Is Seeing Believing?

So many of our civil rights have been broken or construed, not just by our government but by those who post it! Our journalists and photojournalists have taken it upon themselves to play a game that has NO real winner! American citizens as a whole should begin to rethink their trust in the NEWS, mine is wearing thin, day after day the NEWS/MAGAZINES have tried to captivate our hearts and numb our minds to the real problems! They enhance, stretch the truth, cover up, and ultimately LIE to secure an extra bit of money for themselves and their ratings. The american people are SMART, we are educated enough to know right from wrong. This so called monster is more than likely nothing more than a prank, hosted by someone who is thriving for attention and in need of some extra income. So I say to you in the press - - - - - keep up the OUTRAGOUSNESS of your profession, but soon enough No one will read it watch it or listen when we can just zoom in via satelitte and watch for ourselves, your profession I fear is being erased.

Arg! Still the fuss over this thing? jp203 pretty much hit the mark, as this was already proven to be a decaying pit bull. It only looks so odd because of the angle at which the picture was taken at. Kinda funny how they withheld the other photos completely, which when seen show the features of the pit bull, as well as patches of hair and what not.

I think People are lot smarter the the media gives credit for ...c'mon people look at it! wake up you can see it's a fake. Media Only does whats going to be good for them to make a buck

Honestly, the "creature" looks lke it may just be a larger breed dog that was unfortunate and fell out of a boat and drowned. The decaying process would cause the hair to fall off, thus making it appear to be another creature.

Well, I am no expert in photography, nor scientific research. However, IF there were so many news media on the scene, would it not have to be a conspiracy for it to be a fake picture:? I understand yo cannot believe everything the news media puts out, but some things must be accepted if they are not detrimental to our safety. Now my first question would be, what is wrong with the Dr.s who evaluate bodies, historical creatures, etc. to take it in and examine it. If it is a coon or dog, or any other known animal, it should not be hard to discover with an examination of tissue etc. IF they can determine what (supposed,) prehistoric monsters are, after what they claim to be millions of years, why can't they simply find out about a creature who has not been dead over, say a month or so if that.?

It's not a turtle (wtf?), it's not a top-secret diseased mutant from a testing facility, it's not a rodent of any-sort, it's not a badger, it's not latex, and it's not flipping you off.

My inner zoologist died a little with this being such a "mystery". >.<

The real interesting "wtf_nature" going on here is how it decomposed, not its identity. Fish tend to start eating at the nose because it's the softest and most accessible area to get to. The front teeth fell out as is common with decay. When hides are soaked for a long time the hair begins to fall out, thus the "naked" appearance. The colors are from decay as well.

Some tips:
-When seeing heterodont dentition you can guess immediately it's a mammal (there are some exceptions in other animal taxa, but none that look like this).

-Sharp canines such as these indicate the animal is carnivorous or omnivorous. Rodents on the other hand have two large incisors and do not have the lower canines shown in the photos.

-So we have a small to medium-sized mammalian carnivore/omnivore that lives in the long island area. That takes it down to raccoon or dog. Winner is most likely, with that hair type and texture, and foot morphology? Raccoon.

I don't know what it is but we have very little knowledge of the ocean and the creatures living in it it may be some prehistoric creature. 10 years ago i fisherman found a fish in his nets that was support to be extincted for hundreds of years. we really only have knowledge of the creatures that we can swim to or creatures that come to the surface or close to shore. there is still thousands of miles of unexplored ocean i hope to be alive when they find Atlantis

That is most definitly NOT a turtle without a shell. Anyone who knows a thing about turtles or tortoises will tell you. A turtle without it's shell would be a bloody mess. A turtle does not have a separate body from it's shell. It's shell IS it's body. Silly Person.

Anyway, I have no explanation as to what this creature is, but, my mother used to have a summer house out in montauk, and when she was a little girl, she and her family saw a creature similar to this. Did they contact the media? No. They buried the poor thing.

Who knows, maybe it escaped from Plum Island? lol.

i think that the mainstream source of our media has totally lost respect of the intelligence of the average american. Its sad. I grew up loving to listen to Geraldo till he let us down with the vault fiasco. Get you ducks in a row theres just way to much competition for error at this point. Show up or Blow up!

That is a turtle without it's shell...a real undoctored photo.

I made a negative on photoshop, and the skull exactly matches a mouse skull (the body looks like a mutilated rabbit). Anyway, case closed.
