HOW AMERICAN's CAN CREATE JOBS IN AMERICA

In addition to policy changes to encourage Corporate America to re-invest in Americans, we also can do much more. I for one will become a very educated and aware consumer who will make sure, in so far as I can help it, that my purchases of goods and services are with businesses that support American Jobs. And though I won't get as much "bang for my buck", I will do with less and purchase more often from my local, small businesses who create jobs (and tax revenue) in my neighborhood.

If 1 out of 2 Americans could demonstrate this discipline, our FREEDOM TO BOYCOTT, you would see a powerful group larger than any big business lobbyist organization money could buy. If we could do this, with the sacrifices we would have to make, big business would have to start pandering to us consumers. If you don't like the huge trade deficit owed to China, stop buying anything made in China. If basic economics study is not a part of your education, then enlist in some community college courses and learn.

Economics is not an exact science. Economics is considered an imperfect science and relies heavily on the theory that history will repeat itself. However, the science of economics did not factor in the huge corruption and greed of so many huge corporations, or this huge exodus of American Jobs. Applying the old standard of history repeating itself, and fixes based on that theory that used to help, are no longer relevant to our modern economic landscape. It is distressing to see a great economist, Alec Greenspan, admit that "he doesn't know what when wrong or why it happened." He could only cite that he did not foresee the corruption and greed by all of those who are still getting filthy rich....first from their deception and greed, now from our tax payer bail-out!!!

P.S. Don't forget that "Change" is not just for policies of the government. We, the American People, also need to change, do our part, and take back our power. We are the consumers! If we can bring our own bags to the grocery store to cut down on pollution....we can also become enlightened and sensitive to supporting American Jobs by our purchasing choices.

McCain will definitely win this election. His numbers in the polls have consistently gone up, up, up every day while Barack Obama's numbers have stayed around the same. I'm thrilled because I know McCain is the man for the job. Barack is way too secretive and remains a mystery - a President cannot be like this.

It's interesting that Zogby and Rasmussen, which are both very conservative polling businesses, show McCain doing better than all the other polls do. Rasmussen also has, without claiming it as their philosophy, a hit piece by Tony Blankley calling Obama a marxist. What is that doing on a so-called independent polling site? Duh. I used to participate in Zogby's polls, but found them too biased in the manner in which they construct their questions. Sad.

The opinion of our country in the world is greatly diminished, our economy is faltering, people are losing their homes, people are going hungry, people are losing their jobs, and people need hope. Our next president will have his hands full. We need the most intelligient, dedicated, open minded person with a vision for our country. We need someone who can relate to the common people. Both Barack and Michelle came from meager beginnings. I do believe the same of Sarah Palin. However, as courageous as John McCain was during his captivity, I don't think he has the vision for our future. Joe, the plumber, hasn't done his homework. He has listened to rhetoric without studying the issues. Study the issues, educate yourself. Vote for a new beginning and hope for a better America!

McCain will win the election. I have no doubts about it. His numbers have consistently gone up, up, up all week long and Barack's have stayed around the same. I believe most independent and undecided voters will come out and vote for John McCain, and it's a great choice!

william.janota Amen! What I can't figure out is how or why anyone can believe in McCain's proposed concept that big business will trickle-trickle down wealth. Can anyone here provide evidence this has actually happened in the foreseeable past? I remember when the vast majority of blue-color, low-middle class American's could own a home and pay all related home expenses from one weeks paycheck....in the 60's. I remember when my single-mother Grandmother was able to own her own home and meet basic needs by working at a huge dry-cleaning plant...in the 60's. I also remember a time when companies were loyal to their employees, and lay-offs were the absolute last resort even during very lean times.

william.janota what you see is the truth. Corporate America has continued to move jobs off shore. Not just manufacturing either. I said it before and it was removed. But anyone who ever calls Microsoft or WaMu Credit Card support will know your support personnel are now in the Philippines and India. These are $15 to $25 an hour jobs here in the U.S., and some of them require better than a high-school education. Corporate America has not used its tax cuts to create jobs for Americans. But anyone is welcome to prove otherwise.

Come on Americans.....don't get distracted by all the noise they think you're stupid enough to be blinded by......keep your eye on the ball!

We need change and we need jobs here in America. NOW! (Another reason, among many, why my Independent Vote went to Barack Obama)

There is a social phenomena in which a person has a bias towards seeing only positive attributes of members of their own group (or in this case political party), while having a bias towards seeing only negative attributes of the opposing party. Considering our state of affairs, it is important that we make an unbiased evaluation of both presidential candidates, despite our party affiliations. We should not blindly support Obama or McCain. Rather, we should objectively evaluate both of the candidates on how they intend to address the myriad of issues that are facing our nation. There is so much at stake for this coming election! Therefore, we should be paying nothing less than full attention to the entire political picture of this coming election.

I don't see how anyone in their right mind can vote republican. This country goes in the toilet every time a republican is President. Can't you see how good the economy is when we have Democrats in office. The tinkle down effect has never worked it only makes rich people more rich.We need to give tax breaks to poor and middle class because we will spend the money on things our family needs and the money will get to the rich that way.The rich have so many loop holes in the tax system for them that they hardly pay any taxes at all.

  • Posted By: hopeforthefuture @ 11/01/2008 8:44:23 PM

To the middle class people - have you studied Senator McCain's proposed tax plan? The rich are not quite rich enough. He proposes that anyone making over 2.8 million should get a tax break of $269, 364. Senator Obama proposes that the upper class, the top .1 percent, should pay at least the same amount of tax as they did during the Clinton administration. That would raise their taxes $701,885. It has been 8 years since the Clinton administration. Let's see, $700,000 for 8 years adds up to $$5,600,000. No wonder I am poorer and the rich are richer. Also, anyone hear about the profit for Exxon this quarter? Try 13 million. Senator McCain thinks the Oil companies also need a little more of a tax break. Sounds like Bush and Cheney to me.

I don't know what people are thinking when they vote Republican.Look at the facts. This country dips in the toilet every time we have a republican president.Every time we elect a Democrat the economy is good and we have more jobs. Why give tax breaks to the rich that is not going to help anyone but them.If you give breaks to poor and middle class people we will spend the money on things our family needs and the money will make it into the pocketts of the rich that way.The tinkle down effect does not work.

Quite a comparison! Bush and Adolf Hitler! And no, can't say I would agree with Hitler 90% of the time, but that's just me... That whole agreeing with Bush thing is something that McCain can't just run away from. And yes, I think it means quite a lot! How can this country actually change under practically the same administration? But, in all fairness, I wasn't anti-McCain when this all started. I think he is basically a decent man. But, I think he's has given up all control of his campaign to the same people who ran Bush's. And that is not a good beginning.

There is a social phenomena in which a person has a bias towards seeing only favorable attributes for members of their own group or in this case political party, while seeing only negative attributes for members of the opposing party. This is, of course, evident in the support for the presidential candidates. Considering the current condition of our nation, it is important that we abandon our biased perspectives that are based on our party affiliation, and look objectively at our presidential candidates. I encourage voters to not blindly follow along their political affiliation in this election year - there is too much at stake to be paying less than full attention to the entire political picture.

  • Posted By: kracklie1234 @ 11/01/2008 8:24:24 PM

Obama's people keep throwing this stat "voted with Bush 90%" as if it means something. Let's face it, we all agree with Adolf Hitler 90% of the time. It's that other 10% that makes the real difference.

  • Posted By: hopefulmom @ 11/01/2008 8:23:43 PM

kracklie, blind and deaf would describe someone who could watch the circus that is McCain's campaign, and then still vote for him. Who exactly did he kick out, enlightem me? It sounds like, from the comments being made from people inside the McCain camp, maybe he should do some house cleaning himself! If you can't even controll people on your payroll, there might be problems....

  • Posted By: kracklie1234 @ 11/01/2008 8:18:04 PM

I think hopefulmom is blindanddeafmom. Neither campaign is clean. Obama kicks out anyone who disagrees with his side. Get the facts.

It simply amazes me that somehow intelligence and eloquence has become a handicap in this country. If a candidate sounds smarter than the average "Joe", it is a bad thing? For the past 8 years we've had a leader with questionable intelligence who has driven us into the ground. It is unbelievable that there are people out there who are ready to sign up for more of the same! It is closed minded individuals, who cannot accept something different than themselves, who stand in the way of progress and healing for this country. John McCain has run a pathetic campaign. No consistent message, very questionable judgement, and in-fighting among his people. Barack Obama has run a brilliant campaign. It took brains and heart and it was managed beautifully. So just judging from the campaigns these men ran, it seems blaringly obvious who would best run the country. If McCain can't even run a smooth campaign, how do we expect him to run a country. Please open your minds and vote for the candidate who will better our country. John McCain says he has all the answers, how to get Bin Laden, how to fix the economy, etc.... I wonder why he hasn't shared those secrets with the current administration? He is pretty tight with Bush, voting with him 90% of the time. You'd think he'd pass on that info, if he really had a clue. Please don't elect to "average Joes" as the leaders of our country, we deserve and need so much more.

Hey hibmab, Obama's middle name is Hussein, but you knew that. Is that your best argument for why we should vote for McCain? A self-declared "maverick" whose own party does not support him? A man who, when given the choice of running mate, chose a woman who used Alaskan tax dollars to pay for her children's high-cost vacations? But since you asked, guess who named Obama? His WHITE mother.
