God help this country and the citizens. I am Rep. but voted Dem. but I really think we are to far gone for either man to bring us back. The only hope we have is if we try and work together for a better tomorrow instead of trying to pull apart from one another. We have got to be one of the greediest and most self centered countries there is. The man elected for President is only as good as the people who put him there.

God help this country which ever one wins. I am Rep. but voted Dem. We are to far gone for either man to bring us back in 4 or 8 years. The only hope we have is to pull together as a nation of one.

Look at the past 8 years and tell me about the intellect and Americanism of so called Republicans. How does our country look in the eyes and hearts of the rest of the world at this point in time? Why do so many of the rich and well off people in this country feel they have no obligation to the poor, needy, hungry, homeless, helpless and downtrodden "fellow" Americans in this country?

I have read hundreds of the comments posted on the internet and was amazed and disgusted at the number of those individuals who stated how hard they had worked and no one (refering to Obama's comments on taxation) was going to take thier money. A lot of the comments stated that everyone had the same rights and abilities to make fortunes but they were just too lazy and irresponsible. For the vast majority of my fellow Americans, I totally disagree with that perception. As for those who have been fortunate enough to accumulate $250,000 or more a year in wages or net profit, they have not done so because they have worked harder than the many thousands that have worked two, or more, jobs. Or, those who work long hours seven days a week just to make ends meet. Not all people have the same educational levels or learning abilities as those who are blessed with them. Not all people can continue thier education when thier children or families are destitute. Are these examples of the people you refer to as lazy and/or irresponsible?

If you are making over $250,000 a year, you are doing so, for the most part, totally due to luck. Many others get there from stepping on others, like rungs on thier ladders to so called success. Others achieve thier status by various illegal means. NO ONE IS BETTER OR HAS WORKED HARDER THAN THE MAJORITY OF THIER FELLOW AMERICANS!

How much wealth does any one person need to achieve the American dream? Ten million? Fifty million? A hundred million? A billion or more? When does the American dream become the American greed and selfishness?

If you acquired wealth through an inheritance, or you won the lottery, or you took over the business mommy or daddy left for you, you did not earn it.

Every American needs health care, equal educational opportunities, food, clothing and a roof over thier head.

My American dream includes every fellow American. Not just myself or a chosen few.

Most of the people I have to work with are Mexican immigrants who cook, clean, plant, garden etc... and do not get half of the money they should, they do not get a free handout. I also live in a place where most of the renters are Mexican because they have been loosing their houses due to the fact that they got high interest loans of $5000 a month. they go to sleep early and get up early. They hope to get visas someday so people do not mistreat them and treat them as slaves. They hope when they get visas they will feel as they have as much rights as others. Unfortunately, until Americans who have money and employ cheap workers "negreros" get penalized for employing undocumented people there is not going to be change.
Remember this is America and yes we have a lot of opinions; however those who never voice their opinion for whatever reason (lack of language, education, working 3 jobs not being able to seat at a computer etc.) are those people who generally do everything we do not do. Most of us or our ancestors have been there at some point; it just happens now Mexicans are the last mayority of immigrants who arrived last.
For those who still do not understand I challenge you to move, not because you want to, but because you have to ... arrive in a land where you don't speak the language, you do not understand most of the system and where you have to work to survive... It will be a hell of an experience. I did. :)

What's really sad is even the talk radio channels in Phoenix right now, which I believe is held nationally, is just ribbing McCain because he can't even win the support of his own state. And they are Republicans! The anchors are Republicans and just find it so pathetic that McCain can't even sustain his home state.

inkadinkadoo: I understand the poverty in Mexico and other countries, however, as my parents had to go through the proper proceeders when immigrating from Europe, so should EVERYONE that desires to live in our country. Believe me when I tell you, my parents were given NO handouts when they came here and were told they could go back to their homeland if they required any assistance such as FOOD when they had nothing. Please don't tell me how bad it is. Mexican people need to go through the proper channels and have no rights in our country until they do. Do you not agree that we have a problem with this situation? Why is that anyone who is not a citizen in other countries have limited visas? It's because there needs to be CONTROL. I agree with the statement on the Statue of Liberty, come and be happy, thrive, but do it right.

As for Obama, I see hope and intelligence. He has had the most perfect campaign ever. And I am praying that he will be a great leader against all he has to deal with after GWB. John McCain may be able to handle the job, but my gut says no.

We all have our opinions, that's America! :)

GO OBAMA/BIDDEN!!! Hi OBAMA supporters! I'm asking you to ignore
All the opposition right now. There are no undecided voters here
Any longer. Let's all join together and SEE IT! God Bless Us All!

    UNITED WE STAND

VISION: The year is 2016. We glance at the television one morning
and see President Obama having another of his many press conferences.
He has now been in office for almost 8 years.

It hasn't been perfect, but things are way better than when he took office
in January of 2009. You notice that his hair has whitened and he still has
that winning smile and that take charge/positive energy that he had when he
was campaigning way back in 2008.

You remember back to how concerned you were about whether or not he would
win in 2008 and you feel deeply contented that he has been safely in office
    for such a long time.

He and Congress have done much to address global warming, health care,
development of alternative energy sources and a variety of other important
matters to the country and the planet. You feel deep gratitude for the past
eight years and how things have unfolded.

See it... Feel it... breathe it....

    Let's shift our focus . . .
Stop fighting against McCain and Palin, and start working "FOR" Obama-Biden.

Let's stop driving ourselves crazy with all of the outrageous mind upsetting
details about them, and start remembering all of the wonderful reasons
we want Obama as our President.

THE CHALLENGE: take 30 seconds right now. Close your eyes and imagine
exactly what our country will feel like with President Obama. Imagine how
good it will feel. Imagine whatever it is about him that you desire.
Imagine the pride. Imagine the diplomacy. Imagine the peace. Imagine the
wind mills and the clean cars. Imagine the citizen groups. Imagine the earth
being healed and revitalized. Imagine being very proud of your country and
its leader. Imagine whatever it is that draws you to support Obama. Imagine
what your life will look like.

    CHANGE FOR HOPE!

PhoenixAz, I, too, live in Arizona, Tucson as a matter of fact, and you are half right. We do have a problem with illegal immigration but it is NOT McCain's fault. He is not down on the border ushering them into the country. They have come for years and they will continue to come so long as we support policies like NAFTA that make the wealthy richer off the sweat, tears and blood of the Mexican worker. I was going to say poor or poverty stricken but those words do not do justice to the poverty in Mexico. It far exceeds that of the poorest American, I dare say they would gladly live in what we think of as poverty in this country. For you to blame McCain for the problems you have blamed him for you are unfair. He has done a good job and has definitely got more experience that is required by the man who is chosen to lead us than Obama. What had Obama done except talk about Obama? He had done nothing that comes even close to what we need from our leader. I am a Democrat but I cannot vote for him, sorry, he just hasn't gotten the experience. It is not a matter of race, I would gladly have voted for Colin Powell, who is a proven leader with the experience required.

    • Posted By: ObamaIsBest4US @ 11/04/2008 7:16:20 PM

What don't you believe? I'm a white male, not involved with any campaign, and I'm on a message board to see if I'm right that Obama is the better president, as well as talk politics about a historic election. Is that hard to believe?

  • Posted By: 4USA2MORROW @ 11/04/2008 7:15:10 PM

Thank you PhoenixAZ, I'm with you the whole way in your McCain commentary - well said!

And inkadinkadoo, I don't every think Obama EVER ONCE SAID he was going to SAVE US. He is definitely up for the challenge though and being that its between him and McCain, Obama gets my vote because he will have the longevity to make even keeled conscious decisions. McCain is ready to bottom out and then we are stuck with a real mess in second position.

  • Posted By: 4USA2MORROW @ 11/04/2008 6:31:11 PM

Sound Policies? Strong Representation? You sound just like McCain - in what ways - he flies under the radar and hides behind his wives money. I've lived here for 15 years - what exactly can you tell me about our great state of Arizona and the blessings McCain has bestowed upon us? Again, he has been the lesser of two evils in his elections.

    • Posted By: Phoenix AZ @ 11/04/2008 7:01:58 PM

I've lived in Phoenix since the 70's and remember John McCain from way back. I feel at times that he's ignored our needs here especially with the illegal immigration problems we face. I don't have any issues with LEGAL immigration at all. I do have a problem with the influx of crime that we now here in Phoenix and the lack of regulation on the hundreds of thousands crossing the border.

John McCain's report card over his career on this subject, including 2008, is a "D". See for yourself at
      http://grades.betterimmigration.com/testgrades.php3?District=AZ&VIPID=33

During this campaign when asked about the Employment Document Verification program he seemed to not recognize what it was. Sorry, but I feel he has let us down over the years. If he can't represent our state he can't represent us as President. Review his past 8 years, he has been George Bush's shadow. Don't think he's a Maverick (not a compliment) nor is he up for Change as he claims.

I'm not for McCain, and definately not for his choice for VP (bad mistake on the Maverick's part). She cost him any chance he might have had for the White House. Johnny boy, you could a picked a contender, but you definately, did not. Ya betcha, Sarah and her "First Dude'... bye, bye.

With the liberal biased media (except Fox) i rarely saw anything about McCain or only just the dirt. Throw in voter fraud in the battleground states, Obama's ACORN funding, the incredible lilberal assault on Palin, gun control, more taxes to support the non working class, free medical care and i can only come to one conclusion; Democrats will do and say anything to get more votes. Like the movie Idiocracy, the poor will be breeding like flies and the rest of us will be paying the way for them. Well that insures lots more voters for Democrats in 2012. Next up; the taxpayer revolt. It's coming soon to a country near you.
And by the way, the economic mess we are now in started with Clinton's push for home loans for folks that couldn't afford the payments. See the Community Reinvestment Act. Thank you Bill, I hope Obama can fix the mess you created for us. Party on boys!

    • Posted By: ObamaIsBest4US @ 11/04/2008 6:43:21 PM

You cannot use "biased media" and "(except Fox)" in the same sentence. It is widely known that Fox News is the most biased media channel in existence. They literally tell their news-people what Republican talking points to say every morning.

Greenova, I actually had to check your post to make sure I hadn't written it. What the majoritiy of people do not get is that the only bad, if you consider it bad, thing that anyone can lay at GWB's feet is the war and we were all for it in the beginning. The social programs are almost 100% Democrat sponsered and the do not work. I do not want my tax dollars going to people who do not work or produce anything but childrem I am a retired social worker and I can tell you that 99% of the homes that get food stamps and welfare benefits, including medical which I don't oppose for children, with a man who is working living in the household and holding down a job, contributing financially to that household. I had a rule of thumb when I was interviewing people applying for benefits. If they came to their interview wearing designer clothes, had manicured nails and smoked I had them investigated. I closed more cases where the household was lying about elegibility than all the other people in my office combined. The problem is we bail out everyone here and abroad and it has to stop. We cannot continue to give to everyone without getting anything back, not even a thank you. So I voted McCain/Palin. I just don't buy that Obama is going to save us all with no experience. It is not a matter of color, had Colin Powell run I would have more than happily voted for him. We know nothing about Obama and I am very much afraid that by the time we find out it will be too late.

My argument about the so called "Redistribution of wealth" is that it entails no oversight amongst large companies. The Reagan "Trickle down economics" implies that the wealthy will pass on a livable wage to the middle-class and below. The fact is, they don't. They buy a second yacht and corner small business while shipping jobs overseas.

America is about entrepreneurship and innovation; which is why we succeed as an economy. When the little guy can't succeed we are at a stalemate. Large companies will find ways to make money and do fine, but they might have to deal with one personal boat instead of 2, and keep jobs in America. If you are making more than $250,000 a year, I don't see how you can complain when our infrastructure (Remember Katrina?) and national debt is leading us to a second great depression. Americans are losing jobs and there is no way to get ahead. We need a new workforce, built from the bottom up, so that in the future "The fundamentals of the economy are strong." Most importantly, we need to run a lower deficit so we don't lose our wealth to China. It is only fair that the credit we've run over the last 8 years so that CEOs can benefit, put them in a higher tax bracket to pay for our record amount of belligerent borrowing.

When the dollar is strong again, and people are succeeding, the economy will flourish and the CEOs will likely be making more money after expanding the economy. This is Econ 101.

    • Posted By: palombo5199 @ 11/04/2008 6:41:34 PM

Whats the point too work hard if all you have to do is give your money to people who dont work hard. We allready have Tax brackets that distribute the wealth. A buisness that makes $250,000 is not a big buisness if they have to support the jobs of 10 or more guys. More buissness will down size to stay under that mark creating less jobs. Why would anyone want to get bigger and pay more taxes. Nobody gets this, because the buisnes makes $250,000 doesn't meant the owner does. Many small buisness that I know the owner is in the ditches with them our working right beside their employes. NONE HAVE LARGE BOATS OR MULTIPLE HOUSES. beacuse they put their earnings back into their buiness to help it grow and to employ more people.

      • Posted By: ObamaIsBest4US @ 11/04/2008 6:59:55 PM

I hear what you're saying. The answer is in the tax credit. Keep in mind that George Bush is still in office, and the reason your friends' small business is not working is because of Bush and not Obama. Small businesses will get tax credits under Obama. I run a small business, and I support Obama. Taxes, by definition, are a distribution of wealth. This is not a new phenomenon.

The truth is, voting for a president - as Nader put it - will not solve all of your problems. You can vote out Mayors, Governors, Judges, etc, and every state's tax policy is different. Every business needs to speak up to their local leader so that they are not hurting. Obama or Mccain can do only so much. Good thought though. :)

    You are a MORON IF:
    1) You think you have God all figured out and quote things from Revelations on this Forum.
    2) You think Obama is evil; you think McCain is evil. Both are great AMERICAN MEN!!!
    3) You cannot objectively look at the issues and vote instead of calling people names.
    4) You think one will hut the economy and make it worse than it is. It cannot get any worse!!!

God said that there would be a fall of a great nation. You'll certainly see that today at the polls when you vote for Obama. For those of you who voted for Obama, I seriously don't think you realize what you did to all of us. Thanks, I appreciate it.

Enough with the Bull...what do you know about God's plans? Instead of hoping and praying what WHOEVER takes office will bring something positive, you are in your little hole with your little opinion insulting maybe, majority of Americans who really think Obama would be equally as good as McCain. Un-American of you!!!! You sit there and you judge - yet you talk about God. Go and repent for judging...
