You're playing all the wrong cards for the wrong reasons, friend. You call me dogmatic because I actually get my news from multiple sources? I would call it an informed opinion. A biased person is someone who sees the whole world in terms of "good guys" and "bad guys".

I think its pretty obvious that YOU are the zealot since you are not willing to critically analyze the role of your own country in the world. I do it because I CARE about what it means to be an American, and whether we are a force for good, or whether we are creating messes and the unnecessary loss of life. God forbid you ever have children, because a child born today begins life $40,000 in debt toward our present obligations and debt. Both our foreign and domestic policies are driving this country into the ground. Our banks are collapsing, we've got people losing their homes, gas is through the roof, food prices are up, the dollar is devalued, we've got 20 million illegal aliens running about, our people are fat and uneducated, Medicare is going away, we torture, we have secret prisons, and we can count our friends in the world on one hand because of the Iraq debacle. The only thing America has that it can be PROUD about presently is the fact we can bomb the hell out of some third world country, and then conscript all Americans to pay for its "reconstruction" for three generations. What we NEED to be doing is evaluating how the fact that we have 700 military bases in 100 different countries and we persistently MEDDLE in foreign affairs is actually translating in a BENEFIT for the American people. Unexamined flag wavers like yourself are what is wrong with this country. You believe what you were taught in grade school, that the USA is some kind of friggin GOD that can do no wrong, but I'm sorry my friend, its time to take a serious look at what we do, why we do it, and make some adjustments.

Name calling doesn't win an argument, but I'll be more than happy to go round and round with you on this one. I try to see the world for what it is, not in terms of what our politicians tell us. If Democracy was the best form of government in history, let us know when we get it. Last time I checked, the USA was a Constitutional Republic. If the people had any say, we probably wouldn't have torture, domestic spying, suspension of habeas corpus, secret prisons, or 20 million illegal aliens. But since we DO have those problems, we must either conclude A) the government doesn't represent us, or B) the People are morons ( which really doesn't make a strong case for letting them affect policy, eh? ) So which is it?

You must understand why we export Democracy. Its not for the benefit of the ruled ( thats the cover ) but its so pre-existing western corporations can enter in and gobble everything up. Democracy creates a weak state that is vulnerable to foreigners, especially those with cash. Don't get me wrong, Democracy is GREAT if you value freedom ( or anarchy ), but on a long enough time line it fails to represent the people. As in the case of the USA we cannot even get ourselves a southern border with Mexico.

Our policy of arming one side or another in dozens of armed conflicts around the globe, and meddling in general, predated Bush. Saddam Hussein, Bin Laden and jihaadism in general were monsters made by us. This time around, we armed the Georgians with our weapons, trained their troops, and bull****ted them into thinking we'd support them. They started shelling civilians in the morning hours when the Olympics opened, so truth in fact, we ENABLED this mess. The U.S. needs to re-evaluate its foreign policy of military interventionism and stop trying to engineer polical results in sovereign nations around the globe.

According to you, we might conclude the French were the villains in the Revolutionary War for assisting American colonists in an "illegal" revolt against their British rulers. The irony of course is that we support independence movements when it benefits us ( i.e. Kosovo ). I guess Freedom(TM) and self-rule is fine for you and me, but too good for the South Ossetians eh?
