There IS something inherently wrong with a political party that relies on, and caters to a "far right Christian base" when too many of these "far right Christians" are racists. I don't know what Bible they study, but it certainly isn't mine. My God of Love must weep. I wept when some of these people raised their hands and admitted on live TV they wouldn't vote for Obama because he is (1/2) African-American. My grade-school (1/2) African-American nephews are exposed to this? Shame on all of these people. Yet, they are in my prayers because they know not what they do...but should, since they are believers and have a higher calling.

I WISH I could say I voted for Obama solely because I know he will try for peace over war whenever possible in the world. I WISH I could say I voted for Obama solely because I know he will forever lift up all of those who have been oppressed in our America, Land of the Free.

No, in truth, I voted for Obama because, after months of research, I also know he will make a great, fair, intelligent leader on all of the issues that concern us. Obama has promised to be a President for the people and by the people. Think about it, Obama has more reasons than any other President to leave a legacy of greatness. McCain can never be that man when he caters to any segment of society who harbors hate towards their fellow Americans.

I think it is time to re-energize the "stop the hate" campaign. Is anyone here interested?

    libswillsellusout ,

You are a racist and should be ashamed that your parents did such a poor job in raising you. If you believe in the bible, and I assume you believe in it literally, you should give it another look. Both the old and new testiments state that the value above all else is to love your neighbor as you love yourself. Yet you spit hatred all over these posts and show yourself to be a failure as a human being. Do everyone a favor and stop posting. You do nothing but turn off independent voters who can not bring themselves to agree with someone like yourself.

We are deciding who we want to run this country and the media did not brainwash me as I watch a lot of different media and look at a lot of different websites also and I vote for hope, a different direction, someone that wants to try and make peace with the world not war. Remember McCain sang the song of "BOMB, BOMB, BOMB IRAN" that say alot as it is not a funny joke to me. Plus McCain does not make good decison ie his failed attemp to make Wallstreet all better, not to mention his worse political decision ever and that was to pi Palin as a running mate as this women needs to back to Alaska and read the constution and watch out Putin.

All I can say is Obam is a liar, and if he is elected that the only good that can come from him, and the Dem congress, is they will drive this country so far down, that it will spark a political revolution. For those who have bought Obama's feel-good message, you'll not be feeling good when he takes your wealth and gives it to your lazy neighbor who just wants a free check from the Government. I don't care of McCain either, they bother lie and can't make half the promices they make. But one must pick the lesser of the two evils, which is McCain.

    • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/29/2008 1:56:26 PM

      What lies?

      • Posted By: Jaray24 @ 10/29/2008 2:21:07 PM

The fact he say's that McCain calls him socialist because he opposes tax breaks. He is Socialist because he wants to take my money and give it to someone who doesn't have enough by Obama's standards. I give to charities and many other causes by my choice, with Obama he will choose.

Obama lies about the military, and economy, the advisors and leaders of those departments in Government, (they don't switch jobs with admins) will advice him of the truth and he will be forced to change his mind, and once again be a liar. He tells people what they want to hear, and not what needs to be said.

The only thing bush did wrong in the last 8 years was be given an economy on the way down from the boom of the 90's. He was given bin Laden as a enemy, which Clinton had in his sights but didn't pull the trigger. Obama is full of half-trues and will lead this country down. You'll see!!!

        • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/29/2008 2:58:48 PM

"the only thing Bush did wrong"??!!? Wow, you've got a short list. Where's Iraq in this list?

          • Posted By: Jaray24 @ 10/29/2008 5:07:52 PM

Iraq was based on intel in the country and the crimes against humanity. Yes Bush has done things wrong, Clinton did things wrong, everyone does things wrong. A president in 95% of the time is only as good as their advisors, and Congress. There is plenty of blame to go around, I just think it's dumb to put it all on one guy.

            • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/30/2008 8:38:31 AM

The Bush administration???s claims of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq formed the key justification for the war to Congress, the American people and the international community. As the former chief United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq, Hans Blix was at the center of the storm. From March 2000 to June 2003, Blix oversaw the UN Monitoring, Verification, and Inspection Commission???s 700 inspections at 500 sites in the run-up to the invasion. He and his team insisted publicly and repeatedly that Iraq did not possess WMD. The Bush administration told these experts that the UN was wrong. What was known in the middle of March 2003, when the war took place, the UN had carried out the 700 inspections without finding any results and also finding a lot of weakness in the evidence that had been presented. It was known and understood that Iraq was not nearly in possession of any significant quantities of weapons of mass destruction. Yet we went anyway. On trumped up evidence.

If you would do your independent studies on history, their was some Iraqi people who where out for gain, and to get rid of Saddam for personal reasons. They are the one's who filled the intel with false intel.

                • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/31/2008 8:59:25 AM

If YOU do your research, you will see the Cheney and Bush had been planning an Iraqi invasion YEARS prior to 2003, and WMD's gave them the "in" they were looking for. When the UN provided reports that the WMD's did not exist, Cheney & Bush dug deeper to "find" "informatives" that supported their reason for an invasion.

"so·cial·ism = 1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods 2 a: a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b: a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state 3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done"
Our "democratic" country has been somewhat "socialistic" since the beginning. Our tax system has almost always been graduated, not flat. Socialism. Our farmers are given money to grow certain crops and given money not to grow other crops. Socialism. We all contribute to a national retirement plan. Socialism. Many Americans depend on Medicaire and Medicaid. Socialism. All the opinions on this blog that suggest that Obama is a socialist are basing it on the Joe The Plumber scenario. Obama has only suggested that we tweak the adjusted tax rates a little bit so that the majority of Americans will get a little bit of a break. And as it always has been, those who make more, pay more. This isn't new people. Until Americans can develop a more fair (flat?) tax - it will continue to be "socialism" - stop quoting sound bytes and do your own research.

          • Posted By: Jaray24 @ 10/30/2008 12:24:02 PM

I don't like any of the "Socialist" programs, I don't care how long they have been going on. It's the fact that both parties want to "Socialize" industries, and I don't like it. Both Pres. Canidates will suck and both are lieing on their programs, I just think that Obama is the bigger liar. (one has to be the bigger of the two).

            • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/30/2008 4:17:19 PM

So you want to get rid of social security, medicaid, medicare, school lunches, subsidized farming, fdic, fmha, fha, ssdi - what else?

        • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/29/2008 2:56:13 PM

I'd like some facts please, not just opinion. For example - Obama wants to give a tax break to 95% of us (everybody that makes less than $250,000). He wants to let the tax break for millionaires expire. That's a fact, not an opinion.

          • Posted By: Jaray24 @ 10/29/2008 5:05:50 PM

Biden stated it was down to $150,000. And in the Q&A with "Joe the Plummer" Obama stated $250,000 in revenue, not profit. Check it out for yourself.

My only question is that can Senator Obama get us out of the stink hole that our current president has dug & gotten U.S. into?.

OK, so let's say you are a representative in Congress in early 2003. The leader of the free world calls you into a meeting to tell you that he has top secret information, details that he can not divulge, but"proof" that Saddam has WMD's and is getting ready to unleash them on to the world. He wishes he could tell you more, but he can't because of security issues. But he needs your help, your permission to "go in there and stop him". What would YOU do? Yes, our reps should have known better, yes, they should have paid closer attention to the documentation the UN was providing - but they, like most of the media, were mis-led - by the Leader Of The Free World. The buck stops at the Oval Office, as it should.

We care about his religion, because if he followed the Muslim religion, which does not allow people to follow other religions, the freedom of religion, or freedom from religion, that we currently enjoy, would be lost. If he followed his religion. He was raised as a Muslim. He supposedly converted to Christianity. However, I would say, based on his attitude and actions, now and in the past, that he does not follow either.

Apparantly you haven't done your research....he may not even be an american citizen!!!! How do you feel about the fact that he refuses to produce his birth certificate? I am a strong believer in the constitution and he plans to change what this country was founded on. If that happens, you can have fun with all the problems his presidency will create & I will just have to sit back and say "I told you so".

On the McCain Report, Michael Goldfarb writes that Sarah Palin "has more executive experience than Barack Obama and Joe Biden put together", a point that, by some strange coincidence, has popped up all over the conservative blogs. I think that the idea that Palin has an advantage over Obama in this area is completely wrong.

When this campaign started, one of my biggest questions about Barack Obama was whether he would be any good at managing things. The President is, after all, the head of a very large organization, and he had better either have good management skills or hire a chief of staff who does. The fact that I didn't know whether Obama had them didn't prevent me from voting for him -- none of the other candidates I might have supported had a track record in management either -- but I would have been happier had I known whether Obama was any good at running things.

I don't have that problem any more. Obama has spent the past year and a half running a large organization -- as of last December, it had "about 500 employees and a budget of $100 million" -- and running it very well. It's not just that he and his team beat the Clinton campaign, which started out with enormous advantages. It's not even that he often did so by building effective political machines from scratch in states in which Clinton had locked down the political establishment. It's that every account of the Obama campaign that I've read makes it clear that he has done an outstanding job of constructing and running a political organization. For instance, this account of Obama's campaign is very much worth reading, if you want to get a sense of how he runs things:

"The story of how Obama assembled his top advisers ??? and how he got them to work together as a team ??? offers a glimpse into his approach as a chief executive who manages an organization of nearly 1,000 employees. Obama has built "an amazingly strong machine," says Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, president of the Chief Executive Leadership Institute at the Yale School of Management. "People expected a more ad hoc, impromptu, entrepreneurial feel to it. It has been more of a well-orchestrated symphony than the jazz combo we expected."

Indeed, in merging the talents of powerful Washington insiders and outside-the-Beltway insurgents, Obama has succeeded at a task that has traditionally eluded Democratic candidates: forging an experienced inner circle who set aside their differences and put the candidate first. "The whole point is that it's not about any of these guys," says longtime GOP strategist Frank Luntz. "They feel blessed. They see it as how lucky they are to be working for this man, at this time, in this election. This is the dream team for the dream candidate. I waited all my life for a Republican Barack Obama. Now he shows up, and he's a Democrat.""

Stated just as the main stream media has fed it to you. Do you get tingly feeling up your leg when Obama speaks, just like Chris Matthews. Obama barely has any experience in the senate, much less any executive experience. It is rediculious, they need to make up the experience by counting running his presidential campaign. All hail the Messiah. Keep drinking the DNC and main stream media Kool-Aid. Maybe go watch some more MSDNC so they can give you some more reasons to vote for Obama. Please People there are only 6 days left, please wake up and reallize you are about to elect the least qualified presidential candidate that has ever gotten nominated for election. Please wake up and refuse to let the the main stream media decide who our next president should be.They feel we are to stupid to chose our own president, so they think they are helping us out by telling us who is best for us. Please look at Obamas ideas, and I am sure you will realize that the do not have the best interest of the USA in mind. WAKE UP, Vote McCain/ Palin

What makes you believe that McCain can run a country any better than he can a campaign? Erratic is the kindest word I can attribute to MCain's leadership style and not even his most loyal of supporters deserve him as president.

To jpepper--Is it really only white Americans that harbor prejudice?--I think not. A larger percentage of white Americans will vote for Obama as compared to the percentage of black Americans who will vote for McCain. Does that mean black Americans are actually more prejudicial. I think not, but be carefull that you label others without looking into your own mirror.

Your right black people didn't enslave other races, they enslaved their own race. Look into history and tell me how the white man got those slaves to begin with. As for as your comment white people have alot of explainging to do.....Please tell me what I have to explain. Also ask yourself this, where you a slave? was your mother? Was your grandmother. I didn't enslave you and niether did my family. No doubt there was slavery, but it didn't happen to you. Get over it already. You have colleges that only black people can attend (for free mind you) If white people had that we would be racist for sure. But hey you keep screaming racism all day long, my issue with OB is policts not race. Remember to brush up your history before you post more ignorance.

What's Wrong With "W"? --- George W. Bush's Political Troubles Affecting Economic Trend And Outcome Of Election. Part I.

by Jordan C. Fan, Prophet Of Environment.

This title are words all started with "W." If you have seen the movie "W" you certainly will know what "W" represent -- George W. Bush. The following are my observations about "What's Wrong With W.": (1) George W. Bush's first mistake was to hire all Blacks for his foreign relation departments. To start his administration, Bush used Colin Powell as Secretary of State and Condi Rice as Foreign Policy Advisor. After firing Powell, Bush still insisted on using a Black woman - Rice as Secretary of State. Together, Powell and Rice have initiated numerous foreign policies which made the U. S. failed on all fronts. Quite obviously, they are all spying for Democrats especially when Powell is currently endorsing Obama. (2) Since the Secretary of State also control U. S. embassies aboard, they can make it much easier for Africans to immigrate to the U. S. whereby increasing the population of voters who will vote against the Republican Party. (3) Bush and Chaney were to too greedy in thinking Iraqi oil can bring them great fortune. Saddam Hussein had problems making money from his oil reserve during peace time. How can Bush and Chaney get profit from oil during a war? (4) Even before Bush took office, the United States was already in a recession. The U. S. government was simply presenting fictitious economic figures to recover up their financial troubles. They also try to improve the economy by increasing military spending. Increase military and related civilian employment will also improve employment statistic. (5) Ever since the Civil War, the United States were never "United." All the Americans could do is to tried to escape from their troubles by expanding westward based on their "Manifest Destiny" ideology. When they had reached the Pacific, Americans started to invade countries such as Hawaii, Philippines and Japan to start World War II. Until finally they reached China and its Korean ally, and were being stopped right at its track. (6) China is simply too vast and Chinese are too strong and intelligent for the American to defeat. So are the Vietnamese. The U. S. was defeated in Asia. There were little or no more colonies for the U. S. to fulfil its 'Manifest Destiny." Therefore the U.S. will have to disintegrate. George W. Bush has aggressively extended his destiny too far which have crossed over into other people's destiny. He had unwisely claimed the domains of Russian, French and British territory as his own which caused his failure in Iraq.

ru4real6846 you are a moron and have no education mccain is no bush so why try and compare. To make it short because my time is way more valuable to try and explain to you and other mislead americans out there, Barack is a fake and will put our country in worse times than you have seen with the Bush admin. . Vote obama if you so want its your right, but do not try and educate me or the millions of others that know better. Also when times get hard in 2009 2010 and so on. All I can say is you asked for it can not wait to hear your crying when your family is living like prisoners and you working and giving all your money to the government.

You are pretty damn scarry yourself buddy. Did you forget that we were attacked under the Republicans and not the Democrats? Why does change scare you so much, this country is a mess. What platform does McCain run on? Check out the tax plans on Media Matters or any other site that has compared Obama's and McCain's and they all agree that 95% of us fare better with Obama then with McCain. It's funny how when Bush ran against McCain you Republicans didn't think that McCain was such a war hero then, and voted for Bush against another war hero, John Kerry. Talk about flip flopping.

Change is not scary, but the change to Socialism the Obama wants is. And as far as economic plans go, every economist that I heard said that raising taxes and increasing spending in the economic situation that we are currently in would be disasterous. Of course if you only get your information from the Obama media, you may not hear that.

unlike you, I check things out on Snopes. com, Media matters, and I actually read newspapers, Time, Newsweek, and I watch the news shows, not American Idol. You should try to educate yourself sometime, the mind is a terrible thing to waste, just look at George Bush

          • Posted By: BSIG @ 10/29/2008 10:20:03 PM

Time, Newsweek. I bet you watch CNN, MSDNC and the rest of the Obama media. As far as educating myself, I have probable forgotten more than you have ever known. You should come over and watch Foxnews and listen to Shawn, Rush and The Great One with me. Libs seem to live in a different world than the rest of us.

            • Posted By: hloveless @ 10/30/2008 4:12:02 PM

Rush and Shawn are not "journalists". They call themselves "entertainers" & "radio personalities". Now, to some folks, politics is very entertaining, but we must base our decisions on NEWS, from respected researchers and reporters, not ENTERTAINMENT.

We do and it is a world where even if you need help we would still help you even though you are a bigot, rude, and lacking in most moral virtues.

This is hilarious. A liberal chastising a conservative for their lack of morals. What a freaking JOKE!

              • Posted By: BSIG @ 10/29/2008 10:35:17 PM

what in any of my post is bigot? I don't dislike Obama as a man, I just have very strong disagreements with the policies he wants to put in place. I think his policies will be devastating for this country. And it isn't just his policies, it is the poliicies that the democratic Senators and Reps. have in mind also. Believe me, I am a Conservative (which is not what the Republican party is any more, even our candidate is not what I would like as our candidate). But that being said, McCain is closer to my point of view that Obama, althougth McCain is still too far left for me.

Then why did congress just increase the deficeit by passing the over seven hundred billion dollar bailout? If you recall or read the papers, the Republican house voted down the bailout until an additional one hundred and fifty billion was added in pork barrel spending and McCain thought this was a good deal even though he is Mr. "no pork barrel" himself with the running mate who approved the bridge to no where until congress nixed the bridge and then she was against the bridge to no where, and she really believed in Senator Stevens until she didn't believe in him and she was against a road to no where until she was for a road to no where for hunters to the tune of ninety million dollars.

          • Posted By: BSIG @ 10/29/2008 11:25:27 PM

I totally agree with you on McCain preaching about no pork barrel spending, then passing that bill after adding 112 billion in pork barrel spending. That really was rediculous. I really wish he had voted against it, but he fell right in line after the republican Reps. voted it down. Personaly I think that it should have never been past and the banks holding the bad loans should have been bought up by the banks who were not. But we were told that that bail out had to be pasted, I suppose to cover up for all the bad loans the government forced upon the banks. I totally agree that bail out was totally socialist plan. I really did find it strange that the Democrats, who had been so negative about Bush, being in such a rush to join with him the push this socialist package throught Congress. The Republican Reps. are the only hope I have in the Republican party anymore. They did try to fail this bail out plan, as well as staying through the summer break trying to get the rest of the Reps. to return to vote on a energy bill. We need to see the rest of the Republicans stand up for the american people like that.

The government did not "force" any bad loans on to any banks. The government did allow the crisis to happen, through de-regulation:
In 2000, Congress passed a law barring states from regulating credit default swaps under their gambling and "bucket shop" laws. This set the stage for the market in "financial derivatives" that are a big part of what is causing the economic meltdown today.
One hundred fifty-five of the Members of Congress who voted for this law are still serving--and they're up for reelection next week. Twenty-two Senators who let the bill pass by unanimous consent are up for reelection Tuesday as well.
The details, and a list of the representatives responsible, are on the WashingtonWatch.com blog.

I have volunteered for Obama in Pennsylvania several times and the enthusiasm level for him there is AMAZING. Yesterday, I started working in Ohio, expecting that I would get a lot of hostility because I was in a VERY Republican small town, but it turns out that about 70% of everyone I talked to had already voted, and already voted for Obama.

If Obama wins either Pennsylvania or Ohio, McCain will be conceding the election by 11 pm.

    Oh Happy Day!

    Caulbearer

Where is Afro located again? On questionaires asking to describe yourself I never saw Euro Afro American listed. When you looked at Barack I'm sure you thought that he looked very Euro Afro American.

If the republicans continue to suppress college votes by scaring them into not registering it does increase McCain's chances but this only means ONCE again the republicans manipulated the system by scaring people away. People see what is happening now so it will be hard to repeat 2004 but the republicans are still trying. Where is Nathan Sproul anyway?.. Always watch and counter the guy paid over $8,000,000 by the RNC for the last election, if you want to win this one.

The cold, hard numbers prove it. As Wall Street reporter Carol Vinzant wrote in Slate.com, "Democratic presidents have produced a 12.3 percent annual total return on the S&P 500, but Republicans only an 8 percent return." The Stock Traderââ'¬â"¢s Almanac confirmed these facts, finding the Dow surged 13.4 percent annually under Democrats, but limped along at 8.1 percent with Republicans at the helm.
Republicans presided over eight of the nine recessions during the past fifty years. As Vinzant explains, "Most of the 20th century's bear markets, incidentally, have been Republican bear markets: the Crash of '29, the early '70s oil shock, the '87 correction, and the current stall occurred under GOP presidents." You can add the S&L Crisis and other examples of poor Republican domestic and foreign policy which caused or exacerbated hard times.

"This [financial crisis] was not caused by HUD ... and not caused by poor people getting homes," Kemp said. "This credit expansion into debt swaps and collateralized debt obligations -- a derivative market of $100 trillion -- was a big mistake, a huge mistake. There needs to be transparency with these things and a modicum of regulation."
McCain supports more DE-regulation. Go figure.

Over the past 75 years, one trend has held constant. Rapid job growth only occurs when there's a Democrat in The White House.

No Republican President -- not Eisenhower, not Nixon, not Reagan, not Bush -- has ever created more jobs, or created jobs at a faster rate, than his Democratic predecessor. It's not even close. The contrast has been especially stark over the past 16 years, when 23.1 million jobs were created under Clinton and less than 5 million were created under Bush. On average, job growth under Democrats is more than twice that under Republicans.

Whatever benchmark you use, the difference is dramatic. Since Truman was elected in 1948, 53.2 million new jobs were created during the 24 years when Democrats held The White House, and 38.3 million were created during the 36 years of Republican administrations. Check it out for yourself:

    Millions of Jobs Added
    Truman 1949 -1952 5.2
    Eisenhower 1953 - 1956 2.7
    Eisenhower 1957 - 1960 0.8
    Kennedy/Johnson 1961 - 1964 5.7
    Johnson 1965 - 1968 9.8
    Nixon 1969 - 1972 6.1
    Nixon/Ford 1972 - 1976 5.2
    Carter 1977 - 1980 10.4
    Reagan 1981 - 1984 5.2
    Reagan 1985 - 1988 10.8
    Bush 1989 - 1992 2.5
    Clinton 1993 - 1996 11.6
    Clinton 1997 - 2000 11.5
    Bush 2001 - 2004 (0.1)
    Bush 2005 - 2008 5.1

Of course, business cycles aren't timed to coincide with presidential inaugurals. But after 60 years it's hard to argue that the Democratic presidents are just lucky.

Republicans consistently dwell on the outlier of the trend, Reagan's second four-year term, when jobs grew at a robust rate of 2.7 million a year. But that four-year spurt is balanced out by the anemic rate of job expansion during Reagan's first term and during the first Bush Administration. As the financial experts always say, you should never lose sight of the big picture and always think about the long term.
