I'm not sure how everyone else feels but personally I would rather have the person leading our Country have experience and understanding of the job and the Vice have minimum than the President have minimum and the Vice have it all. I voted for McCain/Palin for that very reason.

All the "Democrat" and "Republican" comments. You don't konw who to believe. They all promise the world, but can't deliver on what was promised. Here is an idea........Obama should be president and McCain should be his vice president, and then after two years, the two should trade places. Maybe it would stop all the partisan nonsense and start moving the country together - unified!

Nice idea bobp. Back when America was first an independent nation (from England), that is how elections were done. The person who won the election was President and the guy who came in #2 was the Vice President. I don't remember when it changed, but it did eliminate partisan issues because they were forced to work together for the benefit of the country, not themselves.

If any of you heard the way Cindy McCain acted on the phone this morning when the radio wanted to say hi and good luck to McCain, you would think twice about making her our nations' first lady. She was a real witch!

  • Posted By: time4achange2008missouri @ 11/04/2008 3:15:55 PM

Proud American 45 needs to go back to school and get some education. Too many misspelled words to understand what you are thinking in that closed mind of yours. IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE-SO WHAT THE RICH HAVE TO PAY MORE TAXES....I SICK OF THEM CRYING ABOUT HAVING TO PAY MORE...YOU HAVE MORE SO GIVE IT UP! WHAT ELSE HAS TO HAPPEN FOR FOLKS TO REALIZE THAT THE WAY THINGS ARE NOW NEED TO CHANGE?

McCain is on his plane practicing his concession speech. He wouldn't even speak on national radio this morning in his home state Arizona. The radio station had his and his wives' cell phone number and Mrs. McCain blew her stack over the airwaves - they attempted all morning to put McCain on to support his home state. And do you know who ended up calling in to go on the radio Obama. Graciously accepted the cold call from the radio station to say hi to the radio listeners. What a sad day when a presidential candidate can't even win over his home state where he served on senante for years. The pathetic truth is surfacing - Obama will be in office and our nation will be all the better for it.

I want everyone who thinks that trier taxes will go up and that Obama is a socialist and all the other mumbo-jumbo that you drunk the Palin-McCain kool-aid on, to find an Obama supporter and give them all of the taxes you save.

Get your excuses ready incase things get better, because I know you'll never be mature enough to admit you were wrong.

Before 9-11 there were almost 10,000 civilians killed by terrorists, since 9-11 there have been 0!!!!! Do we need someone in office who does not know a lick about conflict? Only 143 days in senate office. That is less than one school year for a preschooler, and they don't learn much the first year either.

Go McCain/Palin! Don't vote in a non Christ fearing muslim who will destroy our country and make us all a socialist nation!

  • Posted By: SusieQ123 @ 11/04/2008 3:13:19 PM

I honestly believe that McCain is the better choice for our nation. I don't believe in "spreading the wealth" as Obama preaches. I don't believe that raising taxes on anyone making more than $120K is the way to "reduce taxes for 95% of Americans". The plan tha Obama preached to the nation was to raise taxes on anyone making more than $250K, but that has changed in recent weeks to the $120K level. How many more of you want to pay more taxes to help those who refuse to help themselves? How many of you think that the government should buy you a house, give you free healthcare, a food and clothing allowance; and for what, to sit on you behind and do nothing??!! This is called socialism and is the best way for the government to control what you do and what you think. It teaches us that mediocrity is the way to go. Why should you succeed in business if you are going to be taxed to death? Just do the bare minimun, work at McDonald's and the government will take care of the rest.
Is Obama a bad man? NO, but his policies are not the right thing for the US.

Has everyone picked the local stereo shop to loot and the Asian market to burn down?

If you own a chicken farm or a watermelon patch, you do get extra tax breaks under Obamas tax plan. However You are automatiacally mandated to offer "buy 1 get 1 free" specials to anyone who pays with food stamps.

One major problem with the American people is that there is a mountain of information out there that can help them make heads or tails of all the misleading advertising on the TV but people are to busy, overwhelmed or lazy to find it for themselves. There is a very good book out there called "Unequal Democracy" by a prominent Princeton professor - L.M. Bartels. Bartels demonstrates that elected officials respond to the views of affluent constituents but ignore the views of poor people. He shows that Republican presidents in particular have consistently produced much less income growth for middle-class and working-poor families than for affluent families, greatly increasing inequality. He provides revealing case studies of key policy shifts contributing to inequality, including the massive Bush tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 and the erosion of the minimum wage. Finally, he challenges conventional explanations for why many voters seem to vote against their own economic interests, contending that working-class voters have not been lured into the Republican camp by "values issues" like abortion and gay marriage, as commonly believed, but that Republican presidents have been remarkably successful in timing income growth to cater to short-sighted voters.

The book states that over the last 60 years the Democratic tax & economic policies have produced a higher job-growth, higher income growth for the middle class and a higher growth in the GNP than the Republicans. The Republicans trickle down economics has not worked and has produced a much less job growth and only an income growth for the top 1% - middle class has lost during those periods of Republican rule. One issue with the trickle down economics is that we are giving tax breaks to the wealthly corporations so they can create jobs but we no longer have the Walt Disneys, Sam Waltons and Henry Fords running the companies - we now have people like Larry Mizel CEO of MDC Holdings (Richmond Homes) who in 2007 laid off 200 people but still requested that his bonus for the year be $10 mil instead of the $2 mil offered - the company lost over $600 mil that year. The top CEOs are greedy and don't care about the little people who work so hard for them - they just keep those tax breaks for themselves.

So I say we vote for the guy who wants to make sure that the middle & lower class Americans can provide a decent life for their children and families not someone who wants to continue to give the companies who are run by Kenneth Lay (Enron), Joe Nacchio (Qwest), Larry Mizel (MDC Holdings), Bernard Ebbers (World Com)and etc any more chances to make the rich richer and the middle class poorer.

The problem is that Democrats as a rule of thumb like to take from those that have worked hard, and followed to rules and give it to those that have decided to wait for the handout. I work for my income, I work for my education, and I through the sweat of my brow have the right to the pay that my wor brings me. I do not have to give to those that are in need. I choose too. If the Democrats would like to have the rich give to the poor, I would like to see them lead by example. As Joe Biden has said, "It's time to be patriotic". Show me how devoted you are and give 50% of your income to the poor. I know your income is more than th $250k, $200k, or the $150k income level that you define as the rich. Show me your devotion!!!!

All I can say...If McCain got elected to be our president...we're all going down to "HELL" just like the Bush Government has leading us to that "BIG HOLE".......in the past eight years......THINK ABOUT THIS..PEOPLE....

HAHA, yeah, Obama is going to burn the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment along with it. Thats ok, keep your guns safe bc its the only thing protecting your lack of intellect. Hey but I guess you can't be that dumb bc you must make over $250,000 a yr. and that's why youre afraid of higher taxes, right? But me? Im a working class guy who cares what the future looks like for my son, not how I want to screw it up now bc of my high ideals. I voted Obama bc I care about the future for this country. OBAMA 08

Why would anyone want to vote for someone who wants to raise taxes and then GIVE that money to people who do not want to work. Am I missing the point here? Americans are pround people and do not want hand outs, even if they come from are own people. If you how are voting for the Obama what or need handouts then go about it another way. We the people who work hard for our monry and don't think we should just "Give it away" are feed up with the socialist who think that your good fortune of hard work need to be spread around.
So if you are not a "Proud American" vote Obama.
    Proud American's vote "McCain/Palin"!

I understand what you are saying here in Southwest Virginia and our Neighboring state of West Virginia if Obama cuts coal production thousands of families will starve. All work in this area involves coal production, maybe Obama needs to do more research on the appalachian region and what feeds our families, and the last thing the proud people of this area want is another goverment handout, all we want is to keep our jobs.

    • Posted By: ObamaIsBest4US @ 11/04/2008 3:08:14 PM

Obama is investing in clean coal technology and other energy production. You will keep your jobs, and whomever scared you into thinking you would not should be ashamed of themselves.
