Sad that in the 21st century something that affects so many is still so stigmatized. People need treatment and support.

Mental health problems among Asian-Americans are often stigmatized and untreated. But doctors are finding ways to help.

Gobbledegook, check that statement, "Get thee behind me,Satan" from the Bible in the book of Mark and you will find out what it really means.
Get thee behind me, Satan; meaning a leader looks for followers
Hopefully the minor success that Asian Americans have had in getting doctors to change from the forced drugging option will filter to the those doctors who believe forced drugging ..and general insensitivity.. are the best options. More doctors and lay people should become aware of the Buddhist view point on lack of mental health stemming from either taking on too much or too little responsibility... and subsquently using the brain either too much or too little; as well as a person going too far out of harmony with their vibrational aspect. It is not that one vibrational aspect is better than another, but that different people find harmony and contentment in differing endeavors. The west needs to move away from its over dependence on drugs...perhaps when the doctors move away from pushing drugs, the other type of drug pushers would also diminsh in numbers as well.
I'm disappointed that the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine was not represented in this article by a doctor of oriental medicine, acupuncturist, or other provider familiar with the practice. It is my understanding (admittedly limited) that in TCM, there is no separation or difference b/t physical and mental health. Perhaps some Asian patients assume both will be addressed by a western physician b/c they don't recognize a distinctions.
"In Seattle, "as many as half of Asian-Americans' visits to primary care physicians are due to conditions caused or exacerbated by mental or emotional problems," according to ACRS"
Wow, that's sad. I live in the area and I had no idea.
