i cant believe how ignorant some people are. how is obama a terrorist? because his dad's muslim? or because he was associated with some guy who did some stupid things a really long time ago? it's people like you, angel10652, that give this country a bad name. grow up, open your eyes, and step out of your little bubble.

a terrorist....???? come on now people...

  • Posted By: Athena59 @ 11/04/2008 12:14:47 PM

Stop the bigotry and name calling. We all love our Country, we just have different views. McCain is not Bush and Obama is not a muslim. Neither are evil or the anti-Christ. Both would do what they believe is best for our economy and the people of our Country. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

I agree b42nite. Most McCain supporters tend to attack Barack for irrelevant or personal reasons while many Obama supportors are leaning toward the attack on McCains political ideals. Just look at the political commercials if you dont believe me. Yes, there are some Obama commercials out there that may be guilty of the same but the majority are focussed on McCains plans for America.
Its sad to know how many people will go out and vote based on those types of commercials and slander. They have no other means of political knowledge other then maybe how their family tells them to vote. I know that that is how most young people, including myself, end up voting. I did that in the last election and regret it to no end. Its important for everyone to actually research the candidates real plans and viewpoints before listening to all the political slander that goes around.
And one last thing i have noticed on these comments is that people are saying where is Obama going to find all this money the fund all his promises? Well, he has stated in some commercials, debates, etc some ideas. I understand that these are big promises that may not be as well funded as he may lead us to believe, but McCain is doing the same thing. It happens every election. Big promises, no real way of going through with them. I do not thing anyone should be attacking either candidate on these grounds, at least not in a way of saying that neither are credible. As I said, its sad that people will listen to all the bull that goes around and make their deicisions according to such.
      God Bless America

Right on Athena! McCain or Obama - both will do what they believe is right for the country. Both will do their best! And newsflash Americans, the president has A LOT of channels to go through before anything passes or changes. It's checks and balances. Neither of these men will destroy America. They will only do their best to improve it. Different ideas yes, but diversity is the spice of the US!

I just don't see how people can vote for someone who is constantly changing their mind. Yeah, Obama wants change allright, thing is he can't make up his mind WHAT he wants to change too. Open the flood gates and let all the immigrants in the US and give them rights and free health care so us US CITIZENS can bend over and take it and wind up paying for them too. Don't you think all these people that aren't even TRYING to work and getting free health care is enough out of our pockets?? COME ON PEOPLE...WAKE UP! He has NO respect for the flag, doesn't acknowledge it on the pledge, doesn't salute it in ANY fashion. His prejudice wife apparently hated America until he was "elected". Thats her OWN WORDS, "I'm finally proud to be American now that my husband is running." FINALLY?? Where's he getting all his campaign money from? He wants to lower the deficit but pays millions...millions people, on a commercial. Yeah, thats a good way to save. I think we're all SCREWED if he gets the presidency.

Sarah Palin at first seemed folksy and stupid, now she just seems bitchy and dumb. McCain is clueless and reminds me of Reagan in his senile years. Those who criticize social programs have or will need them sometime and are hypercrites. People repeat the propaganda of the ruling elite while being exploited at every turn by the system they are trying to maintain. The time for change is long overdue and an Obama victory will give the best chance of that. He will still have to fight against a system dominated by big money and business and may, in the end accomplish very little. I would be happy if he just ended the wars and shifted spending to better purposes than building bombs and destroying life and property as Bush and the current Congress have done for the past 7 years. .

To WestchesterProud: FYI, you can thank the Clinton administration for putting our Country in debt to other nations like China. Wake up and learn something man. It's uninformed people like yourself that are driving this country into the shape it is in.

Go John McCain. You are what this country needs. O.B. does not have enough experience to get the job done. And if he is elected I will be moving to Canada

I honestly cannot understand why and how so many normal adults are falling for this "Obama as sleeper terrorist" thing. I'm totally baffled. What about McCain? He spent about 5 years in a communist prisoner camp? Why is no one suggesting he's a sleeper agent? He had way more time to have been brainwashed than Obama who spent a month with his dad, who was an atheist Muslim? Not to say I believe either is a sleeper agent or terrorist, but sheesh. Grow a brain people. Do a little real research.

Okay I am going to be as brief as possible while still addressing several of your comments and my own views. The thing that makes me the most upset is the fact that we (Americans) who preach brotherly love for other nations can not come to face with that methodology here in our own country. We (Americans) have hated or disliked each other (Americans) for years based on race alone, and I feel that on both sides of the table the race thing is too big of an issue. Now Cathyif - i am not knocking your support of mccain-palin you are probably a white-mid to low class American who is facing the same struggles as many of the countries white, black, latino, native american, asian and hispanic - and you see several of his pointers as beneficial to you in your current state of life. But what i will knock you for is the hate for a Man who has done nothing but try to help all nationalities listed above and "bail out" the mid class who has been the backbone of OUR country and boost the low-class (which seems to be your status) to a higher status by ways of education, finances, healthcare, taxes, and ultimately True Independence not just on energy, but the dollar, education, employement, retirement, and other topics that deals with YOUR Independence. Now this comment is not to change your vote because it should have already been casted for mccain but to be a learning tool to see that a Man who may not have every issue you value as his high priority can be a President who can help you in your life. Now for your claims of his hatred for the flag and the country remember that your canidate endorsed him as being a Genuine American, a Decent Human Being who cares about everyone and is a whole hearted person who loves his country and everything that it once stood for. So now to let my uneducated voice speak for a min...dont hate on a player because he has more clout and walks with a bigger stick - praise a pimp for his tactics and policies are stone cold and his swagger cant be tamed - so moma be cool and breeze out cause a pimp is about to take the white house for the next Fo and pimp gon git the job done and thats for sho!

I started out working at a factory. I worked very hard and many hours. I made many sacrifices and saved as much as I could. I also took college classes to get a degree and to better myself. This also took alot of money and mroe time. I then went into considerable debt and sacrificed more so that I could start my own business, which was my dream my whole life. It took several years and many more sacrifices and more stress than I thought a person could possibly take. All the stress, long hours, hard work, and many many sacrifes finally paid off. Now owning my own business and doing quiet well, I still have to make many sacrifes still and still have alot of stress that goes along with it. One thing any business owner will tell you is that almost 50% of your income goes to taxes - federal, social security, workmens comp., property, city, state, business, and the list goes on. If my taxes increase I will be forced to raise prices, reduce wages for my emplyees, and even lay some employees off. I have house payments, car payments, kids to care for, college to pay for, and utility bills just like my employees do. I also pay half of their social security, 90% of their insurance, holiday pay, sick pay, uniforms, and bonuses. I worked hard to get to where I am and had to face many obsticles and rejection. But I did what had to be done and did not give up and now Obama wants to tax me even more so that the ones who don't want to make the sacrifes and put in the 80 hours a week, and go hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, and don't want to take care of their own health, he want to take my hard earned money and give it to them. I treat my emplyees very well and they are paid a fair wage. Some of them want to vote for Obama and take the risk of losing their job due to me having to cut back on exspences due to Obama's economic plan. I hope and pray for me and my famlily's sake and for the sake of my emplyee's jobs Obama does not get elected ! ! ! !

Great posting. I applaud your work and sacrifice to build your business and offer employment to others. People should understand that taxing business owners is not the solution. I hope that your business is still operating 4 years from now. Those employees that have voted for B.O. probably will not even realize that the very things that they voted for will be the things that have lead to a welfare state. A country that can give you everything can also take it away.

Don't know about the rest of you but one deciding factor for me was my 2nd Amendment rights! I am a hunter and I love the outdoors. I totally agree with strict gun laws, but do not want nobody messing with my right to bear arms. Obama has stated that he wants to make every law abiding citizen register all their guns....geez, this is not going to stop the criminals from getting theirs. I have personal home protection for a reason!

Would someone from the right please explain why the majority of the post supporting McCain make it sound like we a selecting a pope or religious leader instead of president?
    Top Lies from the Right:

    1. Obama will legalize gay marriage and make abortion common place
President is part of executive branch which enforces the law not make it.
Last time I checked the president cannot effect the rate of wanted pregancies.
    2. Obama is a Socialist/Communist
Obama doesn't not advocate the socialist doctrine of the state owning everything and little or no personnal property. Taxation is common to every government on the face of the earth except nations who have nationalized oil industry that accounts for all the government's fianacial needs.

    3. Obama is not patrotic
contrary to lies produced by ultra- conservative. Obama says the pledge of allegiance. (By the way if you truly love someone or something you have acknowledge its shortcomings before you make improvements) Speaking of patrotism Palin's husband was a member of the an Alaskan Independence society that in favor of Alaska seperating from the USA. She spoke at one their meetings earlier this year before she became the vp nominee. Why isn't her patrotism being questioned? I guess when you are "conservative" your patrotism cannot be questioned.

This election has revealed an ugly side of America which isn't defined by party or race. It is defined by our beliefs and unwillingness to research information for ourselves (especially when it may contradict what we want to believe).

Conservative supply-side economic policy has failed.
Old liberal economic policy may not fair any better.
I believe Obama understand both of those truths and we put people in positions with the knowledge to do the right things to improve it. Not hand outs to the poor or rich.

"The truth is, in order to get things like Universal Health Care, and a revamped Education System, then SOMEONE is going to have to give up a piece of the pie so that someone else can have more." Quote from Michelle Obama. On Oct 15th, 2008 at 4pm Michelle Obama spent $447.39 at Waldorf Astoria on an afternoon snack!!! I don't see her giving up any pie!

I'm not sure why you are all so oblivious to the fact that Obama has provided our country with its first glimpses of hope for the future, something we've been sorely lacking ever since the Bush administration took over.
And stepping down to your level, John McCain is likely to keel over and die at any given moment, and if Sarah Palin takes over this country, we are all headed for an even lower place than we are now - scary to imagine, but actually the reality of the situation. Politics should come with a no-bimbo clause, because somehow we've ended up with this horrible option.

Well b42nite, I have to say you are right that many people make this election an issue of color. But at the same time numerous polls, radio call-in shows, and the like have determined that nearly half of black voters, whether newly registered or previous voters are voting for Obama "just because he is black". For example, on one of those radio call-in shows, five newly registered black voters from Georgia called in to the show. First, the commentator asked who they would be voting for...they all said Obama. Next, he asked them why they were voting for Obama, the commentator would give an issue and the stance on the issue and every time they said they agreed with the stance. The problem with their agreeing is that every stance the commentator mentioned belonged to John McCain. When questioned about this, they were, needless to say, speechless. So perhaps you are right, color is an issue in this election, but that doesn't change the fact that black voters are voting for Obama because he is black. They are blind to the issues and have no idea what Obama can offer them other than someone called them, asked them to register and vote for Obama, and they happily obliged because he is the same race they are! Oh, and in response to the assassination attempts comment....They was a gay couple in San Francisco that had a doll of Sarah Palin hanging from a noose in their front yard, they were not asked to remove the decoration. However, when two college students in Tennessee placed a doll of Obama hanging in their front yard, the media completely blew up the story and they were forced to remove the decoration. So, tell me, is it really fair to say that there have or have not been assassination attempts on either candidate when one is protected by the liberal media and the other is being used by the media as a source of laughs and ridicule!

Anyone who votes for Obama must surely be too young to understand, a welfare recipient or a die hard Socialist. He has refused to release anything about his past and what has been revealed shows his upbringing as a Muslim, his Terrorist friends, his refusal to salute or recognize the Flag and nothing good. He is no more than a great orator. So was Hitler.

    • Posted By: leepdx @ 11/04/2008 12:23:45 PM

Not young, not on welfare and I do understand that for any of the false innuendo spewed from the right in this campaign were true it would take a level of unprecedented collusion that makes it impossible.

    • Posted By: renaeparsons @ 11/04/2008 12:19:32 PM

WOW. I totally agree. Hope all of you think about this before you vote today! :)

  • Posted By: rgtype @ 11/04/2008 12:23:14 PM

Sarah Palin at first seemed nice and folksy, but uninformed. Now she seems bitchy, and McCain is clueless. Obama appears the better choice. I have received money in the form of benefits and know how valuable such programs are for the people who need them. Those who criticize have or will need the same programs one day so they are hypercrites. People are brainwashed into repeating the propaganda of the controlling elite. People are suckers of the system. Obama will be a fresh change.
