and will end up very wealthy! .....

We can't blame Elizabeth for knowing in 2006. the only person who says she knew is that lying, scumbag, pig of a husband of hers. He was denying it to
everyone til it came out in the National Enquirer last week!! She probably didn't know til then either!

  • Posted By: FauxReal @ 08/10/2008 10:11:26 PM

Well after reading about that loony woman, we know which brain Edwards was using and it wasn't his head.

  • Posted By: jjanit @ 08/10/2008 10:10:26 PM

The only reason we "know" that Elizabeth knew in 2006 about this affair is because her slimey, lying, pig of a husband said so. I bet she didn't know til he had to tell her when they were going to publish it. remember, he was denying it up until this month!! don't blame poor Elizabeth!

  • Posted By: cathy brown @ 08/10/2008 7:47:13 PM

Helpful report for context. Of course John Edwards fathered the child. And of course Elizabeth smelled a rat and didn't make eye contact.
It's all sort of sad and way too predictable.

McCain wasn't running for president when he had his affair. If he was, you can bet he would have lied. Everyone that has an affair lies...that is the nature of an affair.

There is enough soap in this article to wash 48 elephants. If there ever was a walking talking trap for the unwary, this old gal wins the prize. I remember when the old world war two fighter planes had an insignia on the fuselage for each enemy plane that they had shot down. This old gal could probably wear out a room full of tattoo artists with the insignias of the husbands she shot down tattooed on her fuselage. One of 'em is an insignia representing a former vice presidential candidate. My condolences. She was just too much to resist.

Perhaps with her biological clock ticking, Rielle "stockpiled" some little Johnny-zoa for future use.

Edwards hanging the non-paternity on "timing" may hang him.

Too bad our society places such an overarching emphasis on being a goody-two-shoes in everything. It just makes us all the more hypocritical. So what if it's his child? It's sad and tragic, not a subject for us all to know about and comment upon. Tacky Americans. As usual... the Puritan in us gets the better of our judgment.

Satan is very good a bringing men down - using sex to kill marriages AND careers. Rielle Hunter is a fruitcake - and despicable. It was utterly selfish and self-serving to pursue a married man and entice him into an affair. And YES, John Edwards should have walked away and it is surely his fault as much as it is Rielle Hunter's. However, this woman is a blight on morality I am so saddened by this whole stinky thing!

On what grounds are people dismissing Miss Hunter as "nutty" and "crazy" and "cuckoo" and a "ditz"? It can only be on the basis of her New Age spiritual beliefs and experiences, such as reincarnation, astrology and personal energy; and ideals such as personal transformation transformation of consciousness and enlightenment, and living up to one's full potential. That can only be an egregious form of religious bigotry.

Because most of these ideas have long been widespread, and integral to various eastern and indigenous religions of the world. Even many people who don't happen to believe in astrology and reincarnation see our purpose here on earth as one of spiritual growth and transformation; it's hard to imagine how to really change the world unless the individuals in the world undergo some profound change.

But people who have never bothered to really look into these ideas and consider them with an open mind seem to feel justified in brushing them off as just so much "craziness." How easily they forget -- or never bother to learn -- that the vast majority of the world's religions have been pagan polytheistic religions, with many beliefs similar to the New Age.

Meanwhile, the majority of people in America still cling to Christianity, without really learning about any alternatives. They either believe in, or at least give lip service to, a book that is chock-full of strange ideas that seem absurd to outsiders; such as the idea that people were made from clay, a virgin was impregnated by a god in the shape of a dove, people are born sinful from birth no matter how innocent babies may seem, but some guy agreed to be tortured and killed for it in a ritual sacrifice a long time ago, so that makes the sin all better. Not only that, but Christian mythology was mostly borrowed and rearranged from earlier pagan religions, with their myths of dying savior gods and virgins impregnated by gods. Even Christmas and Easter were based almost entirely on ancient pagan holidays. (Google the website "The Pagan Origins of the Christ Myth" for example.) And Christians pray to the mythical dead guy on a stick, and believe that he hears them and guides them, and answers their prayers, etc.

Yet nobody is supposed to think all that is "crazy" or nutty or ditzy, and certainly is not supposed to say it. Oh, nooo. But MINORITY religions -- hell, yeah, go ahead and trash them all you like. No need to take their religious rights seriously. It's religious prejudice and religious bigotry, pure and simple.

When will people learn that religious tolerance means ALL religions? And religious diversity means: Many Gods. People who imagine that all religions are like monotheism, or who never bother to really learn about the 99% of the world's religions that are pagan and polytheistic, should not really keep voicing their ignorance and their ininformed prejudice in public. First, go learn something.

Sounds like she was kooky because she THREW herself at the first politician she'd ever met, and flirted and seduced him knowing he was married and trying to run for office - or had been a VP candidate.

There are all kinds of kooks out there. She should have been more circumstpect and not even bothered to chase him. Obviously, he's a good catch, though, and what American woman wouldn't want to try and get him away from his wife and family? I know there are a lot of nuts out there, and they are shameless, aggressive and pretty ambitious... typical American women. That's why I didn't vote for Hillary. I just cannot feel any true affinity with my own sex in this country. I prefered someone who grew up overseas and wasn't just exposed ONLY to this culture. It's a pretyy tacky one.

      • Posted By: Esencia08 @ 08/10/2008 6:18:59 PM

notroubleatall1963: Sounds like you have internalized negative stereotypes about American women. Women should be ambitious and apire to the highlest levels of politics. If you did not vote for Hillary Clinton based on your negative beliefs about women holding positions of power in society, then I feel very sorry for you, especially if you are a woman.

I don't know what the big deal is...find me a man of wealth and/or "fame" that has been faithful to his wife--he's the exception, not the rule...

John Edwards had an affair, got caught when she got pregnant and took the money of the "little people" that believed in him. Now he says he will take a paternity test but she sys NO . Looks to me she is waiting for Elizabeth to die so she can share a love bed. She'll wait a long time
