Looks a lot like a Bull Dog body to me. they have the short nose that would explain the head and the legs match up too. The rest is just water damage to the corpse. Best way, to get around the "photoshop" problem is to request more than two angles be taken for any image to submitted. It is much harder to produce 3 fake angles on a "created" creature than just one. I've always been suspect of "single" photographs. If its real, many are more likely than just one. People today with digital cameras over shot everything.

I was married to the Montauk Monster. But once I learned she was photoshopped, I was able to get an annulment.

      VALEDICTORIAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The Montauk monster is a dog. There was a recent boat fire and a dog was lost in the fire. The thin skin on the dog's snout apparently burned off and exposed the teeth and nasal cavity.

Do you people think a turtle can crawl out of its shell?!!! It's not a hermit crab. If a sea turtle came out of its shell, it would show exposed organs and bones.

SUPERFAIL!!! Be careful...doing that to yourself will make you go blind, too.

Look up "Capybara" and check out the front claws and the square snout.

it is call a pit bull dog!! partially decomposed! i wish not to see this silly article ever again. it is ashame that newsweek or msn would even bother to post such nonsense and furthermore the dog was probly abused or neglected.

It's a sloth. Clearly. It's a freakin sloth. Damn people.

Advice for jounralistst: Ask somebody who knows something about identifying animals (zoologists). I know a bunch of zoologists at a local science museum who constantly get pictures of "strange creatures" which they can identify as dead dogs which have been decaying, thus looking monsterous and weird and people who aren't experts in zoology (like me) don't recognize them because of that.

A science blogger (Google Tetrapod Zoology + montauk monster) identified it as a racoon which simply doesn't look like it because the flesh has been decaying for so long.

i thing its photoshoped because how come sicetestes never saw it and like EffYou it cannot have crwaled out and only other way is if it got hit extreamly hard or was under exteme pressues

  • Posted By: BeaversPwnAll @ 08/21/2008 5:40:24 PM

i think it was photoshoped because fisrt it would have had to be hit very hard to somehow get out of shell because all EffYou said cant get out and well scintestes never saw it like where did it go after they saw it???

  • Posted By: obvious_thinker @ 08/21/2008 5:34:28 PM

C'mon, people, lack of supplemental images and/or shoddy cell-phone video online proves its all a hoax. Seriously, its summer on Long Island & NO ONE else had a camera to take any additional pictures of it? Jay Leno goes out to do Jaywalking & half the passersby are filming him; but out of the whole crowd in front of a restaraunt no one else thinks to get their own personal photo?? You people are so stupid for even considering its real!

Yes, photographic forgery is also a lie. But I want to comment on the Beijing fireworks comments in the article. If this article is referring to the footstep fireworks then I think you are mistaken. I saw the opening ceremony of the Olympics and no one on NBC said that the fireworks were real or live. I had the impression that they were CG from the beginning because the announcer said something to the effect that "this is a visual..." something or other (wish I remembered the exact words). So I would blame articles like this one for helping blow the situation out of proportion.

was probably brought to the beach from northern GA by a recently discharged ex-cop. let us stop looking for the Easter bunny, tooth fary and Elvis.

  • Posted By: kimberly2day @ 08/21/2008 5:06:26 PM

are you sure it is a sloth?

  • Posted By: CrizzleSvizzle @ 08/21/2008 5:02:29 PM

It's sloth. It's clearly a sloth carcass. Damn people.

It is Big Foot's pet. Come on! The Lochness monster brought it to shore!

  • Posted By: Magnum99 @ 08/21/2008 5:05:22 PM

was probably found in northern GA and brought to the beach by an ex-cop. when will we wake up and deal with "real" issues instead of looking for the tooth fairy, Easter bunny and Elvis.
