I am astonished at how easily duped the general public is by smooth talking, pandering politicians. The truth is our once great country is already in the process of being destroyed from within. The seemingly perfect Republic established by our forefathers is slowly being eroded into the very thing they sought to free themselves from. There is not a single politician today that has any business being in office and anyone with the true intelligence and brass to uphold the principles of our founding fathers has no chance whatsoever of achieving higher office. To all you Obama supporters out there, I hope you find some joy if he wins this election as it will be short lived once he actually takes office in January. How Did This Mess Happen? - Repeal of the Glass Steagall Act!
Prior to the stock market crash in 1929, both investment and commercial banks took on too much risk, with depositors??? money by using those funds for active speculation in the stock market. These banks became greedy, taking on huge risks in the hopes of even bigger rewards. Banking became sloppy and unsound loans were made. Congress deemed that these banks had been the culprit in the crash. In 1933, the Glass Steagall Act was passed to separate investment and commercial banking activities. Glass and Steagall were both Democrats.

Now moving to the 1990s - after many years of investment bank lobbying, Congress passed the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act in November of 1999 once again allowing the consolidation of commercial and investment banks into one entity.
Gramm Leach and Bliley are Republican.

All obama is going to do is hurt the economy, by taxing the people with more money, they are going to have to cut more jobs which does not help anything. Also he wants to tax the energy companies and eventually going to make them raise our bills by four. So if u have a 200 gas and electric bill youll be looking at 800. thats going to kill the economy. Yes, economy was good during clinton era, but with democratic control in congress thats not going to happen. we are going to go back to old CARTER ways, in that case, our country is in trouble if Obama gets elected

This comment is to Welborn. The economy is going to sh@t excuse my French and all you can think about is the Muslims and terrorists taking over. This is a classic example of ignorance brought out of bigotry. First and foremost Barack is not Muslim. There are several African-Americans who have Muslim sounding names who are not Muslim! I am one of them . My parents thought it was a cute name simple as that! Secondly how the heck is the military going to get stronger if the economy is horrible and there are no funds to put into it. What good will it do to say that the US has the best military but the people living within it are doing so bad because of the economy that crime within the US spikes and the conversion of the US dollar to other countries plummets even more than it already has during the Bush Admin. These are the things that are most important. If you could see past a "Muslim sounding" name and skin color of a different hue then maybe you too could see and understand that the state of the people within a country IS the most important factor. And that's why I voted for CHANGE.
