all you McBush supporters out there need to get a reality check - Turn the television on, don't you see the lines for voting, never in the history of a presidential election have so many people stood in line to vote. They are not standing there for hours to vote for another McBush, they are standing in line to give Obama the chance to make a difference. It won't help all the McBush fans in the world to belittle Obama as much as they want, we are all ready, it's not about a awhite guy and a black guy running, it is about America, from a white - conservative - female voter

    • Posted By: alanf219 @ 11/04/2008 11:42:11 AM

Maybe just maybe some of those people you see in line are worried about America, maybe they are worried about court selections, maybe they are worried about the unborn or many things. I read a prayer by Billy Graham that was aired by Paul Harvey, it stated......... Heavenly father, we come before you today to ask for forgiveness and to seek you direction and guidance. We know your Word says Woe to those who call evil good; but this is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spititual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discupline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.. We have ridiculed the time -honored valus of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, oh god, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen

So maybe just maybe some of those long lines you see are people like me who are worried about their nation and are voting for the person who is more in line to the values this nation was found on. Leaving now to go stand in line, God bless America !!

Why do you think the "minorties" will get the best scenario if Obama wins - Number 1 the white people are "minorties" - the country is more diversified now than ever. Second - we do have a Congress and Senate that is mostly "white" and all changes need to go through them. He is just one man with ideas.

    • Posted By: ohgoodness @ 11/04/2008 12:09:49 PM

actually - whites have yet to become minorities. Whites will become a minority once another single ethnicity has passed us up in numbers

Gas prices went down 30 days before the election due Bush cronies attempting to shepherd the thoughts of the masses back towards republican election to wh. "Biggest drop in history...", c'mon man! You truly believe it was economic policy. Wag the dog brother, wag the dog.

I hate to do this but I agree with anglfir. Its amazing how we are looking at it as White Vs. Black. Instead of hearing what each candidate has to offer. Its amazing when I am told by McCain supporters that I am only voting for Obama because he is Black. (by the way im hispanic) I think that it is the most ignorant thing anyone can say. But then makes me wonder if you think im voting for Obama because he is black, are you voting for McCain because he is White and not voting for Obama because he is black. Its just frustrating to think that America was becoming color blind until this election. Its also funny to hear those same supporters state "well all the black people are voting for Obama". Another ignorant response. Isn't the reason for the whole election process is to vote for someone you can relate to and who's views you believe in. Also if im not mistaken during every previous presidential campain, didnt all the candidates want to get the votes for Blacks, Hspanics and other non-white races. So now that Obama is going to receive the majority of black votes its wrong because he himself is Black.
For Mickey50978.....what makes you think its not about Race. I appreciate the fact that you are looking at it at who is more qualified then the other person. Which is what we should do. But for the vast majority of people who are voting it is an issue of skin. Look at the attempts at Obama's life already and he is not even president yet. I haven't heard about any assasination attempts at McCain. Also the comments that Obama is a terrorist. What sense does that make. So you, a regular joe, know he is a terrorist but our own Government doesn't. I just hope people go out and make the right choice for the right reason. Vote for McCain. Vote for Obama. But make sure your doing it because of what each candidate brings to the table. Not because of what they look like on the outside.

I do believe there are many uneducated voters. By this I do not mean poor, minority, or academically uneducated voters. I mean voters who do not know the issues; who form opinions off of chain-emails (which typically are falsified), and believe any information presented without checking resources. I think more voters can be "educated" more easily today than 20 years ago due to the internet. It takes just a few clicks to find the foundations of a negative commercial ad or chain email. Despite who you are voting for, get the facts!

People wake up! This is not an election at school where you vote for your friends or homecoming queen! Your vote matters and you need to really educate YOURSELF! Don't rely on the TV, friends, family, ETC... check on how each candidate voted on issues that are important to you. I will not tell you the color of my skin, nor my gender, or who I or you should vote for. I will ask everyone reading this to ask yourself how many times have I heard a Republican say Colin Powell is not qualified to be president? Last time I heard he was black. I am very disappointed how everyone is making this about being black or white. Your vote should be casted because of your own core values not because your friends or co-workers are giving you information and you base your vote on this! PEOPLE PLEASE READ UP ON THE ISSUES AND THINK LOGICLLY!! If you vote in this manner and your candidate is elected and you find out later that he is not what you thought then your the one to blame for the problems in this country!!! One more thing JIMMY CARTER does that ring a bell to any one out there? Read up on that election between FORD AND CARTER the economy was in the crapper, gas prices were high, (if you could even get any), we had foreign problems, and everyone blamed the President for that. Jimmy Carter was elected due to emotions and not on his past experiences, he was a Senator and then a Governor there are public records.. His experiences got this country in trouble with the middle east by not have the experiences and leadership skills to deal with the problems facing him, he was in over his head. If you really feel that your vote you will make today is because you are FEELING and not because you KNOW THE FACTS of both candidates just DON'T VOTE!!

Ok...bomb throwing has been common in this election but a lot of it has merit. I wish I could vote for Obama. He is charismatic and very likable. What keeps me for voting for Obama is how it seems he forgets who he knows, he changes his stance on issues, he has never tried to work with Republicans, he vows to raise taxes (don't think for one minute that we middle classers will be left out of the tax hike), he has no experience, and he's going to ruin the healthcare industry. I know what you Obama worshipers are saying right now...he didn't mean what he said and you interpreded his exact words. Why do you think that he says one thing but really means something totally different? Will his tax hike affect the $250K, the $200K, the $150K, or the $120K? Who really knows? Compare his experience with McCain and hands down McCain is the right choice for the job. Joe Biden has the experience and Sarah Palin has some experience. If you argument against Palin is experience then you can't vote for Obama. Think about that. Obama is running against McCain not Palin but if he were running against Palin he would still fall short in the experience category. Great speaker does not equate into great leader. WAKE UP AMERICA...THIS IS YOUR FUTURE AND YOUR CHILDRENS FUTURE.

An uneducated voter to me is someone who votes for something but cannot say why they voted that way. Also, it's someone who votes a certain way with no regard for what got us to the point we are at today and with no regard for where his/her vote will take us tomorrow. It is someone who takes for granted our freedoms, who thinks that we are all equal spontaneously, that we didn't fight to create our country and our freedoms here. Freedom isn't free. We pay a price for that freedom, and it isn't always war. It means knowing what makes our country great, a country where we want to live and work. It means knowing that if all we do is take, take, take, and never give back to our country and our fellow citizens then our country will deteriorate. We build this country with our votes, with our dollars, with our sweat, with our children, with our education. We have only been around for just over 200 years as a country. Government happens in cycles, so just be careful who you let lead you today for that will determine our tomorrow. Don't take for granted that America is strong and will stay that way without your help and your dedication to making an "educated" decision on election day.

obama also is in favor of making abortion legal. hello do we want a baby killer as our president. not to mention that congress is almost all democratic we need balance people

    • Posted By: hna478 @ 11/04/2008 12:00:01 PM

Abortion has be legal people since Roe vs Wade, it is not like Obama is going to come in and quote "legalize abortion", it has been legal in our country since 1973. It is ignorant to not know your facts before saying them on here...please stop regurgitation things people have said, make your own opinions.

I think this is the most important election in a long time and people need to get over the racist ideas.......It does not really matter what race the next president is, he is going to have his hands full. I think this election should have been about what our roots are and what makes us americans. This great nation was built on christian foundations and we are so far from that right now that most of us should be worried about that more than anything. America is going to be its own destruction one day, I just hope I am not around to see that sad day.

    • Posted By: mr_tall @ 11/04/2008 12:00:01 PM

      To renaeparsons:

This nation was not founded to be a Christian nation, in fact one of the reasons for splitting from England was for religious freedom. That means freedom to be whatever religion a person wants to be. The only way you are right on this is that the laws and morals that were adopted when the country was built were those that were most dear to the founding fathers who were widely Christians. However, the ideals of Christianity are not exclusive to that religion, they are wide reaching and did not start with Christianity at all. I am more concerned with us developing a nation who's government is free from the tennants of any religion and who acts solely on the best well being of the citizens and of their impact on the world. Governments run by religion are typically tyrants and opressors and are blind to the needs of their citizens. Furthermore theocracies are known for massive killings in the name of their god, abuses of power beyond imagine and suppressing the working class in order to keep their power. I'm sure this isn't something you really want.

I guess what I'm really scared about is... Riots... Riots if Obama wins and Riots if he looses... What Kind of example are we trying to show our next generation. Especially in Chicago. Stores are planning on closing early, I mean their is people that are genuinely scared. What about the KKK, if Obama win's I know for a fact they have something planned and the people they caught the other day were just bate, and the real masterminds are still at work. Everyone was brought here. So we are all illegals in some way shape or form. Why can't people understand that. God help us...

I see that both parties have one goal, what is at issue here is how to get there. One wants to even the playing field by taxing companies and the rich, and therefore easing the issues on the middle class, which in fact there is no more "middle class". The other wants business to flurish and created jobs and thus increase spending and income. The problems is business wont pay employees or pay for a decent health care system. And business cant make money, so they move to mexico, or overseas.
So, how do we get to prosperity? The answer is not to tax the business's, as they will move out of the US. One must encourage business, but does our countries citizens want to make shoes for $10.00 a hour? No, thats why there is only one shoe company left in the US. Our citizens have to want to work. And quite frankly I see more and more people willing to go on state assistance, WIC, SSD, VA Non service pension and take their chances on a limited income, and thus, on a limited income, increase crime, and promote a socialistic environment for its citizens.

Im not 18 but I am affected by this like everyone else is.Obama shouldnt be the president of the U.S. he was not raised in America, wont put his hand on a Bible, wont salute the troops, and doesnt respect the U.S. flag..What kind of idoits live in America now?!?!?!?I love America.I dont want to see it torn apart by someone that we put in to run the country. To me he isnt an American.McCain may be old but he does care for this country and he does respect our flag.Wouldnt you rather have someone who loves this country running it than someone who doesnt?..So im praying and crying for God to let Mr. John McCain become our President...Because if Obama gets it..I will hopefully see you all in Rapture when we all go meet the Lord...

this is a very important time in our history-and instead of bickering and complaining lets get together and start planning on our future going forward together. we need to put away old feelings and focus on the business of saving our economy, saving our health system, saving our children, saving the elderly and healing our nation-AS ONE! God bless our new President Obama!- let's get to work!

You do know Obama is for killing innocent lives by allowing abortions and not wanting babies born alive during an abortion to have medical treatment...how is that saving our children.
