Funny how everyone thinks Obama is the "Savior" for our nation's economy - we had the biggest drop in history in gas prices in the last 30 days and look who is in the hot seat as president when it takes place - Bush - "the 'cause' of all of the nation's problems" - just goes to show ya that it's not always who is in the hot seat that makes the world's problems go away! Get a grip people - Obama is not going to make everybody's life become sunshine and roses! Obama as president: Next year at this time when gay marriages and abortions are legal in every state - and people wonder why our families and this country are going to hell - then you can thank your trusty president who "was going to fix all the nation's problems!"

In this day and age I am really dumbfounded on the blatant racism just written here today. I have been a republican my entire life and feel that I am one of those republicans that rooted for Bush in both elections but feel horribly let down. I then decided that Obama is the better candidate for me, not because of his race, but because he gives me something to believe in again. I feel that is what the candidiate should do, inspire passion and a belief in a greater America; I feel that Obama does that. I seriously took a long look at McCain before I did that though and didn't just jump on the Obama bandwagon. For those that just think that everyone that votes for Obama can be just put in one catagory, you are wrong. We are white, southern, and proud to be Americans.

Gingerbread1963, I am voting for the issues not the race - just don't understand why you would be for McCain unless you make more than 250k. I don't think your racist, just uninformed.

I voted today. voted against the Republicans. For the first time in 30 years I voted straight Democratic.

I think this is the most important election in a long time and people need to get over the racist ideas.......It does not really matter what race the next president is, he is going to have his hands full. I think this election should have been about what our roots are and what makes us americans. This great nation was built on christian foundations and we are so far from that right now that most of us should be worried about that more than anything. America is going to be its own destruction one day, I just hope I am not around to see that sad day.

Obama is a great politician. He did not answer the questions during the debate only preached change and lower taxes. He is a smooth talker, i have no idea where he stands but he knows how to bring up bush and play the american people for fools. Mc has over 20 years experience in government, obama has not even finished his term. Obama has friends who hate america. Hello!!! does that not raise a red flag to anyone in this country???Between Burack Husein Obama or a guy who has served and shed blood for his country I go with mc. I am a hispanic college student in oklahoma reg. dem. but I love my country and you must always be on the watch for enemies foriegn and DOMESTIC!! this is how i feel...How do you feel about it???

no experience isn't always a bad thing. People are too influenced by outside forces and to have a fresh, unmolested mind come into office can the thing this country needs.

I am from the south and the baby boom era. As a child, I watched the dogs turned on people and fire hoses used on people of color. We as a people have come a long way. Having the opportunity to vote with very little circumstance is truly a blessing. Obama is going to be a great president and will forever be remebered for being the very first black man to accomplish this feat. He is just down right the better candidate. With Joe Biden by his side, they will go along way with turning this country around.

I have a problem with the fact that so many individuals who would be considered a "minority" in this country are voting for Obama SOLELY based on the fact that he is black, versus voting based upon the qualifications and experience of the candidates. I think Obama is a fantastic public speaker, and a very intelligent, well educated man, but I don't think that qualifies you to run the most powerful country on the planet. He has no foreign policy experience, no real military experience, and he hasn't so much as been the Mayor of a small town. How is he qualified to run the COUNTRY? Simple, he isn't.

Qualifications? Let's talk qualifications on the republican pick for VP?!?! Nevermind, "I'LL HAVE TO GET BACK TO YOU ON THAT" ;)

  • Posted By: skylinesuzy @ 11/04/2008 11:18:45 AM

In response to anglfir if we're going to vote on color then there's a problem, Obama doesn't even qualify as black, his black ethnicity only accounts for 1/8th of his heritage

    • Posted By: ohgoodness @ 11/04/2008 11:40:42 AM

yes, but the Black community, once there's a "hero" with any amount of black heritage, then they automatically claim them... but they have to be a "hero"

  • Posted By: bigdaddy17 @ 11/04/2008 11:40:01 AM

To the ignorant poster "anglfir" I think you might have a screw loose. We are not voting Obama because of his "color" we Dems are fed up with the Bush's and McCain's do you really think this presidential election should have anything to do with race? I hope not. Im sorry if you had anything against Clinton but when Clinton was in the white house this country was working properly. Straight answer? John McCain cannot give a single answer without mumbling his words and stuttering I believe he is really shaking in his shoes because his policies dont match Obama's its very clear to that. Do you really believe Obama is an "American Hater" and why? I'm sorry if you feel that way. Do you have any proof or evidence? That is completely rediculous.

Why is it that because we believe there is a better way to prosperity for ALL that we are "Unamerican". America was built on religious freedom, freedom of speech, the chance ALL to have a chance to succeed, etc.

I have a Master's in Tax from the University of Denver and have been doing tax returns for the so called wealthy americans for 20 years and I know for a fact that the current tax law is not fair to middle class american workers. Most wealthy americans pay a less overall percentage of their income than 90 % of all other americans. For several reasons - the Bush tax cuts, the fact that Social Sec and Medicare is taxed only up to $102,000 - that's 7.65 % right there, the Section 29 tax credits given to oil companies and the royalty owners which are mostly wealthy individuals who bought up property leases holding drilling rights and then leased them back to the oil companies and lots of other tax credits (not tax cuts but actual credits) given to the wealthy. Why shouldn't they pay the same percentage of their income to the government as the rest of us.

We don't beleive they should pay more then their fair share just that their % of income is the same as ours. They shouldn't get to keep 83% of their income whie their secretary only gets to keep 70%. Before putting misleading info on these posts maybe you should see a tax accountant.

What are the changes we are in for if Obama sould become president? Will they be for all people of race and ethnic background? I am not prejudice at all, and by that I mean Color, look, or belief do not offend me, however I am afraid we are in for all kinds of change for the "minorities" of America. Change can be good if it is for all people, change directed toward on group or another is not good. Neither candidate shows me a direction we need to be headed in. We are not the America I grew up in and I am afraid of the direction we are headed in.
Please give me some insight of the changes we are facing if Obama gets in!!!!!!!

Oh please! Get over yourself. People aren't ignorant just because their opinion is differebt from yours. And you don't know what Obama is going to do. They never do what they say they will. So get off your high horse

salsplace, go back to school and learn to spell. Welfare is dominated by monkeys producing more and more monkeys that don't want to work. Get your facts straight. I'm sure a good majority of WHITES on welfare are on it because they have been hardworking AMERICANS and have been outsourced or downsized and are not able to find jobs immediately, as opposed to the monkeys that collect welfare for generation upon generation. With Osama in office, it'll only encourage them to stay on it longer. The monkey can't salute my flag, he is a terrorist.
