It is sad when a husband turns to another women at a time when his own wife is battling the cancer demon. I battled the cancer demon and my husband did not leave my side even when my head was in the toilet and I looked like an anorexic. Thank God for real love, not just fake love.

Comment: This just shows you the kind of person she is: she knew -- and apparently planned -- all of this. Talk about bad karma -- she is the bad karma. I am so sorry for John and Elizabeth in all of this, even though he should have known better than to fall for this phony woman. I agree with the person who asked why John McCain's dealings with his present wife (when he was still married to his first wife)weren't being investigated.

Enough already! John Edwards isn't the first or last man to fall for a piece of tail. At least he fell for a female and not a man, As most Republicans with wide stances seem to be doing. From the looks of the woman she doesn't seem to look all that bad. John's (no pun intended), wife is suffering from cancer. Every man needs some cooch when he can't get it at home. John was only being a real man.

Honestly, I do not see why this story or any story about politician extramatrial affairs are news worthy. Elizabeth and John's problems are the same was everyone else. Over half the married couples in America have had at least one affair. Most of you on here have had a affair. Yes, it is wrong. Yes, people you love get hurt.

However, please explain to me how this effected Edwards ability as a politician? Did it cause him to change his vote on major legislations? Was he being blackmailed for it? These are the questioned that need to be asked before publicing such trash.

Articles like this only convince me that the third estate no longer serves its purpose or the people. Gone are the days when reporters know what Stalin was doing in the Ukrian but didn't publish it so that a monster did not get headlines. Todays, 'reporters' serves only to make headlines, to try to win that next award, to mess up people lives and prevent really inspiring potential leaders from running for office. How many times have you meet someone so smart who should be in office? Only for them to tell you, they made mistakes in their past and have too much baggage. Great, I think to myself. I want a politician with baggage. I want a leader who falls down, dust themselves off and are still riding it til the wheels fall off.

Reporting about Edwards sexual affairs will not help Americans children increase their scores in the math and sciences. It will do nothing to stop this expanded prison country using Black and Latino labor like a new slave trade. It will not stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, etc.

It is ridicule that I know tell little children. If you want to be a politician in the future be careful now, don't cheat on that test, one day 20 years from now a reporter will found out you cheated on that 8th grade exam. Don't dump your Prom date, several years from know she will be on Newsweek telling the world how you scared her for life.

People get real and get a life. Let God be the judge.

Have you ever noticed, or is it just me, that all those that have the unbelievable affairs, with either men, or women...are men??? And John Edwards!! The squeaky clean father and husband is the most shocking of all. I guess no man is infallible. And no man can apparently honor their spouse, significant other or themself.

Why waste time on discussing these issues when McCain is blowing his horn again. For some reason and maybe it is because the Evangelist want to see the end of the world by putting in presidents that have an aggressive attitude and no diplomacy. We need John Edwards in the White House with Barak Obama. The future will be dim without him. Time for the news media to forgive and forget and encourage Obama to have him as his VP. John Edwards has role to play beyond anything the public and the pundits can understand. Too bad though that this woman and her friend could not keep quiet. I am sure that John Edwards kept quiet to protect his wife. Funny the masses aoorove of killing in Iraq and now it looks like McCain would like to get his teeth into Russia. THE MENTALITY OF THE NEWS MEDIA AND THE CRITIQUES IS UNBELIEVABLE. THEY ALL ACT LIKE JUDGE AND JURY. HATE TO TELL YOU THIS BUT WITHOUT EDWARDS THERE WILL BE A BIG PROBLEM. I GET THE IMPRESSION THAT THE EVANGELISTS, ,OR AT LEAST MANY OF THEM WANT A SELF FULFILLING PROPHECY OF END OF TIMES. THEY PUT GEORGE BUSH IN NOW MANY WANT MCCAIN IN. How callous can one woman get? She sleeps with another woman's husband then proceeds to remark about Elizabeth Edward's "negative energy". I would be giving off negative energy to you too because you are full fo it. If I thought I had John Edward's child I would get a blood test , it just makes sense. If anything this Rielle is full of it and since she is into this new age stuff she is probably going to experience so pretty bad results of Karma about now.

I do not understand why most people on this board seem to be putting most of the blame on Ms. Rielle. These were intelligent adults who decided to have an affair.

By the way Ms. Rielle is not the one who stood up before God, family and friends promising to Love and Honor Elizabeth Edwards, that was her husband! I do in no way condone affairs with Married people but let's not pretend that John Edwards is the poor weak man that just had absolutely no defense agains that evil woman with her wiley sexual ways. She did not put a gun to his head, He had many many chances to say no. While they were planning to meet, on the drive to meet her, before he got out of his car, before he entered her house or the hotel, before he unzipped his pants!

John Edwards knew that he was married and had a wife who was suffering from cancer, he knew that he had children. They both knew that he was wrong. By the way it is not as though "Elizabeth has any intention of leaving him. Political wives seldom leave so if she is ok with it then I am fine with it also.

This piece tries to "soften" the other woman. She is simply that- the other woman. She knew Edwards was married and she tramped along anyway. While Edwards is no saint, we must now move to other national matters and allow Edwards, his wife and family to handle this very private matter.

What is your thought on why Edwards would come out and admit to this publicly now? Would it be that Elizabeth is dying and she insisted he go to the truth? Did he actually tell her what was going on at some point long ago and she kept campaiging? Is he about to get caught at being her lover? Why bother to deal with the press at this point on this subject?
