Are you a McCain Supporter? Please help my conscience understand something. Lets put all other politics aside for a few minutes, save one....morals. I know many folks who support McCain are not racist. How does it sit with you when you see people at McCain's & Palin's rallies chant racist words and make violent threats, but McCain does not chastise this kind of talk, this kind of thought?

I have never done any one big great thing in my life. But I know I have done many little good things. For one, while I believe everyone is free to their own (peaceful) beliefs, I have never, not ever, remained silent when hateful and/or racist language was spoken in my presence. Why? Because not for one minute could I allow my silence to be confused with agreement.

Why does McCain, with his following, not do greater things than I and show he is capable of moral leadership? Why does he not immediately speak out against hate and show he will lead us away from it?

Doesn't this tug at that decent moral fiber in you?

Please read a few posts below (hit the show all comments button) about a comment by Rexy, as his innocence about the reality of racism begins to be shattered. Then read the reply by Gleason which is the most beautifully written, deeply profound but heart-tugging comment I have read on any political blog yet. Gleason also helps us understand the concept of change in both a political world and as a human on earth, from a perspective that both grabbed my heart as well as my mind.

That's all for me folks. I've been here since last evening, and I'm shot. It pleases me to see some much more thoughtful posts here now, as opposedto the ones I was reading when I got here. No, I am not so concieted as to think that my presence here has really made any difference. It's just good to see. Keep thinking. Keep reading, and please, help to keep hope alive. It's one of the few things we have left. VoteObama /Biden

I hate politics and in particular the two party system that of stereotypes people as Democrats or Repubicans, we all need to think for ourselves. As a middle class American making less than $250,000 a year, and paying more than $60,000 a year in various taxes, I propose my own candidiate for president, "Jay Sabo"-short of course for "Just Shut-up And Bend Over" . Because after all when it comes to how government spends our hard earned money, all taxpayers get screwed. Nite all.

Macwheaton, Perhaps you like the idea of your child sitting next to a Latino child in class, who has TB, and no health care. There have been a number of "socialist" programs that have been very good for all Americans. Don't be swayed by the radical, and now desperate ideas from the right. Think this through. Vote according to your own ideas, instead of those that have been preached to you. It's far too important to be taken lightly. Gleason

I've been reading your comments, everyone, and while it's probably fun to slam GW Bush, he walked into
    the Presidency and a hell of a mess after 8 Clinton/Democrats administration - then 9/11 and while I don't
love the man, he handled it as best he could. Congress is Dem so again - he couldn't do all he did by
himself, good, bad or indifferent. I don't love McCain/Palin but the alternative is an eloquent, charismatic man whose history is full of holes, his background is questionable at best, his ties to Islam are undeniable,
and his 'friends' through his political career are shady indeed - he has so little going for him that the only
thing in his favor may be his color - people who are against him will be branded racist. I don't trust politicians
anyway, but since we have to choose - I'd want a candidate who is totally American, who served his country
with distinction and is less dishonest than most - because Obama is going to hand this country over to its
enemies on a platter - he reminds me of the Manchurian Candidate - if you don't know what that means - search the net.

awilduck, While I commend you on yoour efforts to make sense of this situation, I must disagree with your sumation. The "mess" that Clinton left behind , was stacks of money. A surplus, which has now been turned into an e l e v e n T R I L L I O N D O L L A R DEBT, which we owe largely to the CHINESE!, and that ain't the half of it. I'm no great supporter of Bubba Bill's, his NAFTA ideas were absurd, for instance, but I don't believe that you can compare these two presidents in this way. Not after the carnage of the last eight years. You need to rethink your Obama position as well. We cannot ,of course, expect that he will save the world, but a great number believe that he will truly try. John McCain has made it clear that he has no clue, and wouldn't do anything on our behalf if he did. You need to look through the bull that he's been giving us. It changes like the weather, and that is the only change we can expect from him. Please give your position some more thought. You seem like an intelligent person. I hope you will find some better answers. Gleason

The Manchurian Candidate is a 1959 thriller novel written by Richard Condon, adapted into films in 1962 and 2004. It is about the son of a prominent political family who has been brainwashed into becoming an unwilling assassin for the Communist Party. The novel has been banned in communist states "for political reasons" and was "condemned by the American Legion."

There is no end to connect the dots that don't connect! Glad you're on top this morning! I have to go as explained above! Hope to see you here Mon and Tues. I already voted! Yay!

What does redistributive mean. Well, remember that it was the Left-Wing of the Supreme Court that brought us this little jewel, holding that the government could take your real property, like your home, not for public use, but to give to another private individual, such as a political contributor or other party hack or interest group.

Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005), was a case decided by the Supreme Court of the United States involving the use of eminent domain to transfer land from one private owner to another to further economic development. The case arose from the condemnation by New London, Connecticut, of privately owned real property so that it could be used as part of a comprehensive redevelopment plan. The Court held in a 5-4 decision that the general benefits a community enjoyed from economic growth qualified such redevelopment plans as a permissible "public use" under the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment. Justice John Paul Stevens wrote the majority opinion; he was joined by Justices Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer

The decision was widely criticized by American politicians and the general public. Many members of the general public viewed the outcome as a gross violation of property rights and as a misinterpretation of the Fifth Amendment, the consequence of which would be to benefit large corporations at the expense of individual homeowners and local communities. Some in the legal profession construe the public's outrage as being directed not at the interpretation of legal principles involved in the case, but at the broad moral principles of the general outcome.

There is a reason that politics can be considered a sleazy profession. When a candidate and his campaign will do anything and say anything to win, even while they profess to be providing "truth" to the masses, everyone loses.

I am a registered Republican - my very own cross to bear right now. I actually voted for McCain in the 2000 primaries - back when he saw a "special place in Hell" for the gutter politics that lost him the primaries that year. But the GOP and, sadly, the nation, have been hijacked by a narrow-minded group of demagogues who put forth the "you're either with us or you're against us" philosophy. A philosophy that is ruining the United States of America - both here and abroad. What happened to nuance, discussion, differing points of view? Why am I un-American to doubt the direction our country is headed? Am I less of a patriot because I have beliefs that differ from yours, or theirs? How sad that McCain, once truly considered a maverick has thrown his lot in with this mob of neocons.

I have never before been involved in a campaign. I have never done more than make my own decision and vote. This year I feel compelled to make my voice heard. I refuse to allow the filth, fraud, and divisiveness that have been spewed for 8 years (12 if you count the circus provided by the Republican Congress at the expense of Bill Clinton and which did nothing for us as a nation) to be the face that is seen of America around the world. Guantanamo? Abu Ghraib? The war in Iraq? The NSA? Blackwater? Multi-million dollar bonuses for corporate executives while their stockholders suffer the consequences of Washington's belief that the market will regulate itself and American families are turned out of their houses by dishonest lenders? When do we, a decent, hardworking people, stop these atrocities??? When do we finally decide that we must clean up our own government before pretentiously attempting to clean up others'?

Basically, which of these men do you believe will move America forward? McCain, who is using the very same team of thugs to run his campaign that thumped Dubya into office nefariously - twice? Who has cozied up to and amened Bush until the last 12 months when it was not in his best interests to do so? Or Obama who has been extremely consistent in his message, level-headed in his approach to the name-calling and divisiveness? Who has put forth an actual PLAN for changing America? A man whose worst fault, according to early McCain campaigning, is that he is well-spoken and likeable?

I absolutely believe that Obama provides the leadership, vision, and temperament to move the USA back to what has made it a shining example in the world's eyes. He can inspire us to accomplish more than we think is possible. I joyously voted for him and encourage you to join me.

I am also a Republican who supports Barack Obama, I am retired military, have an MBA (or 2), father to an Iraq war veteran (2 tours) work in the financial investment sector, live in Colorado, and am a life-long Baptist and a born again Christian. It is amazing to me how any group will support the McCain ticket with their lies, innuendo and motley cast of Saddam Hussein lobbyists, Joe "The Plumber's Helper" (remember he's not licensed) scofflaws that owe back taxes and unpaid traffic tickets, and Rovian accolytes that have resorted to robocalls and false information flyers (5 November as voting date for VA Dems),

        • Posted By: jrsamples @ 11/01/2008 11:53:23 PM

Wow, a born again Christian and Baptist. Wait, doesn't Obama support the practice of the daily slaughter of more than 3,500 American unborn babies every day including today? Probably another 7,000 before the votes are counted on Tuesday. Did not the great Obama stand firm on his support of partial birth abortions...the type (as I understand) where the late term fetus is pulled feet first from the womb and then an instrument of some kind is inserted into the skull to damage the brain? Being a Baptist as you say, you must be aware of your impossible stance? Surely, you cannot believe that God will look the other way (of course I don't know) when you support a man that may have the power to change this terrible injustice? Is the economic "change" and world acceptance you seek more important than this one simple little issue? Please my fellow Baptist, wake up!

It is a sad day in America when a citizen can not ask a leader a question without being smeared and attacked by that leader and his follwers. What is a crime is that computers paid for by tax payers and the people being paid by tax payers money were being used to look into Joe's background. Anything that Joe has in his past has nothing to do with this election. What we should be glad of is that his question brought to the forefront Obama's Socialist views. And still, so many people are blinded by his ability to read a telepromter speech, that they are willing to look past these Socialist views.

I think the saddest thing about this election is that mcCain is even close. With the total catastrophe that we have in DC now, how could anyone support this strange duo? That even 40 to 50% of the public believe these ideological nonsense is what is really scary. The rest of the world already is watching us in disbelief. Haven't you read the polls in Europe and other countries. McCain doesn't even show on the meter.

    • Posted By: BSIG @ 11/01/2008 10:28:42 PM

I feel the same way about how close this election is, only I can believe the 50% of American's could be decieved by this inexperienced Senator who has no record, will answer no questions and just repeats old liberal talking points that have been repeated for 30 + years. Not to mention the fact that his whole economy plan is the definition of Socialism. I can believe that he doesn't even hid his Socialistic agenda and still this many people are blindly following him. Yes he is offering change, but what he wants is to led us to the next failed Socialist experiement. I pray that there are enough people out there that see this , and get out to vote McCain, so we can save this country from total destruction.

Your former President G.W. Bush had experience and a republican congress. So I ask, Is Obama's inexperience really an issue? This country needs something new and exciting. McCain brings forth the same ole republican "Hard Line" approach, which this country does not need. Something new for change.
        Go Obama!!!

        • Posted By: blista @ 11/01/2008 11:13:49 PM

Amen L8Nite! You know you're just a right wing sheep when you drop the word "socialism". Give me a break! Have you been asleep for the last eight years?!? Here's a short list of REAL things that HAVE HAPPENED under Republican leadership, and they sound a lot like things that would happen in a communist/socialist state! *Nationalization of the banks. *Warrantless wire-taps. *Torture in prisons. *"Free-Speech Zones" and the Patriot Act. *Weakening of Habeus Corpus *Redistribution of 90% of the wealth to 10% of the population... But you are MORE afraid of the hypothetical "socialism" that supposedly will occur if Obama is elected?!?! Get a freakin clue! "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

          • Posted By: Gleeson @ 11/02/2008 12:40:14 PM

Well said Blista! If only we could get more Americans to actually compare this past presidency with the previous ones, ALL of the previous ones, then perhaps more republicans would now have their mouths shut and their ears open. ...It's as though a young boy has thrown a baseball through a window, but insists on explaining to everyone what a great picher he is. If only they understood what an embarrasment they are to thinking Americans, perhaps they might just say,"Woops! I'm sorry." That would be a step in the right direction. Gleason

I agree that the bail-out should have never been past. I feel the banks that were caught holding those bad home loans should have went out of bussiness and the good parts of them bought up by successfull bank. I just find it funny how quick the "do nothing" Dems in Congress were to support Bush on this bail out plan( the man that they all trash constatly) . Then they trashed the Republican Reps. for failing that rediculious plan,. We were told they had to pass that bail-out, I guess to cover for the fact that those banks were forced to make bad loans by Bill Clinton policies and corrupt dealings by the Congressional Democrats and thier cronies running these corrupt institution. The bail-out should have never happened and all involved should face trial. I was outraged when McCain not only passes that $700 billion joke, but aIso allowed them to add another $112 billion in pork. I have never been a big McCian supporter (he is too liberal for me) but given the option I have no choice.

And the people you are talking about, are in part, are the same Germans that cheered Obama as he belittled the U.S. in his speach that he gave on the field trip he took with the main stream media holding his hand. I am having a lot of difficulty justifying a vote for him. MCCain blows him away with his experience. Sorry guys I'm a democrat for MCCain.

    • Posted By: Gleeson @ 11/02/2008 9:19:44 AM

How about this Ohiodem He came into this election lagely an unknown, and won the hearts and loyalty of hundreds of millions of Americans who bothered to READ SOME BOOKS and learn his story, which in turn made them inclined to give record amounts of money to him, mostly in very small donations. Think about thatohiodem. More money than ever before, in small donations. That tells you that huge numbers of Americans dug deep, so that this man might have a chance to be our next president. This is unpresidented., and tells you far more than any attack ad on your boob tube. Think. You may just get to the truth yet. I hope you do. You do seem to be truly interested. I still have to wonderthough. How can someone who cares about our country wait until a few days befor the election to begin to educate himself? Do you really think that anyone here can bring you up to speed now? Typing in tiny boxes? Ain't gonna happen my friend. Run out and buy a copy of "The Audacity of Hope " by Barrack Obama, and see if you can read it really really fast, and understand what you're reading as well. Perhaps you're a genious, and are capable of that. Somehow I doubt it. though. The questions you're asking at this late stage in the game make this a legitamit question. Are you someone who has done your share and educated yourself in preparation for this monumental event? No. Clearly, you are not, and yet, you come here and expect everyone to put up with your lazyness, and indeed, answer your foolish questions. I'll say this one more time Ohiodem. Perhaps you should consider sitting this one out, and reserve this space for Americans who have more respect for our system, and their right to vote. That, would be good of you. Gleason

Audacity is an excellent read...Also pick up "Why We Are Liberals" (I forget who wrote it sorry), and if you are feeling all sorts of frisky pick up "Dude, Where's my Country?" a great book by Michael Moore and "Truth" by Al Franken. Great reads, all.

        • Posted By: Gleeson @ 11/02/2008 12:10:49 PM

Yes. Rexy has made some good reading choices. A lot of people surely would have benefitted from Woodwars series on the Bush adnistration, as well as Richard Clark's book about the same. This of course would have helped if people had read them BEFORE the election. For those of you who don't know who Richard Clark is, he was a fixture in the White House through several administrations, and trusted by all. 15 years , if I'm not mistaken. Clark was the man who Cheney and Rice put in charge during the attacks on 9/11, knowing that he was the man for the job. Reading Colon Powell's side of the story, is very enlightening. Reading Scott McClellan's story, while a bit whiney, can't hurt either. The information has been available for a long time folks. It's a shame that so many are still glued to FOX News, and the opinions of morons. If you're in doubt about your ability to make a good decision here, again, there is no harm in sitting this one out. In many cases, that would be the patriotic thing to do. Gleason

    • Posted By: Gleeson @ 11/02/2008 11:47:27 AM

Yes Roxy, that is an unfortunate truth. I moved to the South not so long ago, and have found that here, as well as a lot of other places, racism is alive and well. The thinngs that come out of their mouths would no doubt amaze you, make you wonder if you had been caught in a time machine. We must understand that these are simple people with simple thought patterns. They like things the way that they are, and believe that conservatism is the way to get there. The things they say, clearly show their lack of intelligence, and at the same time, attack Obama, calling him a stupid n..... Only time, and a lot of it, will change this fact, as these people refuse to read anything, or try to understand anything that doesn't jive with their plan to stop the progress of time, but this seems to be a problem that many Americans suffer from. We all need to understand that change, whether we like it or not, is part of the definition of a democray. Inversly stated, if a democracy isn't in a constant state of change, then it cannot be called a democracy. In other words, free people do not sit on their hands, and watch time go by. we are always changing.Because we are a nation of immigrants, and believe that people should be allowed to come here, so long as they do it legally, our population is always changing. As science moves into new areas of thought, people think in new ways. Change can not be stoped, and I'm not sure that it should be, despite my own pining for the America that once was. I for one however, if I'm lucky enough to see it, will be delighted to see the end of racism, as it is the ugly side of human, American ideas. We need to realize that globalization is not "coming". It has already happened, and it happened to us, probably more so than any other country. Respectable scientist now agree, global warming will ruin the planet for our children unless we do something about it. If we are steeped in predudices against our fellow Americans of different colors, then how on Earth will we be able to do the work that is nessesary with the rest of the nations of the world, in order to make our future as the human race even possible, let alone good. There is much to do, and time is wasting, and yet Americans labor over what color we should now paint the White House. The task seems unbearable, but we have no choice but to proceed. Earth belongs to all of us. We must fight against anything and everything that stands in the way of the creation of a new and better race of human beings. If we care about the future of our children, and theirs, then the battles will clearly emerge. Only question is, do we have the nerve to fight those battles. I'm sure that you will agree, this planet is worth fighting for. If you lead, some will follow. That's a start. Gleason

Ferdmcberf-no I do not work for the Mcain Campain. The problems we are seeing today is a cumulation of decisions made by all of our political leaders (democrate and Republican) over the last 50 years. We cannot blame one person for all of our troubles. The reason all these problems continue is the lack of bipartisanship we have witnessed through BOTH parties. Both democrats and republicans are responsible for what we are going thorough today. What we need is people who are elected make thier decisions based on what is right for the American people and not what is good for the party. Anyways the question is still ...how can the government continue to operate on a checks and balance system if 1 party holds the power in all? In a perfect world, they would just get rid of the party system and a person can run for office based on thier values and decision making skills rather than who can bring more liberals or conservatives into office.

    • Posted By: Gleeson @ 11/02/2008 10:56:24 AM

You are correct. The blame goes to Bush, Cheney, Carl Rove and all the people who thought that they could impress their religeous beliefs upon the rest of the country, and based on this belief, voted for this administration. It is true that our leaders in Washington have been failing us for decades, but that damage pales in the face of what has happened to our country during the past eight years.....I was taught that if you break something, you should admit it, as a means or reparation. In order to make ammends. Suddenly, I'm hearing a lot of republicans who want to blame every one who ever served in Washington, or voted for people who have served in Washington. Let me make this clear. Many of us are blameless in this. We did not vote for the people who have been destroying our country for the last eight years. If I was to blame in any of this, I would stand up and admit it like a man. Your turn. A lot of us are waiting. Gleason

Obama has a righteous, cocky attitude and to tell you the truth, I think he does nothing but whine if he doesn't get his way. He displayed the utmost disrespect and cockiness in the 3rd and last debate. He was "caught" and knew it and therefore, shook it off with that so familiar, cocky snicker of his. I do not like this man. I do not like his character. I question his abilities to run our country and most of all, I question his integrity. How much do you think Barack Hussein Obama really loves the United States of America? Can anyone answer that for me? A President loves his country with a PASSION, respects the veterans and troops. Respects the CONSTITUTION. Seriously, can ANY OF YOU answer this question? How many out there think Barack Obama loves the United States of America more than life itself? After all, this is what a President is and always should be. I'm waiting for answers....

  • Posted By: Redlabel @ 11/01/2008 11:42:53 PM

I agree that we the people are all to blame for the mess our country is in right now. It is unfortunate that we have become so numb to the workings of our government that we just shrug and say, "Oh well" while the folks who we hired to represent us go about their daily business as if they answer to no one. Lets look at our four Presidential and VP candidates. Three sitting US senators and a sitting governor. Three of the four are being paid to do a job as US employees. They are not being paid to run for their next office. All three should have had to take an unpaid leave of absence from the Senate while they are on the presidential campiagn trail. Afterall, how long do you think any of us would be allowed to keep our current job if we used spent all day, every day at or current job trying to find a new job? Yet none of these guys seem to have a problem with continuing to accept a senator's salary. As to the governor, If I was an Alaska resident, I would not be very happy that my employee was shirking her duties to the state so she can run for a different office.

I think it was Albert Einstein that said "You can't solve a problem using the same people that created the problem in the first place" It's a rough paraphrase, but you get the drift.

As far as the hatred of Americans overseas, I used to beleive that was a fact, as well. However, when I was in Europe two years ago I was pleasantly surprised to find that the people on the street were not really much different than we are. They didn't hate us instantly because we were Americans. On the contrary, many of them, especially in France, went out of their way to show their appreciation for what the US did over 60 years ago. Talk about long memories! The interesting thing was that it wasn't just memories of folks from the WW II era. Those folks had passed their appreciation for America on to their children and grandchildren! It was these younger generations that continued to demonstrate appreciation. So, don't believe everything you see in our media!

Final thought, I have run into a lot of folks over the past several months, Repulicans and Democrats who seem to think their political affiliation is akin to having a favorite football team that they have to be faithful to. Frankly this is maddening to me! We all need to understand where the candidates stand on the important issues of the day. It is unacceptable to act like being a Democrat or Republican is no different than being a Detroit Lions fan. We are choosing people to run our country, not routing for our favorite football team!.

I'm very happy to have someone else here that agrees with me when it comes to politics. You are absolutely right about what you said, and I hope that others are able to open their eyes to this.
Sidenote: I'm very happy to hear about your experience in Europe. I myself am traveling there next summer, and I have heard stories from my friends that have already been there. So thank you for letting me know. :)

Red Label, It's no surprise that many republicans, who are begining to come to their senses, would like to think that "We are all to blame.", but there's a problem with that statement. Many of us knew that GW Bush was a horrible choice all the way back in 2000. That's why we didn't vote for him. Also, many of us have been waiting quietly, politely, for this election, so that we might have a chance to repair the incredible damage done by the republican stratgists who deliberately divied our country with propaganda and outright lies in order to gain power. Now , you want us to remain civil ablout all this. Well, I for one am tired of being civil. Republicans are the ones who got us into this mess. The least you can do, for starters, is to admit that you were wrong, and carry the water of your own foolishness. THERE IS NO TIME LEFT HERE FOR YOU TO SHUFFLE BLAME!! Admiting your mistake would be a productive thing. The slobbering you just did, will accomplish nothing...... Judging by your Einstein comment, you sound like a basicly sensible man. Please rethink your position, and try again. Perhaps you can do something good here. Gleason

JRSAMPLES: First of all, if you really are a Christian, what are you doing judging me? Remove the plank from your own eye before you try to remove the mote from mine! Then, read your Bible and learn how to behave like the Christian Jesus asked you to be, because what you wrote was seriously un-Christian!

I am not "your kind" of Christian. YOU are NOT God, and in no way do you have HIS authority to judge anyone else. Christians are given "discernment", not "judgement." I choose to believe that unconditional love, emulated by Jesus, is the spiritual calling in all of us. That being said, I also believe there are many paths to find God, including many religions that are not "Christian" based. My God, is a God of Love, and He is omnipitent, therefore, HE is powerful and almighty and is working in mysterious ways for all of the mankind He created.

Pro-choice is an issue between a woman and her maker. Anyone's relationship with God, is between them and their God...not you, not me. If you want to be in a religious war, go join your like minded in the Middle East where they have continued to kill in the name of God for thousands of years. And beware, judge not, lest ye be judged. God Bless you!

Thank You!!! You are amazing dude! I am an agnostic (meaning I know that something is there, i just dont know what) and I truely believe that whoever created us or dreamed us or whatever loves ALL human beings not just the ones that choose to worship one religion or another. As long as you live your life as a moral and upstanding individual, you can face the judgement of the Creator.

Dear Rexy, There is nothing wrong with your idea of what an agnostic is, and in fact, you can pretty much define it any way you want to, just as Christians often redefine Christianity, etc. I, for example, am an atheist, who believes that we can all learn some good things by reading about many religeons, even if we believe that man created God in his own image, as I do. There is great wisdom in Budism, as well as many others, and we would be foolish to deprive ourselves of that wisdom. However, I must say this one more time. religeon has no place in political discussion. Not in our democracy. Not now, and not ever. Your religeon is between you and who you percieve your maker to be, and you, and your friends and family. Our Constitution is clear, despite what a lot of religeous people will tell you. Church should have nothing to do with the affairs of state, until someone's right to freedom of religeon is in danger of being oppressed. The "right" , in recent years has been high-jacked by the Carl Rove politicians, who claimed to be the voice of "values", but in truth, could not care less about your religous beliefs, or how safe they are. They simply want you to vote for a republican. That, in my view, is enough to make me never vote for a republican again, and before this turns into a discussion about religeon, let me say this. This is no time for religeous discussion, but rather a time to pick a president who will protect our rights, rather thasn lying to us for political reasons. That said, I will speak about religeon no further here, so as to make room for comments by those who want to discuss politics. That after all, is the name of this page. Let's stick to the subject. My pleasure! Oh..I'm a dudette! In my spirit I know we are all a part of each other. Here's a beautiful poem about unconditional love to warm your heart. My God of Love emulates this and must have inspired it! http://www.itstime.com/love.htm There is something mysterious about "truth", when you hear it, it will resonate with that higher spirit in you. If you read the new testement, you will find Paul telling Timothy that he needed no one to teach him, because the "word" (spiritual truth) was already written in his heart. I do not disuade anyone from reading, but with your open heart, you will have this discernment instinctively. Actually, I thought an Agnostic was someone on the fence between there is a God, there isn't a God. Sounds to me that you have a concept of something greater than yourself, so I wouldn't call you an Agnostic. But, it all matters not, really, because I know Love is the answer.....there is no higher calling or harder path to follow. I'll forever be learning and evolving. And I see so many of faiths with names and no faiths with no names walking this walk! They are the richest in peace, happiest people I know who do the most good in this life, lifting up others. You sound like one of them!

        • Posted By: rexymeteorite @ 11/02/2008 5:17:56 AM

Love, peace and unity are always the path that I try to follow. I get very upset when god loving individuals support war and hatred. Even though I do not claim to be a christian in any way, and probably never will be (currently I have been looking into Mahayana Buddhism). Even in Buddhism the Eightfold path preaches that we must live our lives according to these principles (and others) to ascend to a higher plane of existence.

I call everyone dude. Agnostic can mean you are on the fence of god existing or the other explanation I gave. At least thats what I grew up believing. I may be wrong, I dont know. If I am ignorant about this topic, excuse me, my family aren't the most religious of folks.

Guess what rexy. I support abortion. If a woman is raped by a man like..Jeffery Dalmer, for instance, I would certainly not expect that woman to bring a child into this world carrying his incredibly insane DNA, a thing which could destroy the rest of the woman's life. I believe that in a case such as that, it should be the woman's choice. The reason I believe that, is because in such situations, I believe in errinng on the side of freedom, and not the ideas of a sellect portion of American people who would like nothing more than to have all Americans live according to their religeous beliefs. You're trying to walk some fine lines here. Please be careful when you try to speak for everyone. Also, your posts will be more effective if you calm down a bit, and don't curse at religeous people. Who knows, they might .....melt..:) Gleason

Yes, I understand. I was by no means saying that its somehow wrong for a woman to get an abortion when the child birth may 1. risk her life or 2. the pregnancy is a result of rape. Sorry if I came off sounding like that. I dont mean to sound angry or anything like that. I guess I am a little perturbed at the fact that I am roped into being called Pro-Abortion because I am Pro-Choice. I probably should avoid sweeping generalizations before I get myself in trouble. Like I said, My PERSONAL opinion is that abortion is ethically wrong but should legally be allowed (except in certain situations) not every pro choice person may feel the same way I do. Sorry people :/

If you are an undecided voter, an educated, thinking person who has not bought into the propaganda being hurled at you, I invite you to spend an hour or two reading many excellent entries below. Sorry, you will have to sift through many comments that'll make you shake your head. But you will also find an endless wealth of contributions by intelligent, educated, knowledgeable people who share the same concerns as you. Many of us have transcended the "noise" and researched and read and deliberated both sides of this Presidential race. Many of us are not ignorant or naive about politics or politicians. Many of us have been paying attention for decades. All of us are deeply concerned about our country. Honestly, I hope you'll vote for change, but at least I hope you'll give your vote considerable thought.

DefyObama - Educate yourself about the issues. And as far as Barack Obama, a friend of mine had him as a law professor in Chicago. He is the real deal and an intelligient, geniune individual. He is not a mystery. He is the man born in Hawaii - yes, one of our 50 states, who had a single mother. He worked hard, went to college, to law school, and got involved in the political arena for the good of the country. Secretive and a mystery? I don't think so. And he doesn't own 5, 6,7 ,8 or is it 9 houses?

    • Posted By: DefyObama @ 11/01/2008 9:52:35 PM

I am a well-educated woman and I have studied barack obama for around 6 months now, read all of his books, been a news junkie non-stop. I am not going to get into heavy details here because it is highly impossible to penetrate anybody's mind wheh it comes to shedding true light on who Barack Obama really is and what he really stands for. I have come to the sad conclusion that either 1) anyone voting for this man is very uneducated and doesn't realize what they're doing or 2) highly educated and knows exactly what they are doing and that's even more scary. Liberalism is the ruination of our country. Think about it - liberals have turned our country into one huge cesspool of corruptness, warped ways of thinking, no sense of values, entitlement expectations; basically a free-for all. What are we leaving for our children? How much worse can it get? What happened to the family unit? What happened to sensorship? What happened to work ethic? What happened to RESPECT? I'm sorry but Barack Obama is not an icon roll model - in fact, he and his radical views and associations are actually despicable. I will tell you that NEVER will I refer to him as my President simply because I disapprove of everything he stands for and everything he represents. This is nothing to do with skin color (he is not black, he is half white and half Arabic). This has to do with MAN himself. Trust me when I say this man will be the ruination, destruction and demise of the United States of America. We fought so hard to NOT be like the other countries and he will undo all of it just as fast as he can while the rest of the world looks on and laughs while we're humiliated. This sickens me. It makes me ill. I can't sleep at night. I go to the mall and there are posters in clothing stores depicting young men of color resembling Barack Obama. I turn on the televisiion and I'm bombarded by clips of him and I hear his voice constantly on radio and t.v. I go to the airport, again, the same thing...posters of Barack. WHAT IS THIS? IS HE CONTROLLING US? IS THIS A SUBTLE BRAINWASH? Is this A CULT? I mean I am to the point where I cannot even look at this man, nor hear him speak and the thoughts of having to be in prison for 4 years waiting for him to leave us is excruciatingly painful. All I can say is Americans have been warned, they've seen it, they've heard it, it's all well documented FACT and Barack makes no bones about how he feels and what his views are. He and the rest of the countries are laughing at the American people and WE are letting him do it. It's despicable, disgusting, and truly the death of the United States as we know it.

I believe when you say people have been brainwashed. I believe strongly especially with the college students that they have been brainwashed to vote Obama, I see this in my very own son. People don't vote on Tuesday if you are just wanting Obama in to make history. This is not the way to vote. Vote for the right person with the experience.

I am very troubled and concerned with this upcoming election. i do not feel the need to be talking about President Bush at this time is the right choice by anyone. He is not one of the canidates running for office. My son went to Iraq for a year and I have never once heard him blame President Bush for the war we are in. I do not think you will hear from very many of our service men/women balme the President.Yes I am a republican but that doesn't mean that I always vote straight republican. I go in and vote for who will be the best man/women to be voted for. I honestly hope all Americans can go to the polls on Tuesday open minded with the canidates and not just based on being democrat or republican. Think if you are wanitng our country to be open for another attack or remain safe. Think about a picture of canidates standing for OUR National Anthem with their hands on their hearts except for one canidate. That just disrespects our country. Think about one of the canidates and his wife having tight connections with people in Iran. What about a document that has been sealed with a picture of one of the canidates having a toast with a close friend from Iran.?. Funny it won't be opened for the Americans to see. Don't go to the polls and just vote for the man whom will make history just because of the color of his skin. I am tired of hearing look just what all the republicans in office have done. Just because one is a repulican doesn't mean he or she will not do a great job for our country. We are all different individuals with different ideas and thoughts. Think about one of the canidates if sworn in, will be choose his own bible to place his hand on over ours? While voicing my comments here I am not happy with the way the election works. A canidate is declared winner in a state by electoral votes before our polls are even closed. So this means each individual vote does not actually even count.?. I am just hoping everyone that goes out to vote on Tuesday goes into the polls with an open mind and thinking things over regarding each canidate and vote with your heart and not just because of your political party. I think it is going to be a huge job for whomever wins this election to step into as President of the United States. John McCane is the best one to fill the shoes as President of the United States this time around.

Lets get one thing straight - right now. NO ONE SUPPORTS ABORTION! NO ONE! It is the right of a woman to have an abortion that is in question. I dont think that anyone who has a conscience would actually support someone getting an abortion and killing the thing living inside of them. What pro-choicers argue is that, fundamentally, it is the right of the person with the living thing growing inside of them to kill it. That, I agree with. So no, I dont support people killing unborn children inside of them but you know what? If they want to its is THEIR CHOICE (ha, get it you pro life idiots CHOICE) TO GET AN ABORTION AND NO ONE MAY ABRIDGE THAT RIGHT.

Another argument that you far right christian wingnuts have is this: UHHH, DERR, THEN WHY IS IT WHEN KILLERS KILL A PREGNANT WOMEN THEY GET CHARGED WITH KILLING THE BABY AS WELL, DUHHHRRR DHHHURRRUUR

well, let me explain that as well. It was not the woman's CHOICE (see there is that word that gets all you right wing whackos in trouble) to have the baby killed inside of her, it was the killers. She had that CHOICE yanked away from her by the person who killed her. So that point is completely moot.

So, no, dont FUKING insult me by saying that I support abortion because I am pro choice. I support the choice of a woman get an abortion, not the abortion itself.

    ROE V WADE IS RIGHT
WOMEN MUST HAVE A RIGHT TO PRIVACY
Pro Choice DOES NOT EQUAL Pro Abortion!!!!

Barack Obama/Joe Biden 08 to protect women's rights and get this country back on track!

a humble thank you. I hope your bright minds are here on Sunday to keep bringing enlightenment and intelligence to the top of this page. It is my day to take care of my terminally-ill father. If you get anymore "far-right" Christian condemnation, feel free to use anything from my post. A fundamentalist might argue with my own beliefs, but they cannot refute the Bible about being a judgmental Christian.

Godspeed Barack Obama and Joe Bidden!!!
